Now that the emotional storm is almost over & a sense of calm is beginning to wash now that the Celebration of Life has been beautifully delivered, I wanted to take the time on behalf of the family to thank you most sincerely for your kindness, compassion and care from the moment I followed up on a recommendation & called, throughout the enormity of planning & on the day we paid tribute to our very special man, our father. Your sincerity and thoughtfulness was deeply appreciated as we journeyed through uncharted waters - for we were the fortunate ones who until Dad’s passing hadnt needed to navigate such a mammoth task. Your professionalism and delivery was always a wonderful comfort knowing that you had us each and every step of the way as we waded through the enormous initial grief through to his final tribute. Family and friends from afar admired and enjoyed the soft & compassionate approach you so thoughtfully & carefully orchestrated. We were very touched by your inclusion of both of his grand daughters with the lighting of the candle in memory of him. The lasting legacy of the afternoon was truly special for all who attended, especially for us and his wider family. We will remain forever more grateful. Thank you for making the unthinkable bearable; as we journeyed through the haze of planning. It’s been a tsunami - which at times, felt like it lasted for months as we navigated the last uncharted waters of his ailing health through to the calm of the Celebration of Life ceremony. I know he would have been overwhelmed by the peace and beauty of the service you so beautifully and authentically delivered. We had many ask much later if you were a member of the family or a long family friend - the authenticity and compassion brought enormous comfort. As we approached the many firsts following his passing, our grieving has been softened knowing we duly honoured him with a fitting & thoughtful farewell he so deeply deserved. Life is something most of us talk about easily and frequently: our plans, struggles, hopes and dreams. But death, an essential part of the circle of life, is something many of us avoid thinking and talking about at all costs - until the day we can’t ignore it anymore, and we have to deal with saying goodbye to a loved one. When I realised my mum was close to dying, I knew that I needed to start thinking about funeral arrangements - but I had no idea where to start, all I knew was a “traditional” funeral wasn’t right for my mum. I hired The Last Time and Lillian Lyon to take care of my mum's funeral arrangements. They were absolutely outstanding. They took care of everything in a time that I couldn't handle nor didn't know what to do. I called them the moment she passed, they took care of all of it: handling my mother right through funeral stages, including all paperwork required, to organizing not one but two ceremonies for me - a private funeral for family, as well as a celebration of life for the wider friends. All of which choosing independent services rather than costing a fortune through large funeral systems. I'm so grateful for that. Lillian Lyon is an amazing celebrant, and her sensitivity, her organization of the events, her art of knowing what to say and how to bring people together, is a real talent. She has the knack of reading the room well, and her ability to make us feel OK, throughout the entire process, handling everything, was amazing. I had the privilege of assisting The Last Time at a recent funeral service. A gentleman approached me as he left the chapel. He said he'd only known the deceased for a few years but the celebrant Nicque had taken him through his friend's life in a most gentle and comforting way. He also mentioned it was clear throughout the service that Nicque and Lillian really cared for the family and about providing a safe space and time for them to honour their loved one and celebrate his life how they wanted to. Nique and Lillian own and operate The Last Time. What they achieve is amazing considering they don't have any other staff. I am an experienced funeral celebrant and in my opinion, there is no way this family would have had such a personal and unique ceremony with one of the big funeral director companies. They just don't cater to the individual needs of families at such a vulnerable time to the extent that The Last Time does, and this view was confirmed by the kind gentleman who took the time to speak to me.

We, as a family, were so grateful for the care and attention Lillian and Nicky gave to us during the arrangements for my sister's cremation and memorial. Lillian attended meetings with the family at my home on several occasions. She listened to our requests and nothing was too much trouble or out of the question. Lillian also listened to our stories and memories of my sister. It was like having a close family member attending to all the arrangements. Lillian somehow managed to gleen the essence of my sister from all our reminiscences and at the memorial it seemed like she had actually known her. The thought Lillian put into her part of the service was amazing. Everything at the cremation and the service was perfect. Our family cannot recommend The Last Time Funerals highly enough and we thank Lillian and Nicky for everything they did to help our family, and particularly my nieces, through this very sad time.

I recently attended a funeral service that was looked after by The Last Time Funerals for the sister/daughter/mother of a family I grew up with. Having been to other funeral services I have to say that this one felt so much more personal and compassionate in allowing the service to flow in its own time. Engaging The Last Time for Mum's celebration of life and all that entails was the easiest decision of this whole process. Lill has been part of my life since marrying my husband and I 16 years ago and was the celebrant for my Dad's celebration of life 11 years ago.
