Had a lovely experience at the Powelly Pub. Serving sizes were generous and fairly priced and whilst we were waiting for our food, we were given some games that we would play with (playing cards, uno, etc). They had dairy-free cheese that they were able to put on a friend’s parma as they are allergic to dairy. This was a pleasant surprise given the fact that most pubs don’t have this option. The owners were also very kind - we were camping in Ada and we were running low on wood. Despite not selling wood out of their venue, they put together a little wood + kindling package for us at a very affordable price. Thank you so much for the lovely, local experience!

It’s a find old Powelltown! (to the tune of it’s the final countdown). Great pub and general store in a beautiful little country town with native birds, terrific kids and adult pub meals and burgers, in a clean and neat setting. Nice friendly owners and local patrons and a great beer garden on the River for warmer weather and fireplace for the wintry nights all the classic board games were great with my 4 kids - enjoyed our stop on the beautiful nature filled scenic drive along the winding back roads through the valley.

Pleasant beer garden with serene greenery. Lovely warm coonara fireplace inside. The food is decent unless you're looking for fresh well cooked vegies (they use McCain's frozen peas, corn n carrot mix, or the like). Not quite as hospitable with the new publican. Don't expect a smile unless he knows you're local. Also, expect to get a pint even if you ask for a pot, because he "can't be bothered getting up every time you want a drink". How's that for RSA.

In a quiet little town this pub serves some absolutely delicious food. The kindest people run the place and their attitude is to be your friend which is hard to find in pubs these days. Take time out away from hustle and bustle of the city and sit out the back amongst the trees and frens in peace. My recommendation is try their Powelly burger. Bloody yummy. Well done guys I'll be back again soon. Thankyou for your hospitality.

After reading the good reviews, I decided to go for a visit, but I guess I went at the wrong time. At 4:30pm on a Friday the kitchen was closed and there was almost no hot food available except for 2 pies in the warmer. There's a sign on the door with the bistro opening hours, but I guess they don't do any hamburgers or takeaway either outside those times. I'd recommend checking the bistro hours before making a visit.

My fiancé and I were visiting from Melbourne and ended up at this pub as it was the only place showing the footy game we wanted to watch. What a wonderful arvo we ended up having! Very welcoming and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, everyone was smiling and food was amazing! If we are ever back up this way, we will definitely be popping back in. Thanks again for a great arvo Powelly Pub!

Surly and stressed staff. We went there to support them post COVID, but they made us feel like a nuisance. No GF options on the menu. I have been stopping here for years, but won't be any longer. I also don't believe hand feeding the kookaburras is a good idea.

Place looks inviting, unfortulately we visited on Monday. Not much to buy except a few bottles of nice wine, I couldn't miss that, for very reasonable price. Coffee was good and I'm very sensitive about that. Bad coffee - no go, so here it was nice surprise.

Food was ok nothing to ride out there for. Absolutely no steak which sucked. Plenty of reviews stated how good the steak was, and the wasn't any. Very small venue

Great little pub with a fantastic outdoor seating area at the back which overlooks LaTrobe River. Owners allowed us to bring our little dog out there too. Burgers were excellent and we weren't charged for our 3yo's lemonade!

This pub overlooking the rainforest, with resident kookaburras and a lyre bird, is a hidden gem. The people who run and work at it are so lovely, and on weekends... the steak. Best I've had in a long while.

After buying a drink and ordering an evening meal I asked the Publican if I could use the WiFi. He said it was for in-house use only. What? What pub doesn't provide access to their WiFi?! Wasn't happy.

After a long day's ride, I arrived only to find that the place was closed two hours before advertised. And yes, that's according to the opening hours posted on their front door.

Very friendly people, delicious steak and so happy with pepper sauce, and that extra chilli sauce, not bad at all for me as Indonesian who likes spicy food, I give it 8 of 10

We sat out back under the umbrella's and enjoyed their beef burgers...very tasty. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon before heading off on our adventure bikes.

Nice place to stop and I always enjoy having something to eat there, but you definitely want to check opening and closing times if you’re relying on having a meal.

Powelley Burger was good value, came out reasonably quickly, views into the trees are nice and a visit at the end from the local birds was great

  • wayne wilson

Got told I couldn't use their tolet and was directed 300 meters up the street to a public tolet. Not a huge deal but I will never go back there.

  • Danny Trollope

Not much in the general store. If camping bring plenty with you including water. They need to lift there game if they want outside money.
