"My experience at the village cinema gold class ( that’s what they call it ) was very disappointing"
Third time I have variations of this experience visiting this cinema, not funny anymore! So most recent visit Gold Class. We ordered food and identified times for it to be brought to us. 1. Placed our order and the server came back to process payment, He informed us that he had used some of our points to pay for a drinks/popcorn combo as it worked out cheaper. We did not ask for this as we are trying to save our points 2. Drinks and popcorn arrived on time - wrong drinks. It was what we ordered for delivery halfway through the movie, so took those thinking we would get the original drinks with our food. 3. One hour later (not halfway through as requested) a 2nd box of popcorn and the original drinks arrived. We returned the popcorn, explained what we had ordered and asked if the food was coming as we wanted to eat the food and drinks together. We were assured it was on its way and would be there shortly, 30 minutes later it arrived. I understand that things get mixed up, but so many issues with one order - and it’s all written down and put into the computer. As mentioned before, we have had similar issues on our last 3 visits. Why are the staff seemingly unable to take down orders and add them into a PC?? Definite communication and timing issues that need to be addressed
Well this was an experience, thought my partner and I would go see a nice Sunday movie and go gold class for a treat. $128 later for tickets a coke n popcorn, we were forgotten to be told our movie was starting, then went into the movie they forgot our drink and popcorn tools about 30min to come attend to us during the movie then another 45min to bring out the snacks ( which were suppose to be at start of movie not 1:15hr into it. One of the two recliner chairs was broken and the table had had something sticky spilt all over it from the session before. After leaving the movie walking out to have a chat with a staff member found the 3 staff leaning against the walls or sitting down all on there phones with zero eye contact made to patrons and when attempting to get attention was met with a eye roll and “do you want something?” Gold class all the way! Do better village cinema no wonder you’re struggling.
Enjoyed the evening very much. We were received and seated in gold class reception, cheery staff, all smiles even behind masks. Our drink and meal requests were taken in short order and we were ready to go. In due course we were taken in and seated, as one of our first outings it was excellent. Our movie started and on queue our meal service began. The meal selection was very good, quality and quantity. The seating and viewing position excellent, even thou we had an edge position it still felt as if we were centrally positioned, this is great planning and design. Disappointingly the seats cleanliness were not to the same level as service, meals and friendliness, superficially clean, the sides were pop corned, both sides and seats, cleaners you dropped the ball. Putting the pop corned seats aside, it was a great evening out, movie, meal, sound and comfortable. Naturally, we will be back!
We have been to Gold Class many times here but tonight we are very disappointed. They asked us to sit in the lounge, gave us the menu and the staff said someone will come and take our orders. No one came, after 20 min at the lounge, we started wondering if the movie already started. So we got someone, she apologised that we have been forgotten and the movie had already started. So we missed the first 15 min or so! The food was terrible, we ordered the taco and fish and chips. It looked like it was prepared in a hurry, poor ingredients and presentation. The taco was soaked in sauce, dripped all over the place. Then they forgot our drinks order. I pressed the button, it took about 15 min before someone came. The movie nearly ended by then. Terrible experience.
My experience at the village cinema gold class ( that’s what they call it ) was very disappointing. The recliner chairs were not comfy! and to make matters worse, the movie started at 9:30pm but the things we ordered before entering the cinema hadn’t arrived if arrived at 10:30pm so after 1 hour. We had to keep buzzing the light to inquire about our drinks and snacks. They even brought us a Heineken beer we didn’t order. The Coke was flat, and the hot chocolate was only lukewarm. To top it off the popcorn was cold, which was quite amusing in a sad way we didn’t end up drinking or eating anything even when the movie is finished there were no staff to complain for lol. In conclusion I won’t be returning to this cinema.
Just watched Barbie movie there on Monday night in their Gold Class cinema. 1st was terrible services as we didn't get exactly with what we ordered. 2nd was the manager's attitude is not well-trained compared to waiters as he not showing any respect to me when he talked or fixed the issue. 3rd was we waited for about 45mins after the movie was shown for our pre ordered food and waited another 30mins for staffs to show up after we pressed the button to call for help so I have to come out during the movie to talk to one of their staffs. Just not happy with the services and not worth the money that I paid for what they call Gold Class tickets. Never comeback to this cinema in the future.
Lovely staff, big theatres, just 2 things I found different about this venue. While there is a lift to upstairs, those with Mobility issues, may be limited to sitting at the back row. This is because when you enter the actual theatre's you are presented with the back row of seats first. Most movie theatre's I go to the entrance is closer to the screen and should you choose to sit at the back you can climb the stairs. Taking people with disabilities I prefer to enter near the screen, so that the person I am with can choose how close to the screen they would like to be and to also have access to the wheelchair friendly access seats. Also I didn't see recliner seats here
Had an absolutely lovely girls night out with my daughter to see Ticket to Paradise! The staff here are the best. The lounge area is still well maintained given the years this area has been here. The cinema is so well maintained! Very very clean! We were really happy with the service and the food - yummo! I had the barra and chips - delish. My daughter had the burgers and was really happy with her choice. Dessert my daughter had the sticky date which she was happy with. I had the tiramisu probably won't have that next time as l found it really dry. The ice was nice but the rest left me flat. But that did not take anything away from our night out.
Disappointing Gold Class experience. Food didn’t arrive. Asked staff to check ok it. He returned and said it wouldn’t be long. Movie ends and no food. Got a refund for the food (only) but the fact is that the two of us sat through movie hungry which was a uncomfortable distraction. When you sell an “experience” all elements are important. Not just the movie, not just the food or the environment. Anyway, recommendation is to go to city instead. I normally like Gold Class so no joy in writing this review.
Bought my daughter here today to watch super pets. The food was atrocious. Her burger was rubbery and the meat smelt awful. Couldn't blame her for refusing to eat it. I didn't want to kick up a stink so I just ordered the tenders and chips for her instead. The tenders arrived charred to a crisp and inedible. Even in the dark they were clearly burnt. Unacceptable by any standards let alone 'gold class'. Won't be visiting the Doncaster gold class again.
I have no idea how this cinema gets 4 stars. The gold class is ok, but the vmax and non gold class seats are atrocious. Not only is the seat cushion worn beyond belief feels like I’m sitting on a milk crate, seat upholstery are also stained and gross. This reminds me of the hoyts northland prior their renovation… Doncaster village is clearly one that the group just left and forgot…. 2 stars because the sound system is still good.
Lost a beanie here, but cannot contact anyone at Village Cinemas Doncaster at all without attending in person. I even emailed their “lost property” department, who also said they have no way of contacting staff at the Doncaster cinema remotely. This is insane. I don’t want to spend my weekend driving all the way to Doncaster on the off chance it may still be in their lost property. What an absolute joke.
Understandably they were short staffed due to illness. However we couldn't purchase a drink in the foyer, whilst we looked at menu. My seat was dirty with food stains, our drinks ordered earlier, arrived one hour into movie, and we didn't receive desserts ordered. Disappointed as our tickets were gifted by my sons and our experience was so bad we will not be returning! They should have rescheduled.
Gold Class here is great. The lounge is a lovely place to relax with a glass of wine before you go to your seats. Staff are very friendly and happy to help and bring your orders to your seat. Below scores are out of 10 Customer Service 9.5 Food Quality 7 Atmosphere 9 Presentation 8.5 Products 8.5 Location 9 Parking: Free 2 hour parking at Westfield. Lots of parking always available. Overall 9
Took my elderly mum out for an outing. Parking is terrible. Lifts don't work. Staff are indifferent. Took me 15 minutes to get a drink. Paid $16 for two bottles of water! After a cinema was cleaned we went in...an empty greasy box of food was left in the aisle, in plain view! There seems to be no system with people jumping the queue, no management, no signage... awful place.
Perfect customer service. Online ticket booking available. Good place to spend time with the family watching movies. Very comfortable chairs, fancy look, and wide screen. You can get a good deal by buying tickets with popcorn and ice cream however, you need to take care as the popcorn box will open from the bottom and make a miss.
Went in to watch Barbie and had the worst experience. Terrible service. We asked for two waters and popcorn, and never got them after requesting multiple times. Even saw the waiters giving people the wrong orders. Ended up getting a refund because they couldn't get the simplest things right. Do NOT recommend to watch a movie here!
Went to Gold Class for the first time. The overall experience was very good, high quality food and service. However the food was way too expensive, just not worth the price for my income level. And to be honest, eating when watching movie, in a dark environment, is kind of weird. Not considering going again.
Don’t waste your money on gold class, the cinemas smell musty, the glasses are dirty and the service was terrible. It took 50 minutes to get a glass of wine and the popcorn we ordered for half way through the movie came 20 minutes before it finished. Go to Hoyts where you can get reclining seats anyway.
The Gold class cinema is clean and the staff is amazing and very attentive. Food wise it was a disappointment I had a gold class experience where u get 5 meals and free drinks. The burger buns were stale and the chips were cold felt like it sat there for atleast 15 min before they served it.
We were served by a super friendly customer service host in gold class. We ordered the mini duo dinner package for $99 plus a bottle of sparkling for $24. Reasonably good value considering the cost of buying these individually. We enjoyed the sliders; barramundi burger and Angus burger.
Gold Class felt and looked like an airport lounge. Food is overpriced. And Village need to sort there website out. It's shocking! Couldn't get my vouchers to work. Kept saying error. No telephone support if the website is broken. I emailed support and received no response. Awful.
Nice screen but we didn't feel (as a family of four) that we could sit together as a family as the rows were clusters of 2 seats. The seats were also not cleaned between shows so had lot of popcorn in the seat folds from its previous occupants. Food and drink choices were fine.
I don't go to the cinemas often, but recently took my young daughter to see The Little Mermaid. It was a great experience for her. The new audio and big screen technology was great. I'm guessing all movie cinemas are like this now, but it was a fun and comfortable experience.
April 2022 - Seats were comfortable with good leg room. Only a handful of people present so no problems with patron noise. Down side was that the air conditioning was cold without many patrons to warm up the room, take a jacket. Didn't purchase from candy bar.
I went to the toilet during my movie. There was no toilet paper. I couldn't get up off the toilet because of this. I missed the entire movie by being stuck in the toilet. I asked for a refund and all they gave me was more toilet paper.
Village website is adding costs to your tickets even if you have a voucher for a full ticket. Not good enough and if you try to ring the theatre there is no contact person just a machine that tells you the movie details. Do better.
Very nice and modern when opened, but now dated. Good Class and VMax are OK, but the standard cinemas need to be upgraded. While Hoyts now offer [semi] reclining seats in all cinemas, Village still has [comfortable, yet] old seats.
Booked in for the bottomless brunch in gold class and the service was amazing!! There was a slight hiccup but the staff was really professional and accomodating. Would definitely recommend, it was also great value for money
My wife received a special offer on tickets, so we went, but when it came to pay, we were charged the normal price for myself and a discount for my wife very odd because I'm a member also I didn't argue but fair is fair
Was forced to pay for parking. Arrived after 6pm on a Saturday night. Validated my movie ticket, got the extra hour. But because the movie was over 3.5 hours long I had to pay $6 for the extra time I was there.
Nice and new cinema situate among the eateries. Plenty of options for food if you dont eat in the Gold class. Gold class was nice, staffs very attentive and very prompt. Very good service.
Unfortunately Westfield Village Doncaster, standard cinema's are outdated 80's, 90's style, and not comfortable anymore. Need to compete with Hoyts Recliner's. Much better experience.
Was there in theatre 5 for Avatar 2. Fantastic screen and audio effects. Recommend arrive at your seat just on time so you won’t spend about 20 mins or more for long advertisement:(
Went to Gold Class. Kids were kicking my seat for the entire second half of the movie, were running around the cinema, and talked for most of the film. Couldn’t see their ps around.
Great screen and seats. Gold class is NOT worth it. Slow service, forgetting the order, sub par food, overpriced. Just go to a normal screen and eat at a great restaurant.
Gold class Men's toilets are dreadful...strong smell and urine on the floor 2 weeks in a row. Awful...for Gold Class you expect much better than this.
Great cinema! I really enjoyed watching the little mermaid Also it was so easy to buy a ticket with the self serve machines …
The seats are not comfortable and so don't enjoy the movie as much. Hope you guys update your seats to be as comfortable if not more than Hoyts
Tickets are very expensive compared to other cinemas, however the seats were much more uncomfortable. I will not be visiting Village again.
Great and clean cinema , enjoyed the night , just a bit of uncomfortable seats , but other than that all good
Watched Avatar today with Telstra Plus discount price. Good local cinema to watch 3 hours movie.
Very clean toilets place to be .. excellent helpful staff.. love the Gold class cinema..
Excellent sound and ventilation systems with comfy seating and enough leg space
Nice cinema. Pretty much like every other village cinema on the planet.
Toilets were bad, cineama was a little worn but overall was good!
The gold class experience , is good cinemas, service and food
My favourite village to visit. Clean. Good parking.
Good night out but the pricing is too high
