I had the $8 (B.B.Q pork meat ball roll) today and it was tasty, and unfortunately thats where all I can find something redeeming to say for my experience. It was at the end of the day and near its closing time with me and one other customer. Upon ordering my banh mi the staff had taken one small piece of bbq pork about (100g or less) and had cut it into about 4-5 smaller bite size pieces for my banhi mi, despite seeing a Bain Marie container filled full with bbq pork meat. As pictured the carrots are grated rather than having that julienne cut which meant there was little to no crunch when biting into my banh mi. Most of the crunch came from the coriander, not the bread or the pickled carrots. As for the banh mi itself, it felt like it was more of a vegetable banh mi with added fillers with the added bbq pork meat rather than a bbq pork banhi mi itself. I'm only mentioning this as with the plethora of banh mi joints in Melbourne, you can find better value elsewhere for around the same pricing mark if not, better value. As the saying goes in this instance, you get what you pay for. This review also accounts for the numerous trips of getting the crispy pork Vietnamese salad roll to be only let down being served a roll with plain hard fat more than the meat itself. Each time coming here hoping it'll be a better experience to only be disappointed.

Vietnamese bánh mì is a food staple in any suburb. I've walked past this bakery on numerous occasions and noticed they were always busy, so thought I'd give them a try. We ordered 1 x cold meats and 1 x crispy pork belly, both with chilli. The pâté spread was aromatic. Generous meat portions for the cold meats, not the pork belly. It also lacked crackling so no crunch or depth to the flavours. If you're a chilli lover like me, I'd recommend asking for extra chilli. Considering there were 3 staff members working at the time, they were much slower than the bakeries in Footscray and Richmond. Friendly service nonetheless. They prefer cash as the EFTPOS minimum is $10 (or 50c surcharge). Note this is not adverised on any signs anywhere until you pay, so bring cash. Not the best bánh mì but certainly will go back for more.

Everytime I go here there is one excuse or another for not taking card. I no longer carry cash on me, I use my phone for everything. Today the eftpos was ‘broken’. Last time there was no eftpos as it was the weekend. I wonder what the real reason is to only take cash sales? I believe she was lying when I questioned her about the broken machine as she got flustered and tripped over her words but there was a line behind and she couldn’t back out. It’s 2021 and having eftpos is just a part of business. I will not support this business anymore as I cannot trust a business who only takes cash, not in this day and age.

Do not bother going anywhere else for a Vietnamese roll in this area except for here. I promise you will not be disappointed! Sure, you may pay extra however it's well worth the taste and the freshness. Also, worth noting that there's a $10 minimum for EFTPOS. I'm a once a week addict otherwise my weight will balloon out of control. Haha! Staff are very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Be warned, lunchtime there's a crowd of at least 20 people in line so get in early.

I've never written a review before but as I've been coming to this bakery most days a week for the last year, I feel very qualified to give feedback. Best baked daily is a very accurate name! The food is amazing (I love a salad roll or tofu roll from here, and sometimes a jam tart) The service is amazing (the women here are so friendly and happy and know ALL of my usual orders) The price is unbeatable! This really is a hidden gem of Northcote, and I recommend it to everyone.

It was very busy and so took a while to get to the front of the queue and be served. Then there was another wait for the order to be completed. The rolls were good, not excellent. Perhaps not enough salad, although plenty of meat. They are not particularly friendly, but not exactly unfriendly. I won't be rushing back and have had better elsewhere. We just happened to be in the area.

Crave-inducing banh-mi. Whenever I have a banh mi that isn't from this wonderful place, I always find myself comparing it back to here. A family run business. The owner is super lovely. The prep stations are always very clean. Great value. Above all, the banh mi rocks (another vote for the tofu).

  • Two Sheds

OK pork roll here. Maybe a bit much fat and bit chewy, but still with good flavour. Probably one of the weaker one of these I’ve had over the years though because of the lowish meat quality. Going by the lengthy queue this is a popular place. Maybe the regulars get the premium meat cuts

Quality rolls and great service. The staff here are professionals, handling peak times without issue. My tofu salad roll was filled generously. Card payments accepted with a $10 minimum. Best of all, it's a great location and you can have lunch in the park!

The bahn mi was nice, great sauce but a bit light on toppings.. nice pickled veg, pork is alright.. couldn't see the vegan option which is what I had been recommended. They charged surcharge even when over the minimum and no signage to say

The lunchtime queue speaks for itself! Great place to get a banh mi in Northcote. Really like their Vegan Chicken and Vegan Pork options - they're clearly popular with the locals and I can see why! Recommend

  • Arina Nasyitah

Really the best bhan mi in Northcote! Super friendly staff and very generous portions. The crispy pork roll or even their tofu roll is delightful. Cash only but worth the walk over to the ATM beforehand.

  • Jay Jay

Always love the Vietnamese rolls. Service was great, with a smile. Noticing however the size of the usual rolls are becoming smaller and smaller in length. This being less value for dollar!!

  • Adrian Goslett

Fantastic Vietnamese bakery. Yummy foods and fantastic breads, rolls and much more. Excellent fare and the bonus is, it's cheaper then others. Great food and great prices.

  • Simondo

Honestly this is the best roll I’ve ever had, if you go regularly enough they will remember your order, that goes a long way in my books. Super friendly and tasty.

  • Bradley Mariano

Superior tasting banh mi with a great range of options. Very friendly staff who know a lot of locals’ orders off by heart. Best lunch option around

  • kerry rose

They could be more organised and have rolls buttered ready to…I sometimes don’t bother because wait is too long compared to other places More

  • S C

This place knows how to make a decent roll. The BBQ Pork meat is good, but the Crispy BBQ Pork is better and worth the little extra.

  • Scott Wallace

This place is awesome. Their vietnamese crispy pork roll is unbelievable: best Ive ever had. short line at lunchtime is worth it.

  • Carol Wang

I have banh mi at here after my orthotics appointment every time. The banh mi here is so tasty and yummy. Service is nice!

  • Christina Rankin

  • Hershey

Vanilla slice is superb, Vietnamese Iced Coffee is good however both slightly overpriced which is why I rated 4 stars.
