Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses is a family owned and operated bakery business based in Melbourne, Australia. The business began as two separate entities (Ferguson's Cakes and Plarre's Cakes) with the families coming together to form Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses in 1980. Ferguson Plarre now has 76 stores across Victoria. In 2012, members of the Plarre family bought out the Ferguson's stake and it is now owned by Ralph Plarre (40%), Steve Plarre (25%), Mike Plarre (25%) and their independent chairman, Rod Douglas (10%). Steve Plarre is CEO. The bakery's family history has links to many of Melbourne's culinary institutions (such as Jimmy Watsons). One of its best-known outlets is in Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market, where locals have purchased the bakery's cakes and pastries for decades. Ferguson Plarre has won over 100 awards for its baked goods including a gold medal in the Official Great Aussie Pastie Competition 2016 for their Traditional Steak & Potato Tiddly Oggie, "Australia's Champion Dairy Dessert" as judged at the Australian Grand Dairy Awards (Chocolate Moussecake) Overall Cake and Pastry winner at the Victorian Baking Industry Awards as judged by BIAV. In addition to these awards Ferguson Plarre has been recognised for its response to climate change through sustainable baking and business practices. In 2007 the bakery opened its environmentally friendly central baking facility in Keilor Park. There, the tier 1 and 2 emissions from every good baked is carbon offset. This offset is achieved by the planting of trees as part of the ‘Ferguson Plarre Forest’. 2009 saw Ferguson Plarre's environmental action rewarded with the Origin Gold Banksia Award for excellence in sustainability.

I am appalled at their style of doing business. We went on a Saturday morning (7-Sep) to enquire and order a cake for a party on 22-Sep. They were clueless about the size and servings of the cake. We selected three designs and we were told that we will receive a call in 30 min regarding the size and pricing. We were at the mall so we followed-up after 2 hours before leaving the mall about any update. Their reaction suggested that they had completely forgotten about it. They promised a call back the next day before 10AM. When we did not receive the call, we called them up to check and were again promised a call back within 30 min. The call never came. We thank our stars that we did not deal with them after that as we discovered an excellent patisserie in Oakleigh.

We got a birthday cake, cupcakes with a stand and hot food catering done from Ferguson Plarre and were very happy with the quality of food, service and on-time delivery on the day. We have bought cakes from Ferguson Plarre in the past but this was the first time buying cupcakes and hot food. Special thank you to the store manager Sarah who was very helpful and answered all our questions. Cake and cupcakes looked great and were very yummy also. One of the guests said "cupcakes not only look good, they taste good too". Hot food was equally delicious and enjoyed by our guests. Overall one happy customer and will be back for more cakes in the future.

Online it says it’s open at 9am today. Went there at 9:30 to place an order to dine in but said we can only have take away because she still had a whole section on the left side with multiple chairs and tables with cakes all over the place that she still needed to sort out. Obviously needs to learn customer service….. could have easily sat another 10 customers there but she wasn’t organised when she started the day. The other option she could’ve done is said to us “sure, give me 5 minutes and I will clear the chairs on top the table and get it ready for you” What a joke

Ferguson Plarre is one of the best bakehouses in general, the cakes taste absolutely awesome. But I want to give a special shout out to the team at Chadstone and Tolga in particular. I ordered a Design-a-cake (this is really cool, where you can put a picture on top of the cake, of your choice, and the pricing is really good too), and was a little pressed for time. Tolga not only managed to get it done, but went above and beyond by keeping me informed along the way. Highly recommend this place!

Went there at 2:50 pm on Wednesday Oct 12 to get a birthday cake for family. And the small Asian girl who works there at the counter kept rolling her eyes at us, and talked to us with a really bad attitude saying they don’t have enough time (5 days notice) and we can only choose from certain cakes. It’s ok to tell us that but please don’t be rude? We as customers didn’t even do anything wrong and didn’t gave her bad attitude. I just don’t understand such behaviour.

Worst place. Ordered my daughters birthday cake couple of weeks before and on the b day, they didn't even have a cake ready. Staff was not at all helpful and they told me will look into. And after 2 hours wait, to let me know that they messed up with the order. Worst was the Manager, who wont even speak to let us know what happened to our order. I was left out without a cake on my daughters birthday. Never will go to this place.

A huge thankyou to Kim and team for making this fabulous cake for my daughter's first birthday. It was a 2 tier cake , Orange and Red Velvet. Both tasted delicious. It was perfect right from the start . Kim made sure we love the flavour, explained every detail, was very patient during the selection process. Would recommended this place to all my friends. 6 ****** for the customer service !!

This place seems like a cute place to get lunch or catch up with a friend over coffee. To be perfectly honest, when I came here I was not blown away by the food nor the service. When I eventually got served, the workers seemed much more concerned about finishing the conversation with her friend... That being said, the food wasn't too bad and it would probably be a nice place to chill.

Have no idea what they are doing! Ordered a Vegan birthday cake. Asked them to show me pictures - none available. Asked them to show me the size - Weren’t sure. Asked them to give measurements - No idea?! Paid $43.20 for it. Then asked to see ingredients and found that it is full of milk and eggs. They sold me a gluten free cake, not a vegan cake!!

Ordered a cake that was supposed to be delivered at 3pm +/- half an hour. By 4pm we contacted them only to be told we have to ring 13CABS as they were delivering it. After being unable to contact 13CABS, we tried calling Ferguson Plarre again who hung up then disconnected their phone. Very disappointing experience and a birthday with no cake.

Very poor customer service, ordered a coffee and asked them to scan my loyalty app and the staff mentioned that the loyaylty credit will appear overnight as the systems "don't work on a public holiday" really?? The loyalty credit is still not there. Its not about the credit, but don't tell lies and mislead ur customers..

Annoying and disappointing- I asked for takeaway small baked cheesecake. And I ended up with a boxed slice of something with cream on top. Just listen to the customer- it’s not that hard! And next time I will be sure to watch the staff prepare the item- otherwise how can I be sure that I l get what I ask for.

Beautiful cakes. Such variety. You can also preorder cakes for your special occasion. Staff are always a pleasure to deal with. Quality you can rely on. You do pay a little more than other cake shops but I've not been disappointed by Ferguson Plarre unlike other cheaper places.

Very dirty.. undercooked pie, asked for another, same thing, Manager he was so rude. Eventually blamed bakehouse/ warehouse?? Oven is in store.. waited over 20 mins for coffee (was not busy)... burnt.. staff too busy chatting in storeroom to serve.. definitely not worth it!

Great customer service! Pies are delicious. Ordered some cupcakes for my sons birthday, I spoke with the manager and her product knowledge was fantastic and she was extremely helpful in every way. Will 100% be purchasing from here again soon.

I normally go to Ferguson Plarre all the time for cakes. This time I went to the chadstone store, the customer service was really good; however we found 2 stones (or some very hard things) in the cake. I almost lost my tooth!!!

My mother bought a lamington today that was inedible. It was so stale and dry. Definitely wasn’t made fresh today. Shame on you Ferguson Plarre! Definitely won’t be returning again

Unbelievably rude staff. I asked 3 times for someone to clean the table and they just looked at me with these perfectly vacant eyes and totally ignored me.

I like this shop's black forest cake since the icing is not too sweet and light. We also ttied the donuts, ginger breads and it's pastries.
