I purchased a coffee scroll... I have tried to purchase a coffee scroll here for 2 weeks.. always sold out!!!!.. so today I finally got the last one in store.. the icing was green coloured .. not milk brown coloured as I normally see... I specifically asked.. why is it green tinged ?.. is it coffee flavoured icing.. she said .. don’t worry .. it looks different but it is definitely coffee flavoured so finally I got one!!!!... Size and quantity versus price....great. icing.. green icing.. totally just sugar.. no coffee flavour at all .. disappointing and because I specifically asked about the green coloured icing I feel deceptive energy here.. green icing is not coffee flavoured at all!!!!... pure sugar!!! Disappointed... will travel back to Mooroolbark for my true coffee scroll even though I live in Mt.Evelyn!!!...

Very disappointed in the customer service. Came here early in the morning to buy cake for a birthday, was the only one in the shop at the cake section and 2 staff were busy talking behind the counter not doing anything in particular and engrossed in their gossiping. I paced up and down a little bit and they just ignored me, and kept talking. One of them just walked off and I made eye contact with the other, she just looked at me and walked off out the back. Very poor customer service that can make or break a business, perhaps the owner needs to reiterate to some of his staff what customer service actually is,...um, like... cut the chit chat and serve the customers!

Rude staff. Went on Australia Day, opening hours state open until 2 pm. Was told at 1:15 the coffee machine was turned off, no coffee, ordered and sat at a table to eat, was told by a rude young girl that we had to go because they shut at 2pm, we were only going to be 10minutes, if you state your open until 2pm, then serve until then and allow people to sit until then. You should of stated you were only open until 1:15 because your rude staff wanted to leave early. And to top it off the food was terrible.

A trusty, well-loved bakery. The Mt Evelyn Bakery is my go-to for beautiful cakes and slices. My family particularly love their vanilla slice - it's one of the best! They have a wide range of desserts, and every time I go in I can find something new to try. Their hot food (pies, sausage rolls etc) are also delightful. I love their cauliflower and cheese roll in particular! Staff are friendly and quick - even when it gets busy! I'm always suggesting this bakery to others to try!

Shepherd's Pie had more clear gelatine and 'caramel' than any other ingredient. Potatoe and cheese top lacked flavour too. Not a nice pie. Vanilla slice covered in very very thick icing sugar dusting, enough to make you choke if you breath in dust! No vanilla taste to custard and no cream apparent in custard. Top and bottom biscuit layer very hard, resulting in custard completely squishing out. Not a nice vanilla slice. Staff friendly enough at busy lunch time.

Dont like the staff, especially a blonde haired lady who makes sandwiches, she ignores you for as long as possible and I think her face might crack if she smiled. Also the fact that there is a $10 minimum to have to spend to use eftpos is a rip off. Businesses hardly pay anything for the use of eftpos anymore so they are using the $10 minimum eftpos as a way to make more money by making you buy more than you require. Disgusting!!!!

I’ve searched high, low, far & wide for decent bakery food in Victoria. I even went to a town called bloody Bakery Hill that led to nothing but disappointment. I got excited when ‘Australia’s best pie’ bakery opened near me. Fair to say it was like ScoMo, all hype & spin, no substance, no delivery. Mt Evelyn Bakery is definitely the best I’ve found in my few years living here in Vic

Unfortunately the pies and sausage rolls are now terrible. I have given them a few goes now but what once used to be delicious is now awful. The sausage rolls have a dog food texture and smell, the chicken and corn pies which have been my favourite for 15yrs are watery and tasteless and the shepherds pies are gelatinous and taste terrible. Such a shame

A great place to stop for lunch with friendly service & that coffee you have been hanging out for. The Mount Evelyn Bakery serves up the best fresh made sandwiches or that hot pie you can smell as you walk in the door, not to mention the fantastic range of cakes always makes it hard to decide with one today believe me you won't be disappointed....

Modernised "Old style" hot bread store in sleepy Mt. Evelyn .... One of the long standing hot bread store cum cafe cum cool to hang out now. Busy on weekends, young team at the front, bakery & lunch stuff are good; pies, sausage rolls, croissants, sandwiches, focaccia, etc. Coffee is average.

Horrible pies cheap Asian ingredients!! I've been going to my Evelyn bakery for the last 30 years and when they changed owners I was truly upset! Luckily the original mt Evelyn bakery had only moved onto the main street in mt Evelyn and still sell the amazing pies they always have!!!

An interesting pastry worth a detour: Beef and Shiraz Pie. Chunky pieces of beef in a red wine sauce. A little dry, perhaps from sitting in their bain-marie but give their ‘pizza’ a miss... Staff were efficient at getting to you. Accepts MasterCard/Visa with $8 minimum purchase

A really great range of cakes, pastries and pies. Coffee and other hot and cold drinks available. Also a reasonable size area to sit down Parking can be a little tight in the lunch period, but otherwise a terrific place to indulge in some genuinely delicious comfort foods

Best pies around. Good size and great fillings. Ask for the "chunky" meat pies. Delightful lumps of tender beef or lamb in delicious gravy. We've been going there for decades and our only complaint is being sad when they close for two weeks over Xmas

It's a shame that on a few occasions I have turned up 2 hours before closing time, only to find they are already packing up their sandwiche bar. Cakes are usually stale and the staff make a lot of noise while handling dishes and cuttlery in the kitchen.

Long time resident and patron of this Bakery. What’s happened to it?!? Pasties were always nice now funny tasting and peppery. Got a light rye bread. Terrible consistency tasted like cardboard. New cooks? Or money saving reducing quality?

the food is absolutely DELICIOUS! i go in 1-2 times a week and have never had a bad experience. as a regular customer, i feel extremely valued, especially when the staff know my name and order as soon as i walk in the door!

Terrible customer service. Rude, personal comments. The older short haired women behind the counter needs to be fired, if she's the owner, she's ruining her business. You can't rely on mediocre food with such bad service.

We stopped by this bakery on the way to Silvan. I’m a big fan of French vanilla slices, and the ones here are fantastic — flaky pastry and quality custard. I will definitely go back again. Love it!

The baker has a huge range of baked goods and they also have a freshly made sandwich bar. The food is tastey and baked fresh daily. Worth a visit if you are in town and want baked goods
