Kmart Chirnside Park - Exceptionally bad customer service!!!!! Loved shopping at many Kmarts around Victoria and this is the only place I’ve experienced this level of disgusting customer service and saying “have a nice day” in a sarcastic, condescending, rude manner is NOT de-escalating the situation it’s just proving my point (When leaving). The snarky looks, the under breath answering back, uninterested in actually trying to help resolve the issue, the manager even told one staff member she didn’t need to show her name badge while I was on the phone to head office talking to them. They could see they were upsetting me and only tried to blame me. In this day and age when you can buy online or at another store the difference is in customer service, well don’t go to this store. Went to Bunnings across the road and got the same product cheaper and was treated well by staff. I've spent thousands at Kmart each year, from this one experience you've lost all my business. These people need to read the news, don't they see the 10 BigW stores closing across Victoria? Head Office has contacted me regarding an offical complaint and they have been lovely but I work too hard for my money to be spending it at a place where they have staff that treat people like this. I've worked in customer service for over 20 years and dealt with unhappy customers and there's so many techniques to de-escalate situations, however the staff there actually escalated it by being more & more rude and unfortunately this included the MANAGER (Laura) of the store. This person is meant to lead by example. And to John the other 'Manager' who very much did his best to try and embarrass me, you are a poor human being and I hope you one day learn the way you make people feel effects them greatly. You took something I said and repeated it completely out of context in front of at least 10+ other customers in a louder voice just to try and make me feel bad. You succeeded, I felt really bad. But that's the difference between me and people like you, I regret what I said but people like you don't care about other people and don't care about how you treat others and never reflect. People like you shouldn't be working in customer service. Wish they had negative star ratings because that's actually more accurate than a 1 star. ETA: After speaking with Head Office Lisa and the regional manager, both were lovely & professional. I was given a $50 voucher, which I received today and I noticed the stamp is from Chirnside Park, not a note of apology from the Store, which would of been worth more than a voucher. I guess even when they had a later opportunity to apologise they didn't take it. Clearly nothing was learnt.
I'm not sure how to rate this review. My wife bought a kid's bike for our son for Christmas. Christmas Eve day when putting it together I discovered one part broken and another faulty/missing. I called up and was advised that it was fine to bring it in and have the bike replaced. When getting to the customer service desk I was told by the lady that the bike would have to be sent away to be assessed and she asked if I would like to speak to a manager. I said yes and Jaymes came out to talk to me. He was unwilling to even look at the bike to see the broken part and stuck to the policy despite it being clearly defective. I said I was happy for him or anyone on site to show me how it went together and he huffed and said "I'm not building bike...". So I asked for the person who builds the floor stock to have a look and Jaymes replied "uh yeah.. he's not here so no". Being Christmas Eve I honestly didn't care if the bike was from Kmart or not and just asked for a refund which he also wasn't willing to do. I said his lack of help and compassion (Christmas Eve) was pathetic and he just said thanks and turned his back and walked off. Luckily.. Lesley overheard this conversation and agreed some compassion was needed and spoke to the store manager. 5mins I had a new bike and left happy. Long story short, Lesley was lovely and helpful and incredibly understanding. Jaymes on the other hand.. no idea how he was manager and he requires some additional training in customer service ASAP. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has seen his smarmy passive aggressive customer service skills.
I love going to Kmart later at night, no one around. It's like you have the store all to yourself. I would like it if it was 24 hours again. Great value for money and probably a good idea to write a list of what you need to get and sticking to it otherwise you may spend more than you realise. One thing that gets to me is, they have children in there catalogue wearing AFO's (foot&leg brace) but they do not have shoes to really accommodate children whom wear them. I would love to see funky boots, high top sneakers with zips down the sides so as making the shoes easier to put on and having top (long&short sleeves) with overlaped seams on the shoulder so clothes go on and come off easier (bonds baby clothes have them). As a special needs parent to a child whom has Cerebral Palsy (spastic quadriplegic) getting clothes on and off is a challenge and my son hasnt worn shoes due to issues getting them on.
Purchased a suitcase yesterday and unfortunately I lost the receipt. When we got the case home it was clearly to large. We phoned the store where we made the purchase and they assured us that they can print another receipt and we can return the case for a refund. So here we are just 24 hours later and they say sorry we can't print another receipt they actually said they couldn't even find the receipt. We had the credit card transaction for them but they still wouldn't issue a refund. We were given a credit for the amount and told that's the best they can do. The credit is on the usual cash register receipt paper that fades into oblivion really quick so I doubt we will ever get a chance to use it. Goodbye Kmart. We are done. Never to return. Instead of wasting money on advertising you should simply look after the customers you do have.
The shops have some very helpful and happy staff but the feel centre management lets customers down. Large advertising sign block walkway. Numerous customers at takeway block walkways making it difficult with a trolley. Barriers need to be errected to get customers into lines. Seriously lacking a good news agency, decent men's clothing particulary foŕ larger men. A decent music shop. Too many Telcos and coffee shops. Stores that set up in the walkways are far too wide and again make it difficult to get around particularly when you have trolleys and children. When shop fronts get a makeover the facade juts out onto the walkway and narrows the walking area. An ìnteractive signage board how to find and get to shops would be great
I worked at this store for two and a half years, was a very good experience until the last few weeks I copped abuse from store manager because I had torn tendons in my foot and a medical certificate stating that I needed to be exempt from work - I got screamed at, called a liar, and she threatened to call security on me for being in the staff office even though I was staff. incidences like these happen often to many teen casuals working there where they are treated poorly and bullied by managers. I have since quit my position there because when the incident was reported to HR, no action was taken. Kmart Chirnside is all about money and cares very little for their employees
K-mart don't support their product compared to IKEA. After 28 days they will make sure that you will spend more Money as they are only prepared to give you Kmart Vouchers, that is just poor customer experience, even if you have your receipt . This used to be 20 years ago , when small businesses were only prepared to exchange with No refund . Our lives are very busy and 28 days is just not sufficient time to return for a full refund. . I had a very bad experience when I purchased a few tops , after 4-5 washes the tops are ready to be disposed of or maybe to be put in the rubbish bin. Kmart management need to revise their RETURN POLICY.....
The store seems to be fine in some areas others I rated cero, the security guard though understanding as there are many shop lifters kept following us, unfortunately my husband has been very ill and to distract ourselves we went to Kmart to buy an article we could not find after the cancer centre at Maroondah Hospital quite intimidating behaviour of the young lad, imagen my feelings supporting him after our news!!!!! I said this people need to be trained to move around instead of sight seeing people at the entrance no one knows what people goes through and please don't make assumptions that we all are the same unless judging the self!
This Kmart is big containing all the usual goodies you would expect from them. The staff are exceedingly helpful, Wether you are returning an item or simply can't find one! They have a photo center, layby, change rooms tfat accommodate both wheelchairs and families with prams, a help desk, and lots of staff throughout. They almost always have something on clearance in each department (shoes, men's clothes, baby items, toys etc. Only thing I'd be thoughtful of is clearance items often haven't been properly updated with the checkouts do check that those bargains go through at the right price!
I have mostly always been happy with Chirnside Park Kmart, having lived in the area for quite a few years. Unfortunately, customer service has declined terribly. There is a middle aged woman at the service desk called Therese or Theresa who was the rudest employee I have ever encountered! If you are going to have staff employed to give customer service, then they need to be polite, kind and willing to give service. Because of her rude and nasty behaviour, I will no longer shop at Chirnside Park Kmart. We all have bad days but you need to put that aside rather than take it out on customers.
Just had THE best customer experience! went in for a click and collect and the lady behind the counter was so helpful and lovely! Then I lost my phone in the store and the two ladies (Nicky & Ella) at the check out sprung into action and immediately tried calling my number, ran around looking for it - took all my details while calming me down. One of the ladies re traced my steps and found my phone! So grateful to these caring ladies for helping me and going above and beyond! You don’t get service like that everywhere! Thank you :)
Horrible customer service at the layby counter today. We had three paid click and collect orders to pick up, and the attitude and comments that were publicly made in front of us as customers were unfriendly and made us feel very uncomfortable. The option for ‘click and collect’ should not be available if staff are going to treat paying customers with such disrespect. This is not the first time the ladies have come across as rude at this counter in the Chirnside Park store.
Who doesn't love Kmart for everything! Top shopping destination at Chirnside. Good value, organic cotton. Clothe the whole family in one shop. I love the menswear for me! Women's sleepwear pants would be good if available in shorter sizes.most are too long for me so I HEAD to menswear in boxershorts area to choose some for myself and their tees. Menswear has many great bargains in nice fabrics and funky designs. Good place for toys, accessories, scarves and hats.
Have been going here for years. The staff have always been friendly and chatty (when time has permitted) and only for like, a minute, but the last few times the staff haven't been the same. It's like the working environment has changed. They didn't seem as happy and chatty. Even another customer I was next to noticed it, that they weren't the same. I hope whatever is making them unhappy quickly gets rectified.
I usually like chirnside park kmart, but have noticed a decline in customer service. Had asked a kmart worker where i could find an item, she was the most rudest employee i have come across. She made it seem as though i was hindering her existence. She did not even look at me or engage eye contact. I feel as though whatever bad day she was having was coming out at me. Made me not want to shop there anymore.
This trusty KMart store was a regional classic. Sadly, the refurbished store in 2013 has a fraction of the merchandise and fails to provide normal-sized baskets. As a result, people have to either wheel around giant trolley-baskets (which no-one does) or stagger about with purchases in their arms (which everyone tries to do, and gets annoyed about). Big W in Lilydale looks like a better bet as a result.
Not happy with lazy manager who would not let the floor staff member sell me the last double electric hotplate which was needed urgently. It was listed for sale on their website catelogue and I could have saved myself the wasted trip time and could have gone the Eastland or GoodGuys instead. Better to remove any stock off website if you can't sell what we can see on display imo.
Always a good experience. Click and collect during lockdown was streamlined and easy, was also able to return some faulty and change of mind items quite easily too. Customer service in all areas of the store appears consistent and friendly. Front of store assisted in getting a trolley and pointing me in the direction of the correct service desk for my returns. Thanks! :)
I love Kmart, but they’ve recently changed delivery partners and now using Australia Post... Why?! Been waiting for my delivery for over two weeks with no delivery date confirmed. Throughout the whole pandemic Kmart always had prompt delivery, usually within a couple of days. Australia post is the worst (and expensive). Please go back to your previous delivery partner!
Went there with my wife to look for new underwear for her, big selection to choose from no problems there, but the reason for the 2 star is due to cleanliness, it seem that they have had issue with bird droppings, and the amount of dust/dirt/hair underneath the clothes racks along with underwear gives the impression that no one has cleaned there in awhile.
I love Kmart at Chirnside Park. It's in a convenient location and the staff go out of their way to help you. I have taken particular notice of 2 staff members, Michelle and Nicki, they usually work at the self checkout and are the friendliest and most helpful ladies, it makes my experience here that much better!! Highly recommend this store!!!
Angry your store decided to close 24 hour trading. It was convenient for emergency items like heaters and clothing needed for last minute engagements. Products need to be reviewed and tested before stocking the shelves with them also. And if you worked with woolworths and made both 24 hour your sales and customers would increase dramatically.
Terrible service 3 ladies behind counter all chatting but not serving anyone. One saw everyone waiting and walked off to do nothing in the homeward aisle. One served me and then disappeared outback only to come out chatting to the last one before finally coming over to tell me they don't have the print cartridges in stock. Worst service ever.
I love kmart for the range of goods and the prices, but this store has a lot of gaps in the shelves (ie: low stock) and it's a smaller store so doesn't stock the full range. Also a lot of things that are apparently in stock at Chirnside Kmart turn out to not be on the shelf when you go in store. Better to do a click and collect to make sure.
Lovely business the only thing I can think of is to clean the aisles on a every Friday night because they are I'm sorry to say but they are absolutely trashed at that time Havana beach but yeah all good customer service lovely. Lovely place hopefully you guys have a good Christmas and New Year and yeah I probably come back down the future
Click and collect messaging and comms is awful! No indication of which entrance to use, no clarity on opening hours (between the signage on multiple entrances, google maps, phone number automated voice message, and hours on the website), and messaging around "Instore pickup" is closed but the "parcel pick up door" is open is confusing.
Always packed with people and opening hours are long. Just pulled back from 24 hours I believe. SO much stock here. So much to buy. Do worry about the cheapness of some items because someone is making them overseas for so little. Store is large and open so wheelchair and stroller friendly. Lots of parking at Chirnside Park.
The lady who helped me today at the self service check out was quite rude.I have had another horrible experience at this shop couple of months ago but I didn't write any review, this time is the time to give them feedback. Some of the workers are quite nice, but the rest are terrible. Some of them should learn some manners.
A Kmart like any other. They all seem to follow the same layout, even if some are mirror reversed. Great place for the latest styles in homewares at an unbeatable price. Of course its a great place for budget priced clothing, footwear, fitness equipment and clothing, some electronics and a good deal more.
Very good shopping centre. There are plenty of variety stores as well as the major stores like k mart. The food court has plenty of options for everyone. The place is extremely though which makes parking a bit of an issue. I would hate to go there at christmas time. Overall you wont go wrong.
Desperately needed some windcheaters sent to country Warragul. The girls at Chirnside Park Kmart were so helpful. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. They were eager to help, polite and l couldn't believe the effort made to accomadate me. Great Customer Service Chirnside Park Kmart.
Seems to be understaffed. The older woman who is always by the door checking receipts is extremely rude, time to retire i would say. Never any stock in store even though the website says there is. If only they would open a Kmart at Lilydale marketplace so i dont have to come back here.
Kmart used to sell clothes that were ok, but since they changed everything to "Anko" brand it has been absolutely garbage. Cheaply made, uncomfortable, the wrong shape. Simply the worst thing I've ever done when buying clothes was buy anko brand. Kmart have gone soooo far downhill.
Was blown away with the assistance I received whist visiting your Chirnside store. A big thank you to Janine in homewares for making my shopping easier and more pleasurable, with your knowledge of the products and the time you spent assisting me. “Great customer service “
This store was great. It still has a little bit of an older feel to the store from the outside but it was very clean and fresh on the inside. All of the staff were very friendly and they had stock of items that other stores didn't. I'll certainly return in the future.
they have everything that is made in china, so support your local shelf packers and get in there and buy some stuff, kitchen, bathroom , lounge, I personally bought a hat to keep my bald scone from frying like a wok, it works, thanks for listening
Discount clothes and home goods, the store layout is logical, the quality of the items sold varies massively with some things being quality but cheap and other been crappy and cheap. The staff are friendly enough and seem willing to help.
No answer on the phone to K Mart even after it ringing for over 20mins. I do relise that were in lockdown and that staff is short but you could still have someone on to answer the phone in such a large shopping centre as Chirnside Park.
Can’t change a delivery to click and collect even if you ring 5 minutes after you ordered being forced to wait 3-5 days for something you’ve already paid for and could simply pick up apauling customer service from such a big company
Good store for eastern end of Melbourne. It is in Chirnside Park shopping centre. This centre have all big superstores. Collections of this store are also great. Only limitations, it doesn't have Gardening section with live plants.
We all love visiting Kmart! This one is great, if you time your visit right. Go at night, or dinnertime, and it's not to busy. Car parks are also easier. Big range, and I always get more than I need. Great value for money.
They the company Kmart has improved dramatically. More reasonable prices and better quality products like they used to have. Aldi is still cheaper with some things but I was extremely happy with the turnaround with Kmart.
The ladies at change station friendly and helpful even on a busy Dec 24th. Thank you ladies. The lady at the check out station was also very helpful and friendly as well. Made shopping in a crazy busy day so much nicer.
The ladies at photo collection (aka customer service) have been somewhat rude both times I've visited, but the price is good (standard Kmart), so I keep coming back. Highly recommend the photo magnets for only $2 each!
It's a pretty standard Kmart but 5 stars as it's often open late. Chirnside is a handy little shopping centre. As I mentioned, it's little but has nearly everything I need, Kmart, Target, chemists, Coles and Woolies!
Purchased a black winter jacket that can be worn for casual or formal occasions for a bargain $30 similar jackets from Kathmandu or ski shops go for over $200 but made in the same country & from exact same material
Kmart has a fairly good range and the staff are usually friendly and helpful. At least they are when you can find a staff member to assist. Like most big stores it's hard to find staff when you need assistance.
"went looking for severa long sleeved t-shirt dresses advertised but had none. No one around to ask. Only had approx 10 short sleeved dresses in small sizes. Yet all other type of dresses advertised they had.
Meh, it's Kmart, what is there to say. It's your run of the mill kmart. What is good about chirnside park kmart is there's also target in the same centre so if Kmart doesn't stock it then you've got a backup.
We visited after 10pm to get a fan If you like shopping in a deserted store then that's the time to come Extra staff to help customers would be good as would be a checkout that was manned by a human being
Seems to be alot of not what you know but who you know going on in that store staff wise . You can be lazy and thick as a brick and get every shift . Hard working means nothing if your not in the click
Ladies at the service desk are very rude. Often continuing to chat amongst themselves when there are customers waiting to be served. No smiles, no customer service, they just don't want to be there.
Love k mart. Sorry none where i live near Bay Streer Brighton. Have to go to Southland... yukky. This one not too big, reasonably priced and lots of variety. Love to all at Chirnside. Barbara
A very special thank you to Emma. You were so very helpful and friendly this evening. I appreciate your efforts in locating the product I was wanting to purchase. Excellent service!!
I love going to Kmart Chermside park .only problem never any service older person ..man... like myself need help to find things .not allways just sometimes. Otherwise I enjoy Kmart.
This is my go to store when I need to get presents or just want to buy myself some clothing or Manchester, staff friendly & helpful, parking for people with disabilities available.
Staff helped direct me to the Woolworths gift card website so I could email my brother interstate a DM gift so his birthday. Took a few mins and was all sorted, so thank you!
Another suburban KMart. Got what I needed. Unlikely to ever be a mind-blowing experience. Sometimes just delivering a consistent and reliable service is all that's required.
Range is diverse and very budget friendly. Only feedback/con is if you're on the cuddlier side of thing the clothing range is very limited and a lot of the time frumpy.
This is my go to kmart due to location but the staff are always friendly and helpful. Stock on hand can be a bit up and down. I enjoy the variety that kmart offers.
Never had a problem with Kmart although it is a bit annoying how they took the registers away from the front and put them in the middle of the store ♀️ …
K-MART, TARGET, Coles, Woolworths and ALDI. Plenty of worthwhile smaller traders and food court. With ample parking it is an enjoyable shopping centre to visit.
Opens till night.. I can go even after coming from work.. cheap and affordable products but not long lasting though .. only buy when you have no other option..
The store where they have things u didnt even know u wanted.I Never leave this store without a purchase...staff are a little thin on the ground though. …
Big win at K-Mart today! Shop when it's quiet, cheapy gym mat is Very good value, and self-service check-out quick too. That's how I like to shop …
I got served by a very polite young man by the name of Nathan, he was very helpful and happy to help me to find toys for my young kid. Employee of the year!
Excellent service I had a return and then purchased other items it was all done with no problem lovely and friendly staff well done to you friendly staff
Everything, Everyone in Kmart Chirnside Park are good and normally situation. I'm from Timor leste proud of Conditions or Situation here so good.Thanks.
Even though just a shopping centre, it feels so comfortable shopping here. I don't know why. Maybe because it's right next to my old primary school ^^
Good Kmart to go to when you don't want to go to a huge shopping centre. Chirnside Park shopping centre is smaller style, making kmart access easy.
Only have a hub where I live and was disappointed that they closed the big shop as I shopped there frequently. Going to a "proper" K Mart was great
The people were very accommodating at the service desk and the check out counter. Although it seems like there are no adults working there though.
It's a normal Kmart, you have your out of service photo printers and the other ones are just faulty, decent range of products and friendly staff
My local Kmart ! Who can fully Kmart really , which they had.more variety and proper sizing true to number always go 2-3 sizes up for a good fit
Kmart Chirnside Park has improved their customer service completely it is now excellent. Good value products and an excellent range of products.
Some parts are a bit close together (lay out and positioning of racks display shelves) resulting in a bit of backpedaling if you're a wheelie
I've been shopping at Kmart for years... Great Products...and Great Prices... Home Styling Personal Items Clothes ... Always a Great Range..
This joint is the ducks nuts! Bought a $5 pair of thongs about three years ago and I'm still rocking them, not so much as a bust plugger!
A Large Department Store And Good Value For Money Shopping But Sometimes it is a bit Difficult to get a Staff member For Assistance
Still one of my favourite shopping centres. Not too small, not too big. Great selection of different shops and a great food court.
We spent a few hours making a 60th birthday book. It has 40 pages 113 pics and only $65. Ready the next day. Thanks Kmart. …
Always love feeling like a criminal walking out of Kmart. Wake up and move your registers to the front like a normal store.
Been going here for years and have never had a bad experience. Staff are always helpful and delightful. Good work Team!
Large store, plenty of stock on shelves, helpful staff, plenty of parking one of the better Kmart stores in melb metro.
Good for budget shopping. The store has almost all household stuff like stationery, toys, kitchen items and clothes.
Typical KMart store. Helpful staff. Low levels of stock at present due to Christmas / New Year rush and very busy.
Did all my Christmas shopping in 35 minutes. No rushing around in all the crowds for me. Go as early as you can.
Everyone loves kmart! Place is clean and tidy, staff are great and prices are great. Never had any issues here.
Clean neatly presented. Great Christmas decorations. Plenty choice clothing. Candles great value for presents.
I like this store as it's my local and the layout is clear and usually it's quite tidy. The staff are helpful
Absolutely love this store, such a wide range of products and the staff are generally nice most of the time
I'm told the store is getting renovated I really hope so. Nice sizeed store. I'll rate again when finished.
Extensive range and very reasonably priced, bought a few T-shirts and singlets mainly self serve checkouts.
Had in stock an item I wanted even though their website said they didn't. Pays to just call in and look.
Right now the state of corons is very open so everyoke was staying fet aparr to eachother and being safe
Best kmart. Friendly service and I've found they have a wider range of goods then boronia or Eastland.
These are the worst thing I have ever brought! I bought 3 Suction Corner Caddies, none of them work!
Very reasonably priced & open 24/7, great for shift workers & unexpected purchases late at night.
Very good service there where some good deals in audio Bluetooth spk works better than I thought
Nice clean store. Friendly lady on the door. This is my local store and it's a fun destination
