I've only been here once and don't plan on going back after an experience with an employee. When I went over to the counter to buy my ticket I was greeted by a young man who had an extremely rude tone after selecting the ticket for the movie I was going to see he asked me if I would like popcorn and a drink since it was a me day I said bought them. When he walked over to the popcorn machine I heard him cursing me so of course I had to pull him up about it which he didn't like. The conversation was mostly him just calling me derogatory things and it was going nowhere and wasn't getting better he was starting to get really mad but before he could do anything multiple workers pulled him away and gave me the popcorn and drink for free for the inconvenience in the end I don't recommend this cinema.
We watched the James Bond movie at the rooftop cinema and it was a great experience. Fun vibe, plenty of space for wheelchair or pram access, view was amazing and the rooftop bar was a plus. You get a headphone too but it was crackly throughout the movie so was a bit annoying. 2 types of timber & fabric chairs - front row is a lower beach chair type and the rest are like directors chair type. It was a very cold night when we went and we rugged up plus brought a blanket but something they could do better when its a very cold / windy night is to put the 2 outdoor heaters from near the bar to the seating area so audience can get some warmth. Anyway, go on a warmer day so you’re not thinking about other gold class comfort and it’s fun! ;)
At first I didn't feel a good vibe here, but with time I grew fond of this place. The staff are friendly and the designs are good. Edit: It has been an absolute pleasure visiting this establishment on more than 100 occasions. The staff have consistently displayed exceptional hospitality and made me feel like a valued guest. Their unwavering commitment to providing top-notch services to all patrons is truly remarkable and sets this place apart from the rest. I am consistently impressed by their warmth and genuine care for each and every customer.
Went to the Lido on a beautiful hot Sunday evening. Upstairs to the Rooftop Bar and that's where it started to go downhill. The bar does not accept cash. The beer on tap was too frothy and couldn't be poured. The Lemon Lime and Bitters was flat and other customers complained about it too. The staff offered a refund, but the Supervisor had to do it, so we waited and waited. Finally when the Supervisor came, she couldn't do it, so needed to go back downstairs. Apart from the Rooftop bar experience, everything else was good.
This cinemas just had a great feel to it. A nostalgic feel like a cinemas that you would visit as a kid in the 90s…that being said the seats are a little on the smaller side and can feel a little cramped compared to the bigger chain cinemas but the bigger downside is the parking. Near by areas have 2 hrs which is annoying if the movies runs past it. We had to park in a paid spot only a couple of mins walk away. All in all I would definitely go back as long as it’s not a peak hour ( new releases on the first day )
Excellent boutique cinema experience. Best time to come is Tuesday as it’s $8/12 tickets for members/non members (highly recommend becoming a member). Most places around here is unrestricted parking after 6pm. The cinemas are small (seats roughly 60 I say) but the seats are comfortable. The other major selling point is it’s location, excellent options to eat before or after your movie session.
Rude and pushy staff. They don't give you a chance to workout what snacks you want, nor do they give you a chance to ask for snacks. They just want to shove the ticket in your hand and keep you moving along. At one point I was going to the bathroom, and I had an usher just come up to me and say "The cinemas are just through there!" Thanks for the help, but that wasn't where I was going!
Rooftop cinema was not a great film experience. Chairs so uncomfortable (only a few laid back ones available in front row) . Sound quality with headphones crackly whole way through movie, even had to get a new headset. Movie wasn't bright enough or the screen wasn't dark enough so could hardly see parts of movie. The rooftop has a vibe but not good for watching a 3 hour movie.
The entryway for Lido Cinemas Hawthorn is situated half way down the arcade strip and easily accessible. The food options are sufficient and they also have frozen drinks that are ‘a must’ on those hot summer days. I like that they have a rooftop cinema and hold many events (themed movie nights / weeks) which promotes our community. All in all, it’s a pretty decent cinema.
Very disappointed in this cinema. I used to go there regularly and enjoyed the experience but they refuse to take CASH only CREDIT or DEBIT cards. You've lost me and won't be going back until or if you bring back CASH. Very, very inconvenient guys..!!! You need to bring back CASH NOW.. Have decided to go to Balwyn Cinemas who still use CASH and are happy to accommodate me
Saw the Oppenheimer movie here with a friend who had some staff tickets. The cinema was pretty small but it was honestly cosy and the seats were comfortable. Looks like they were setting up for an event when we left, possibly a birthday. I didn't realise they also did functions which is good to know. Really nice venue on the inside.
Dreadful service. The young fellow who sold me the ticket had no customer service skills...no thank you, no anything...just held the ticket rudely at me like he resented the effort. Pathetic lack of basic politeness. Obviously the manager and owner of this cinema doesn't invest in customer service. I won't be going back.
Lovely historic cinema, with a big screen for new releases and special events, and smaller cinemas with a chill, familiar vibe. The jazz room is quite small, but they have heaps of fantastic community events and affordable deals for students. Love their mulled wine in winter!
Nice place to watch movies with your loves even though the seats they have are still the old-fashioned ones. Love the vibe and decorations of this cinema and you’ve gotten so many choices for dinner or lunch before your movie session however, nearby parking are only 2P.
Really nice independant theatre with snacks and hot food options, clean and dare I say pretty toilets, and good sized theatres. Located next to a carpark and on the bustling Glenferrie Road. Nearby to other cafés and shops. Support independent cinemas!
Awesome cinema. You can tell that these guys are passionate about movies. Very much a community vibe. Love the fact I can bring a pint into my viewings as well. I've been there many times over my 5 years in Melbourne, and I'll be back again for sure.
We visited as a group of 20 teens and adults to see the Barbie movie and celebrate a birthday. The staff were fabulous, helpful in every way. They kept our cake in the fridge and made a space available to us after the movie. A great evening.
Alicia and Sam were so much help! The website double booked our tickets for barbie but Alissa and Sam gave us new tickets, plus complementary tickets AND combos with ice creams! They were like so helpful, give them a raise …
Classic old-school cinema showing new releases and old favourites with super comfy on-the-large-side seats. Good selection of drinks, treats and snacks. We attended a local school’s in house film festival which was well organised.
Best popcorn all round, didn't feel like I was drowning in salt. Cinemas give the same comfort as watching a movie from home. New releases complimented with classic flicks. Become a member well worth it …
Just a Cinema with a Snack plus Drink Kiosk. However, at the Ground Level, there are many Eateries and being located at Glenferrie Road, there are several restaurants, bookshops, Asian grocery stores etc, etc.
Great independent and boutique cinema. Has a good blend of block busters, foreign films, old films, indie films. Funky little candy bar as well. Highlight definitely is the roof top cinema in the warmer months
I went here to see a movie not showing at my usual classic cinema. I was so impressed with this little boutique quirky place. Clean, tucked away, great customer service. I will be back . . .
Booked a cinema to play Switch in for three hours on a Saturday afternoon with about 15 friends and it was epic! Easy and fun, friendly and helpful staff, great drinks selection too.
We love going here for movies. Funky fit out, friendly and happy staff, really comfortable seats and easy parking out the back. Ticks all the boxes. Keep up the great work.
As my 12 year olds prepared to pay by their pocket money for snacks today, according to Lido cash is no longer legal tender. Thanks for denying them that rite of passage.
Nice venue. It was my first experience on a rooftop cinema. I really enjoyed and the view is great! Kind staff and good snacks options. Tip: Don’t forget your blanket!!
Roof top cinema is a totally different experience from a traditional one. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, the atmosphere, the White Russians and a very friendly crew.
Beautiful cinema. Rooftop was a fun adventure but make sure you have lots of warm clothes if the temperature is set to drop. Rugs provided but they're a bit stinky
Interesting cinema, you can take a glass of wine in. There's a lift, which is great (for those who dont like stairs). There are a few eating places around it.
The Jazz Club tucked away on the first floor is a brilliant space to enjoy some splendid live Jazz. 'Reverse Swing ' entertained ~ 40 for 2hrs last night!
Great non usual atmosphere for non mainstream productions. .. Armenian film festival and cocktail party was terrific, venue was very suitable.
The outdoor rooftop screening for Scream 5 was awesome, warm ( we went in summer ) and the headphones were a fun way to experience the movie!
Theatre usher Liam had excellent service! Huge shout out to him for making the experience so joyful, we can’t wait to come back to say hello
We had our wedding here and it was incredible! The staff went above and beyond to make our dream wedding a reality. Thanks Lido! ❤️ Em + Tom
I love this cinema because of the small theatres that are inside and it's just so nice and the staff are very kind.
Great movie venue in the heart of Hawthorn, bar and cafe upstairs too. Public car parking behind the cinemas..
I saw a documentary on the Birthday Party and a Q&A afterwards. It was a great venue for this event.
Excellent cosy cinemas. We went through the Saturday night to watch Shayda movie seats were comfy.
This is a good cinema nice snacks and drinks Great audio, visibility and seating
Interesting group of cinemas. Nice atmosphere in the cafe. Comfortable seats.
Characterful old cinema. Good prices. The wintertime mulled wine is lovely.
A lovely little cinema ,the staff are great and it is very relaxing.
Lovely heritage cinema showing movies often outside the mainstream.
Loved it. Very friendly staff, great smaller cinemas
