Hello blow is the letter I wrote to James Powdrill he is one of the associate director of whitegates. I have also written his response below. ITS BEEN ALMOST 2 WEEKS AFTER HE EMAILED ME AND NOTHING SINCE THEY JUST DONT CARE LONG AS YOU PAY ONE OF THE MOST RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCES IVE EVER HAD BY MALINA, absolutely shocking. Hello james, I am writing this letter out of frustration am not the type of person to write online reviews and things but your staff at the Leicester branch (melton road Leicester) are poor to say the least and have no idea what theyre doing, I shouldn’t really be that shocked because its been like that from the start and even the manger don’t seem like she gives two sh33s, and couldn’t even be bothered to call me call or even email me after about 10 calls and was told she would be and not even one response to this day. The latest issue the wifi has not been working for almost a month now! I have been passed from one person to other initially celeste was dealing with the matter, who was asking basic questions that she should have been asking the landlord??? like the account details of the wifi, after pointing out to her that she should be asking the landlord, she stopped emailing me then she must have thought I cant deal with him and then I was passed on to Millina (I think that’s her name) after promises of call backs vie heard nothing not even a email. She thought I was the land lord!!!! After about 4 calls she says I thought you was the land lord!!! She then promised me that if the land lord does not fix the issues within the week she would arrange for wifi to be set up and then charge the landlord after wards, after i explained I am paying for wifi and I need it for work and when advertised the property came with wifi and I am not happy to pay the full price when I am not getting all the services I am paying for. After that promise from Mallina, ive heard nothing that was 3 weeks ago. There been so many other issues from the start, just to mention one more, they let workers in the house without letting the residents knowing!!, and the work man switched off the fridge with all my food in it, adam hooley was dealing with issue at time if he told us work men where coming I would have moved all my food to a differet fridege. I came home at 10 to all my food ruined. I think he does not know how to use his phone ive never had a call from him ever on updates, after leaving him a voice message he was saying sorry at 11pm via text and not answering my calls. The customer service and commination is the worst I have ever seen in my life don’t understand how professional company can operate in this way and cannot wait for my tenancy is over with white gate / martin & co. and if I was I could afford to just get out the contract I would immediately. I will also be reporting this to the house standard there’s holes in the floor and exposed wiring. I will not be paying full rent until the wifi is fixed, as i am having to pay extra for a service that should be included. God knows when the last time the radiators were drained, the shower head is celotaped on, and the sofa is a is a joke !!! the extractor fan in the kitchen hasn’t work since I got there 7 months ago so the kitchens got grease everywhere. James response—— Thank you for your email. I can only apologise for the issues you are facing at 4 Towles Mill. I am in the process of investigating this matter with our team at Syston and your landlord and I will of course come back to you shortly with a full response. I am sorry you have also felt the need to leave a negative Google review as well. Please leave this matter with me for a short time and I will respond in full. Unfortunately my experience with Whitegates was not pleasurable. I rented via them for around 9 months. This was during a transition period, where they were going from Martin & co to Whitegates, although they were also known as Taylors? Problems begun from check-in day, where the representative didn't have the right keys and left me waiting for 4/5 hours to go and get the right keys. Whitegates, tried to charge me for a renewal of contract from a fixed term contract to a periodic rolling contract as I moved from the initial 6 months to a rolling monthly contract, I had to visit their branch and make clear to them they were in breach of the Assured short hold Tenancy agreement they retracted the charge, although this shows their lack of customer care, and basic contractual understanding. Inspections were scheduled with a reference of a charge for cancellations etc, and pictures were taken, without prior documented knowledge, (I have rented for 6 years with several agencies previously AJR, Nichols Bonfield (both great) and this has not previously happened. Whitegates, I recommend you document what happen during inspections in a welcome pack! Whilst a Tennant I reported issues with the boiler, which took 10+ weeks to get fixed, I was uncomfortable with tradesman visiting the property without my presence, this basic tenant right, created issues for me when trying to schedule repair appointments, it took a total of 5 visits from 2 separate plumbers to get the boiler fixed, that was about 2 hours to fix. I also reported via email to Whitegates other issues regarding leaking guttering, and a broken ceiling fan, neither of which were fixed, or even responded to. Overall their fees are amongst the highest in the industry, (as they are a national and more expensive than local firms, you will get passed from person to person, and not get the personal service you might expect from a local firm. Multiple emails I had sent them, simply did not get a response, it was also often difficult to speak to the right person. Based on other reviews I have read I think their strengths probably lie in sales rather than rentals

Awful customer service and administration processes. Moved out of a rented property in October and was advised to hold fire with standing orders etc until a reimbursement of £95 from last months rent was owed to me. I’ve since learnt that there was no need to keep the standing order active and at the beginning of December, another months rent came out which they then sent to the landlord. Whitegates are adamant that they can’t refund me my money until they get it back from the landlord. I’m still in the process of getting my money back from Whitegates and had spoken to citizens advice bureau concerning this as I was getting no where with Whitegates directly and extremely stressed. At one point (and then another) I was told that the money would be in my account in 7 working days and when it didn’t come through I found out that this was a lie and they could only apologise for their mistake but still couldn’t refund me my money. I had spoken to many staff members, including the associate directors of Whitegates who to this day are still “looking into it.” Don’t rent from these people unless you’ve have lots of time on your hands to call, email and escalate matters and to then be disappointed with lies and unreturned promised phone calls. ***** The reply from them below illustrates how useless they are. Whitegates transferred on the overpayment to the landlord accidentally out of contract without making the necessary checks and are not prepared to take any ownership for their mistake. Until THEY recoupe the money THEY sent to the landlord in THEIR ERROR, they are unprepared to reimburse me. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!

I rarely leave reviews but feel I have to post this as a warning to any landlord thinking of employing Whitegates as a letting agent. I can not comment on their performance selling property but if the same personnel are involved then I would advise caution. As single property landlord here was my experience over the last 12 months. They allowed my tenancy to run up over 6 months of arrears and still did not notify me. They calculated the arrears incorrectly, mishandled the repossession, provided no communication and refused to reply to phone calls or emails. Provided poor or incorrect information with regard to recovering the debt through the small claims court (in the end I did it all myself). Refused to provide me with the information needed to recover my deposit meaning it took over 6 months and my suing the company through the small claims court to recover my deposit. Even after the CCJ I had to execute a warrant and send the baliffs in to recover my funds! They have sent a statement showing the money is being paid, but have still not paid as of this morning. That is typical of this business which says one thing and does another. Save yourself a lot of trouble and deal with people who do what they say, know what they are talking about, and actually communicate with you! I have rarely experienced such terrible service from any company.

I regret choosing this company to sell my house, I have had very little viewings, very bad service all round. Viewing appointments being the most inconvenient EXPERIENCE I have ever had, agent not turning up to the booked time slot, customers always arriving before the agent and asking to view without supervision because there is no representative from white gates that has showed up(no covid pre-caution). Absolutely no contact from the estate agent (mahul) to notify of any changes or delays. Appointments being scheduled for mostly weekends where they expect you (the customer) to show your house to strangers, especially in the current climate that is the most ridiculous thing i have heard, and if the agent hasn't turned up they tell you to do their job for them. Price was exaggerated and was later reduced due to no Interest. I do believe this company is a total joke and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone ever. The clients that came to view were mostly disappointed with whitegates and the only answer I've heard is excuses like we can reschedule. Stay well away from excuse Gates they are awful. I had the 'pleasure' of dealing with Whitegates as both a Tenant and a first time buyer. Just my luck that the agent selling the property was Whitegates. Extremely unprofessional with a disgusting Property Management Team. Namely James Powdrill and Mitul Gadhia who is also the CEO. My hot water went in the property several times as a tenant and they were absolutely useless at trying to solve the problem. Very luckily for me the Landlord sold the property and the New Landlord resolved the issue straight away. When it came to buying my house they would cancel my viewings an hour before. This credit goes to Andrew Gaunt. And when I completed and called to arrange pick up for the rest of my keys after already being in the property a week. Mahul Patel said he has to 'double check' if I'm completed. I don't know how much more ignorant and useless a company can be.

I never seem to find the time to leave a review but feel in this case I really have to pass on how happy we have been with the service from Whitegates Leicester office . We had 2 properties to sell and choose Whitegates to look after both sales, from the valuation with Ian we felt confident with his knowledge of house prices in our area and a real nice chap to have in your home. After getting offers on both houses in just two weeks we couldnt have been happier. We are now almost at completion on both properties and I have to mention Brannon and Chelsea at the office , a total credit to the company, no matter how many times I called with countless questions they are always calm warm and friendly and helped keep us focused on the end goal. We never plan on moving again ... Ever!! But if we did they would be my first call. Would highly recommend. Carl

The first interactions were very professional but after they had secured our business the service was not of the same standard. After checking our property listing we could see a bedroom had been missed off, which took several calls to get corrected. It was agreed Whitegates would carry out the viewings due to us working full time, however when a potential buyer turned up 5 minutes late on a Friday evening the estate agent had already left, leaving the potential buyer sat outside. After some time we decided to remove the house from sale but 4 weeks later we are still trying to get Whitegates to remove our property from their website. Currently Whitegates are still attempting to arrange new viewings and refuse to remove our property from their website despite numerous telephone calls, live chats and email confirmations.

Would give minus 5 if I could! The worst of the worse agents out there! BUYERS/VENDORS BEWARE! They care about nothing but their commission, wont try push your sale through AT ALL. We had to do all the leg work for our place that my husband was buying, they chased our solicitors once in eight months and only to see if there was a completion date. They failed to inform us of key information which was detrimental to the sale and had we known wouldn't have purchased this house. Award winning is complete BS they dont even know what customer service is, put a complaint in beginning of October was told a reply would be given in 15 working days and we are still waiting. If this is what they call service I wonder how bad their average service would be. Never ever again would we go through Whitegates or recommend them.

Made an appointment for valuation to sell my property & agreed to meet their recommended mortgage adisadv after my property had been valued as I have already discussed my new mortgage with my existing provider. Mortgage Advisor not valuer eventually arrived for appointment as he had been given incorrect address by office even though I had confirmed by text. Valuer had rang in sick on day of my appointment, which I appreciate can happen, however I do not expect a change to appointment without prior agreement by me! Mortgage Advisor was very professional & apologetic, said he would give feedback to office & progress re-appointment. No response to date, needless to say if this is treatment of prospective customers, I will not be placing business with them. Appalling customer service!

After seeing an apartment within my first viewing I knew it was exactly what I wanted and brannon talked with me whenever I had questions being a first time buyer. He gave me advice that I highly required and supported me when I didn't know who to contact. I was struggling after being given a date of completion and then turning up to find out It had been delayed Whitegate as a team really calmed me down and brannon and scott showed face and where there as a point of contact when I was on the phone all day they gave me contact numbers and helped me with knowledge on who to contact once again Lorraine who also works in the office really pushed for things to progress and worked hard even when unable to be in person constantly keeping me in the loop

I had the worst experience with whitegates I wouldn t recommend them at all.They have a policy of keeping you waiting and delaying every proceedure to the most.On top of that I lost about £1000 because of their lack of consistency.Even though you might consider the permanent solution that you provided enough I should inform you that clients shouldn t pay for your offices mistakes and you ahould be more carefull on what apartments you suggest.You didin t evem have an idea of what the property was.the only window had access to a yard full of garbadge that smelled terrible so apart from the rest it was very unhealthy for anyone to live there. I hope my feedback will give you the opportunity to change your policy.

I would give 0 star if I could.Totally waste of time. The worst purchase experience ever. Waited for half hour for viewing, and then was told, nobody shows up. I have to chase them daily for any update. Complain to director twice, did not help at all. And viewer has no knowledge at all. All he said is I have to ask office for details. Waited for 6 months for one purchase. Then I was told, they cannot sell the property. Cost me six months of time, fees for their broker advisor, survey. Whitegates has the most nice looking office, however, they are not check their properties, they do not care about their customer, they are not professional!

Unprofessional estate agents with an inaccurate description of a house that they are selling. They stated that a house had a driveway and off-road parking, however there was not a dropped kerb which means that parking on the small space infront of the house is illegal . The property owner said that he was the owner of whitegates estate agency. He was so unprofessional that he put us off buying the property. Strange to believe that the changes that he had done to the house made the property look worse than it had done when previously sold. It took a long while for anyone to phone back from the estate agents.

Scott Haines gave us an excellent service. He kept us updated as to the process of our sale; oversaw. the valuation and sale of our property; and arranged several revisits to our new property. Additionally, he responded to our request for delivery of the keys on the day of completion. He was actually waiting for us when we arrived along with the removal van. Although this has been a stressful move for us Scott has made it easier. We would also like to thank Chelsea for the efficient way she followed up the progress of our sale and purchase, keeping us updated at each stage. Thank you Scott and Chelsea.

It's really a shame that they cannot manage their viewings and they mess everything up! We arranged a viewing but last minute they called me and they asked me to go to the flat and ask for someone else (named Danny) to buzz me in and show me around! I've explained that I won't do that because I'm a woman and I don't want to just enter into a house with a stranger and I want everything to happen in a professional way. Then they didn't know what to say and they promised to called me back and rearrange the viewing! What was that???!!! Never happen anything like this in my life!!!

Very appauling. Rented a property & was given notice to evacute. Reason: Landlord entered the property at 2am and i was not happy.. My elderly mother lives with me and the landord says its there property. Landlord left there fridge etc in the rear garage and i was told work around the space. I evacuated property as notice, my deposit is being cut as the front garden grass has not been cut, window handle broken. I have had the carpets steam cleaned, rear garden cut and spent on decorating. Whitegates has not helped me in this situation at all. Appauling.

It is a good agency with a wide range of selection. The agents are very good at securing business. However, when it comes to the end of the rental contract, I do not know who to contact as the agent who is responsible to my contract is no longer in the company. Since it is a big company, there is no definite people I could make contact with. The administration within is terrible. It took about a week's time to reply each of my email. Up till this moment, there is no clear solution in how I can end the tenancy properly.

Is it just me or does everyone have to wait ages for their call to be answered....and everytime I press 1 for sales why do I get put on hold for ages and then I get somebody from the lettings side answer my call and tells me I should of pressed 1 for sales ...which I did..then they take my details and hopefully someone from sales should return my call...I appreciate companies like to cut staff numbers but to keep costumers waiting for ages..as if your doing them a favour. .is unacceptable

Trying to get the deposit back been 11 days and still not answering. No update from the property management Mitul Gaddi or how is he called .. really is not nice ! Worst agency smooth !! Rules surrounding returning a deposit If your landlord holds your deposit (so should be protected in the Insured scheme), the landlord should pay your deposit back within 10 days of your request for the deposit to be returned. A tenant cannot request the return of their deposit before the tenancy ends.

Tried to sell my property with them, via their agent Andrew Gaunt. he told me he had an "investor" and he was good to go.... months passes , They refused to answer my calls and even tried blackmailing me over email( saying I was in contract and I couldn't pull out of the sale even though 4 months had passed from the time time me accepting their offer and the property was still not sold as their "investor" couldn't secure a mortgage !

Having changed Agents a couple of times, we decided to give Whitegates (Leicester) a chance as a newer name on the market. They succeeded in selling our house within a few months whereas their more expensive high street competitors significantly failed over an 18 month period. I would strongly recommend anyone locally to consider Whitegates, their footprint locally is visibly increasing as with the 'SOLD' banner on their boards !

It has been 5 weeks since moving in and I still have no central heating due to a broken boiler. I have called whitegates at least 20 times and sent countless emails but this issue has not been resolved. I regret trusting this agency, they have wasted hours of my time and caused a lot of stress. If the boiler is broken the property should not even be advertised. The staff are friendly but incompetent and out of their depth.

From the viewing that was arranged at a time suitable for both of us to attend, to the swift referencing and move in date. Worst experience iv ever had with an estate agent paid holding deposit for a house for them to keep changing what they needed for us to rent the property we did everything they asked then to be told another applicant had the property even though I had paid the holding deposit so they shouldn't of let another person apply until our application had been finished. Also.wouldnt give holding deposit back.

They were actually good which is a nice surprise, with a mature approach and seemingly no silly games. Well done for your perseverance and patience, we sold our house! Would suggest being slightly more influential during the negotiation process but I understand it is a sensitive process, but that's just a personal preference no reflection on the quality of service. Use them to sell your house!

Rented from this company for nearly 3 years. Absolutely atrocious customer service, delays in liaising with owners for repairs. I wouldn't recommend renting from them at all! Infact they are not worth a 1*
