First impressions where good, the lobby was nice and clean and the hallway to all the cinemas was likewise clean and well designed. Then I went into where the cinemas where. I arrived early and the lights where still on which in of itself is okay but what it revealed was putrid. Many seats had holes or cuts in them and looked like they had never been cleaned in their life, and thick dust was present on some of the walls. Furthermore their where loose wires that someone had duct tapped down part of this (which isn't really a good solution to begin with) but worse they just left the rest just dangling. I noticed this wasn't in just one place either. Which given this was in the area you walk to to sit down it is downright dangerous (even before you consider how often people walk with little light present in a cinema). This combined with the severe lack of cleanliness is simply unacceptable especially when the ticket prices are as high as they are here. So how was the presentation, whilst it wasn't terrible it was clearly (or at least I hope) an older cinema and thus stadium setting was not present on the screen I saw. Meaning your head is awkwardly angled for two hours, which may seem like a minor complaint but once you have gotten use to stadium seating their is no going back. The image quality wasn't terrible but it wasn't as good as I am use to seeing at a cinema and the surround activity was poor (though this could easily have been the films mix) though reasonably well produced in terms of the detail present. I have been to many cinemas in many countries and this is easily amongst the worst I have seen and it is in desperate need of a major overhaul. Put simply this is the kind of cinema that gives cinemas a bad name. Stay far away.

Review for Hoyts latest Visit ( Mission Impossible DR-1 ) Seat Type: D-BOX Wonderful Seating Experience, my first time ever in DBOX Seat . There is special movement and vibration feature in Seats synchronised with the Action Scenes in the movie. Every seat had a Motion Control button with 3 levels. As always all seats were fully reclining automatically electrically seat remote ️ Mission Impossible gave us many such movements, thanks TomCruise and Co. Cinema was Clean, seats had enough space between 2 seats, completely disconnected with 10cm gap Very convenient location, close to food court and carpark right across. Cons: Screen6 screen size should be bigger;) You don't get to know if there will be an Interval during movie Wish this can be clear when movie starts. Pro Tip: Be a VIP if you are Movie Lover Always ask Support Staff if the Movie will have an Interval, so you can plan your food stuff accordingly Enjoy!

I was extremely impressed with the customer service of everyone at Hoyts Northland tonight. The seats I had booked for my partner and I unfortunately came with a slightly worn seat that I was unable to use, but the entire team were extremely accommodating and understanding of the problem. A huge credit to Aydin the duty manager, the ushers who were cleaning the cinema, and the customer service girl at the candy bar for their help in rectifying the problem and providing us with a great outcome. I'd encourage anyone else who has a problem before, during or after their movie to get in touch with the staff on duty rather than post a nasty review online. Things go wrong, and no one is perfect but it's a huge credit to this team for their effort in not just making me want to return, but making this a location I'd recommend to others. Get on down to Hoyts Northland, the staff are a delight!

Was there on Easter Monday and had a super slow service for popcorn and beverage, about 15 min to be served. We had family seats which was one of them was broken and we could not enjoy the movie because of it - Salon 10 seat16 last row. Informed the crew after the movie and they said we should have informed them in the middle of the movie to change the seats. This is while saloon was full and there was actually only one position available at booking time for the group of us and this was explained to them. Long story short, they offered no compensation or regards stating we watched the movie and there is nothing they can do. Prices are higher than Greensborough Hoyts which is cleaner, has a faster service and friendlier/more caring crew. Will possibly not going back - Avoid if you can.

I booked seats and food ahead of time but when I called to change the time because my partner was working late no one answered the phone. I called many times, no answer, I wasn't able to leave a voice mail due to the voice messages being full. I went to the front counter and they were unable to even help me out with a voucher. I went online to submit a request for a refund as recommended but the front counter and they were unable to help me out in anyway either. It's very disappointing that I was unable to change my session times due to poor customer service and now they have failed to rectify the situation at all. The employees weren't rude just very understaffed.

  • Jack Braddy

Saw the Batman on the Xtreme Screen, really good movie and sound. Unfortunately two members of the public kept walking in and out of the cinema on their phone at various intervals. I told them to keep it down but it was really distracting. The screen was pretty Xtreme but I was extremely disappointed that no ushers came and got rid of them. I wanted to tell an usher about what was happening but I have a strict no snitching policy. Rock and a hard place, I guess. Candy bar snacks were overpriced, so I snuck some malteasers in. None of the staff noticed. I will keep sneaking candy in because I don't think the staff are physically capable of stopping me.

Hoyts Northland will always be one of my absolute favourites. They always screen all the movies that are out , always have great deals for tickets and food and the best feature of it all is the recliner chairs that allow you watch the movies super comfortably. NEW ADDITION: D-Box Is the new addition to this cinema. They chairs vibrate and slightly move with some of the actions in the movie , so the audience can feel as if they are watching that scene live. There is an option to increase or lower the intensity of these movements which is great. I’m sure there is a lot more that can be added to this but for now it’s awesome .

Unfortunately, a couple decided to sit on my BOOKED allocated seats for a group of 5! The couple SWORE inappropriate words at my friend and told us to sit down at the front! Management were made aware of the incident that had transpired after the movie had wrapped up (unfortunately we all couldn't sit together). I would like to thank the Manager who worked on Friday evening (04/08) for dealing with the matter professionally and with great courtesy, we appreciated the support & kindness with complimentary tickets being offered as an apology. Thank you. Kind Regards, Edwin Raj

Everyone of the cinemas now has huge reclining seats which makes it super comfortable to watch. It's really good if you have young children like I do, even if someone sits in front of them they get a clear view of the screen. You can buy your tickets online through their website and even get your allocated seating so you know exactly where you're sitting before you arrive. Once you've purchased your tickets online, no need to queue up at all any more for your tickets, they can scan the bar code directly off your smart phone.

  • Karin Jorgensen

They were in the middle of renovating the cinema next to ours recently so there was quite a bit of construction noise during our film which was quite distracting. I understand that it is necessary in order to upgrade to the comfortable recliners but a little discount or a free drink or popcorn or something might have been a nice gesture for the inconvenience. Other than that cinema has greatly improved. Do be aware that due to space restrictions the seats do not recline fully.

  • Tania Tuimatafanua

The experience wasnt a really great one, we got in there and noticed that alot of people had purchased their seats and then those who actually showed up had taken them up and then asked if it's okay that the owner could swap? And then that person ended up sitting in someone else chair. If your going to purchase a seat then sit in the correct chair given don't expect another person to give it up to you just because your going to ask on the spot. It's rude and inconsiderate.

  • Courtney Moore

Recliner leather seats in all cinemas, great for comfort. Lots of leg room and spacem. Excellent surround sound, friendly staff, awesome popcorn at reasonable prices. Sign up to become a R.A.C.V member or use your optus perks offer and get tickets monday to Thursday in off peak hours for a low price of $12:50. Optus perks you can get them monday to friday for $12:50 anytime of day. Some movies may be excluded through.

  • Aninter Netdweller

Went there to try and do the classic "escape from a 32 degree summer evening at the movies" thing...but not only was the cinema not even cool in temperature, they also charged $30 just for a movie ticket and a bottle of water (that also wasn't cold). Honestly it's a rip-off and poorly run, I would recommend going somewhere else to see movies, I certainly will next time

  • Wendy Stevens

Thoroughly enjoyed going to the cinema again after such a long break. Movie was fantastic, theatre was clean a comfortable and even though we had àn incident happen with some young people, we had a great time. Management handled the complaint about the young people very professionally and in a caring manner. Meant thanks to the young woman on duty at that tim

  • Ali Ahmed Khan

One of the best branches of the largest cinema chain in Melbourne. Good for northern suburbs of Melbourne, located within a fascinating mall. The cinema experience itself is amazing with comfortable seats, good quality screen and sound system. Seat availability and app integration makes the whole process very smooth and easy. 10/10 experience for any movie.

  • Yangong Qi

I watched The Nun 2 DBOX at this cinema. The screen size was not impressive, the seats were okay, definitely not as good as 4DX as an experience. Throughout the whole movie, there were many groups of people casually talking in foreign languages. The exit signs were super bright in your face, one of the worst movie experience ever. Will not go there again.

  • James Faulder

Enjoyed the movie and was clean and comfortable. Parking is good with an elevator all the way up to the cinema if you choose the right park. Refreshments are way to expensive and the amenities could have been cleaner. A pleasant experience but not quite five stars. PS please make the reclining seats not so loud as they can be distracting during the movie.

  • bbjang3397

Very best customer service ever!! I've got tickets for our family moive night. Somehow I've got different location bookings. So paniced as we were waited for that session for sometime..Every staff there were friendly, calm and professional helped us to watch the movie with no problem. Thank you so much. We enjoyed the movie and loved the reclining seats.

  • Saara Annous

Staff are more interested in talking to their friends and throwing popcorn at the counter then serving the massive line that awaits. Unprofessional the 2 girls, skinny blonde one and the brunette just left the poor guy to serve all people non stop.how about you guys stop messing around with your annoying friends and actually do your job and work.

  • jayarani navaratnam

Staff inexperienced ,makes errors on ticket prices and some staff are lazy and non apologetic Managers deal issues over the phone and their response is usually (Hoyts staff own mistakes )for us to deal their mistakes online . They don't rectify any ticket errors and non apologetic for their mistakes. Need education and training .

  • Kylie Moorcroft

I like the fact that you can choose where you want to sit in the movie, when you go up to make a purchase!! Love this cinema. There's buttons on the side of your chair and the chair automatically folds out into a recliner chair. They're so comfortable, those chairs. The atmosphere inside the cinema is, absolutely mind blowing.

  • Jacob Morse

Saw new fantastic beasts in the D-box theatre, what had the potential to be a fantastic experience was ruined by a loud thumping noise beneath the motion recliners every 5-10 seconds throughout the entire duration of the movie! Very distracting even slightly worrying at some stages! Not impressed! Otherwise great movie..

  • Randa K

The recliners are comfy and theatres are great however it’s disappointing to see the snack bar is ridiculously over priced for the over salted popcorn crumbs from a bag we always get and flat drink sometimes. Village cinemas are way more decent priced and actually make their popcorn. Hope to see a change in the future.

  • Yusuf Booger

I cannot believe that they still do the vaccine check to everyone when every movie places don't check it and don't understand why they still doing it when we're back to normal!! We drove 35 mins to see a movie we got turned back my little cousins are so upset we still provide the documents what a waste of night!!

  • Lisa

Getting more and more expensive. Seemed pretty unorganised with people making sure you are checking in with the QR code and showing your vaccination but no one checked that we had tickets to a movie. Cinemas have very nice reclining chairs, they are kept relatively clean but also people could learn to use a bin.

  • Prakriti Mateti

I was shocked to see that many of the seat cushions were in terrible condition in their extreme screen cinema. The covers were ripped so badly that the cushion inside was basically out. This is right at the join between the top and bottom cushion so it's uncomfortable. I noticed at least 3 in my row were ripped.

  • James Sinclair

Horrible experience, a bunch of young kids that don’t have appropriate manners for customer service. $20+ for a 1 drink and 1 popcorn is laughable. I asked for fresh popcorn and they gave it to me cold so I asked for fresh popcorn again and they gave it to me luke warm. How hard is it to serve up HOT popcorn…

  • Narendran Shanmugam

Great friendly staff. I am disabled and am in a wheelchair, The cinemas are all wheelchair accessible and even the standard recliner seats are very comfortable.. and there's lots of food available at Hoyts and in the shopping centre.. you gotta love it, there is no downside.. there's even disabled toilets!

  • Fiona Hullah

Wow how cool is the theatre here. Went to watch a comedy with the mates...which to be fair, was funny as. Buuut, the chairs are super soft and recline all the way. After the movie the three of us confessed of napping during the movie cos it was sooooo comfy. Now I just wanna watch movies at Northland!!!

  • Farhaan Zaheen

the place is not what I intended it to be. all the snacks you need, drinks, etc. but in the d box cinema room at the back seats all the popcorn buckets, soft drink cups, and other food packets are thrown there. there was even a bloody plaster there! all the flies were circling there, i hated it.

  • Liam P

Chairs are amazing, all chairs can recline and aren't only for premium customers. The staff were friendly enough and it's well set up inside. Only issue was getting there when the rest of the shopping centre was shut, it was quite confusing to navigate the carpark to actually get to the cinema.

  • Raquel

Haven't been here in a while since pre covid 2020 and they've changed so much to it - exciting to see what they will make of the space. Service was average but staff are young and still learning, seats in cinema in the extreme screen are comfy and the lounging out has to be my favourite part

  • Ben Gallo

John wick was a lot of fun. Unfortunately on Easter Sunday (8:50pm) a family decided to bring their 4 children aged 5-10 years old to one of the most violent movies I've ever seen. Staff really dropped the ball by not checking that family's tickets. Hopefully Hoyts can pay for their therapy.

  • Michael Sell (DemonicLacky)

The new seats are comfortable, with extending foot rests. Unfortunately they're leather, so expect a sweaty back in warm weather. The tickets aren't the cheapest in the world, and you get absolutely hammered on popcorn prices. I'd recommend going with long pants and taking your own snacks.

  • Kimberley Anderson

Waited in line for 20 minutes to get food, while staff slowly served and then started serving people who we're just walking up instead of waited in line. Staff we're extremely rude and couldn't muster a smile. Theatre was filthy and not cleaned. Very disappointed and won't be returning.

  • terry ziegler

Regular modern multiplex cinema, comfortable seating with plenty of room and the tall person in front didn't block my view. Last time I visited the recliner seats vibrated with the noise - cool. But it's expensive to go to the cinema now and the snacks and drinks are overpriced.

  • Shaynee Michelle

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Reclining leather seats were great, and a little table for your phone or food. I gave 4 stars because the popcorn was just horrible. Barely any salt and barely any butter. The popcorn is my favourite part about going to the movies.

  • Brett Jackson (bj)

The newer, eastern side cinemas are great. Most of the older western side cinemas are long and narrow so you don't get that 'big screen' feeling. Despite some upgrades over the years, overall it has always felt a little more run down than say Vic Gdns or Melb Central.

  • jackie clough

No staff, auto ticketing machines were mostly out of order and the one that was 'working' kept trying to sell us 3 tickets instead of 2. Message says to take your rubbish away with you. What are we paying for? Why go out when you can get better service at home.

  • Manuela Scremin

The Cinema is big and have a confortable sit Good place however the price of popcorn is a little bit expensive so just go infront of the Cinema and have some to eat and drink just need a renovation in carpet and a good clean on the cinema as popcorn e erywhere

  • Love Cats

Oh my gosh, so so freaking expensive. First time and was the first time I watched a movie on Saturday. The movie I go here is Ant Man.. Man, this movie is bloody BORING My niece fell asleep from the beginning to the half of the movie!! not again here.. …

  • Daniel T

They turned the house lights on before the credits had even started rolling in the showing I saw (Mission Impossible, 1.15pm, 21 August). Don’t see films in places that DGAF about films or have the bare minimum respect to let the whole film play in darkness.

  • press play

The Xtreme screen number 10 is a fantastic cinema. Yup the popcorn and coke is overpriced like an airport muffin but then you'll have a very generous recliner with large screen and excellent sound. I have seen 3 big films here post lockdown. Brilliant.

  • John McArthur

Really nice cinema. Great seating and quality sound and screen. The theatre is really well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. A bit pricey but that's how it is a these days. I recommend going on Tuesday when all tickets are cheaper.

  • Jeremy Price

The reclining chairs are terrible, half of them don't work. The cinemas speakers are extremely screechy, other cinemas haven't hurt people's ears. And to top it all off, the projection was really dull, so the movie was dark. Would not come back.

  • Jeeves Jay

Great movie theatre. Have been going to Hoyts Northland for years. Lost one star because they put too much salt in the popcorn! This is why many will resort to bringing food from outside. Not to mention to exorbitant prices (for food and drink)

  • Fame Forward

Experienced D-Box the first time, it was super duper good with Mission Impossible!!! D-box has a slightly larger screen than the standard but not as big as the Xtremescreen, and has recliners that have sensors to replicate the feels on the

  • Adam Howes (Howsito)

Pros: X-Treme Screen viewing D-Box technology (which isn't widespread in Melbourne) Cons: Staffing of concession area (which is often dirty) is non-sensical Range of confectionery on offer is poor Toilets are often filthy and unattended to.

  • Greg Horne

Was OK. Better because I snuck my own chips and ice creams in for me and the kids. Naturally some irritating guy 3-4 rows down had his damn' phone out for most of the move, the eerie glow always distracting from the latest Marvel offering.

  • james alford

Been to two Hoyts cinemas recently and have been disappointed. While the recliners are great, the screens are small, the sound systems don't clearly reproduce spoken words well, and the popcorn is not freshly popped. Quality has dropped.

  • Kris Waah

What is the point of pre-order, when you have to wait for everyone else who just walks up gets served first? 1 staff member serving, 2 others gossiping around the side. Will definitely be bringing in my own snacks next time.

  • Nic

$9.75 for a large frozen drink and $6 for water is criminal. Also had the audacity to charge and extra $1 for not being a member.. staff where more interested in chatting to each other, rather than serve their customers.

  • Hayley Garlick

Attended Northlands Hoyts today and had a lot of difficulty redeeming our tickets. Missing out first session. However, Marcus was nothing short of amazing! Also Stephanie was so so very helpful. Great job guys :)

  • Lisa Sutherland

Nice friendly and helpful staff. The theaters are also very nice and clean. Good place to take kids during off peak hours and days, or just have a you day. Been my local go to for theaters for several years now.

  • Ankit K

Its great! All the seats are recliners. The screens are good and sound system is superb. The normal screens are big and you wouldn't miss a Xtreme Screen experience in small screen. They are decent size.

  • Bia Jane

Watched The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It in Cinema 7 which had recliners that were so comfy. The screens are large and they have a good sound system. Clean cinemas and kind staff members

  • Sunhead Darkspear

Modern cinema, but lazy. They cut the projector, but not audio, before the end credit scene in Guardians 3. Excuse:Sometimes the equipment goes to sleep at the end of the night, sorry.

  • FoodReviewsByZ

Great member deals, session times & staff are all friendly. Snacks are a little pricey ( standard ) but hoyts northlands is an easy good cinema overall, especially the Xtreme Screens.

  • metroo

Staff are nice and friendly and the cinema is rather deluxe. The cinema seats are nice and the screen is massive and has high quality speakers, food is nice too. Love this place.

  • Emy Wilde

Rudest staff I’ve ever encountered at a hoyts. I don’t want to name the person who served us publicly but they were extremely rude and aggressive for no apparent reason.

  • Merlyn Dsouza

It was an awesome first time experience with comfortable recliners to watch the movie. Myself and kids had a wonderful motion full effects while enjoying the movie.

  • R Smith

Seats were good, but snack bar service was slow and just junk food. No atmosphere but good watching the movie on the large screen. Looks like the cinema is dying.

  • John M. Read

Currently escalators are under reconstruction so access is via the lift opposite. Monday night is quite empty. No ticket discounts. Mint choc ice cream $7. Odd

  • Simon Zeev

So LOUD!!! We couldn’t enjoy the movie, just too loud. My ears were ringing during the movie. I love the comfortable seats but that’s the end for me and Hoyts.

  • Jannis

Apart from Xtream-screen the rooms are very outdated. The seats are tiny, uncomfortable and in general in bad condition. Cinema 9 smells old and stale.

  • TJ Wiegs

Horrible straws. I know it's strange to review straws, but they are so bad it needs to be mentioned as they disintegrate in your drink within 15 Min.

  • Sheryle Drury

Hoyts Northland is more of a building site than enjoyable cinema experience..nobwhere to sit, old and rundown..remembered why I drive yo Chadstone

  • Tina Sadler

Very nice staff and great service great people friendly we like it so much great food and it's fantastic we like coming here all the time

  • Bin Bon BAM

Staffs are great, services are great, popcorn well-salted. The cinema itself is quite disappointing unless you've bought the seats for

  • Connor Eaton

Staff member was not friendly, barely even looked at us. Cinema I was in was okay, not as inclined as you'd hope compared to Eastland

  • Amy Elizabeth

Great cinema. Love the new recliner chairs. One thing I wish they did, however, is put an attendant in the cinema while the

  • Leli Abela

Great Theatre with reclining chairs with plenty of foot room. Very comfortable to sit back relax and enjoy a good movie.

  • John Sanchez

Northland has improved a lot since it first opened up. Very modern on the cinema side. But car part needs improvement.

  • Nazek Akkad

I love going because the chairs are so comfy. The snacks are a bit expensive. The popcorn was too salty for us.

  • Nirali Ashish Patel

Went for Bollywood movies Can't enjoy due to lights on during movies Hoyts must have to refund for tickets

  • Brenton Scicluna

Nice and clean, fancy reclining seats, great snack bar, a bit pricey but highly recommend
