This library was worst, the librarians who saw the hate crime situation from the beginning appropriately repeatedly apologized to me when I was standing there speechless at 1 library user actually RUDELY UNREASONABLY cursed directly at me like a crazy persons around this area. I walked away after I told the librarians to let the branch manager know who that crazy antagonistic caucasian woman was and that I felt very threatened by per WHICH THE SITUATION WAS CLEARLY CAPTURED by library interior cameras. I came home but the branch manager failed to call me and did NOT EVEN cross check the situation that day and emaiped me SIMPLY went with a stupid fact that I moved to home from Charlotte to Matthews, so, should not come to this library?! I believe this is NOT Charlotte Mecklenburg public library POLICY RULE, otherwise, you should have practice and enact the same to every single library users(patrons/visitors/community residents) including former and current residents. This won't apply to visitors though especially when a person offend/attack/antagonistically threatened against another (benign/mindful) person CLEARLY.

Fall of ‘21 incident… The most aggressive & off-her-rocker librarian ever- will not be back! Was attacked verbally & intimidated physically by her standing way too close within my personal space as she shoved a basket of masks in my face while I checked myself out. I refused to interact with her- never said a word. My book was on hold, no one was even around & I was in/out (checking myself out w the check-out station within 3 mins or less). She put herself so close to me & harassed me the whole process through- I minded my business, continued with entering my info to scan my book out & promptly walked out (all right at the front door). Unbelievable & ridiculous. This whole city has gone down the tubes- very sad to see!! This whole incident caused me to never leave my house for even groceries again- only would order online. We sold our home & got the heck outta this place! Good luck, Charlotte!!

Nice, quiet, and modern design. Renovations and staff created a very friendly atmosphere throughout the library. Downstairs has an open design, and a few computers with an area for children. Upstairs has more than half of the books, more computers, and private group study areas. It even has a "teens" area (where I spend most of my time), which is likely the quietest place in the library. That's very helpful as a high schooler, especially one that gets distracted easily. Plenty of seating throughout the library, so far have never had trouble finding somewhere to sit and do work.

New design is awful! Chairs are exceptionally uncomfortable. They scream, "get what you came for and get out! Your are not welcome to sit and read here" The teen rooms are off limits ... even during hours when teens are in school. And the computers in the computer section are so close together that there is no screen privacy. The design and the decorum does communicates, get your material and go, not warmth and welcome. In summary, bonds and taxer payer would have been better spent tearing it down. Lets hope the same architecture firm is not designing the main library.

The location and library is nice and clean but the workers are extremely unwelcoming and rude. These lazy librarians sit around all day and act very bothered when posed a question. The employees and their standoffish behavior just demonstrates poor customer service skills. The book selection is pathetic. Despite being taxed to death by Mecklenburg County, residents are charged $0.25 per page for prints which are some of the highest printing rates in the country. You won’t find a hint of the fake southern hospitality in Charlotte.

I go to this location whenever I need to print and I’m not near home. The location is lovely, but the workers are so rude and unfriendly — especially the ones upstairs. Every time I walk through the main doors no one bothers smiling or greeting me. They just sit there with a miserable look on their face. During my first few visits, I had some questions for the workers upstairs and they were so unhelpful and acted annoyed. I always dread going in here because of how unwelcome I feel.

The staff here has been awesome, especially during Covid-19. They've been sitting outside in the hot sun for hours just to make sure each of us can grab a book (they even had water for anyone standing in line!). They've set up a very efficient system to get people in and out quickly during this time. Really impressed and want to thank all of you for giving of your time. This is the only location I ever come to because I know I'll always have a great experience.

I have not been there since covid. The cornelius branch does not to be open at all. Most of the branches are closed on the weekends, and the last time i tried to check out a book i had to make a special trip to charlotte to renew my card which i have never had to do before in the 20+ years i have lived here. I go to mooresville if i need a library.

Came in for a quiet place to study was offered an individual study and temporarily placed in a group study. Went for the reservation they had given it away. Reason we didn’t get your name? You didn’t ask you clearly could have came to me and said mam can we get your name but no nothing. Really like this place so disappointed.

Nice renovations but IMO the branch is too small and there is not enough parking. It always seems crowded. Every time we come to this location we drive around in circles waiting for spaces to free up and then everyone in the children's area is almost arm to arm. They didn't plan well regarding size and the parking.

My favorite library! On weekdays there are always tons of common area study tables available, and staff members are friendly and helpful. It's also located in a really beautiful shopping center off of a street lined with mature trees, so it's a pretty tranquil space for a study sesh in general.

What's not to love about a beautiful building filled with books? Large enough to have a very wide selection (especially their cookbooks, call number: 641), and my son loves their kid's section on the ground floor. The terrace on the second floor is also amazing!

  • El Guero

Omg. How wonderful. I took three buses to get here but it was totally worth the trip. I wasnt here one minute and i was greeted with a smile and asked if i needed help. It is clean. It is quiet. There isnt garbage strewn everywhere and

Beautiful facility. Well kept and very clean. Friendly staff. They had a selection of books at the very front that were free to take home and keep which I thought was awesome. Plenty of seats to sit and relax and enjoy a book or two.

It's great the library is open again! One inside at a time is a pain.... but what can you do? That's everywhere now almost. The shelves for the holds has more than doubled. They robo-called to let us know, nice for this purpose.

  • Rudy H

I don't know if it is still under construction but I went there to help me with school or whenever I wanted to read a good book. There nonfiction section is the best in my opinion. It also has more than one floor.

New design has far too much wasted space. Giant "teen-only" study room is empty, while the public study rooms are filled with teens. Giant computer room is mostly empty, since everyone carries their own devices.

  • Kathryn Brandys

Amazing staff!! I'm here on vacation and needed a park. They found one VERY close and easy to find. Very helpful!! Also helped find books for a project she needs to do.

  • Brianna Carter

This has got to be bd one of my favorite libraries in Charlotte. Love the teen space for my older girls, children's area for my little one and the terrace.

  • Krista Hidalgo

The librarians are so helpful! I love how they have book bundles already put together for different interest categories and reader levels. It was great!

  • Mirai Y

Excellent library staff here! All the ladies in the kids section were very helpful and patient with us; they helped us so much. Will def go back.

  • Melissa Martin

Better than Rea Rd branch for the young, working professional; the staff are also more friendly here than at Rea Rd or Steele Creek branches.

  • maria De Mayo

Great resources! Open even saturdays and have a lot of Educational events for kids and adults . They reserve books fir you and it’s free

  • Nathan James

Excellent library with a helpful staff and a great selection. Probably the nicest public library that I’ve ever visited.

  • Mary Johnson

Wonderful place for children !!! I take advantage of the new book section and there is a good long print section also .

  • Manu Khandelwal

Very silent and beautiful place to read or spend time. Visit anytime and you'll have a good time. Has become advanced.

  • david asbury

Adult fiction section is minuscule. No more outdoor book return bins. Very disappointing.

  • Michael Collins

The patio out back is very nice; equipped with electrical outlets and rocking chairs.

  • Zach Philip

You can only pick up reserved books. Not fully open. So reserve books and go pick up
