Archives is the under rated station serving the Pennsylvania Avenue corridor at 7th Street NW. If you're going to something at the Verizon Center, this a pretty good stop to get off at to avoid the crowds. The Navy Memorial is immediately at the entrance for the station. You're also a block away from the Federal and City Courts. You're also a short walk from the Portrait Gallery and across the street from the National Gallery of Art. Foot traffic is normally pretty low; a mix of tourists and business people.
My Dad served in the U.S. Navy in WW II aboard a naval cruiser the USS Montpelier. His ship was hit by ONE kamikaze aircraft on November 27, 1944 in the Philippines. Four more attacks followed. No deaths occured on board ship. Using aluminum from the fuselage of the Japanese plane and green, black and clear plastic from the instrument panel he fashioned the weapon seen here. Actual size of knife and 1/2 " tip to tip.
Close enough to the Archives Museum - a 10-minute walk for the average person, which by DC standards is not a very long walk - however, there is no direct connection to the museum. The station has the standard subway amenities and like many stations, lacks restrooms.
This station is very clean and well maintained. My only complaint is that the elevator from the street down to the Metro was literally filled with urine. Once I got out of the elevator that was not a continuing issue.
Me gusto mucho la organización de las diferentes exhibiciones. Lo único lamentable es que no dejan tomar fotos, claro que entendemos que es por cuestiones de seguridad y proteger los archivos.
One of the less crowded stations downtown. Can ride one stop to l'enfant plaza and transfer to other lines. Will be better soon when all the escalators are replaced.
The metro is a bit dirty, but, if you are a fan of House of Cards, come to this station to find where Frank and Zoey met in season one episode two.
I feel safe at this station. It is usually clean and free of suspicious activity. The new trains operate on the green line so that’s nice too.
Since I travel into DC from Odenton, Md I use this station to see all the sites on the National Mall and Smithsonian museums.
I love this station, it is closest to my home. 20 minutes to the DCA Airport. Unfortunately, no direct line to IAD.
muy fácil de llegar usando la aplicación es la estación más sercana a los museo más solicitados de la ciudad.
Station was a bit dirty, with someone/something having "relieved" themselves in the elevator.
Accessible center-platform station. Average condition. Fantastic memorial above ground.
Several Eagle and Walton family members served in the Navy and are remembered here.
Staff is very nice and helpful, and the bathroom is super clean!
Station is near by the Nantional Gallery of Art. Very clean
What a great view of the national archives from here.
It was nice ride from the Airport to the station.
