My experience at this cinema was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. I had eagerly anticipated watching the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, which was advertised on their website as PG13. I took my younger sibling, who is over 13, with me. However, when we reached the ticket counter, we discovered that the actual rating was PG16. I pointed out the website mistake, and only then did they correct it. I bought two tickets, and as we entered, I noticed other kids younger than my sibling in the screening. While we waited for the movie to start, a staff member approached my brother and asked him to leave the screening due to complaints from parents who had left their children outside. I left with my brother and went to another screening of a kids' movie, as I couldn't leave him alone on a bench with toddlers and adolescents. It was frustrating that the management had finally decided to enforce the rules after years of inconsistency. People used to get away with much worse, like bringing toddlers to PG16 movies and allowing outside food in the cinema. Moreover, they didn't do anything to stop ticket fraud, where people would buy cheaper tickets and sneak into other screenings. This experience has made me reconsider ever going back to this so-called "cinema." Unlike the parents and staff, I was considerate of the situation, not wanting my brother to be left outside. I will never even consider returning to this mismanaged, pathetic excuse of a cinema and not even a sorry or acknowledgement of the mistake they made.

Recently been to this movie theatre to watch Fast X. Unreserved seating, had to purchase tickets at the popcorn counter if you had a rewards card (which was really delaying) and with many people needing service of choosing their popcorn and drinks it was not feasible so I opted to use the automated counters instead where sadly so you don't get to use your rewards card. The usual counter on the opposite side have staff who sit there to process your tickets. There was no one there either. Perhaps it was quiet but either way, at least 1 person should have been there so people could use their rewards cards. Anyways, overall if that was sorted out and it was more streamlined this would get 5 stars

I was accused of being 13 and I had a picture of my birth certificate and ID and they still refused to let me and my twin brother watch the movie and the lady helping was being absolutely horrible to us and even refused to give us her name. So i guess if you don't look 'old' they don't allow you to watch movies even if provided with ID and birth certificate. Please be aware of this next time visiting the movies. I wouldn't recommend going to movies@goldreef and rather try out Ster-kinekor as they don't accuse you of being 13. That was my 13th reason tbh

Pathetic!!!. Booked online to watch Barbie. Went to Gold Reef, paid, bought snacks, seasoned our popcorn. We couldnt watch the movie, as my daughter was only 9. Yet other children of different race groups an much younger than my daughter coyld go in and watch. We demanded a refunded and the extremely rude staff only wanted to refund us R160 after spending close to R900.thet also wanted the slush, popcorn and sweets back...to re-sell...their words. Catch a wake up Gold Reef City. PG13 MEANS PARENTAL GUIDANCE .

Pathetic service, booked 4 tickets online for barbie and oppenheimer, the ticket confirmation did not appear on my email. Contacted them to refund my tickets 3 of the tickets were refunded, when I got to gold reef and explained my situation the reception said that the payment had not reflected on their system, and there was nothing they could about it, in fact they could not be interested the slightest bit in helping us resolve the situation, went back with neither an apology nor a refund.

I purchased tickets online and couldn't use them when we went to the theater. They said I had to repurchase the tickets and I'd get my money back... this was a month ago and I gave still not gotten that money back. They have been ignoring my emails stating that the money has not reflected in my account and I haven't heard from then since the beginning on May. Absolutely disgusting customer service.

Convenient cinema in the south of JHB. Clean and comfortable seating. I particularly like the fact that the cinema is built according to the theme of a train station. The movie staff act as conductors which is also a nice touch. If you are a card holder the movies are at a discounted price which makes it even more of a reason why you should watch movies in the south at Gold Reef.

Great place to watch movies. Cost effective and well designed. Not the best tech and sound but does its purpose for a last minute movie. Platform 6 is the best to watch movies, leather seats and spacious. Also the seats are separated for social distancing. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Toilets are super cleaned, love the bathroom design.

We recently went to watch the Barbie movie, thought they would have the whole set up like some of the other Nu metro cinemas to take pictures because alot of people were dressed up, so were we but got there and there was nothing. Would have been nice if there was something:) It's the only closest cinema to home now.

It is a good movie theatre, the prices are also quite resonance. Make sure you make a gold reef city card then use it to purchase your tickets as this will give you a discount. Improvements can be made in the communication side as they are difficult to get ahold of if you call in.

The movies at Gold Reef provide customers with a well priced selection of snacks and affordable movie tickets. The staff are friendly and love interacting with their customers. The decor is fabulous and resembles a train station. Overall a fantastic movie watching experience.

Affordable movie tickets just the lady didn't tell me I need 3D glasses which was an inconvenience for me. Luckily I got the glasses but what made me mad was she was being rude to me not admitting she was wrong. That been said I will come back.

Having a rewards card is an added bonus. Staff are super efficient and friendly and deal well with the long queues. Movie house is always clean. Social distancing seating. I'd recommend the epic combo for couples good value for money.

The management and staff are amazing! I took my special needs kids and they did nothing but make my girls feel welcome. They definitely gave my daughter's an experience that I never thought was possible. Thank you! thank you!

Something different with the railway station theme. Loads of ladies toilets. Everything was neat and clean. There are no cashiers at ticket sales so it was confusing as to where to purchase tickets, no one to guide us.

Although the lines are quite long it's 100%worth the wait. The entertainment areas for the children are amazing, cassino is always lively. Parking is secure

Screen and sound were nice. But seats are not that comfortable. Even tho it was a hot weather they didn't make Air condition ON. Poor Management.

Movie started out with zero sound. Does nobody make sure everything is working hundred percent before someone comes out and asks for assistance.

Good movie theater. Discounts it you gave a Goldreef card which is free at the entrance. The popcorn and drinks are reasonably priced.

Gold reef city movies are a special unique offering and experience. I always love the look and feel, the ambience and service.

Always clean and neat and never crowded in the cinema. Definitely a better choice with the kiddos too.
