Revue Cinema is very nice. It's the old school movie theatre with nice decor inside. The staff are always friendly and very efficient when it's busy. It's a small theatre so I recommend getting your popcorn and beverages early. If you don't you may be standing in a line that stretches to the middle of the aisle (which it often does on a busy night) like it did tonight. I often go here for Drunken Cinema which is a great event that runs once a month. I went today for my third time and I highly recommend it. The Revue shows a lot of movies you wouldn't normally get to see. For example they're showing an old Charlie Chaplin movie in late March that I didn't even know about, and there will be live accompaniment by a piano player too! I'd enjoy seeing this. So as you can tell, all this is really great. I highly recommend the Revue but don't forget to buy your concessions early!!

I've done the Comic Book Breakfast with my youngest son for a few years now. The new venue has adopted a Covid protocol which is acceptable, but still needs some tweaking. People got jammed up trying to get in at the door and the theater was too cold for us. The comic selection was not as good as we've seen in the past, and we noticed that many people left early which usually doesn't happen. They work the lobby well with individual size servings where they pour the milk from behind the counter, but there were too many people being served at the same time in such a small space. On the plus side, the total experience still brought out the inner nerd in us.

Ah the Revue what is there to say really? This is the best little independent cinema going in my opinion. This not for profit community driven theater makes it fun and engaging to go every time. Their monthly schedules are always A+ with movies for everyone. It's never hard to find a night where something interesting isn't playing. However it's much more than that! They have many additions to their screenings other than just the movie itself. Whether it's a drunken cinema night, a 3D family movie, question and answer sessions or the many other things they do this place really has it all for the movie lover.

Visiting from Scotland with a Horror Fanatic, a Friday the 13th screening of Friday the 13th Part 8 was a must. Being volunteers at our local indie cinema and participants in many interactive film experiences we were geared up to enjoy the experience with a slightly cynical view of an old timer. We were wrong to be cynical. The love and enthusiasm of every one involved really shines through. From both the staff and the audience. And most importantly The seats are comfy, snacks and drinks are good too. If you are interested in cinema at all this is a great stop when you’re in Toronto.

I love this independent cinema!! Some of my most memorable moments in the many hours I have spent watching movies in my life, took place at the Revue during the late '70s and early '80s. As a salient example, it was there that I watched all the hilarious films by the Marx brothers -again and again- as well as many other vintage movies - many of them unavailable elsewhere at the time. Long life to the Revue! From a lifelong fan and keen advocate of quality independent movie theaters - now living in Chile.

Nice community repertory theatre, plays mostly recent Hollywood pics with a selection of special screenings, family-friendly stuff for the kid-laden Roncesvalles crowd too. Prices are not particularly cheap ($12 or so) but less than a Cineplex. Screen is smaller and definitely no 3D or IMAX experiences here. Still a great option to have in the west end. They have a decent snack selection and sell beer (and maybe wine) during licensed special events -- but not most normal screenings.

  • Lauren Maxine

Favourite movie theatre! Love this independent theatre that offers new movies, old movies, great prices on admission and food, and really great events. My favourite events they do are Throwback Cinema, where they show an older movie -- possibly one you grew up watching-- and the Dumpster Raccoon series, which involves watching old cult classics with fun preambles including trivia and a drag performance! You just can't beat the old school feel to the place and the lovely staff!

I've lived around the corner from Revue Cinema for more than 20 years but only recently started supporting it enthusiastically. The active members have in the past several years transformed it into an amazing, lively, meaningful community theatre that not only shows great movies, but surprises us with thought-provoking, educational, creative events. I'll bet none of the big cinemas provoke so much excitement and care! Bravo to the organizers!

This place is a vibe, let me tell you. The old school ambience combined with nostalgic movie classics and a very engaged audience make for an unforgettable viewing experience. It’s like watching your favourite movie among friends. That familiar, comfortable energy with hella jokes. Oh, and Sara is elite staff. Hooks it up good. Very relatable Makes the experience 10x better. Revue gained a huge W by hiring her.

  • Kimberly Savage

We were there for My Bloody Valentine! It was an awesome experience. Nathan Boon did a Q/A with the cast and Director. It’s an evening we won’t forget. The theatre it’s self is such a wonderful place to see a movie. I love the fact that older movies play here like the killer tomatoes and mommy dearest. The price to see a movie is under $15. I recommend if your in the area stop by for a show! You won’t be disappointed.

  • Mariel Ashlinn

The Revue is a fantastic local cinema that cares about the hearts and minds of its community. Their film selection is second-to-none, their theatre is well worn from years of local love. Most of the one star reviews are people with no lives piling on because they are upset that the theatre is taking precautions to protect it's patrons. Popcorn is the second best in the world (sorry the Bytowne's is just really good).

  • Samantha G.

My second Drunken Cinema (Scream 3 for Halloween) did not dissapoint. It was really great to do this again after lockdown lifted and we had a great time. They've got a good local beer selection, popcorn and the glow sticks and personal game cards make the whole experience more interactive while you get to watch a "so bad that it's good" type of movie. Thank you so much to the staff that put these events together.

  • Séana Stewart

i love coming to the revue so much !!! from arthouse classics to foreign cinema to beloved throwbacks - they program it all. pretty much impossible for a month to go by where they’re not showing at least one personal must see. popcorn is great, drink selection is good, chairs are beyond comfortable ! one thing to note though is they BLAST the AC in the summertime, so be sure to bring a sweater or a jacket :)

  • Laura Bojarzin

Winner of 2018 NOW Magazine's Reader's Choice Award for Best Independent Film Venue Best popcorn (WITH REAL BUTTER!!) in the city, great staff! Love the classic cinema feel, and the prices can't be beat. Who could ask for more? And don't forget the biodegradable straws! They offer many kinds of beer, wine, and coolers. Nachos, popcorn and specialty chocolate make for great snacks, in comfortable chairs.

  • Fito H

Attended the Japanese film (Aijo) series recently, the place is within easy reach of public transit and parking facilities are easily attainable around. The staff have been welcoming and helpful, the host was pleasant and friendly. The audio had been great and the movie was wonderful. While the seats were not the most comfortable, i felt welcome and accommodated, and for that i am content.

  • Benjamin Winter

The Revue is such a charming place to watch a film. It’s a simple one screen theatre that show excellent new films, lots of classics, and cult films too. Every time I go I feel like I am participating in an an event and not just consuming media but viewing art. I would highly recommend anyone into film or who lives in the city to come here. There’s always something good showing!

  • M. Smith

I love this theatre so much. Went the other week and really enjoyed it. Tickets available in person 30 mins before each showing. Had popcorn, soda and chocolate which was great. I went around the Oscars so they sold chocolate in the shape of an Oscar haha, made by a local chocolate maker. Really cute and only $3. I felt bad eating it because it was so cute. Recommend!

  • Mike Maunz

Cozy, intimate environment. Spacious and very comfortable seating giving a great view of the screen. Clean, modern and classy renovations make this theatre-going experience a pleasure that extends beyond the actual film. My first time here and it eased my often "claustrophobic" feelings at a movie theatre. A most enjoyable experience, definitely to be repeated!

  • Kristian Reimer

The Revue is one of great independent movie theatres in Toronto. It is worthy of taking me in a picture here. The lobby is small, the auditorium is intimate, and screen is just the right size. The nostalgia factor of this place doubles, dare I say -triples, when watching a movie on the screen here. Get a ticket, grab your popcorn and just go see a movie here.

  • Sean Parsons

Although it's a small theater this is a great place to go with your family and support this great little theater they got the movies in as fast as they can but because there is a small theater they have to wait the longest to get the copies to put on screen they do their very best and they do a great job you should come and support this cool little theater

  • jacob s

I never really got into independent theatres. I liked the convenience and variety of chain theatres, but this place changed my mind, now I come here way more than I do the big chains. Amazing staff, great community of polite movie goers, variety of unique series', an eclectic selection of iconic, cult classic, and niche picks. It's pretty well priced too.

  • George Banovac

Feels like home. Are you sure you ever left? New features and events to see every day. A rememberable cinematic experience. The seating is super comfortable. I want to see New York Ninja again.. forget about the big Hollywood schlock. I will throw my body in front of the building before it's turned into a condo. Yea, that's how good my experience was.

  • Julian G

Great cinema that seems to have a lot of loyal and passionate fans. Check out their Drunken Cinema lineup for an “interactive experience.” I went for their Roadhouse version and it was such a riot. This nonprofit gem is a staple of the community supports multiple charities and neighbourhood schools. Take a stroll down roncy while you’re at it.

  • Ben Gane

The Revue is a great community cinema with inexpensive prices and friendly staff. In addition to recent releases, their films series and special showings always offer a unique experience, ranging from classics accompanied by panel discussions to lost gems from bygone eras. Definitely worth popping in for a show if you're a west-end resident.

  • Rebeca Polo

I so adore the look and feel of this cinema, it has such a special atmosphere and a great history behind it. I recently learned that it was closed in 2006 and reopened / redecorated by the people of Roncesvalles one year after, in 2007. After that, it was turned into a not-for-profit cinema until nowadays. Visit it, support it and enjoy!!!

  • Lynne Teperman

Enjoyed the movie. Haven't been out to Roncesvalles for a movie in a long while and was delighted to see how nicely the ladies room was renovated. Before the mo ie, enjoyed a beverage at Coffee & All that Jazz. After the movie, took a nice stroll and dinner at Barque's Butchers shop. Great afternoon and evening. Will definitely return.

  • Kaitlyn Kochany

The Revue is a retro community cinema, programmed with oldies favourites, indie new releases, and special events that appeal to film newbs and nerds alike. The building is lovely (although the bathrooms are very small!), with a well-appointed snack counter and thoughtful staff. Definitely recommend for a date night or family excursion.

  • faded

super cool theater that is always playing classics. good size and tickets always sell out so buy in advance!! i love the previews before the movies start, they are edited by people that work with the theatre and they are so fun and well done, never thought the previews would be a highlight of going to the movies but theyre great lolol

  • Nick Vasil

A fantastic neighbourhood cinema — they just don’t make them like this anymore. Features a small/medium-sized auditorium with a decent sized screen and cute snack bar with great snack/drink options. Highly recommend attending a screening here if you can! Drunken cinema is definitely one of my faves, especially around Halloween!

  • johanna milic

Always and forever, a great neighborhood indie cinema for film buffs of all types:world cinema, the silver screen era, children's movies .... And the community events are alot of fun too! The staff are friendly and the vintage lobby sets the mood for an enjoyable unique experience . I have been a fan since childhood. …

  • Kevin Ronald

Comfortable seats, a concession stand that has wine and brews for purchase and something other than the same old Hollywood movies. There are no bad seats throughout the entire cinema either. Have a baby/toddler? Then come to the parent and child showings. Support your local rather than faceless mega corporation today!

  • Eiann Mascoll

Toronto's oldest movie theater, it is now a Non profit organization it is very well maintained. The price is reasonable. The service is friendly, and the movie quality is what you would expect from a theater this old. A fun night out, had a good time. Definitely would recommend that everyone does at least 1 visit.

  • Jarrett Blackburn

Nostalgia at it's best! Anyone who remembers movies pre cineplex days will really like this theatre. It's not for profit and prices are reasonable for what you get. They dont just show movies they provide unique experiences. I highly recommend the Boozy Revue. Grab a date and bring them here for a great time!

  • Daren

I've been here many times and my favourite screenings have always been the cult classics (e.g. Scream, The Lost Boys) because I get to experience everyone else hooting their favourite lines and hollering at the best scenes. I may not always be in on the joke, but the community is cute. Popcorn pops off too!

  • Ezzie Batura

Watched one of the Twilight movies with a friend. The crowd's reactions made this movie so much fun. I also like the effort they make you show movies according to themes or special occassions. Like Hawaii month (films set in Hawaii), or Riding in Cars with Boys playing on Drew Barrymore's birthday.

  • Martin E

Amidst the burgeoning monopoly of Cineplex theatres in the city, independently owned places like Revue Cinema shines in their curated movie selection and nostalgia. The smell scale auditorium is comfortable and the location can't be beat. I hope Revue continues to operate for many years to come

  • Zack A

The Revue Cinema is an amazing staple in the community. The events they put on are always a lot of fun and the atmosphere is classic and amazing. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. The prices at the snack bar are low though the quality of the popcorn and coffee can not be beat.

  • Hema N.

I watched Hocus Pocus here on Halloween and it was such a fun experience. The food available was a reasonable price for a movie theatre and the event was so enjoyable because everyone laughed and chuckled along with the show. Definitely want to come back to watch other movies in the future.

  • WonderWendy M

Big Trouble in Little China Drunk cinema So much fun watching classic movies combined with a drinking game! The energy of the crowd is what makes it so tremendous . Seats are spacious and comfortable. It sells out quickly so if it's a movie you really want to see get those advanced tickets!

  • Katherine Bignell-Jones

Great little neighborhood cinema. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The washrooms were very clean and so was the rest of the building. Popcorn was fresh and getting layered buttered popcorn was not a problem. Fabulous place that deserves to be well supported by the public. Go!

  • marion bonoan

Great small theatre to come in with friends. They have really cool events where they would show movies on film. Really cool to expreience the movie as so since most movies are being shown digital. Nice welcoming atmosphere really makes a point to bring the community through film

  • Amanda Hawke

It was absolutely the best interactive theater experience I've ever had! The feeling you get when you walk in is like jumping back to your childhood but with grown up juice We went to see Weird Science and we loved it! Will absolutely be back soon, and you should too …

  • karen E

A lovely community theatre capturing the unassuming nostalgia or yesteryear. Great efforts by the volunteers went into organizing the 'Tragically Hip's final concert. So a Big Thank You! to the volunteers and to the director for making it a special and memorable evening. Karen.

  • Mikael Johansson

Support your local theatre! These people really care about what they do, and you can feel it in every inch of this place. I immediately felt connected to the local community of film lovers when I sat down for their screening of Pieces (1982). Everyone should catch a show here.

  • Peter Hadfield

A neighbourhood staple of Roncesvalles. One of the oldest theatres in the country, so I’m told. The chairs are creaky, and the isn’t ‘stadium seating’ but the theatre’s charm and the sense of community isn’t comparable to a multiplex theatre. There’s something special here.

  • Charles Bernard

Great local small movie theatre. Very well organized. They even use REAL butter for popcorn. Movie selection is great. Very warm and cozy seats! One thing is that the washroom signs are kind of confusing. But who cares!!!!!!!!! This is a perfect movie theatre for everyone!

  • Keira Cuthbert

This movie house is a classic in Toronto. They play mostly old movies with a lot of seems like drunk in cinema. Everyone who comes here is considered a movie buff and looking to enjoy some old classics. The theatre is cosy and fun. Great for couples friends or families.

  • Kareem sakr

One of my favorite spots in all of the city, they screen some movies that are very hard to catch on the big screen anywhere else. I’m glad to be within commuting distance from the revue cinema and forever a supporter. My favorite is when they screen the Ghibli movies

  • Adam Jefford

Best indie theatre in the city. Their programming is excellent, prices are reasonable and the locals are very committed which makes the viewing experience amazing. One particular highlight is their commitment to 90’s and 2000’s trashy films which is a nice touch.

  • Janna Marano

Absolutely charming cinema. The programming is also usually on point. Def worth a visit if you're looking for a break from the usual screenings at Cineplex (not that anything is wrong with Cineplex). Film geek haven sandwiched between 2 cozy neigbourhood bars.

  • Liisa Donaldson

Wonderful independent cinema. The chairs are a smidge narrow but they are separated with a barrier so your not smooshing with your neighbour. Also they lean so comfy and there's room between the rows. Good popcorn, friendly staff. Great events. We'll be back!

  • Jahnine Farquharson

Cute, quaint and well managed historical cinema. Comfy seats, great popcorn, reasonable priced refreshments, non-gendered washrooms. And .. a great selection of films. What's not to love? Took 20 school-aged kids here last PA Day and we had a real blast!

  • nathaniel driscoll

Nice location, very helpful staff, good selection of drinks and snacks also alcoholic beverages are available, the building itself is very old having been built in 1912 so it has a great Providence. I definitely recommend a visit to this fine establishment

  • Andrew Agnew-Iler

Fantastic atmosphere, movie selection and community. Slope of the floor is dated but that would be a huge undertaking to fix so I can't really complain. Lots of leg room and the seats kind of lean back which is lovely. Don't sit too close though!

  • Lawrence Lee

First time visit to see a Halloween themed showing of Ghostbusters. A lovely community event with kids and a few adults in costume. A very creative woman curated the event with an introduction to the movie and she'd made loot bags for everyone!!

  • Luka

LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!!!!! so many memories from when i was a little kid, they are always so kind and play great movies with surprisingly good quality despite my other experiences with older theatres!!!!! fantastic. couldn't recommend it more.

  • Anna Roginska

Love this theatre. The festivals are fantastic, and the audience makes this place rock! There is alcohol, including cider and local beer. For popular shows: get tickets ahead of time, as screenings can sell out (and the rush line gets long).

  • Nicholas Giamblanco

I love The Revue. If you have the chance, you should definitely see a film here. The history of this place is amazing. They offer a great selection of films, have tasty snacks and overall, provide a very inviting and welcoming environment!

  • David S.

Best little cinema in the city. A real sense of community with concessions that won't break the bank. Also licensed. Update: Still the best little theatre in Toronto. Fun events and friendly staff. Shows are constantly selling out. …

  • Baby Irene

In the past the Revue was a very special theatre. Regularly showing a good mix of older and current films. That was a long time ago. These days the selection of films is very limited, the prices are high and the staff can be clueless and

Came here for a special event screening, it was a full house! Seats are comfy and non-squeaky. Popcorn is fresh- deliciously buttered and seasoned. Great community theatre, come watch new releases here and support this great place!

  • David Neinstein

I really appreciate the programming here. There's a great mix of popular movies as well as curated one-offs and unique series. The staff are awesome, the seats super comfy and the sound and image are top notch. A neighbourhood gem.

  • jeremy johnson

Went there last Tuesday. The show was sold out, but we managed to get in due to others cancellation. So... it's a great venue, BUT it seems to be very popular. Buy your tickets beforehand and arrive early. Can't wait to go again!

  • Sarah

The seating is spacious and they have such a great selection of movies. I've gone once where the subtitles didn't line up with the screen causing a whole part of a movie to be lost on me. Other than that, it's an excellent spot.

  • Johnson Luong

Great small cinema to go see some classic films in. The staff are friendly and the theatre is good quality. There is only 1 auditorium so the experience is quite catered and simple. Recommend supporting this local establishment.

  • Christian Spavins

Amazing independent cinema! Awesome place to come if you want to see a movie on the big screen that you'll never find at a cineplex. The lobby still has that classic look that you'd expect, feels like walking back in time.

  • luxe lyon

was here for the Wild at Heart screening which was filled with such a unique, safe and fun energy, people were dressed to the nines and the hosts were perfect! will be back soon :) P.S. please screen Fire Walk With Me!

Great staff, great old/authentic (and so lovely) movie theatre. Very simple, small, but very nice place to be on a lonely night for a good movie. Revue is non-profit organization. A variety of events organized too!

Great interactive experience. I had a lot more fun than in a conventional movie theater. Also, a good way to bring back forgotten gems of movies from the past. We had a blast!

A wonderful neighborhood cinema with a massive screen and great sound system. They always have the best canteen staff - friendly and personable. Bathroom is always spotless.

  • Michael Bregar

Great renovated neighborhood theatre which has kept its charm. They are reasonably priced and offer free movie screening events during the holidays. Place can fill up fast.

  • Lee Frankis

Charming spot, old seats that seem comfortable when you first sit down, but if you're over 30 you'll certainly leave thinking the chairs weren't comfortable after all.

  • Shifan “Sheff Deen” Shahabdeen
