So the new thing is that people With a membership to get the first chance for tickets and they can reserve them so that means that you can see that all the seats are reserved and or to get one you have to go to theatre for that time to find out if anybody didn’t show up most the time. Many of the people don’t show up so you don’t know if you should go there or not to get a ticket. I was told well you can call an hour before obviously they have no idea how bad public transit is .It should be you get a ticket you and see the movie not reserve and not go not and not show up ! I went to one screening that members reserved tickets for so I went there because I really want to see this movie only to find out there’s only 10 people were in the theatre because those who reserved never showed up as reserving a ticket doesn’t mean purchasing a ticket if your a member . I guess TIFF can afford to lose customers and money ! It just means I’ll download the movies showing from some site and watch them at home though I’d rather give my money and support a local establishment but alas TIFF Really has let me down again and again and again…….
First time here - what an enjoyably refreshing experience. The screens may not be the fanciest or biggest and the theatres may not be the most eye-appealing, but the raw movie experience more than made up for it. The theatres are so acoustically designed we were blown away by the quality of the sound. We thought people were talking around us during the movie, but it turns out it was just the movie itself. The smaller screen (compared to bigger establishments) didn't make that much of a difference, and you are able to focus a lot more rather than constantly dotting your eyes around the screen. Seats could use improvement, and they're pretty close together, but again it's part of the experience. Popcorn was literally better than any other movie popcorn I've had as well. Would definitely visit again and recommend, and it's such a gem that smaller movies get their deserved spotlight.
TIFF Bel Lightbox is at the centre for all Movie lovers ! Especially during the Tiff season, the Tiff Bell Lightbox is the center of attention as it serves as a premier for all of the new movies premiering in place. The Tiff Bell Lightbox is also really awesome as they have a really cool restaurant in the center of the complex and it is home to many many private parties in place. The cool thing of Tiff Bell Lightbox is they have their own popcorn dispenser and you choice of drinks to choose from as they have alcoholic beverages as well. The other cool thing about the Tiff Bell Lightbox is they have two cool restaurants located in the complex and it serves as a great tipping point to where the theatres are going. I've been going to Tiff Bell Lightbox for years and it is somewhere where I continue to go over and over again!
I recently visited the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and had the pleasure of watching the Tamil movie "Ponniyin Selvan". The entire experience was unforgettable! The theatre was spacious, comfortable and provided an excellent view of the screen. The film itself was a masterpiece, with its breathtaking cinematography and captivating storyline. The festival was very well organized and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with TIFF and would highly recommend it to any movie lover. Whether you're a fan of international films or mainstream movies, TIFF is a must-visit event. It's a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of cinema and experience the magic of the big screen. I can't wait to attend again next year - Although I wish the screen was bigger!
Came here for a movie and it was my first time seeing a movie at TIFF. Parking might be a problem but if you are familiar with downtown parking spots you can park there and take a walk. I went for Ponniyin Selvan 1 which was in high demand and caused an excess of crowd to show up at the theaters. The staff were extremely friendly and handled the crowd efficiently. The theater seats were awesome as even the fourth row seats felt comfortable and not a huge strain on our necks. The only gripe is the restrooms. For a huge downtown TIFF with multiple screens the restrooms were hardly enough. There was a huge line up of people outside the restrooms and if you are in hurry good luck holding it in. Otherwise the theater was good, audio was awesome and well laid out space.
TIFF Bell Lightbox is a great place to watch any movie. I watched many films here from “2001: A Space Odyssey” in 70mm to the recent “Triangle of Sadness”. Any movie you watch here feels like you are watching a masterclass in Cinema! The auditoriums are expertly designed where every seat has great sight lines. Outside noise disappears immediately and screen size is proportional. I love that they “matte” the black bars of the movie so the image is the only thing you see. Been to the bar as well - nice drinks before or after a movie. You truly get your money’s worth wether you’re watching the Hollywood hits or an underground indie film.
This is hands down Toronto's best movie theatre for those who want an elevated experience. How nice it is to enjoy a film outside the house where your feet won't stick to the floor... Diversity of films, programming, and people + food and drink options, attention to design detail and comfortable seating make this a golden spot for solo excursions, date nights, and family events. Serious/frequent movie goers should consider membership packages for added value. Impressive special event spaces available as well. Nothing's perfect, but this place comes close. A Toronto gem!
A quality cinema facility that's centrally located and worth visiting, provided that something interesting is playing. Unfortunately, the screening selections have not been especially compelling since the venue's reopening after the pandemic. They might have lost a few quality programmers who used to program bold, original work or niche classics. I haven't had much reason to return lately, but I hope that changes. Also the primary screening site of the Toronto International Film Festival.
I volunteered at tiff bell light box and I would say this is the best volunteer experience. Tiff Bell's light box has 5 cinemas as per my knowledge. And they all are well maintained and staff is really good. On floor 2nd you have a special seating area if you can't stand in line. Box office line is right in front as you enter the building. They have few lounges as well. I may not be aware of entire building but what ever I have seen is worth to visit.
one of the best places in toronto!. It’s a nice place where you can share your taste in cinema, meet people with the same tastes and learn. I’m always good to visit it. In featival times it is clearly full of people and sometimes it is difficult to pass, but they have a very good team and help to cope with all possible events so in that way we have good experiences both in the movies and on the red carpets. my all-time favourite here in Canada.
Love going to TIFF, from the theaters to the restaurants on site. I went yesterday and seeing the main bathrooms, which they changed and decided not to label Women or Men, I dont think ill be going back. As a women I need to feel safe going to the bathroom with no men just walking in. I think in all that's going on, everyone forgot about safety for kids, safety for women. This really upset me, and for me, not acceptable.
This is a great theatre! I really like how the space is laid out and the different movies that they show. I’ve always had a positive experience here. It also holds a special place in my heart as this is where I watched the Raptors win the NBA championship in 2019 as they were airing the games on their big screens. Therefore, I’ll forever love this place because it is associated with one of the happiest times of my life
A not for profit organization that screens more artistic movies than the big budget Hollywood extravaganzas we are used to. This location has multiple screens for large showings (250 or so) to some smaller theatres that seat 20 viewers. The staff and volunteers here are very friendly and always look forward to the big September festival that brings a worldwide cast of talent to showcase their goods for all to enjoy
The theatre is amazing and has a very nice viewing podium. Therefore even if you are in the front the movie doesn't look so close. The movie selections are really good as movies which don't get released elsewhere are present here. Members also get to watch movies for free too and the price of a ticket is also very affordable as well. Definitely make a trip to watch international acclaim movies without fail.
Nice and modern movie theatre. 6-7 screens showing all sorts of movie-house and Indy films along with the blockbusters. Seats were comfortable, but a bit tight. All seats have great sight lines. Concessions were fairly quick Popcorn was quite good. Alcohol can be purchased….beer and wine for sure…not sure about spirits. Parked in the underground of the building…not too expensive on a Thursday.
TIFF is a great place to be introduced to new voices, films, and perspectives. It plays host to many local film festivals and screenings. Facilities are clean and the theatre seats are comfortable. Many places to sit and relax. They also have some restaurants, cafes, and a concession stand. I encourage locals to Toronto and visitors to explore this space, be inspired, and learn something new.
First time in and loved the ambience and the screening rooms. Quite spacious and friendly ushers to direct you as needed even if it's just getting to the restroom. Not privileged enough to get into the lounge so had to settle for the smaller cafeteria experience. Gift shop offered many TIFF assortment of purchase options and very informative staff. Very clean, well maintained.
This place is the magical heartbeat of the city. This place gives us access to world class movies, retrospectives, and film viewing groups. It is both an incubator for filmmakers while also being an amazing place for movie fans. I love the architecture, the new building, and the membership plan. I am so grateful for this place. It might be my favourite place in the city.
Outside of the annual TIFF festival, this unique theatre is a unique place to really enjoy classic films that have been remastered or re-struck from their original negatives (ex. 2001: A Space Odyssey) in all their big screen glory. Seats are comfy and far more spacious than your regular cinemas. Prices are fair and they have a student discount ($17 without, $14 with).
The programming and curation of films played here are magnificent and well thought out. Always playing a diverse range of films, even when the TIFF Film Festival is happening. I can always count on TIFF Bell Lightbox to have a schedule of interesting, new, up and coming films, and a respectful audience to watch it with! The theatre is so comfortable as well!
Amazing to have a dedicated Toronto Film Festival location where you can see films all year long from around the world that you don’t have access to in regular cinemas. The projection quality is great but the facilities themselves are a bit austere and the reservation system online is a bit awkward at times. However, Toronto is lucky to have this!
This was my first time to TIFF. I went to see the king. The seats were comfortable and you can bring beverages in with you to watch the movie. Nice size screen and a good sound system. then i become a volunteer in tiff, it was an amazing experience, stuff are good, everyone there are so nice and helpful. All said it's great place to catch movie
The theatre is a dump the seats are the most uncomfortable they don’t recline at all not even a little bit and looks 30 yrs old. The old retro theatres are in better shape. The size is nice but very disappointing that rainbow cinemas have better seats and cheaper and better value. Very disappointing worst theatre to watch a movie experience
I love this movie theater more than any other in Toronto because it brings the art of cinema beyond the common big box office movies. It values the Canadian artists, independent filmmakers, and other fine pieces from all over the world. Oh, and for CAD 14 (adult fare), you get all mentioned above plus comfy chair, quality sound and screen.
One of the absolute best movie watching experiences I've ever had! The seats are so comfortable and the sound is absolutely perfect!! It's going to be hard for me to watch a movie anywhere else now. The shop is also amazing especially if you're a movie lover, this is the place for you! Will be recommending to everyone visiting Toronto
Nice clean facilities. Attended a corporate event, the theatres are quite good. Taking off one star for the food options and the seat comfort. Lots of nice places around this place and shows a very different view of Toronto! The staff was very respectful and efficient. I can see myself going there again when a film festival happens.
Very relaxing quiet place to catch a curated good movie. Anything you see here will be good in the literary sense. I wish they had a better selection of red wines on the 2nd floor concessions (they just had a local Pinot Noir), but there is a bar tucked away in the back of the 3rd floor that serves some better red wines.
LOVE this spot! The Canteen and upstairs lounge are great for meeting up and chatting/celebrating film, before and after you screen shows. Right in the heart of downtown Toronto, you want to check out the shows here. It's a great vibe that allows access to more than the everyday mainstream.
Fantastic place to watch the BEST films! I took a train to Toronto and am here for a few days, and after watching "Do The Right Thing" the day I got there, I bought tickets for every night! Definitely high quality films, great seating and huge screen. Highly recommend!!
I was fortunate enough to attend TIFF..In conversation with Taylor swift! The best thing ever happened to me, I love TayTay & had been waiting from so long to see her & FINALLY❤️ I loved the theatre, audio-visual were on point & made a great experience for attendees.
Every time I'm at this cinema I adore it. This atmosphere, the dedication to film projection, the film's shown in such pristine quality and care. The events! It doesn't get any better in Toronto than the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Pictured below is from my latest visit
This theatre reeks of class. Sound quality and acoustics were excellent, temperature setting was perfect, picture quality as well. Truly an international film theatre that critics can feel good in. For the discerning, the popcorn is very very good too.
Really enjoyed the TIFF experience this year—saw some spectacular Korean films and truly engaging interviews and discussions with filmmakers and cast. The Lightbox is ground zero for a world class festival and always a great September experience!
One of the best venues to watch (quality) movies in the city...but what is with the washrooms??!! Since when do they think is comfortable for women to share washrooms with men and vice-versa? When we visited, nobody was comfortable...
Great place to experience diverse types of movies. 10/10 would reccomend if you are a film lover. Toronto a nice city as well. As a travelling entrepreneur I really enjoyed TIFF 2023. Got to see a couple of movies with Ruthless
This building has been instrumental in showcasing Toronto as a film industry destination. They are home to international film festivals such as TIFF, imagineNATIVE, reel Asian and other thematic programming. Not to be missed!
Excellent seating arrangement and ambiance. The sound is amazing, I felt the screen size is a bit smaller compared to the regular Cineplex though . Excellent location at the heart of Toronto's Entertainment District.
The absolute place for cinema! A mesmerizing place for experiencing culture, worlds and beauty! An island of international moving pictures, in the heart of the friendly, busy downtown! Cinema #2 is my super favorite!
Great venue of Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), featuring the latest cinematic technology of large screens and surround sounds, beautiful, elegant setting to present the best and latest in film.
A beautiful theater with comfortable seats and air conditioning. Lobby area on first floor also has several places to sit and read. Nearby is a store with shirts, bags, books, and other film related gifts.
If you love film and you are in Toronto stop by here! Part of the TIFF film festival, and movie scene it hosts both independent and mainstream films. The staff are awesome, and there is even a merch store!
A beautiful light and airy space to see films that don't play just everywhere. Afterwards you can enjoy the beautiful facilities and have a drink, while enjoying the expansive view of King Street below.
Watched the movie "The Hijacking of Flight 375". Movie Theatre was clean ans tidy, no line to purchase popcorn and the washroom was clean as well. Definitely a great place that I'd like to be back soon.
It's a cool theatre. Very neat and clean. Staffs are welcoming. They allowed outside coffee cups and muffins without any restrictions. Theatre experience is pleasant. Good viewing screen and sound.
The TIFF bell light box theatre is one of the best places to watch movies. The service is phenomenal, and food is exceptional. Highly recommend a visit to get a glimpse of the service they offer
I like this place, except for the fact that they have some theatres with the tiniest screens I've seen in decades. One would expect to enjoy some of this amazing movies on a big screen.
Always nice. Went for summerdelicious in Luma. Made it to a show and manage to forget my phone. Jumped on the streetcar going back. Had a great conversation with the staff who found it
Had a really nice movie going experience. The tickets were reasonable, the seats were comfy, and they have a selection of films not found elsewhere. Would definitely visit again!
If you're from India, the screen is definitely much smaller but so are all the other theaters in Toronto. But the sound quality was perfect, and overall the experience was great.
Went to this place to watch Tamil movie Ponniyin Selvan-1 and really enjoyed. The ambience was really good and CN tower is nearby right after stepping out from theatre.
It was a good experience to watch movie at TIFF Bell Lightbox. Since I went during the TIFFestival, I had the opportunity to meet with the filmmakers after the movie.
The cinemas are great, especially Cinema 1. Cinemas 2 and 3 are also good (Cinema 2 has Dolby Atmos). The consessions are relatively inexpensive (pop+popcorn CAD10)
Definitely a step up in viewing experience than most Cineplexes. Picture are noticeably sharper and higher contrast. Dialogue is crisp and base isn't over blown.
One of the best theatre's I've been to. The picture and sound quality are top notch. Very good ambience and location. The ticket pricing is very reasonable too.
Decent Theatrical experience! Best is to book seats in the middle but even the back rows have great view to the screen. You can book by calling them or online.
This is supposed to be the premier spot to see movies in Canada, so why is the screen so damned small? I was surprised and disappointed. (We were in cinema 2)
Classy theatre. Terrific sound system. Security checks . Well worth it. Saw movie on Oct 16 on theatre 1... Felt the screen a bit smaller... Overall 5* …
Wonderful. But empty. Like a ghost town. A shame it is not utilized. The theatres and the amenities are beautiful. I hope it does not get turned into condos.
Comfortable seats, with cup holders. Spacious, great venue for TIFF movies, with a stage at front for cast, producers, etc.. to speak before or after films.
Attended premiere of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Awesome night, friendly and helpful staff, and got to see Ramona's costume on display. Great night and venue!
First time visiting here very impressed nice and clean movie theater with excellent sound system and the staff were very polite and courteous …
Great great theater. It has friendly staff and a great atmosphere. If this theater is playing a movie you'd like to see I highly recommend you go here.
The only true year-round celebration of cinema is TIFF. The main event is in early September, but you may continue watching great movies iver the year.
Great theatre- attended an opening for a doc at this years TIFF. Concession stand is $$$ - great local places to grab a drink or grub before hand :)
Excellent seating arrangement and ambiance. The sound is amazing, I felt the screen size is a bit smaller compared to the regular Cineplex though .
Beautiful theatres; fantastic curation of indie films; wonderful events outside of the festival; and of course, the festival is a must attend!!
Such a fun event. I watched Ponniyan Selvan and it was an amazing film filled with historical events that took place in Sri Lanka and India!
If you like to watch movies where people know better than to be on their phones. Bathroom too far from theatres though. Wear running shoes.
The lines were organized and moved quickly, the volunteers were incredibly nice and helpful/informed. It was a great experience, thank GOD
Fantastic cinema with reasonably priced pop & popcorn that's heavy on the butter! The staff are courteous and communicative! Love it!!
It is very quiet during the day. The movie experience was fine but nothing more. Eating options after the show did not look appealing
I love being in this building. It's very classy and nothing like being in a public cinema. So cozy you might fall asleep, but don't!
Watched Ponniyen Selvan-1 in screen 2. Though the screen size is small the sound quality was awesome. Glad it was Dolby Atmos.
Whether attending an event or going to a movie with my kids, the Tiff Bell lightbox is one of my favorite places in the city.
Women Helping Empower Women attended the Lebanese Film Festival in Toronto 2022. It was an incredible event at TIFF.
Good experience in a nicely designed space. Good service. In some rooms, the chairs were way too close to the screen
The best place for the 7th art lovers. The building is a cathedral of movies and entertainment. Highly recommended!
Love this venue. It’s so large and airy. I’ve been before and enjoyed the show and food and drink. Will come again.
Good experience for the premiers and intimate launch parties. Car parking options could have been better though.
Volunteers were great. Assisted patrons with disabilities. The crowds however pushed past with little regard.
Another great movie at the best cinema in the Greater Toronto Area. We watched Mani Haghighi's "Subtraction".
They host different film festivals throughout the year, and the building is pleasant to spend time in.
Great place to see a film. Interesting art as well. Confusing bathroom signs took a minute to process
Amazing interior, super cool and easy to navigate around. Staff were all very friendly and helpful!
Great night out at TIFF, with a good selection of films to choose from and nice intimate cinemas.
It has always been a good location. Friendly festival goers. Clean. Good projection. Great movies
Beautiful building and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Clean theater and comfortable seats.
One of the best viewing experiences I've had. Really good movies here if you can get tickets
Great movie theaters and movie selection. Many staff at entrance but poor customer service.
Award-winning films at a very reasonable price, especially with an under-25 membership
The selection of amazing movies has me coming back to this venue on a regular basis.
Reasonably priced popcorn and great experiance in theater. Will come again!
Great to be a member of TIFF, love watching all the different movies here.
Saw The Killer in cinema 5. Really tiny screen but sound was good.
Great place to watch movies. Good security onsite.
