Expensive and failed to do the job twice. First service they suggested a drain cam if the problem re-occurred, second service 2 months later where I asked for this they didn't do it, and again suggested I do this in future. Emailed to let them know I was unhappy with that, and received a phone call from Rhett saying I should have called during business hours (I rang at 9am), and that really what I need to do is get a drain cam down to find out what's going on. Final comment from Rhett "It's just a blocked toilet drain, it's not the end of the world." Save yourself $850 and use someone else, or take Rhett's advice and just don't worry about not having functional plumbing: go join the bears in the woods! EDIT: Got a different plumbing company to attend. Turned out to be a standard case of roots in the drain. They removed the roots, scoped the drain to be sure it was now actually clear, and the system has been fine since. Took them maybe 45 minutes to an hour total, including the time required to cut an access port into the existing plumbing to avoid removing the toilet. Other plumber seemed baffled as to how Rhett and his team missed such a basic issue twice.

Our review is consistent with other one-star reviews. Rhett Johnston Plumbing attended our place to replace two washers. We were quoted $150 + gst. When we received the invoice, there was a price increase and a note: "Additional charges made due to time spent isolating water supply." The contractor was assisted with finding the water supply and there was no mention of any increase/hidden fee/alteration to the quote we had been given. We asked for clarification: "I find the invoice a little confusing and would appreciate some help in understanding things. I am trying to work out which line item(s) contribute to the approx $107 increase to the original quote. 1) What quantity of 'Tradesman Labour' was assumed in the original quote? (e.g. 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0) 2) What quantity of 'Service Fee' was assumed in the original quote? (e.g. 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0) Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter." We received: "The charges are clearly identified in the invoice. Please let me know if you have any further questions." We are disappointed in the service received and unfortunately cannot recommend this business.

Worst possible experience anyone can have. Please DO NOT EVER deal with this company - zero rating if possible. Firstly, they came out to fix the issue with the kitchen bench leak and we still have a leak. They demand full payment before coming out to look at what the issue is again - this is within 10 days of the work been done. Secondly, when dealing with owner to fix the issue, email got heated and he was the most rude person to deal with (evidence attached in photo). There was no apology for work not been done right and they got their customer's name wrong in the correspondence. Thirdly, we got charged time for the plumber to wait for access to the house - there was no indication given by the plumber that time would be charged. He arrived earlier than booked time. I would not ever recommend anyone to deal with these rude arrogant people. The photo attached will tell you the story.

Was told over the phone it would be roughly $150 for the first half hour of work and $30 thereafter for every 15 minutes. I just needed them to close off a gas pipe that was already extracted from the wall and easily accessible. Literally all he had to do was cinch the tube and that’s it. Plumber shows up and says ‘should be easy just need some tools i left behind’ he’s gone for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Comes back - legit 5-10 minutes was spent at my house on the job but he charged me for the 1 hour and 30 minutes it took him to ‘travel’ and find the ‘right equipment’. I live 2 minutes from a Bunnings - I’d love to know where he went and why it took him an hour and a half. Daylight robbery. They do come quickly to the job but so would I for the amount they charged me ($328).

We had dealings with this plumber before. A roof tile repairer/painter (who did a terrible job) blocked up our stormwater pipes with the broken tile pieces from replaced tiles on the roof. First storm, water was coming out everywhere from the downpipes. Roofing guy came back and ended up calling this plumber, all the while saying it wasn't his fault. Rhett was rude and condescending and said ' we ought be be grateful the roofer even came back to 'fix' this'. We sent them both away and got another plumber to come who unblocked the multiple pieces of broken tile in the pipes

Used Rhett Johnston Plumbing several times over the past 5 years, for major works, and sone smaller jobs. Highly recommend Rhett and his team for responsive , high-quality service. Also importantly Rhett, for his integrity with honest advice that ensures a quality outcome and saves money where possible, or going the "extra-mile" to respond, check a problem and resolve it. HIGHLY recommend this business. So nice to find honest and fair pricing these days. I made an after hours call re leaking toilet at one of my rental properties. Rhett was happy to come now but advised if mains could be turned off I would save a lot of money due to being after hours. Plumber was punctual at 7am next morning, friendly, very professional and tidy. End repair cost was one quarter of quote from a franchise company that tenant had organized the previous day to inspect and provide quote to repair. Invoiced us for over $540 to fix a leaking inlet valve in a toilet. The original invoice charged us for eight parts (three parts were invoiced in duplicate) and included $73 for an outlet valve that the plumber broke while fixing the other issue. The amended invoice was still $450. The business owner had a lot of attitude when we tried to discuss this with him. Interestingly, since then we have purchased 'the world's leading inlet valve' from Bunnings for $18 and fixed another leaking toilet ourselves in under half an hour.

What an absolutely fantastic experience. I contacted the office last week, they were super friendly and booked me in last minute for a new hot water system and a few other minor repairs. Luke attended site, he was super friendly and professional. The guys did a great job of replacing the hot water system and a few other things. They were super neat and fast! The invoicing is great as it gives you a perfect allocation of the costs incurred and the pricing was great. Highly recommend A++++++

Job done was good but took 2 weeks to finish a simple job. Not recommended because owner was rude and arrogant while discussing the unfair service charges on the invoice and the Labour charges were way too expensive for the simplicity of the job. Had to chase up several times to get the job completed. Don’t understand Why would a plumber charge Service fee when the customer is already paying for parts used and labour.

DO Not use this plumber. Couldn’t fix a simple hot water service. Brought the wrong part for the service then installed it incorrectly and left it to another plumber to fix because didn’t know then left us without hot water until another plumber came. He also threatened argued a 67 year old lady to pay the bill. If I ever encounter u reet after how u treated my mother I will make sure it will be ur last job

Responded to my Service Seeking ad and when rang quoted $150 - $250 to clear a blocked toilet. Charged over $500. Tradesman carelessly let our dog out of the yard - no apology. Contacted Rhett shortly after receiving the invoice to discuss concerns - didn’t respond for almost two weeks and when he finally did was rude and unprofessional. Definitely won’t be using their services again.

Rhett the owner was incredibly condescending and dismissive to me over the phone. Aggressively telling a distressed single lady with a flooded kitchen to "put your husband on the phone or someone who has half a clue!" is unacceptable. If that's how he speaks to customers before they've booked his services, imagine what the aftercare is like. Happily took my $850 job elsewhere. Avoid!

I have used Rhett's services a couple of times now at an investment property in Greenslopes and both times have been happy with their communication, workmanship and price. One job was for a roof leak and the other job was to replace toilets, taps etc for a water efficiency certificate. A description of works along with photos were provided at completion. Highly recommend these guys.

Guy calls me after posting a job on service seeking .I say a handyman is on site he can co-ordinate withwgume to quote the job. He proceeds to get upset and say he doesn't deal with handyman and doesn't want the job. Didnt even let me finish my sentence. Shocking attitude. Careful in giving these guys work. Can only imagine what the service would be like. Dodged a bullet.

These guys are my go-to problem solvers - they get the job done, fast and first time, and are a pleasure to have in the house. This was the third time they've been to my place: each time they went above and beyond to get me out of trouble, even when I've got myself into it in the first place... And fixes 1 and 2 are still going strong BTW!!

Expensive service. Ive been asked to email photos / videos to the office, so that it takes shorter trades time and less charge. Still the technician went away for supply which took half an hour and charged me for that as well as half hour service. I paid 329AUD to replace a leaking pressure reduction valve sitting under my water meter.

Saturday night emergency call out for a blocked toilet drain (always on a weekend!), called Top Hat and we had Dave to our place within an hour. Dave was friendly and effecient, and the bill was exceptionally well-priced, way less than we were expecting. Thanks to Frenchie, Rhett and their team for providing fantastic service!

Rhett did an amazing job of fixing a leaking pressure regulating valve that was embedded deep in our driveway. He was on time for quoting which was a very reasonable quote compared to some others.
