The food is usually very good and great value for money. However, I had a Roast of the Day recently and I could honestly say that it is the worst Roast of the Day that I have ever had. It consisted of about 6 big slices of lamb not tender sitting on top of 4 pieces of blanched broccoli 2 thin strips blanched carrot and diced potato. Very little gravy. Couldn't eat the broccoli or the carrot. The Chef should go along to the Hot Roast Roast Kitchen in High Street Kew and see what a real Roast of the Day consists of. Same price as the Riversdale Hotel. I must say that I always enjoy the food there but not their Roast of the Day. It was most disappointing. I wouldn't have the Roast again! .

The parma here was probably the most average thing I have ever eaten, starting with the parma its self it was very bland with no seasoning & a very clearly out of the bottle sauce. The cheese & ham was good tho. The parma was also cooked in old oli as you could taste it with the lack of seasoning. The salad was good with a semi coleslaw with nice dressing. The chips where below average with very little salt/seasoning and being slightly over cooked. Over all of the meal was only 16$ but I would it at a 4.5/10

It's a great pub to go to, if you want to have a quiet drink.......a lazy poke, or even just chill out and watch the big screen tv! I do warn though.....on special event days and "O" say CUP DAY! lols...... It will get a fair bit busy........ and it's great! If thats your scene...... all in all; great staff, great coffee, and they even got a smoking area you can go and just chill out in! Thanks people!

I have been to every pub in Melbourne some I qualified to say that this one is the WORST. There are some real average joints in Melbourne but the Riversdale takes the cake. If you’re lucky enough to survive the salmonella poisoning your likely to get from the worst parmigiana in the world, tell your friends and family to AVOID this place. Staff are rude, food is horrible and all around an absolute fail.

never write reviews stop going to hotel service was shocking staff on mobiles wasn't interested in service ,food poor but myself and boyfriend called in on Monday 11th Jan 21 to watch cricket girl behind bar was fantastic she was only staff member on as i could see doing gaming Tab bar she was polite friendly helpful with tab ...maybe had clean out of staff will be back live local .

I booked the function room for my 50th birthday recently. I can’t speak highly enough about the service we received from Kim the events manager, who was incredibly helpful. The room was perfect for a small gathering, and it was so great to be able to bring our own grazing table snacks, and DJ equipment. Really reduced the costs. I would certainly book again for future events.

The bistro is intimate and quiet and even when it's busy it never feels like it's loud and over crowded. Not only do the meals taste delicious, the menu offers a great selection and is great value. 10/10 for a fantastic evening out"

We did not go to the hotel as such. We went to the pop up restaurant Mahob by Amok. We have been here several times and the food never fails to be exceptional. Only giving four stars because I find the restaurant a bit loud. Food is beautiful with lots of variety and plenty of vegetarian options.

17 of us enjoyed a lovely meal and catchup at the Riversdale last evening especially as it was a 90th birthday celebration. The staff were wonderful with helping cut the cake and serving up etc at no cost. Can only highly recommend for a group gathering. A big thankyou to the dedicated staff on the night. Yvonne Dite

Arrived with 3 out of the 6 group sober yet all of us were turned away. The two bar staff made their decision before ordered our drinks. It's you'd like a social late night drink don't bother the bar tenders are not racist but very "biast in who they serve. No love for equal opportunity here!!!!!!!!

Not sure if the ownership has changed hands, we have had grand final dinner here for many, many years. It is not the same any longer, wouldnt choose to go back again. It is probably ok for anyone who is only looking for basic type meals, though their prices were expensive for what you get

I am a regular client of the Riversdale Hotel, as I find their meals not only quite palatable, but also excellent value, with a "shop a docket" or on the night of their "specials"....currently mid week. Service is quite good and I love the warm rolls served pre-meal, with butter!

Went in at 6 for dinner. Was nice and quiet and well air conditioned. Ordered the parma which was fairly average but arrived promptly. The accompanying salad was questionably fresh, with the cucumbers looking quite dehydrated. The service was lovely and prices were reasonable.

The Bistro was very quiet when we arrived about 6.30 Friday night so we had our pick of tables. Service was pleasant and fast and our Chicken Parmas were as good as we've had in Melbourne. Nice ambience, good food and some friendly poker machines after dinner. We'll be back.

We went there to watch a soccer game on tv and have a few drinks, overall i found the bar staff friendly plus others around us, They even had free pies to eat that night just for anyone to have. Some drink prices could be lowered to match surrounding pubs/bars at times.

Tonight i visited the Riversdale Hotel after an absence of several years, and i was pleasantly surprised by it's tasteful referbishments, it's friendly staff, and welcoming vibe. Apparently (according to regular patrons) they now also serve very good meals.

Had a beer here while waiting for friends to arrive for dinner next door. The pub/TAB was a little rub down, but the service was good. A lot of pokies machine in-house and might not be kids friendly.

Had a Chicken Parma tonight and it was one of the best I have had in a long time. Great thick and tasty chicken breast with a good crumb and nice topping on top. The chips where good as was the salad

The location and service is lovely, but the food was not always great. The steak was very overcooked, the beef skewer was old and the lamb skewer was very grisly. On the overhand the chicken was fantastic! Good selection of drinks too.

I saw some bad reviews for this pub including some for bad parmas- brought the kids for a pub meal. The Parma was excellent! Big serves, delicious chips. And they gave free drinks for the kids. 5/5 will come again soon!

Heard on the f/b Hawthorn & Auburn Community group that The Riversdale had picked up its act, so we gave it another chance. Bzzzz ... a big F-A-I-L. The chicken in the parma special was very tough. Say no more ..

Came here on a cold Saturday night and we were not disappointed. The chicken ribs and eggplant chips were fantastic, we will definitely be coming back. They also offer a Pot and Parma special on Wednesday nights
