I gave Summerhill a 3 because of the quality of the food and not enough salads served with meals. The meals are huge, if they cut the size of the serve, example lasagne to about half the size and serve with a salad then it would be much more appealing. This would also make it a healthier option and a lot more appealing. Most of the food was deep fried and/or rich in sauces or toppings. This doesn't have to be the case, a bit of twicking could make the meals a lot heartier and appealing to the eye. I say this also as Australians in general don't need this size serve and need a lot less richness in the foods. These serving sizes are contributing to Australians belt size. Sure you can say that one does not have to eat it but, people tend to think 'I'm paying for it so I better eat it', yes that's how people do think. My dinner was not what I expected, I got a ceasar salad because no salad was served with the dish I wanted. What I didn't expect was to get what seemed half an iceberg lettuce and very little other. The chicken seemed a bit fatty and the bacon was not trimmed of the fat and had a lot of excess fat from cooking. There was also no anchovies and very little sauce. The dish was not what I saw in the photo, so I was disappointed. My Mother thought about the Seniors seafood basket but it gave no indication in the description as to what was in it. When you put something up for offer on the menu, make sure you have what is in the dish. Saying "Seafood and eat it" is not good enough. The service by Tash (in training ) was good and she brought our coffees over to the lounge table. We used to goto Summerhill regularly and decided to try it again to perhaps make it a regular outing, but this won't be happening in a hurry. This outing was honestly not worth my $60+. Something we also found that you (Summerhill management ) may wish to look into is that it is a lot hotter in the restaurant part then the lounge. By all means if you want huge meals then goto Summerhill, but if you care about the size of your meal and the quality, you may wish to rethink Summerhill as a place to dine.

Dinner tonight was not a great experience. Firstly, the girl on the counter was friendly enough, but didn’t have knowledge around drinks or food. Which is fine we all have to learn, but she had no support immediately around her to ask. Ordered an onion rings as an entree for the table to share, kristy was the server for the meals, the mains showed up and I said I don’t think they are ours we ordered an onion rings to come out first, she responded with well these are ready and the onion rings aren’t so they will Come out when they’re ready. We ordered 2 parmys chips and salad and side of mushroom gravy which is $3, when they arrived it was plain gravy. This point was raised with Kristy who said “ well the ticket in the kitchen said plain. That’s why you got plain.” We advised her the ticket was incorrect and asked to her to change it, which seemed like a major inconvenience for her. Lastly, there was a seafood basket on the specials beside the till, prior to ordering it, I asked what was in it. Was advised, fish, prawns, calamari and scallops. What arrived was processed “prawn cutlets”, what they called the scallops are known at the fish and chip shop as seafood bites, rounds of processed seafood extender, the calamari was the processed “squid” rings and the fish is still unknown, all of it completely disgusting. I get that sometimes food isn’t wonderful, there’s issues with suppliers and mistakes happen, BUT the attitude and blatant hostility around it was unnecessary.

Lockdown restrictions over, I now get to check out the local and surrounds. Found the Summerhill Hotel on a quest to Marco's, the fabulous supermarket next door. The Summerhill is a Casino-chic, restaurant and bar that caters for a wide variety of people. While I'm not a gambler, I do appreciate the "Vegas" sign up in lights as it reminds me of my time in The States. There is a centralised, massive tv and various mix-sized screens for sports watching. The bar staff are friendly, and have a neighbourly vibe. They are attentive, and act on requests (ie channel changes on the tv to specifics sports - with sound!). Brilliant for watching the game, whether it be footy, NFL, basketball, cricket etc. The bar selection is standard, but could do with more variety in beer (suggestions could be draught from other states, increased international selection from USA, UK and Europe). The kitchen is run by an iron chef that impressively caters for over 40 tables. Had a flat white coffee while here, prepared by Neysa ... and it was superb; easily rivalling boujee coffee shops. Since this is Reservoir, a place desolate for good coffee; I was ecstatic to make this discovery. Like finding an oasis in the desert. Will be back, will become a member!

Cannot go to a better place for a meal in the Bistro. Their food has always been excellent @ as a member they have the benefits of 2 for 1 meal deals & the staff are always friendly & helpful. Many times we've had our birthdays there as members you get a celebration letter that gives everyone of your guests their meal half priced so an awesome meal costing now more than $13.00's with triple points that you the member gets so you can save towards a variety of items from their cabinet of items ranging from things for the kids to electrical items used in the home or even for the outdoors. I've over the years gotten some awesome stuff & have used it to get things my children have liked so they to have used it for themselves as members. If you know where it is check it out become a member & benefit the goodies for yourself. It has a Gaming area for those who play the pokies, a sports bar/TAB, lounging areas for those who want to sit with friends for a coffee n cake or even a snack from the Bistro, comfortable smoking areas. Only thing it doesn't have is a play area for children but that is something I'll be adding to their suggestions box as will other members I've spoken to.

Good evening A year or so ago I was a resident in the area and frequented your hotel, to play the pokies. This was more than a year ago. I have since returned to Reservoir and popped in to your venue. I was hoping to catch up with one of your gaming staff, Mikki, she always was a welcoming staff member. I was wondering if Mikki is still employed at SummerHill, I have been in a couple of times and current workers do not know of Mikki. Can you please let me know if Mikki is still employed at your hotel, if not do you know where she is working? I would love to catch up with Mikki again after an absence due to my work commitments interstate. I rarely place reviews, however in a gaming environment Mikki (I'm hoping the spelling is correct) was a comfort and supportive in her role on the floor. I would appreciate a reply. My partner and I placed an order for take away, thought why not support a local business during the pandemic. Sadly it's not what we hoped for from our local pub. Steak was all fat, the squid felt cheap/processed. Chips were all soggy from the meat. The onion rings were actually decent. The Milkshake was yummy. Sadly we couldn't even eat our garlic bread, by the time it got to us it was like someome dipped bread into water and let it sit. The lemon meringue tasted kind of like chemicals. Salad dressing was great with the salad though. The mushroom sauce was bland. It's disappointing we spent $80 on a meal we ended up feeding to our dog. I'm sorry for this to be so negative, I just really hope something can be taken from the feedback and other customers are able to enjoy a more positive experience and meal.

Decided to have a chill evening, so I went into the gaming floor. After a short while, walked over to the coffee station and ordered a hot chocolate. I'm watching the girl proceed to throw 2 heaped teaspoons of chocolate into a cup followed by hot milk. I could have done better job making my milo at home. Full of floating chocolate bits, and when i finished it, the bottom of the cup resembled something that a pig would lay in. Chocolate didn't melt and tasted like warm milk. Probably a better option would be to put the chocolate into the milk jug and froth it together. Now, i am fully aware that it's complimentary, but for god sake, please train certain staff to make it properly, even if you need to charge. I'd be quite happy to pay for a decent cup

Went here tonight with the fam, 3 Parmas and one steak medium. Steak came well done so I went up and complained and asked for my money back as it is a reoccurring thing, the manager argued that it was medium even though had no pink colour at all. I always ask for medium so I think I would know what it should look like. They then said they couldn’t refund and gave a $25 voucher even though I paid $36 for the steak, so now I’m loosing money. I then complained again and they asked if we wanted a jug of coke and we said no due to the loss of appetite and just wanted the full refund. They further said no we can’t give the remaining amount on a voucher. The staff were also laughing at our complaints. What a disgrace from the staff and business.

This bistro has really gone downhill, the nice staff are gone! The meal l had was pork roast, well the one slice l got was roasted alright, it was hard, brown and looked old, l worried actually l might get sick, lm not a huge pork eater but mostly it’s white meat, not this it was brown! Just wished l had of taken a picture to put with this review. I took plate to the counter and told her to tell the chef to try eat this as it was really bad. A worker came and asked me if l wanted a free drink or cake l think he said, but l just wanted them to know people are not going to eat that, l would say it had definitely been reheated in a pan, l have ticked this bistro off for good, l hope they can get proper chefs who know how to cook.!

Made a booking for 6pm for 3 on 2/5/2016. Booking time was made by the staff as to suit there needs, after arriving on time we were told that we couldn't order for 30 minutes. The reason being as there had been a sudden influx in customers. After we voiced our dissatisfaction with this, the wait staff discussed with themselves and returned to say that they could take our order but it would not be started for a half an hour. We are members of this organisation and have been since it first opened its doors. To treat any customer like this is appalling in itself but for a lifetime member to be treated with such degrading behaviour is an embarrassment to the company, to the staff and the hospitality industry in itself.

Ordered a meal delivered from Uber eats and it was exceptionally disappointing. I got a steak with chips and salad and I requested a medium steak, they gave me a well done chewy one that was burnt around the edges. It was horrible so after a couple bites I was done. They packed the salad on top of the hot meal so by the time it arrived it was warm and all wilted so couldn’t eat it. I asked for extra seasoning on my chips and they had practically none so they were bland and not enjoyable to eat. Also ordered their Mac and cheese which was cold and all gluggy, the flavour was not nice at all either. Onion rings were ok but definitely won’t be ordering again.

Summerhill hotel you are dropping in standards. I ordered bangers and mash off Uber eats. I don’t know how a chef could fail on such a simple, simple recipe. I would’ve cooked myself but being in the emergency awaiting doctors, I don’t see that happening. The veggies were half cooked, mash was like rock, sausages weren’t cooked fresh, it’s as if they were sitting in the bain marie for hours. Management it’s about time you invest in your workers and send them to some sort of training where they can do better for themselves, for their team, for the business and for the customers. Ultimately this falls on you management.

The best things about this place is the staff and the regular patrons. I have had countless issues with the bistro in the past so I do not eat there anymore, although others seem quite happy with it. The bistro is quite small and there is no kids play area so that could be an issue for some with larger family groups. Good for smaller groups or couples though. There is a sizeable area where you can sit down and relax in front of a flat screen TV with your drinks or coffee or snacks which is not typical of most pokies venues. There is a TAB as well as free Wi Fi available in the venue.

I was here tonight I gave wrong ticket to cash out and the ticket didn't work so they called the manager LISA who care she took the ticket to my face and said this is wrong ticket I said I don't think so , pls step back she come back and still look at it wrong ok I said your are in my face why do u have to be so rude . She was right but how she spoke with me was horrible and I asked she is a manager . I know they deal with all kind of people but none have right to talk yo anyone like that but guys that's was there was very nice .

Located on Plenty Road Reservoir, this hotel provides pokies and TAB with eating area for about 100 people. The food is good with a great variety of dishes and prices are reasonable. Seniors meals are a good size and they offer a rewards program with points that can be traded for a discount on meal prices. The parking can be tight on busy days as the share the carpark with another restaurant and construction is currently underway in nearby shops.Staff are friendly and helpful.

Food in bistro has always been good but recent takeaway choices are sorely disappointing. Everything was soggy. Paid extra for veg instead of salad as a side on a meal and received a chunk of cauliflower and three slices of carrot. Not worth the extra money given it replaced the usual salad. Definately worth a visit for a good cheap feed once things reopen but I won't be trying the takeaway again.

What an enjoyable Fathers Day lunch at Summerhill Hotel. Our meals were amazing. Excellent service, especially Kristy very friendly and helpful. Complementary raffle entry and keno vouchers were given to the fathers, such a special thought. The atmosphere was great, not noisy. Able to have a conversation while enjoying our meals. A big thank you to the staff and management. Well done.

The food is a rip off. Boring & expensive.The staff are rude and disrespectful and the venue is designed for one thing only....to take your money and give you nothing in return. I even had to pay 20cents for hot water and a tea bag ! Every other pokies venue gives their patrons free coffee/Tea or soft drinks...this dump serves you a 20 cent cup of tea out of a machine. WHAT A JOKE !!

The steak was tiny and so dry I couldn’t even eat it. I asked for medium and it was well over. For $32 it’s disgusting what a rip off. Most of the staff are friendly. But the kitchen lets this hotel down in a big way. I’ve tried eating here more than once to give it the benefit of the doubt. But that won’t happen again food is very overwhelming and the costs ridiculous.

Had lunch here, and all I can say is it was “okay”. Whoever is making their steak sandwiches could use a course on how to make a good one…..who puts the cheese at the bottom of the sandwich underneath the salad ingredients where it remains a cold slab? Overall not horrendous, but I won’t be back when there’s much better options nearby

Lousy food. I decided to get a parmigiana into me. Absolutely starving after walking every aisle at the local Kmart store. As you may imagine we were starving hungry. Both of us ordering the same meal with similar ill encounters. Chicken was pink in the centre and the crumbing overly crispy and over done. Salad was soggy and the fries tasted uncooked

Worst experience ever, upon entering, I was interrogated by the bored and disgruntled security guard about my previous whereabouts and how much I had to drink. I was completely sober. Never experienced anything like it. Needless to say I didn't take being accused of being a drunk very well, gave him a mouthful and went down the road.

Went for a drink and a feed with a mate on Sunday arvo. Asked the bartender if they had any cider on tap and she said they had great northern. After pointing out that was a lager she suggested a furphy. Ended up leaving as i couldn’t trust a place with food if their bartenders don’t know the difference between drinks.

The price discrepancy of the Parma I had was completely different to what was listed on their website. Parma was a run of the mill experience, nothing too great, nothing too bad. EFPOS machine was also not working even though it is COVID, had to get cashout at the nearest ATM, with an additional $2.90 fee.

Wouldn't recommend this place. Had ordered cake and a coffee. Was horrified to find a piece of hair on the plate and got told that maybe I had placed it there or someone that had walked past placed it there. Didn't get refund for item and wouldn't go back. Horrible customer service from one of the staff.

Had lunch here today and it is a pleasure to be here. The staff there are always so friendly, I put a couple of bets on at the tab and the new girl there had the most friendliest smile and attitude, much nicer than the Indian male who is always rude.

Great service from the guy with the iPad. Food servings are pretty big especially the Angus burger. Rosie was fantastic with the reservation. Calling me back to let me know what time the kitchen closes. Great local pub. Beats the shamerock anyday!

Had dinner last night, was served by Julie who was lovely. I assumed that steak night meant I would be paying for a full-sized plate, but instead got a senior's plate, which I could have gotten any other day. I feel like I was ripped off.

Summerhill Hotel is the pick of the North. The Salmon is delicious, simplicity at its best. Staff are friendly and service usually quick. Definitely worth a visit. Husband loves their perfectly cooked ribs and enjoys the steak as well.

Cannot fault this place at all the food is always good and customer service is amazing! Highly recommend Anne the extremely hardworker who always goes above and beyond with her impeccable customer service. Thank you

Food and staff is really good but aircon doesn’t work. I asked the staff if they can do anything about it but they said it’s automatic they can’t change the temperature. Everything else is good but please fix your aircon.

Staff are great except for unfriendly security . Food is good and at reasonable prices . There was plenty of parking, but the lines could do with repaint .

O went to this venue with 15 other people and we had a great time. Food was excellent, its clean and a bit fancy. O will be going back for the soup of the day and a loaded Parma.

Had ameal at Summerhill today,had the best lambs fry ever,and my wife had a chicken burger and loved it .would recommend the venue toa anyone ,also toilets were immaculate.
