"This place was incredible! The atmosphere was dim and neon and beautiful, the theater was clean! They don't just show the latest they also do movie events, and we saw thr original King Kong! The bar prices were super fair and they offered fun mocktails and hand crafted sodas! Highly recommend the ginger beer with indica mixed in! The menu looked good, it was low on vegan options but they were available! The theater menu was simple but had all the necessities, as well as beers and cocktials! I was also able to bring my drink from the bar into cocktails! I also LOVE that this place is so lgbt friendly! Very warm, inviting, I felt comfortable in my own skin which is rare in public"

Amazing experience and spot alike. Far and away the best movie theater restaurant combo there is. Incredibly unique and diverse movie selections, with nice, dark and cool theaters with comfy seating and great leg room. Their popcorn somehow is easily the best popcorn I’ve ever had. Restaurant wise it’s right up there with the likes of Bluebeard and Vida for some of the best and most unique places I’ve been in the city. The pork belly buns and okonomiuaki were to die for. Fresh, yet perfectly salty and savory, very excited to try the rest of the menu as I bet it’s amazing. Price point and attire wise it’s also very approachable for how well executed and refined the experience is. Another huge perk is the bar. A healthy library of craft/signature cocktails, but also mock tails alike. It’s awesome to see so many places beginning to place an intentional focus there because it really makes the entire environment more approachable in my opinion with so many lifestyle choices. Not to be lost in being a bar, they still offer the classic of a beer and a shot and a fantastic craft/draft selection too. Such a pleasant surprise, can’t wait to be back.

Tonight (12-17-22) was my first time here. I didn't try the restaurant so can't rate that. However, I did watch two movies here: "The Inspection" and "Bad Santa". Starting off, the young lady at the ticket/concession counter was very friendly. We chatted some in between customers coming in. Both theatres were unique in their own way. Screen 3 is very small like a screening room. Screen 2 was much larger. Both theaters were pretty much spotless, very clean and looked brand new. The rocker seats were very comfortable as well. The picture was bright and crystal clear and the sound of both movies were clear. The popcorn was so good I actually got more for the second movie. This is my new favorite place to watch a movie not just in Indianapolis but in the State of Indiana. If you have never been here you should definitely give it a try. I can't wait to make the drive back here again. Five stars all the way.

First visit. Went to view a film. This spot is definitely for the trendy crowd who does not mind being around a lot of people with a lot of noise/commentary during a movie. Pricing is reasonable on snacks, and the film tickets were lower than most places. Film seating was comfortable, spacious, and although small, laid out very well. Sound was more impressive than expected. Decided to leave before the film ended due to the crowd being so noisy. My guess is.. this is because of the alcohol consumption during the film. The other thing that was slightly irritating was that they do not pay a great deal of attention to making sure everyone has tickets to the film. Everyone kind of roams about the building, and another Patron notified us that it is a very "loose" thing (having actually paid to see the film). Either way, it's a cute spot, but for the people who are more peopley than myself.

The true definition of Kismet - love this place and who it's brought me to. In the spirit of Kurt Vonnegut, this place brings together like minded folks from across the city. The front desk staff are always kind, and the prices keep cinema accessible. I believe in the power of their programming and their dedication to keeping Indy Indie. Thank you, KanKan! I appreciate all the memories I've made here and will continue to make. Some of my favorites include (not limited to) watching the Barbie Movie on opening night, Practical Magic, Marcel the Shell, Theater Camp, Parent Trap, Clueless, 8 1/2, Nope, and Asteroid City. It's always fun to grab a cocktail or a meal at the Brasserie beforehand as well. Excited for all the programming to come!

films: nice runs of indie films or films from a long time ago....popcorn is ridiculously tasty. seating is old fashioned, basic movie theater seats with open seating as opposed to assigned seating. restaurant: Creative menu, film themed, constantly rotating, I had fried chicken with a lovely arugula salad, subtle interesting flavors and great textures. Great selection of moctails and house made sodas. A little pricey, but worth its weight, entrees for dinner are a good portion. Our server was fantastic, great table service and felt welcomed, great suggestions.

This place is very cool! Tickets and popcorn are very inexpensive. Spent about $20. There are a few movies playing, and the theaters are a decent size. We saw Barbie and there were a few seats left. The bar has a good variety of cocktails including MULTIPLE non-alcoholic options around $10. You can add CBD if you'd like. I also saw more than one non-alcoholic beer in the case at concessions. I am excited to try out the brasserie next time, the menu looked great! There are plenty of bike racks close to the building if you don't want to drive.

I visited Kan Kan Cinema and Brasserie today, and it was really nice. The place was pleasing to the eye and the people there were very friendly (employees and customers alike). Unfortunately I didn't try the food yet, but I did order a Blue Hawaiian cocktail. It was delicious. The theater seats were comfortable. (They don't recline though.) The bathrooms were very clean and pristine as well. They're also all gender bathrooms. Overall, I really like this theater and I can see myself going there quite often in the future.

This has been my favorite new spot in Indy. A place truly dedicated to art/cinema. Yes they play the new blockbusters, yes they play classics like Casablanca and Old Boy, and yes they play movies that I've never heard of or even speak the language of, that I would have missed out on had it not been for Kan-Kan. Amazing staff and bartenders, and I recently discovered the burger is DELICIOUS. Tip: If you catch a late showing you just might get to partake in Mega Pretzal.

Love the Kan Kan! Watched a Movie and had Dinner at the Brasserie for our 37th anniversary! We may live 30 minutes from this gem, but we will be back soon! Love the inclusiveness of this theater! The oppressiveness of Indiana disappears during a visit. We already come frequently for Amelia’s next door! Barbie was a fun time to watch at such a great local theater! It was likely the first movie in a theater since our kids were younger- at least 15-20 years or more.

Love the art house theater but the real gem is the restaurant. It looks small from the main lobby but opens up into a long corridor space. Still a cozy space, tasty menu, always some veg options, creative cocktails/mocktails, efficient and very friendly service - I hear it’s run by the folks at Bluebeard but not 100% sure. Quickly becoming our western menu go-to spot for weekend dinners. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

What a clean, fun place right in the center of our neighborhood. It's new , shiny, very respectful and not to mention the great ownership that run the place. The popcorn is a stand in line any day for. I mean I'm hooked. Even when I'm not staying to watch the movie I buy the popcorn to go. Not on bag or two I buy three at a time. This place is a must stop by and see to appreciate. Check them on their website as well.

We spent a week deciding which restaurant we would make NYE reservations for. Kan-kan won because of their two stand out vegan options. Imagine my disappointment when the waiter informs me that neither option are available that night. If you have dietary restrictions, call ahead, they don’t always have the vegan menu items that are listed on their website or on their printed menus in the restaurant.

I'm giving it 5 stars even though they were sold out because the host was so nice about it, and it's really my fault for not buying tickets before I drove out here. So I suggest you buy tickets ahead of time but if you don't, the concession line is where you buy tickets also so don't wait in line twice like I did lol. We didn't go inside the theatre but it was really nice outside and in the lobby.

I absolutely love this place. I have been catching movies here since they opened, as well some of the special events too (Suspiria with Goblin live was the highlight!), and it never ceases to be a great time. I ended up getting the 35mm Membership for Christmas (Thanks, mom and dad!) because it is absolutely worth it. Plus how can you beat a shot and a beer for 5 bucks?

  • Jason Wineinger

It is easily one of the best theaters in the city. This is a great place to go if you're looking for movies that may not get the same level of play they do in the bigger chains, and they also play a lot of classic films on a regular basis as well. They host a variety of entertaining guests as well, so keep this place on your radar if you're a movie lover.

  • Mag Na

Great atmosphere and the selection of movies is varied. The restaurantis good. It's mildly upscale, Limited menu. The food is generally okay, but every iteration of the chicken that I have had, has always been amazing. The small venue is really wonderful. Love the variety of movies and events. They have such wonderful programming.

  • Cheryl Cain

The staff is super friendly and helpful throughout the cinema and restaurant. Theater sizes vary. Always clean and comfortable. Popcorn is very good too. The restaurant is totally seperate from the theater, so no eating dinner in the dark. The menu is unique, fresh and delicious every time. we love this place.

  • Colin T

Great theater that I’ve been to several times, with last night being my first time going to the restaurant. Food was quick and good, and my server, John M (I hope that’s his name!) knew I was going to see a movie afterwards and accommodated me quickly. Great service!

  • Jacob Tilmon

An Indy treasure. Artful dining experiences alongside the best Indie film cinema in the city. The restaurant has innovative food offerings with great cocktails. You can take the cocktails but not the food into your movie so come early if you plan dinner.

  • Aleah Fine

Perfect sized theater! Such a fun and cute environment - we are hoping to become members! We stayed after for some drinks and snacks. The mocktails and pickled shrimp cocktail were delicious. Can’t wait to go back soon and try the dinner menu.

  • Mark Sobley

They have great happy hour deals throughout the week in the bar area, actual screening rooms are small and cozy and all seats have a good view of the screen. Parking is adequate and location is nice to have something on the east side of town.

  • Sue Ellen Potter

This place was a great surprise! Hidden gem! Wonderful movies, a great bar area! You can great a bite prior or after the movie! You may take a beverage into the movie! Across the parking lot, you can get a loaf of bread to go at Amelia’s!!

  • The Bike Hive

Wow, the food was so much better than we expected. My wife and I have had this on our want-to-go list since they opened and finally had the chance this week. Food is top notch and the drinks are tasty.

  • L Grace

This theater is really nice. It's small and cozy, the bar/ food area is nice and the theater is roomy and comfortable. The seats, screen and sounds are great! Great place for a private event.

  • Jared Slothower

We went to Kan-Kan for the first time and loved it! The popcorn was delicious and affordable and the theater was the perfect size! We will definitely be coming back for the future!

  • Savage Shiba

Went because I'd heard good things, they'd oversold the show and people were having to stand or sit in the aisles. Not chancing it again. 2 stars because the seats were comfy.

  • Rach

The Kan Kan is such a nice place. It’s probably my favorite place to see films. The staff is always nice, the food is excellent, and the film offerings are always diverse.

  • Drew Bear

Kan Kan is incredibly cool! I saw old boy here. The theater rooms are very small. Popcorn is good. Cocktails are delicious and unique. Clean. Great music. Will return

  • Tabasco Indy500

Really hip awesome place in downtown Indy. Same Positive vibe as bottleworks or the stutz. Great food, service, beer selection.
