I recently had the misfortune of hiring Jake Removals to assist with a move that turned into an absolute nightmare. Once getting the quote until the day I thought I set and everything was going to be smooth and seamless. I provided Jake with all the necessary information, including the number of items to be moved (including the number of heavy items), the distance to my new location and most importantly the number of flights of stairs that would need to be navigated. Their quote was somewhat lower (but not by much) than others I had received & subsequently I booked. Little did I know that this was merely the first chapter in a tale of woe. On moving day, the horror truly began. Once the removalists arrived on the day, the issues began. The removalists informed me that moving ONE heavy item up a flight of stairs was going to cost an additional $60 per flight of stairs per heavy item on top of their hourly rate. So one heavy item will cost $180 if you were moving up 3 flights of stairs. If you only had a washing machine, a couch and a fridge the additional cost could be an additional $540 on top of the hourly rate. In addition to the financial burden they could have imposed on me, the emotional stress caused by this ordeal cannot be overstated. Moving is already a stressful process, and I expected a professional removalist to ease the burden, not add to it. Fortunately I had a friend there to help move these heavy items up the stairs. Although if I knew I was going to be tasked with moving these heavy items I would have just hired a van and saved the close to $600 I spent with Jake Removals and done the move myself (Which would have saved me money, time and a lot of stress!) In addition to not moving heavy items, when we asked to speak with the removalist manager several times their response was "ok" & the removalists just walked away with a their phone to their ear. When we continued to ask what was going on and if they had spoken to their manager Jake & if we could speak to him, they lied to our faces saying they couldn't get onto him. We called the business phone line and got through to Jake straight away. Jake then told us that he had just spoken to the removalists only a few minutes ago. Even when speaking with Jake he was unable to provide any assistance and we were tasked with moving all the heavy furniture up the stairs. My worry is for those people in the future that will rely on Jake removals who simply aren't able to move heavy items with by themselves and do what I could do. To anyone considering hiring Jakes removalists, I implore you to LOOK ELSEWEHRE. The level of incompetence and dishonesty that is simply unparalleled and make them a terrible choice for your moving needs. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headache and heartache that I experienced with this awful company. They have truly earned every bit of this scathing review, and I hope it serves as a warning to others.

If you consider Jake for a streamline moving experience. Might need to reconsider.. We initially dealt with Jessie, he was friendly and helpful during the time of booking. We wanted to do the right thing and over-quoted our job ensuring the job will finished somewhat pleasantly. We are seasonal movers however the experience is rather interesting based on the below: 1. Job booked for 1pm, job didn’t commence until 4.45pm, guys were nice but they were exhausted by the time they got to ours after their first job. They shared that the previous job booked for half the size of our apartment but the job ended up 3X larger 2. Move didn’t finished until 11pm! That’s right, 6 hours to move a 2 bedroom apartment, everything have been pre-packed. Myself and one other friend ended up helping at the new place. This made a total of 5 labours at the new place. 3. Fragile boxes were stacked, and we advised not to stack them. Our comments have been dismissed and the guy said is all ok. Upon unpacking, all Reidel crystal wine glasses were all smashed in one of the ‘non stackable’ boxes. 4. 2 handmade bowls from overseas were smashed out of a set of 4 5. At several instances, all 3 guys were were hanging in the truck to pack, and rather slow. Understandingly they were exhausted as expected earlier 6. Furnitures were scratched, noticeable scratches and damages. 7. One of the bedside table fallen off the trolley and downstairs, luckily there’s nothing in the bedside table that is breakable and it wasn’t an expensive piece of furniture 8. Upon flagging our experience, we have been advised that “we are not thinking logically”. When the comments are raised above with Jessie over the phone. Remark such as ‘Why is it our fault when our customers have lied to us?’ 9. Lastly, the amount came to $1500+ to move 2 bedder apartment, 5 minute driving distance from our old place We understands the job prior to ours was large and unexpected, but unsure why we bare the consequences. Spoken to Jessie over the phone which we have been advised to email. Email sent a week ago but yet to hear back. Save yourself from heartache!

From the moment they arrived they were trying to quote more than was booked. We booked 5 hours. There definitely wasn’t 5 hours work. However they after multiple cigarette breaks and having to asks them to get a move on multiple times they get to the new house. Then they say they didn’t know it was two story. It was booked as a two story move after again trying to get more money now as they needed to move a bed upstairs they said that trips upstairs was quoted on weight. Then with more cigarette breaks and slow moving they told us they were going to go over the 5 hours. They said they would just drop everything in the garage. So we started moving everything they would place at the end of the truck. The only thing left was to carry one bed upstairs which they did and dumped it in half mattress folded over in the bedroom. Mind you this all was for a wheelchair bound client, whose support workers were helping her. It was such a awful experience and like we said it still came in under 5 hours

Movers were nice, arrived around 20 mins late so not too bad. The move took much longer than expected, and they could have been more transparent about the some of the additional fees (in the quote request I described our furniture & stair situation). They also just sent me an email stating that if I rate them 5 stars I'll get a $10 Coles eGift card, which I think is a dishonest way to get 5 star reviews, so be wary of the high reviews, some of them may be genuine but who knows. I would not have written this review if they would not bribe people for reviews.

September 2023 - used Jake Removals again and I was again truly impressed by their abilities, professionalism, friendliness and pricing. Thoroughly recommend this organisation - and "thank you" to them for another smooth move. 2022 -Genuinely impressed by the teams professionalism, friendliness, attention to detail, truck control (how they got that truck down the narrow driveway I do not know!) and, perhaps most of all, their sheer strength in carefully moving furniture around. They did a great job - well done and thank you

Jake Removals overcharged by making sure they went into another half hour by not coming straight to the new property which was just one street over. They also added a $120 fee for heavy items on the day that was never mentioned prior. They said it was because of the one flight of stairs, yet my sister used them to move 3 months prior and didn't get this fee when it was an identical move. I contacted them twice after the move but they didn't reply. It cost $700 to move a 1 bedroom apartment to the next street over.

I recently received several quotations from different companies for my move, but Jake Removals stood out with their competitive rates. What's more, they didn't even charge me an extra fee to move my belongings from the second story. The two movers who came to my house were extremely professional, punctual, and attentive to our requests when arranging the furniture in our new home. I am completely satisfied with their service and highly recommend them to anyone who needs reliable and efficient movers.

I booked Jake’s Removals based on their reviews and I was not disappointed. Jake was very responsive to initial query and followed up with a phone call to further discuss requirements. The pricing was by far the best and the service on the day was outstanding. Hans and Theo were incredibly hard working and fantastic at loading, storing and unloading the truck, all done with a smile. Thoroughly recommend this company.

I highly recommend Jake Removals! From the outset, Jake responded to all emails/calls very promptly and was very helpful. On moving day, Andy & Lukey rocked up bang on time and worked very effectively and efficiently throughout the entire move. They were legends. The price is also very good in comparison to other quotes I was receiving. I am a very happy cusomer and will use Jake Removals again in the future.

Have used these guys twice now in a year and they do a great job. We did full house lot moves each time and stairs were involved in both, last one very tight trick staircase. Reasonably priced and get the job done efficiently and are friendly. No damage to property or goods. They will be our go to movers. Thanks to Jake and the guys.

We used Jake Removals when we moved between rental homes twice, in 2022 and 2023. They have done above and beyond both times. They handle everything with care and are very efficient. We ended up saving about $200 for the whole move in comparison to other services around the area, one of which actually came out to do the quote.

Moving houses can be pretty laborious, especially if the house is on a hill with many flights of stairs having to move 10 tonnes of cargo. Nevertheless, the two guys sent by Jake removals were simply fantastic! Everything ran smooth, never complained, and did it with a smile! Jake, I’d give those guys a raise …

We found Jake provided professional and prompt communication regarding our removalist booking and Eric and Kent provided a professional, punctual and friendly removalist service and was careful with our belongings. We would definitely utilise their moving services again and recommend them to our family and friends.

We moved from a whole 4 bedroom house. The removalists were friendly and were extremely prompt. It was a seamless process from start to finish. Special callout to Billy who made the whole process smooth and efficient. I would highly recommend their services. And would use them again if and when the times comes.

We had a great experience with Jake's Removals. Good communication. On the move day, the guys arrived on time and showed considerable care towards our belongings. We would use this company again, would even ask for the same guys - they took great care, were good communicators and had a sense of humour.

Worked really slowly to drag out the time and charged for more hours. Watched as they hung out in n the truck taking selfies. Found it frustrating! Really disappointed as I had used this company previously and been really impressed with their efficiency and hard work. Will not be using again!

Great that you could fit us in at short notice and the guys were great. They were careful and worked well together. i notice they started the clock timer 10 min before they actually parked the truck and spoke to me about the terms and conditions.

Was enjoying a lovely coffee at the Boulevard Food store in Mont Albert this morning when i witnessed this. The driver of the truck drove into the car park and drove into the sign on the way out with such force you could hear it scrapping
