What a gem on Centre Road! When did this place appear? Very happy it did. White tablecloths, always a nice touch. Only issue is its very small and a little too cosy, though we were there on a Saturday night and whilst full, it wasn't too noisy, I'd say just too many tables in one small area. Not a deal breaker but prefer a bit more breathing room. Staff were exceptional and many who were Italian. Knew their stuff re food and wine. Suggestions welcomed and very satisfied. I had the seafood linguine. Only complaint, if it was that is there's never enough seafood. Always the shells but not a lot else. Yes some prawns, scallops, calamari, but it appears the shells were decoration because I could only find one mussel and a tiny amount of vongole. It didn't disappoint even though I'm critical because the huge tastiness of it made up for the lack of seafood. Had to have tiramisu. It was ok. Probably 3/5. Not exceptional as I would expect in an Italian restaurant, then again I'm so used to loads of mascapone, coffee & sweetness this was a little lacking in all areas. Maybe it was more grown up than I'm used to. I can see I'm critical yet I still give this 5/5 because it was an unexpected find and felt like I'd walked into a trattoria in Rome. I'll be back.

The atmosphere and service was 10/10. The owners have really made a wonderful effort here. Staff were so professional and accomodating. Oh how fabulous it was to see a white tablecloth in a suburban restaurant….a rare sight these days! You really felt like you were in a classy establishment in the city. Our entree was also fantastic. Unfortunately the reason for my 3 stars is that the mains were sadly just OK - the portions were generous but the flavours were not refined/just missed the mark completely with respect to the fine dining level they seem to be aiming for - We couldn’t help but feel disappointed given the prices are on par with what you would be paying at some of the best Italian establishments in Melbourne. So sad. I really wanted to love this place and I think it has a lot of promise but the kitchen needs to up its game for these prices - or quit the white tablecloths and drop the prices by 20-30%.

Congratulations @TÁVOLA Restaurant what a very welcome addition to the Bentleigh food scene! Such an amazing and authentic Italian restaurant. Magnificent lunch. Fabulous menu, plus "Express Lunch" options as well as daily specials. The Gnocco Catanzarisa was amazing as was the Tagliatelle della Luinese! Also highly recommend the Bruschetta of the day as a starter. Can't wait to come back and taste more of the menu. Great wine list also available. The service, food and wine were all outstanding. Una bella esperienza a Tavola - a beautiful experience at Tavola! My friend and I came in last Sunday for lunch and ordered the two different rigatoni dishes available. The portions were generous, the quality of the ingredients were very high as everything was very fresh. The service could not be faulted as the staff had great product knowledge and were able to recommend exactly what we were after. We have both recently been to Italy, so it was lovely to have a very authentic Italian experience here in Melbourne. I look forward to coming back.

Absolutely amazing. Would rate 12/10 if I could. Had the fritto misto for entree, which usually, i’m not the biggest fan of fried seafood, but it wasn't dry at all, still juicy and full of flavour. We had the Osso Buco which somehow tasted like the best cheeseburger in the world. I had one of the specials which had asparagus, saffron and guanciale which was so great- flavours I've never experienced before, pasta perfectly al dente. Tried a bit of my friend’s gnocchi which was another winner. Tiramisu excellent. Will definitely be back

The service is top notch - the waiters operate like a well oiled machine. Super attentive without being pushy. Was impressed when I ordered one serve of crocchettes as an entre to be split between my partner and I (which comes as 3) and our waiter immediately asked if we'd like it to be made as 4 pieces so we could have two each. It's just the little things like that which make for a better dining experience.

We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary here and it was so nice. The restaurant is small and intimate, the staff are attentive and authentically Italian the food is so yummy, the music is romantic and not too loud inside so you can hear yourself speak and the drinks menu I recommend the Nepantha cocktail (in photo)
