Always have plenty of stock but the reason I’ve come to leave a review is because of one particular staff member here. I come to this store after work sometimes and this wonderful gentleman is always at the front of store/greeter. A fantastic older gentleman who deserves recognition for what he does! He always remembers me, always has a smile on his face and says hello and genuinely cares about all his customers! One day I entered the store in a rush with heavy bags (the escalators again weren’t working and I have severe asthma so the walk up with my heavy items triggered an attack) and he must have seen me struggling both to breathe and to get around and he ran over with a trolley for me and told me to “slow down and look after myself” Management at this store, recognize this man and give him some kind of reward!! When he saw me yesterday he again asked me how I was and told me to take it slow and enjoy the cool air in the store remembering me from the previous visit. What a superstar!!! Employee of the year for sure!! I visit many Big W stores and I’ve never come across a staff member as amazing and kind and compassionate as him! Thank you to this man you make a real difference and I am very grateful to you for all you do!!

Shocking first and last visit to big W today, the staff all seemed to be incompetent. We brought an Xbox game to drive all the way back to Richmond and discover the game wasn’t in the box, we then had to drive back and it took 5 different members of staff to fix it. Being passed from pillar to post, waiting around, go to tech, go to the front counter, go to the service desk it was painful!!! Finally spoke to a helpful lady at the service desk, the original guy that signed off the game on the self check out overheard the conversation and came over telling me it was my fault, and not his responsibility to check the game, I should of infact gone to the tech desk first to get the game then come to self serve?! As if it was my responsibility as a first time customer to know that I couldn’t just take one off a shelf! And it certainly wasn’t his responsibility to tell me that!! Tried to have a full on argument with me about it, the polite young lady defused the situation and took me to get the game finally! I won’t be returning lost 2 hours out of my day today wasting time, money and petrol on going here!!

I phoned the store to ask if they will price match a particular item from Target. They confirmed they will. I then asked them to double check the item and the Target website and they did and confirmed they will price match. They passed me onto the Tech department to put the item aside. I wanted to buy the item tonight and drove out a half hour later to the store. Once I got to the counter, I had to wait for the lady to get the item from the back which took a while and when I was ready to pay, I told her I wanted to price match with Target. She then said this is not possible as Target’s pricing was a sale price. I told her about my previous conversations but she did not honour the confirmation I received over the phone. Extremely disappointed with the service considering I had done my due diligence to call up and confirm the pricing but was left disappointed when I arrived in store. The store completely wasted my time and I hope they can fix their service issues. Moral of the story: just go to Target.

Big W in South Yarra is a large store with many products on offer. There are usually promotions or discounts, and the opening hours are great. However, there never seems to be enough staff. I can spend 5 minutes trying to locate a sales person for a simple query. I've never been served in the change rooms either. In saying all of this, there was a young girl (Alita) I believe her name was, who helped me with balloons last week; she was fantastic. I had called before hand and she left my details at the desk as she was finishing her shift. It just so happened when I arrived ten minutes later she was still there serving, and stayed back to help the ladies in front of me and myself. This sort of customer service is a rarity and I hope she knows it doesn't go unnoticed. Thank you for all your assistance and willingness as you knew I needed this order asap! :)

What is their to say about Big W that has not already been said a hundreds of times? always awesome sales and prices you will always find something that you did not expect you needed/wanted, my only concern is the mens clothing section's their seems to be a bit more of lack in different items just t-shirt's ,cargo pants, and smaller shorts selection, I would like to see some more non-seasonal items e.g autumn I would like to start buying winter type clothing or even have a better selection of jackets and jumpers because it dose start to become more of a wet session/windy session, as well hats are not much of a thing for men. while the ther kid's and women section have all of these in plenty. but this is more of a would like, big W chapel dose have (almost) everything you need. 10/10 would recommend.

The collection for eBay purchases is kinda horrible. Accessibility to the lockers are for staff only, and depending on who you're dealing with, they may ask for a photo ID (which is a first for me) though you have the email and SMS from eBay on your phone! I had to walk home to get my ID and back, just to be served by a nicer staff who didn't need my photo ID at all. The collection procedure needs to be standardised, else it's open for abuse and is dependant on how nice the staff is during collection. eBay never stated a need for photo ID, just the collection code, a barcode scan, or a Woolworths' reward card! From now on I'll send my parcels to Australia Post instead. Thanks but no thanks Big W!

Huge store with a good selection of merchandise. Only gripe is the manchester section - no rhyme or reason to the way the section is arranged. I was there to buy a king size duvet/doona/quilt cover. They weren't all in one place, they we scattered throughout every isle among the sheets. Sizing wasn't in the same place each time - sometimes king size was on the lower level, other times single or queen, etc. So it took too long to view the whole range, plus it was difficult to spot them at times mixed among the sheets. If they had a separate section for sheets, separate section for duvets etc, and arranged them by size - easy to spot.

Tried to return a blender which is only produced by big W. Did not come up on my rewards card. Did not want to replace or refund. I left the blender there. And then was followed by manager or personal until I left. Felt quite disturbing and confronting only wanted to return a product that was faulty that has a two year warranty on it. And felt like I did something wrong. Do not go to this store I definitely won't. Do yourself a favour and buy your cheep stuf from Kmart. Better service and better products and you do not have people supervisor following you in the store locator je you have stolen something Shame on you.

I am a 72 year old retired school teacher, and have recieved yet another abusive experience with a security guard at the South Yarra store for no apparant reason. I will not be returning for more verbal abuse and wiil be precautioning all my senior friends. I appreciate that even in this area , customers can get out of control, but that is no reason to take it out on us seniors. It used to be enjoyable to go shopping there, but now we are being treated like toilet paper. To the so called security guard in question, i would suggest that power corrupts. Poor customer service for me!! I couldn’t find what I was looking for and took a similar item to the assistant so it would be easier to explain what I wanted I was told they were all together. I asked for assistance and advised I could not see it there. I was told it would be In the next isle. I was then told it will be in the next isle!! I again asked for assistance. Should I have to ask for assistance this much?? I was purchasing glass items and then they wanted to charge me for one if their advertising bags. I was told they had no boxes to put it in. They eventually found a box for me when I insisted.

I ordered 3 jumpers online in my very first online order. About 2 hours later I received an email informing me that 2 items were "unavailable" and a credit was given. I have been in lockdown in a nursing home for 3 months and did not have the opportunity to go shopping in-store. I have no winter clothes and really needed those jumpers. A few days later I looked online again and those 2 jumpers appeared to be available. I rang the South Yarra store to check availability and was told that they WERE in fact in the store! That is truly disgusting BAD service. I will not buy online again!

Check out staff dont listen. I have purchased the same product for weeks which comes up with the wrong price. I have asked 6 different staff to please get it fixed but they ignore their customers - very poor customer service! Last retail assistant I asked to please get the price on a product corrected so that it is the same as advertised on the shelf told me "I actually have no interest in this product and you are the only one who buys it anyway" - I told her I will go somewhere else in the future and she replied "Ok that's fine" - goodbye Big W!!

Went there to buy a Tefal pan, did the self check out counter but there was a problem with the payment. I needed assistance but the manager in charge for the counters was busy chatting and I couldn't grasp his attention so I proceeded to another counter to pay. While I was on the way out, the manager chased after me as tough I was stealing the pan although I was holding the receipt with it. Not only he did not focus on his job, he didn't realise I paid at another counter. He humiliated & racially profiled me as the reaction was too obvious.

I just want to thank the fabulous team at Big W South Yarra for helping locate Donna Hay's Christmas cook book for myself and two colleagues to hopefully get signed this afternoon when we meet Donna Hay! One of my favorite department and variety stores for shopping is BigW. They offer a wide range of products, including clothing, electronics and home goods,  making it a convenient one-stop-shop. The prices at BigW are also affordable, especially during their frequent sales and promotions. I am a pensioner. I got a haircut for first time in 5 years so didn't know how much it would cost. Cost 125 but that's with foils so excellent value. My prob is I had little money, day before pay, and used it on my hair. This is my latest cal where I do groceries n normally U don't pay for parking. But they charged me $10 on top of a $125 hair cut, that's just wrong. Didn't have money for groceries after cut. Only needed milk really. So still charged me. That sux.

Now it's not bad but it could be alot more better as this is South Yarra...The store looks like the typical Big W store layout we're all familiar with and what it does it does it fine. However the toy line (especially the Transformer line) really has to be alot more better though especially compared to the cities Q.V. Big W?! But the store and especially the staff are great!!! Just fix up your toyline South Yarra Big W and all will be fine sigh.....

It is OK. Lots of products that we need are out of stock. The shop itself is tidy and neat. Most of the staff members are friendly and helpful. Also, love they save the infant formula for parents who really need them instead of putting them onto shelf and got taken to oversea. The printing department, computer is a bit dusty but the staff members are so nice and friendly. I like my local big w, hope it has the products replenished regularly.

Good quality clothes for kids every day play wear at a decent price. They have a good selection of school uniforms and school color tights for girls. Nothing fancy, and not the type of place to look for special occasion clothes or party dresses. But good for Jean's, tees, tracksuits, pyjama's socks, undies etc for kids. I find their clothing of s pretty good quality. Clothes tend to last a season, and not just one or two wears like Kmart.

Says item is in stock on website staff says it isn’t in stock straight away (doesn’t even look) and states the stock on the website isn’t up to date. I questioned doesnt that make the feature redundant then if it cant be used for its purpose. He was rude and said he doesn’t make the website so not his problem. I left unhappy and disappointed, regardless if the item was in stock or not he handled the issue in a rude gross manner.

Seriously understaffed. Tried to go to the entertainment section and found zero staff around. Had to find the entrance guy to have someone called over. By the time I got back, another customer had stolen my helper! Not their fault but she held him for so long I jeft after waiting another 10 minutes whilst another staff member ignored me whilst doing computer work. The store is fine but god help you if you need a staff member ...

Store security chased me out the store and tackled me... I had not done anything wrong... I called them poofters because they couldn't leave me alone... I told the 2 store pigs that they would no longer have a job and that if they touched me, I was going to tear both their heads off... After a short time they said 'see u later mate' and gave me a fist pump... I'm going back to rob them for sure...

Generally pleasant, but not much of a friendly greeting by a staff member when I visited recently. I was the one who greeted staff member saying Hi! How are you today, with no response from staff member except an exclamation of, nearly at the end of my shift!!! This was 1pm!! Maybe BIG W needs to prompt their staff to be friendly towards their customers!

The biggest problem is staff. They don't care about customers and often don't know much about products. When asked questions, they say they don't know and walk along. Shouldn't they be saying, 'I don't know to be honest but let me get someone who does know and can help you.' That's a much better approach that Big W staff are completely oblivious about.

received a very bad customer service on friday 26Jul around 4 pm, the girl in the customer service desk was very blunt and the duty manager who incharged on that time was worse. he talked with no manner and attitude, really not professional at all specially from that level of management. better go some where else to shop and receive a great experience

Things are kept pretty tidy, and all seems in order...easy parking at low prices in the basement car park. I see that some people go there in dirty old clothes and leave with stolen shoes and clothes from Big W

Had an incredible customer service experience the other day and today. Two young blokes Buddy, and Jono were extremely polite and helpful members of staff. Awesome market. Head there on a Sunday around 230 as you will start to get discounted produce. Also they have great souvenirs for fairly cheap. I didn't expect them to be that cheap. If you are just here on travel, this is the best place to get them. There is also an amsome coffee shop called MARKET LANE COFFEE. It is highly recommended.

Alright in terms of stock and what’s available, great party section. However, for many months prior to covid it was almost impossible to find staff to help sometimes. I think I’ve been unlucky and the few staff I have asked for assistance with finding items that are in stock have treated it as the biggest inconvenience of their day.

Not a great selection of stock. Most clothing items are size 12 upwards, smaller sizes are very limited. Not a great deal of stationary or electronics available. Really good travel section and pet section! Major dissapointment was the sercurity guard who insisted on checking my handbag after watching me self serve.

Do not order balloons from Big W. Never again. Out of the 40 I ordered, 12 popped when I took them out of the bag. I called and complained and the guy said it happens. they over inflat the balloons. Go elsewhere. Totally ruined our party!

It's a Big W. But in case you don't know what that is, think Walmart in the US. This one is large and has a good selection. Helpful staff greeted me and walked around the store with me to help give what I needed. RECOMMENDED

Terrible selection or better lack of selection of baby clothes, mostly untasteful and poor quality. The same applies to their selection of towels. It used to be a well stock shop, but not any more. Lack of taste and choice.

The same as every other Big W in the suburbs. Parking is a nightmare on the street but you can park underneath and get free parking when you scan your receipt. Or if you are in and out in 10 mins it's free of charge anyway.

Large store helpful and friendly staff member. It was a nice experience there. Free parking was convenient at the basement where you have to spend some money at Bigw or woollies. Otherwise expect to pay for parking.
