Located inside the Manulife Center, take the escalators up to locate this slightly awkward Cineplex location. By awkward, it's placed inside another building that other people have gotten lost and missed the theatre. Thank goodness for Manulife's information booths. Also, their theatre's aren't the Cineplex's higher incline seating. It feels more of a low slope auditorium. For some of the shorter audience, I would straight out skip this location. If you have someone that's taller than you and you're stuck with the lower sloped theatres (like #8), and you didn't order the mid-rows, good luck losing 30-40% of the screen. Both the VIP and regular movie theatre seating were alright. Definitely leaning towards the old cinema vibes in here. It feels like they need to overhaul this theatre to be more aligned to the rest of their other chains like Yonge & Dundas or Queensway with higher viewing from all seating and newer seats. The screens feel much smaller for the depth of the theatre #8. (The picture of the seats I have are from the far back row of theatre #8). In terms of service, they had a nice employee checking for the Proof of Vaccination and ID at the front of the theatre before entering (very great personality)! They also have 2-3 booths available to order tickets in person. Although, I highly recommend ordering ahead of time to reserve seating. They have two sets of bathrooms but unfortunately the ones located near cinema #7 & #8 were closed. All the customers had to use the washrooms by cinema #3 & #4 which caused a huge line up. Overall, quality of the cinema could be really improved. But if you're looking for one of the older cinema vibes, this one is for you!

My review here is mainly about the VIP experience. Buy your VIP tickets at another theatre. The good: The servers were incredibly attentive. Our food was yummy and delivered right before our movie started. The bad: The VIP theatres are tiny, which isn't usually a problem, except that the aisles are all very thin which makes it difficult for servers to deliver food and for movie-goers to navigate without at least stepping on a few toes. The seats are a little uncomfortable but not terrible, but the tables are absolutely tiny. Only just big enough to fit a plate of food, while praying it doesn't get knocked over by someone crab-walking to their seat. The cherry on top is the fact that the VIP theatres are located IN the lobby of this Cineplex, with barely any sound proofing. Which means whenever there's a line to get food, or a crowd just entering or exiting a movie, you can hear all the chatter just outside of the door while your movie plays. This was incredibly distracting and something I have never experienced at a Cineplex before. If you're looking to watch a movie at this theatre, don't go to VIP. If you're looking for a VIP experience, visit another theatre.

Consistent customer experience especially for a VIP experience is essential. I cannot even begin to explain how shook I was that I paid full premium price for a screen the size of an elementary school projector and seats the same as economy. This is this most pathetic VIP movie theatre I have ever experienced and cannot believe I paid for this. The regular theatre is more of a vip experience than this and I could have used my scene points and used and watched the movie for free but instead I paid the premium price to watch a movie from a minuscule screen and uncomfy barely reclining chairs. I will never go to this cineplex ever again. I would pay $7 max for this experience but instead my friend and I paid almost $100 for a lack of resolution movie experience. Customer experience is everything and I just can’t believe in such a luxurious area like young and bloor this theatre wouldn’t invest in actually creating a VIP movie watching experience. Incredibly shook and disappointed. Still not sure if this is real or if I’m in a movie.

Staff are trained very well to be polite and courteous, but I give star because of bad movie watching experience due to lack of policies in place concerning the horrible rising trend of appeasing idiots texting with phones during the movies. Back in the day there was zero tolerance made known by movie ushers and even a movie screen notice against idiots using phones during movies. There has to be a crackdown against idiots otherwise being an idiot becomes normalized. It's up to managers to be proactive otherwise they are largely the problem of growing the idiot population, that means YOU IDIOT STUDENTS who look smart but don't act smart. And as others have stated in large numbers already in reviews, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THE VIP ROOM OPTION. One thing is that no attendants are present during the movie playing. If you want something, you have leave the room and go searching for an usher. All this is part of why I rarely go to watch movies at theaters anymore.

This is my first time going to this location and try out their VIP service. The staffs were very friendly, and they have an excellent customer service. The overall ambiance is great, and is thoroughly cleaned. The food/drinks service is consistent as all the other location I have been to; though the price mark-up is really high as always (but this is not the main reason of my 3-stars review). The reason for my dissatisfaction is the VIP seat. Considering the ticket price is similar to other locations, it is not worth watching VIP here (unless if you got it for free through points/rewards). The seat is almost identical to regular seats with the exception of small table tray, and some extra leg room. Another downside is the screen in VIP Studio #1 is not immersive or wide enough, especially if you are seating in the middle to back rows. However, the sound quality is still good.

I don't plan on ever going back to this theatre, especially the VIP. Our movie was only screening in VIP and we were okay with that, but at no point did our experience feel "VIP". The seats were so old that they squeaked loudly with every little movement, which was disruptive during the film. There were no footrests like most VIP spots these days. There was barely any room to exit the isle either in case you needed to use the restroom. Re parking, we received incorrect information from Guest Services about validation, and ended up having to pay 20 dollars on exit. Bottom line, movies are already overpriced these days, but for this one, the low value for the high cost (~$75 for 2 people (2 VIP tickets, 1 regular popcorn, 1 small drink, and parking)) was too apparent not to leave a cautionary review.

PRO: Staff nice. Location nice. Good place to go if you want to avoid the zoo or downtown. CON: I don’t recommend going for any big releases in AUDITORIUM 8 for a couple reasons: If you’re short it sucks. The seating isn’t layered height wise like newer cinemas so if you are stuck behind a tall person you are not seeing the movie. Another issue I had recently was the sound. I went to see spider-verse and the sound was too quiet. It was odd because the trailers were at the right volume. The last bad experience was the Hateful 8 road show years ago. The image was out of sync. I think they projected it wrong and someone had to go and complain after the movie started and they had to reset and restart. LONG STORY SHORT: Don’t go to Audi 8. It is an older hall as the nice staff will admit.

I have had nothing but terrible experiences at this location. Do not go here if you want to enjoy your theatre experience. There are other locations in the city that will be more considerate of your time. Nothing to do with the staff, who are all friendly. The theatres are old and outdated, the sound quality is terrible and the VIP experience is LAUGHABLE. I tried to give this location another chance and immediately regretted it. It is not okay to charge $25 for a VIP ticket, only to use a screen that is smaller than my living room rug. I had to request a refund after about 10 minutes since I could not stare at the grainy projection any longer. They should not be showing latest releases on screens that small it's so disrespectful to the movie and to the audience

WORST VIP THEATER EVER Yeah that’s a bit overdramatic but I got your attention…and it’s true. The VIP theaters are tiny. You pay extra money for a compact seating area with no extra space. My seat was always being bumped by people walking in the aisle behind me. The seats are old and don’t appear to be cleaned very well. The screen itself is small. It looks like someone’s private screening room and not a movie theater. Also the screen had a bunch of impurities and you could see them during the film so the image wasn’t always clear. The server that took orders was nice but the girl bringing the food to people bumped into me a few times, and handed my food to me over my shoulder which was awkward. Anyways. Avoid this “VIP” theatre at all costs.

  • Lianne Smilezzz

Shoutout to Camila for grabbing my popcorn appreciate you she’s the reason I’m giving 4 stars. Although the staff at concessions and entrance were great! The seat in VIP was comfy but I wish it would hold the spot where it reclined instead of moving… I would have given the service person in the auditorium a 1 star… because he told me I had to go back to the concession to change my seat location, I understand this is a process, but the movie was about to start he could have made an exception given I'd miss the beginning portion of the movie and most of the seats we're already taken, no one was going to show up to the movie at this point realistically. Also the VIP server didn’t seem mindful of the projector because he kept walking past it…

We went to see the Barbie movie here with my mother who is quite elderly and doesn’t get to movies very often. The theatres was accessible and the staff were very kind and helpful. We bought our tickets at the concession stand and the young man complimented my mother on her necklace, which made it all seem much kinder and friendlier than the usual ticket buying experience at a busy theatre. They also thanked us for coming out to see the movie when we left. It’s nice when a theatre you enjoy also has kind and pleasant staff; makes the whole experience that much better. My 5th star is for the sweet kid at the concession stand who took the time to make conversation with my mother. This could possibly be her last time at a movie theatre.

I'm a big fan of theaters. My girlfriend took us to go see Spider-Man right before restrictions kicked in. I was very surprised to find out that a premium VIP theater was smaller than any regular or independent theater I had ever been to. The seating was cram packed and not the quality I have come to expect from any vip cinema. The Sound was also very quiet, where it was noticeable to hear other people talking throughout the showing. The most unfortunate part was the staff had explained that this is known as the "leftover theater". As if this is common knowledge, I still can't wrap my head around paying a premium price for a sub par theater, when they could have posted a notice online or at the box office. Very disappointed

  • V K

After spending extra money to get the VIP tickets we expected the theatre and service to be on par with what we had paid for. However, this was maybe the worst movie theatre experience my partner and I have ever had. The ‘VIP’ theatre is tiny, the chair are uncomfortable, the screen is tiny as well, and the sound quality is terrible. Would have been better off watching the movie at home. The service at the ‘VIP’ theatre was nonexistent, we had arrived to the theatre well before the movie started and the servers did not come to check up on us at all - we had to find them. The lack of service was particularly frustrating since it is effectively what we were paying extra for as there were no other VIP features to this theatre.

PURCHASERS OF VIP BEWARE!!!!!! I hate to do this but if I could go less than 1 star I would. I went for opening night of The Batman at VIP Varsity and boyyyy did I F up. 1st) the screen is laughable. I mean laughable. My 80 inch curve at home is surely almost as big. (2nd) the sound..... Hahahahahaha I could barely hear Batman speak (you know he speaks in almost a whisper) 3rd) if the door opens during the show there's ZERO sound proofing so it's like the whole lobby is walking through your theater. I couldn't be more dissapointed with a theater experience especially for a movie I was SO excited about. I'm heading off to watch The Batman in IMAX again tomorrow to get the proper viewing but I really shouldn't have to.

  • Ali Farhadi

I had a great time. The VIP accommodations added a touch of luxury to the movie-watching experience. The comfortable seating and spacious layout made for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. The overall atmosphere helped create an immersive experience that made Beau Is Afraid actually tolerable. However, I noticed that the ticket prices for the VIP experience were quite steep, which might deter some budget-conscious moviegoers. Then again, I don't usually use VIP services anyways. Additionally, the snack options were limited, and the concession lines were sometimes long. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a premium cinema experience with top-notch comfort and ambiance, Varsity and VIP Cineplex is a great choice.

  • Mark Stenabaugh

Staff were friendly and helpful. Theater is very clean. Full staff were on duty between movies to clean before the next showtime. Seats are comfortable with good viewing ranges to the screen. My only beef is the prices that are charged. Over half the theater was empty. Lower the prices and you will get more people. The price for popcorn, coke, and twizzlers (couldn't seem to buy just a coke and popcorn) was $26.00!! What? I could go to a restaurant and get a whole meal for that price. I think Cineplex needs to reevaluate their prices during these economic times. Patty Conklin always said, "A fast Nicole is better than a slow dime." BTW, he was the founder of Conkin shows and midway.

  • aoki kyo

This is my favourite movie theatre in the entire city, but why the only 2 stars?because the old ladies who were cleaning the women’s bathroom are insane. It’s been quite few times they just wait outside of my toilet, and they make really large noise to let me know they are there! I feel really pressured to use the washroom. This is not the first time it happened. I have never experienced anything like this in any other theatres. I was in the cinema 8 for my movies today, all the cup holders are dirty with a-lot of used gums stuck inside! It’s so gross!Maybe instead waiting me right outside of my toilet, cleaning these places first?

  • Corbomite Meatballs

Saw a movie here on a Sat afternoon, and felt that for the price, it was a reasonably pleasant experience (once you ignore the other people in the theatre staring at their phones during the movie, talking loudly, fighting with the elementary-age school kids at a PG movie, etc.). Concessions actually offered legit different sizes of beverages (that's how I know I'm not in 'merica) and it was at the price you'd normally expect for a movie. Theater was very clean, comfy reclining seats, and without a lot of annoying ads to watch before the movie. If I was local, would be a theatre I'd go back to again.

  • Kevin Church

VIP seats at this theatre are really bad compared to other Cineplex VIPs I've been to. They don't recline at all. Theatre 4 has some of the worst viewing angles I've ever experienced in a movie theatre. The projector is so low that if somebody walks through the aisle, their head will cast a shadow on the screen. There's barely any rake, so if you're a bit shorter, the people in the row in front of you can block your view of the screen. All this, at the price of a usual Cineplex VIP ticket. Not worth the money. I won't go back. I'll go to Yonge-Dundas instead.

  • Amy

The large new VIP theatres are fantastic. I have nothing but good things to say about them. HOWEVER, the small older ones are very bad and need a renovation. First of all they are very, very cold. Also, the seats are so old that when someone moves they creak heavily and it’s quite disruptive. Lastly, the picture itself is not completely clear. This could also be a symptom of the cinema being so small and every seat being so close to the screen. I am sticking to the large theatres until these small ones become more comfortable.

  • Talissa Oliveira

They can’t call this VIP! It’s not VIP service! The staff is not the greatest, they do their job, the screen is small. They do tell you the seat is not a recliner but it’s not even comfortable! The sound is terrible!! Terrible sound, you can even hear people moving on their chairs because the movie sound was terrible. Terrible experience! Terrible! Just because they bring you food to your chair, they can’t sell this experience as VIP experience and I’ve been to the VIP of cineplex Yonge and Eglinton and Dundas square.

  • Mark Datuin

This Cineplex location is one of the best in the city. The staff is always courteous, from the servers at the VIP area to even the cleanup crew who always wishes us a good night as we exit. The film selection is also worth noting because they play a lot of limited new release films and hidden gems that are not usually found at large multiplexes (it's not just about the blockbusters). The only issue is the VIP cinemas at Varsity are tiny in comparison to Yonge-Dundas. The regular auditoriums are perfect.

  • Emil Jayatileke

The best kept secret theatre as theres not even a hint of a Cineplex existing here from the outside. This makes it hard to get to (go upstairs and then upstairs again once you enter the Manulife Centre), but it’s a blessing in disguise ‘cause the result is less crowds compared to Yonge/Dundas and Scotiabank Theatre. Once you finally find it, the experience is great. For a regular price movie, there is assigned seating and reclining comfy seats (at least in Aud#2). I can imagine the VIP is even better.

  • Lynne O'Connor

The Varsity Cinema located in the central part of Toronto made it very easy for two friends living in opposite areas of the city to meet up. On the subway line amid the lively atmosphere of Bay and Bloor, it has become our favourite go to for lunch and a movie. We found the staff to be quite attentive offering great customer service. Rafiq assisted us with our tickets on our recent visit and he was extremely welcoming and helpful. We are looking forward to our next visit at the Varsity Cinema.

  • Richard Morgan

Varsity and VIP is nice. It's fairly clean. Washrooms are huge! Only issue is in the Manulife Centre there needs to be waaaay more signage on where the cinema is located starting from the parking garage. When you get into the elevator from the garage there is nothing to tell you what floor the cinema is on or where it's located. I took a chance and got off on the first floor and wandered all over looking for some clue where to go and then I finally had to go to guest services and ask them.

  • mary wiebe

You can’t call this VIP. The seats are brutally uncomfortable. They don’t recline, but rather they sit very straight. By the end of the movie, you’re aching, you’re not relaxed at all. I ordered a showtime Caesar and I could’ve boughten the same thing from my local LCBO that tasted better than this and paid half the price. The screen was small, the sound was poor and quiet. You could clearly hear the people around you. All and all, not a good experience and I Do Not recommend

  • Tawseef Khan

The entrance was hard to find as it’s inside the Manulife Centre and there aren’t any signs outside to guide you. We went round the building twice before we found it. The premises are clean and frequently sanitised so it felt nice and safe. You will need proof of vaccination to get inside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Sadly, the choice of snacks is very limited. Only popcorn, nachos, hot dogs and few chips. We wanted to have fries or chicken which weren’t on the menu.

  • Mary-Elizabeth Gilbert

I just went to see another film there last night with a friend and had a great time! The ticket process was great online, the staff were friendly. This location has long been a favourite of mine to attend. Even years ago I would walk to the Varsity to see a movie and then home as it is fairly close to where I live. It made a great exercise/entertainment night for me. I've even enjoyed the VIP a time or two. Great place to go to see a movie! I highly recommend it!

  • Matthew Wanigasekera

Rafiq, Danae, and Daniel with Cineplex Cinemas Varsity And VIP (55 Bloor) - you are an honest team, with a clear passion for people and executing service to the highest degree. You have made our night out and we will definitely be back. I also have to say this is the first time in 20+ years of theatre going that I have been greeted at the door with such a warm, genuine and united welcome. It was a really nice touch. Shout outs to this team and location. 5 star!

  • Christine

This has got to be the worst VIP in Toronto. The seats suck, they don’t tilt backwards like an office chair would. The chairs are tough and firm leather so overall, just not comfortable. The screen is TINY. I was in absolute shock at how small the screen is. This theatre should not be charging the same price as other VIP theatres because it is a significantly worse experience. We debated about asking for our money back and just going to a different theatre.

  • M Jafer

Regular seatings are amazing and comfortable! I love visiting here twice a month, at the least. Watching a high energy block buster film in Screen 3 was a ride; even if you book a seat on the farthest sides, you will be immersed! However, the VIP lounge wasn't immersive, I understand the service is to cater food and accommodate drinks for the movie-goers.. however, I felt that the sound system, the chair and screen's positioning was not on par.

  • payam tavakoli

This theatre is so old the rows of seats aren't angled so the person sitting in front of you blocks your view. The screen is about half the size of other theatres and I don't think that's an exaggeration. The sound system sounded old too. It was my first time here and unfortunately it ruined it for me because I went here to watch the Oppenheimer which otherwise would've been a very good movie. I hope they either shut down or change over.

  • Ama A

VIP Experience is probably the worst of any locations. Staff were friendly, but it did not feel like VIP that im used to at other locations. Seats felt old and cheap, and the seats in front of me weren't low enough so i had to keep my head up high for an unobstructed view. And if you sit on one end, since the seats are so close, for the server to pass through everyone has to keep getting up. Not worth the extra at this location.

  • Jay Kansara

Worst movie experience ever. The whole screen was keep on blurring out and screen was flickering all the time. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE. Ironically the name has VIP in it. The staff members apologised for technical issue but the manager was the worst one. He avoided the crowd, probably because he didn’t have a courage to take ownership of what happened. I don’t know his name but he was the one with ‘I love barbie’ sticker on it.

  • Andrew Steele

Mis-booked a ticket due to the long weekend confusing Friday/Saturday dates. They wont change the dates. Only cancel a ticket and tell you to rebook. But they keep a small "booking fee". How about some customer service instead of baked in non-refundable fees just to adjust a mis-booked ticket? Really encourages me to go back to theaters... sad. Won't be heading back to the theater anytime soon after that interaction.

  • Kenneth Kimmes

This location is mobility accessible, however there are a couple theatres that have steps to get into the theatre. Just ask a staff member and they can assist you to bypass the stairs. The staff are very friendly and ready to assist. The location has a nice lounge area that serves alcohol and food as well. The lounge overlooks Bay Street. This is one of my favourite movie theatres that feels more personal and local.

  • A K

The VIP experience sucked. Except for ordering the food from the seat - I had zero vantage literally. Waste of money and worse experience. I have been to VIP to other Cineplex locations- where the seats are so cozy, folding type for the legs/necks/back etc with lots of space. I will never go to the VIP in this cinemas again. I am giving two stars for the regular screens and the staff/service.

  • Mary Gillmeister

This cinema shows the prestige films I enjoy so I'm a frequent visitor. VIP rooms are very small "screening room" style but the large auditoriums are nicely appointed. Great licenced lounge, very comfortable seating and with nice views. Various premium snacks available at the concession counter and a tropical fish tank all add to the ambience. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean and tidy.

  • Alejandro Fernandez

Their website and login system is terrible. There must be an option to buy a ticket without having to create an account. We are in the 21st century guys, wake up and move on !! don't try to gather and sell our info/data. A user sometimes just wants to buy a ticket and leave your website as soon as possible. No need for email and cellphone verification. Seat viewer not working.

  • Mike Wilkomirsky

Worst Cineplex theatre in Toronto, by far. They have constant issues with the projectors, air conditioning and chairs literally breaking. I've gone to lots of movies here over the years (mainly due to the easy location from where I work) and i need to stop fully because the staff and management are totally incompetent. If you really want to see a movie, find another theatre.

  • Leonard Swartz

One of the most customer-friendly movie theatres in the city! BRING EARPLUGS (to prevent hearing loss during the MANY ads and trailers!… fortunately, they decrease the sound once the feature film comes on). Comfortable seats, friendly staff, great choice of salty/sugary/saturated-fat snacks, excellent video projection… and MOST importantly: very good selection of movies!

  • Fiona

Went for the VIP experience. Seats weren't that comfy, no foot rests. Arrived right on the hour and were told we were too late to order food from the menu. Rushed through the popcorn stand, only to watch over 10mins of previews (wished the ticket agent had been more aware of the length of preview showings). Meh. Felt just like a regular viewing, nothing special.

  • Jupiter

I've been going to this theatre for over 20 years and it has a charm that no other theatre in the city has. It's so cozy, elegant and warm. Rafiq is a true gentleman and hands-down the best theatre manager I have ever met in my life. He makes me feel so respected and cared for as a customer and you can tell he's passionate about film. Fantastic theatre!

  • AJ

worst movie theatre experience Ive ever had in my life. despite the situation, only one staff member was kind to me last night. thank u to that individual, i wish i got their name, it truly meant a lot. kindness goes a long way and I hope your staff can be more respectful to people with differing abilities and or mental health challenges in the future.

  • Lisa King

Do yourself a favour and DO NOT go to the “VIP” theatre, I was shocked when I saw how small the theatre was. I promise you will be very disappointed. If you want a true vip movie experience, go to Landmark Cinema . Besides the vip experience, the regular theatres are great, food overall is like any other and staff was friendly and informative

  • Mary Liz

They should have a time limit to arrive before if you want to have food serve to your seat in the VIP lounge. I missed a lot of the beginning of the movie I was seeing because things still had to be delivered to people 10 minutes into the movie. + the projector was so low that when someone in the back row stood up, it blocked the screen.

  • Joel Herzog

Be careful when picking a seat and theatre here. Considering this theatre had a substantial renovation not long ago, it’s shocking that the seating is not the typical stadium seating now found in most Cineplex theatres. Good thing there was no one in front of us or we would have had a heck of a time reading the subtitles. Cinema 8.

  • Anne U

Varsity VIP is totally not worth it. We were 5 people in the theatre. One person put all their stuff on my assigned seat. Not a problem since we were so few. But then the 3 people behind me, clearly friends, made loud comments and laughed all through the movie. Did not stop even when shushed. VIP was a waste of time and money.

  • Matt R

VIP is awful at this location - the theatre is right next to the lobby / concession area, so if you are seeing anything that isn't action all you can hear is the crowds in the lobby. Every chair in here needs to be looked at, if anyone slightly moves, the chairs squeak so loud. Not worth the premium ticket price at all.

  • Ronan Gallagher

The VIP experience here is awful compared to usual standards. Tiny screen with uncomfortable seats that squeak with every movement. The picture was also really pixelated like you are watching it on an old projector. Never had this experience in any of the other Cineplex theatres so best to just avoid this location.

  • AL

No timeplay and the seats aren’t tiered enough, so no matter where you sit, you have a chair in front partially blocking the screen. What I like about the theatre is that it’s usually less crowded, and smaller. Has a Starbucks inside but they charged me $5 for a hot chocolate that was more like frothed milk

  • Vivian W

Outdated with inconsistent viewing experiences at different auditoriums. 1, 5, 8 have audio system issues that can mess up the sound to a distracting level at times. Seats are often uncomfortable and noisy. Poor air circulation so cinemas can smell a bit. Staff is friendly but I’ll be avoiding this location.

  • Daniel Landry

Expected VIP seats which this was not! It has the service but very old barely reclining seats with no space. Glad I had my coat for lumbar support. Should not call this VIP…they are setting themselves up for disappointed customers who expect confortable & adjustable seats. Buyer beware. I will not be back.

  • Josh Clavir

Be warned that Cineplex will charge you an "online booking fee" if you accidentally choose the wrong day or time for your tickets and need a refund, in order to rebook. I made this mistake once and caught it within minutes and they still charge you - not even sure that is legal. Terrible theatre chain.

  • Harshan SP

Seats and the whole arrangement are really bad!! Its so old school. You can’t even see the whole screen if someone tall sits in front of you! Better avoid the location if you need a better cinematic experience If anyone’s giving this 5 stars , i 100% say they’ve never watched movies in theatres before

  • Krista F

We went to the VIP movie theatre and I wouldn’t recommend. The room is so small, it’s like you’re watching a movie in a small box. For the room size and screen, it doesn’t justify the higher ticket price. The price should definitely be a lot lower, it pales in comparison to the Queensway theatre.

  • Dwight Baker

The seats are comfortable, but the gradient of the floor was too low, so you're forced to look upward to avoid an unimpeded view of the screen theatre #7 just poor construction. Kills the viewing pleasure because you have to be making an effort to see above the back of the seats in front of you

  • Nicolas Iguzquiza

If I could give it no stars I would. To put it simply, the VIP is HORRIBLE. Seats do not recline at all and the size of the screen is as big as my tv. This is the equivalent of the imax. They should warn people that this is not a full VIP experience. NEVER COMING BACK AND I'M GETTING A REFUND.

  • Alaleh - FoodyTO

It’s a well-maintained complex and they movies i. offer regular, iMax and VIP. They have a bar that you can sit and enjoy some drinks and snacks before the movie starts or order some at VIP. The seats are comfortable and rather clean. It’s also accessible by subway which is convenient.

  • T R

the seating in some auditoriums are seriously so horrible like the outdated seating arrangement from the 90s where it is all the same level meaning other people's head are in your view. the VIP is a disgrace - it is a scam and the screen is smaller than a TV. needs serious renovations.

  • Robert Throop

I'm biased. I live in the building. That said, it's a well managed multiplex with a good staff. It also has one of the quietest and most comfortable bars downtown. They need to improve their beer selection but otherwise a great little hide-away even if you are not going to the movies.

Their regular priced auditorium needs a much needed seating update. #8 is huge and sitting in the back looks like you may be watching a tv at home. Seating is all level so one of the pictures is the view at eye level from your seat. Come on Cineplex update this "premium" cinema.

Yesterday I bought the product in the image, the price was higher than what is mentioned there, they charged me for the popcorn and the chocolates separately, the amount of chocolates was that of a small package, 8 pieces at most and the popcorn was too much dry DON'T BUY IT

VIP is anything but. This is an outdated theatre that they call VIP. Tiny theatre, tiny screen. Was unable to see the full screen because the seating isn't elevated enough. The vinyl seats were uncomfortable. Go to another location that will be worth the VIP price tag.

  • Gregory Colford

Great venue, easy to access, screens are great, love the VIP rooms, yet note the inside lounge/restaurant is 19+ - I was with my 15 y.o. and we had to have lunch elsewhere. It was shame - Cineplex dedicates a huge amount of floor space to the lounge and it was empty.

  • Chris

Not a real movie theater. The screen wasn't big and the picture wasn't clear. It was a small room so it was completely full. Normally I would move away from other people but with so few seats there weren't any options. It felt like a rip off. Not worth the money

  • Prerak Trivedi

One of the worst theatre experiences. The theatre was unclean, with drinks fallen on the floor which made it sticky. The seats are of the worst quality and theatre does not have levels but a slope making it a terrible experience if there's someone taller ahead.

  • Anantha Raj

Wish I was able to know the AUD# number before booking so that I could avoid AUD#8 which is a century old seating and worst I have seen in Canada.. Cineplex is not even in the race compared to 'Landmark cinemas Whitby' who has the best seats in my experience..

  • John Giesbrecht

This should not be called VIP. Regular theaters have better seating than this. Terrible sound, terribly uncomfortable seating, normal theaters have better recline options than this. Tiny screen. I'd give zero stars if I could. DO NOT GO TO VIP IN THIS THEATER!

  • Brian Lu

An underrated theatre remotely located inside a complex on Bay and Bloor. Way less busy than the other DT locations and offers VIP service (food and booze served directly to you in the movie room). The staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall, 5/5.

  • Josh Anderson

Don’t watch 70mm films here! I thought I was going to see Oppenheimer but it turned out to be Glaucoma: The Movie. Two-thirds of the screen was blurred the whole time. The theatre gave us a voucher at the end of it, but that was a brutal 3 hrs.

Last night I had the pleasure of experiencing the Varsity Small VIP Cineplex, and it exceeded all my expectations. I went there to watvh THE MARVELS and from the moment I walked in, the intimate atmosphere and modern decor set the stage for

  • Uday Parikh

I went to see Oppenheimer 70mm special engagement, the seats were uncomfortable and the theater seemed like it was old, they should definitely renovate it. Talking about the sound system, it didn't give the best experience, it was just okay.

  • Thomas Carlyle

Always good selection of movie and ir is not that crowded. the VIP salons are not that great, there are other vip with better seat (no reclining seat). Remember to calidate your parking ticket to get discount on parking (parking is not free)

  • Rishabh Malhotra

Seats don’t recline and feel very cramped. Screens are too small and to my surprise all seats are at the same level unlike normal movie auditoriums. This makes it difficult for people at the back to see clearly, esp if a taller person sits

  • Shannon

The location is perfect. The regular theatres are fine, but the VIP theatres are terrible. They are small, cramped and when someone stands to take a break, their head blocks the movie. The chairs are not comfortable and squeak. Throughout

  • Dom Dunphy

Paid for a VIP ticket to see The Batman and the theatre was absolutely disgusting. Dirty. Sticky. The screen was so textured that it distorted the picture of the movie- not to mention the quality was so terrible it was actually blurry. It

  • Arshia Elahi

It was a good place nothing to big. It’s a cinema in a small mall and unlike other cineplex cinemas it was different went there to see Oppenheimer and one thing I didn’t like about it was the seats quality and dirty ness other than that

  • Cindy Li

Went to see Tár and was spectacularly disappointed by the quality of the sound and screening overall. I have seen this film already so I know what to expect out of a quality movie theatre and Varsity was not. The best: 2x tickets were

  • Nancy Ferareza

Please refer to photo attached for parking rates at Varsity Theatre. Varsity theatre is conveniently located on the subway line. VIP and prime seats are the best seating selection to watch movies. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

  • free you

Good, attentive service. First time at VIP#3 and seemed smaller than #4 (only one I've visited before). Seats are not super confy, and prices are high. Just two toilettes for at least a couple of "vip" rooms...

  • Neelakshi Gupta

The theatre is good, but getting to the theatre for the first time was a bit of a hassle. Not enough signs to point you towards it. Spent almost half an hour in the complex just to find the theatre!

  • Gus “Erik” Chan

Cinema seats are good and atmosphere as well. i went to the cinemas lounge. The servers there are very nice and attentive, but there are not much food selections and no hot soup being served yet.

  • Ripal Patel

It was great cinema in small mall. We just went to watch Barbie with my partner. This location has small place but its fine. I've even enjoyed the VIP a time. Great place to go to see a movie!

  • Winston Ho

Theatre 7 and 8 are quite big but the other ones are medium sized. Their VIP theatres are much smaller than normal. There are no UAVX or IMAX theatres. Parking is validated on weekdays only.

  • Bruce Poon

Photo below from middle of the “IMAX”theatre. It’s laughably small. Way smaller than regular theatres in midtown and uptown. Why are they even showing 70mm Oppenheimer here? I feel cheated.

  • Aamir Raza

Not as good as other Cineplex venues. Staff was great, but the auditorium itself (#2) had issues with the screen where you could see grain/texture on the actual screen they projected on.

  • parichehr shafaroudi

Small cinema but it was ok. I do not suggest the 3 first line’s chair as it is hard to see the screen. Finding this place is somehow tricky, so it's better if you be there earlier.

  • Nick Ojkic

No A/C and theatre seats had no incline on the screen. It was uncomfortable and easily one of the worst cineplex experiences I’ve ever had. Would not go back to this theatre.

  • Terry

Comfortable seats with enough leg room to let people pass through Concession stand service is personable and efficient. Screen and audio is clear and perfect volume

  • Andrew Roch

Just went to see the new Transformers movie and the manager was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond for my child and called another Scotiabank to help us.

  • TOO MUCH MICHAEL

Normally, I would say all cineplexes are the same, but I wouldn’t come back to this one. I hated the seats. They were small and cramped very uncomfortable.

  • Shiraz Khan

Great service & polite customer service. It’s a must have experience when you have to watch a movie that been waiting for. Am going to be revisit soon !!!

  • Patrick McCaw

The VIP rooms are a bit cramped and long in the tooth compared to more recently built ones, but still a fun experience. Feels like a private screening.

  • Jill R

Excellent customer service from Max at the concession stand. He went above and beyond when I ordered my food. Please pass on this praise to him. …

  • Krupa Rawal

Most unhygienic theatre..drinks were all fallen down it made it sticky..no comfortable seating! Also not good experience watching the movie!

  • Brian

The VIP tickets aren’t worth it here. The screen is tiny, sound is poor, and seats aren’t great. Staff were friendly and helpful though.

  • John Hopkins

Nice theatre, easy to get to, theatre was clean and comfortable, refreshment stand was well maintained with polite and helpful staff.

  • Rob Galbraith

Location is great. Don't go to an early show if you want a hot dog. Their VIP experience is non existent so don't pay extra for it

  • Karanveer

Good overall experience. Needs some screen quality advancements. Staff had good customer service skills. Nice architectures.
