What an amazing day we had here! First off, the negative reviews you might see, it's a farm, it's going to smell, if it didn't I'd be concerned. If you want to visit somewhere that doesn't smell, please don't pick a farm. Now that's out of the way, I want to tell you how awesome this place is! We arrived, and as an anxiety sufferer, I was nervous about visiting a new place, but the lady on the desk just told us about it, and it made it so much easier. We bought a tub of carrots to feed the animals with (it was only 50p) and I wish we'd bought a few more tubs because it was so enjoyable giving them carrots instead of grain like most places do. I think this place is perfect for 7/8yr and under. They have standard farm animals, cows, pigs, etc, then they have goats, donkeys and alpacas, and a small animal petting zoo with rabbits and guinea pigs. There's plenty for your kids to do, there's trampolines, a bouncy castle, a playground, 2 sand pits, tractors to ride on, a free mini outdoor play area and a low price indoor one too. We visited in the middle of winter and it was such an enjoyable day, I can only imagine how wonderful it would be in the summer. We spent around 4hrs here, but I do think in the summer, it would be able to spread for even longer. It's also perfect to come is you're a lone parent with a child/children, because you're stopping and starting constantly going to see new things, it doesn't feel tedious just sat there alone like it might in a soft play. Wellies are nice if you have them, but a lot of it is nice concrete so not too sloppy. We didn't try the cafe, but the staff all seemed really friendly and helpful too.

We visited for our sons birthday. Booked the younger ones into the play centre, had some lunch, and then did the 2-hour farmer experience! WOW! This was amazing. We bottle fed lambs and calfs, and we got to hold baby bunnies. Hand fed the meerkats! What an experience! We brushed the pony's and walked them around the farm too. Ruby was our farm guide, and she was fantastic with the kids and explaining how the farm worked as we made our way round and telling us about all the animals they have. It's definitely worth the visit. The one and only complaint I have is my milkshake we got at the end wasn't cold, but literally that's it, everything else was fantastic, lots of play area's for the kids, picnic area, feed the animals carrots on your way round (50p a box) well worth it. All the staff were friendly and helpful but the lady who signed us in was lovely and even came to ask us how everything had gone at the end and Ruby, these ladies are a credit to the farm and team of staff!

Great farm with lots to see. It was our first time visiting, and we were surprised at how much there was to look at and do. Everyone who works there is really friendly. They have a big cafe which has nice food, a farm shop and a big gift shop. The farm is a working farm so the cows, sheep and pigs aren't kept in fancy pens but that didn't bother us as you get to get really close to them, and see them be fed. We even got a chance to stroke the cows. They were very friendly. There is a bigger selection of animals outside, including goats, donkeys, Shetland ponies, chickens, etc. Then, there is a smaller animal area inside with guinea pigs and rabbits. There is a payable soft play area that we did not use. But there are plenty of other play areas. There is a large sand area with a play area on it and a few others dotted around the farm. There are some mini ride on tractors as well in a sectioned off area. We would definitely visit again.

Lots of farm animals for the kids to see, including donkeys, alpacas, pigs, cows, ducks, ponies, chickens, rabbits, lambs and goats. We were able to bottle feed the lambs by hand, which my 5 year old enjoyed. There is a climbing frame, some slides, swings, trampolines, a small soft play, a bouncy castle, zip lines and some peddle powered mini tractors. Also, there are some little electric powered coin operated tractors, so don't forget to bring some pound coins. One or two bits of play equipment are very slightly tired but the kids don't care in the slightest about that - I thought it was pretty good overall and very safe. The cafe looks fine, nothing salubrious, didn't try it this time but from I could see it looked perfectly good. The farm shop produce seemed to be reasonably priced as well. We spent a few hours at Swithens and it served as a nice family outing - would certainly visit again.

My friend and I went to the farm on Sunday thinking it would be fun to do something different and go look at some animals. When we arrived we purchased a box of carrots for 50p so that we could feed the animals. We didn’t expect the farm to have so many different animals and be so interactive. We had the best day feeding and stroking the animals. They all have such different personalities that really shine through. What an amazing day. As I said, it was just me and a friend but I will definitely be going again with my youngest brother as there was so much to do for kids as well. The farm really has covered all the bases in terms of entertainment. I will definitely be going back and taking as many friends as I can! Everyone should get to experience Swithens Farm.

Absolutely love Swithens Farm! It's a top pick for me and my little ones, both under 3 years old, who adore feeding the animals. The experience is made even better with the affordable £1 per box of carrots. The animals are incredibly friendly – from cows and sheep to goats and pigs, they're all a delight. And let's not forget the llamas! The new beach park is a fantastic addition, replacing the old greenhouses and offering endless outdoor climbing fun. A day here feels like a breeze with the toys and mini soft play to keep the kids entertained. Sure, things can get a bit muddy, but it's a working farm after all. It's all part of the charm of getting up close with the animals and enjoying some quality outdoor time. Oh, and feeding the lambs was an absolute highlight!

The place is great for the petting and feeding of animals especially for smaller children, however every time Iv been which is quite a lot the Staff are ALWAYS rude, not the ones round the farm but in the cafe. I ordered a full breakfast and asked if I could swap the tomato and black pudding For a hash brown instead to be told we dont do swaps, you have to pay for extra. Everything seemed a problem, was made to feel very uncomfortable! Food came and was cold & not very nice. Never been smiled at ever or greeted with a hello. Asked for an extra plate for my child and it seemed to be a problem! Need to cheer up! Playgym area is ok but slides are very dangerous, super fast and I would not recommend a child under 7 or 8 to be going on them.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. We got there and thought oh god it doesn't look great, but we were so wrong. The animals were well cared for and really friendly. You can tell they are used to people. The massive cows and the pigs are like dogs really clean, plenty of hand washing places, animals look well looked after. Kids were very happy with the play areas etc, food wasn't to expensive either. We were lucky to see newborn piglets born that morning! My daughter loved bottle feeding the calves and brushing the rabbit, as well as all the cows. I loved the big cows in the barn, Lurch was defo my favourite If we come back this way on holiday again, we will definitely be stopping. Highly recommended.

First time visiting and would highly recommend, the place was very clean and the farm animals didn't have that much of a smell like some can, they were very well looked after and then pens were all clean and kept to a high standard. Feeding the Lambs was so much fun, all the workers we spoke with were very friendly and helpful. The play areas were tidy and clean and there was so much to do, my little one had a lot of fun, we ate in the cafe and it didn't disappoint, full english was spot on, can't wait to go again, I highly recommend, the toy shop is very good also, average prices and they did have some home made produce to purchase, thanks for a great day and your doing a fantastic job with the farm

Absolutely fabulous every single time we go. We were lucky to visit most recently on a sunny Friday and it was very busy, but still ample space so we didn't miss out on anything. Included in the entry price was giving milk to the calves and the lambs. There's tons of other animals to pet & feed, the staff are friendly and nice, and so much else to do including swings, slides, mini tractors, trampolines and a bouncy castle. There's also a little garden centre where you can buy plants, and the cafe, where the food is very tasty. You definitely get your money's worth and the kids are always knackered after a fun and active day out. Ample parking and easy to find, cannot rave about this place enough.

Took our kids to the pumpkin event the weekend before Halloween. The spooky woods, tractor rides and pumpkin picking were well organised, and the animals were great. We carved the pumpkins there too, but there seemed to be a lack of staff in this area as we weren't able to get the face painting done (which was mentioned as something to do when we got our tickets) and I grabbed what I assumed was the goody bag as there was just a table of them with noone to hand them out, so could have been a bit better run in this regard. The cafe is great, lots of seating and staff, quick service and very reasonable food prices. It's a 30 minute drive from ours so I think we'll be likely to return again soon.

£32 for 2 adults and 2 children thats £128 a month if you went once a week! It's a small farm with old run down facilities. Not what I would call a cheap entrance price or value for money. Don't get me wrong it has some nice features and kids will enjoy been there. Value for money I'm not convinced, if you want people to pay to feed your animals I'd consider a price review. With those entrance prices I'd expect the animal feed to be part of the price. Overall - good to pass a few hrs max with kids at that price is it worth it? I'm not convinced . Rhubarb farm has free entrance to look around animals and a fantastic shop.

Today I rang swithens Farm to see if they could help us with 77 children who had had their farm trip cancelled. The staff were amazing. They found an eating area for us, brought extra benches, sorted lamb feeding for each class, provided a talk and timetable for us and carrots for every child. Nothing was too much trouble. Our children and staff had an amazing day here. Thank you for making 77 children and 12 adults smile. We will be back and I will be bringing my own children for the day. Wonderful place and so much to do. Thank you

I have been here twice and really liked it but today's visit was disappointing. There is lots to do but unfortunately safety & hygiene is not upto standard. Children playing in the soft play indoor barns were so dirty and ropes fixed with duck tape. This is a temporary fix, and does not look nice . The indoor areas need a good clean where children of all ages use the soft play. I did take photos but I cant attach them on here no option. Apart from that the children enjoyed feeding the animals, using the tractors etc. They did have fun..

Very fond of this place. I have been bringing my children here since 2019 and made some unforgettable memories. Far far better than other open farms in Yorkshire. The kids can get up close to the farm animals, feeding etc. There is plenty for them to do. Lots of spaced out indoor and outdoor play areas rather than all in one place which I like including a new sand play area which looks like great fun in the summertime. I find the pricing reasonable to say some of the other open farms are almost £50 for a small family. Would definitely rather spend my money here. Can't wait to visit again !

  • Shelly Olivadoti

Over priced Halloween experience, although the kids enjoyed the tractor ride. Hood a duck was £4 to win a poor quality soft toy with an hole in or slime that wasn't really slime. Food was over priced for the portion size, the soup came with a burnt piece of bread and no butter and the Toasty appeared to be missing any filling. We will not be returning. However the Staff were helpful and friendly and the animals went down well. We did not feel it was good value for the money when compared to other places we have visited.

With an excited toddler this can't be anything but 5*. Under 3s being free is great and so for £8 get a great morning out feeding the animals with carrots, hand feeding lambs and enjoying all the play areas Yes some parts are a little dated but what's nice is there's none of the money grabbing for extras when you're there. The cafe is reasonably priced (or being a packed lunch, they have a play area) and I think most places would charge extra for the lamb feeding. Can't wait to come back!

Lovely family day out. Very reasonable entry price too. We all had a fabulous time. The children absolutely loved feeding the animals with the packs of carrots for 50p, also giving the calfs their bottles of milk. The play area was great too, with the tractors and scooters ect, also the play area to climb in. Lovely cafe too, or plenty of benches to sit at, if you take your own picnic. Very hygienic everywhere too, with lots of places to sanitize or wash your hands. Brilliant day out!!

Great day out for small kids. Lots to do and loads of creative little set ups. They also have lots of toys and games to keep little ones entertained after the animals, including a softplay. My only criticism would be that the food in their cafe, whilst very reasonably priced, doesn't appear to be fresh produce from their farm which is a shame. I'd rather pay a little bit more and have fresh beef in a burger :) but I bought some eggs and meat from the butcher and it was amazing. Will 100% return :)

We took our reception class to visit the farm today and it was a wonderful experience for all of us. We were given a very warm welcome by farmers Lisa and Adrian and shown around. The little ones loved every minute of it, feeding carrots to the animals, milk to the lambs, walking around the farm and then being given a tractor ride by Farmer Gary. The staff were amazing with the children. A great place for an interactive school trip, one we want to repeat in future. Thank you for this experience. Abeda Faruki Paradise Early Years

Absolutely amazing!!! This is what cannon hall used to be, and what cannon hall claims to be but isn’t at all. This is a proper farm, with happy proper farm animals. You can get up close, feed them, pet them. It’s a proper farm and absolutely so worth a day out. I’d say this is the best we’ve visited in all of the UK, and we take our toddler to lots of farms. We got to feed a calf, pet a rabbit, get up close to animals. The play areas are so good and suitable for young toddler right up to an older kid. Honestly amazing, will 100% be back in summer.

Farm side was great for the kids and loved feeding the calfs and lambs. The cafe I wasn't impressed with. Spent 4.20 on a child's pack up box which consisted of sandwhich,Seabrook crisps, full apple and a mini roll .we asked the lady if it was possible to change the crisps to something softer as my little girl wouldn't be able to mangage these or a full apple to be told no so all in all pretty expensive pack up for a jam sandwhich and mini roll.

A very 'ramshackle' type working farm but open to visitors. Be prepared to experience some rickety rides and play areas but although how things look the kids loved them. The place is very expensive for what it is and we were charged £35 for a family of 2 adults and 3 children, 1 being only 3 and charged full price!! Why the need to charge adults full price?? Its a kids farm?? There are other better farms in the area for less money so please bear that in mind!!! We would return but only once a year at these prices I'm afraid!!!

We stayed roughly an hour. We went with the kids and had nice time feeding the animals. Kids playing areas are nice. A lot of hand washing points, but its a way overpriced for what it is. They charge £8pp, adults as well. It would be fair if the adults could use the slides too :D We got some overpriced icecream. One of the flavours was nice, but the banana flavour was inedible. Powdery taste as if it was mixed with sand. Made me caugh

One of the best days out we have had. Not crazy expensive, even the cafe/gift shop/ice cream was all decently priced. Having all the activity options for a very active toddler was awesome! I loved how the park, trampolines, moon bounce, sand pit and cars were all in the same area. Really is a worth while trip! We struggle with eating out as my son has allergies, the staff were very helpful and even had an allergy book that I could look through to pick his own food out for him! Vegan ice cream was also available.

Such a fun family day out. Me and my three kids love it here. We spent the full day from around 11am till 4:30 and there was not a dull moment. Last time we came later and felt it was not enough time. There are a large variety of animals to pet and feed (so cute!) and lots of play areas for the kids to let off steam. Make sure you don’t miss the bottle feeds with the lambs and calf’s! Would definitely recommend!

Was a lovely place to camp right next to a sheep field and donkeys. Food in the cafe was great and I love that they sell there own produce etc. Only bad thing I have to say is I heard/saw multiple sheep/lambs coughing, I know all animals get ill just like us. They could just have a sheep cold but I do have a concern when young children are petting animals that are essentially unwell.

Visited here on Saturday 10th June 2017. Had a good couple of hours where we visited The Play Barn, we didn't bother going to see the animals. Very polite staff, very welcoming. Nice little soft play area, all the usual apparatus you'd expect. Ball pool for the little ones and another area with crayons and pictures to colour in. Got some dinner in the canteen area, my daughter had sausage, mash and gravy and to be honest it looked very nice! A good couple of hours out!

  • Hinna Saeed

We held my son's 6th birthday party here and it was great. The staff (especially Carl) were super helpful. The whole event was well organised and all the kids loved it. The kids played in the play barn, had food and then went to feed the animals. They absolutely loved feeding the animals. It was nice to be at a party where you do more than just play in a soft play area.

Great place for kids. £4 per person, the cafe looked nice we didn't eat there though, we had a picnic. Range of farm animals including meerkats? Little petting barn with bunnies lambs and guinea pigs. Could also feed the lambs milk. Nice play area with slides, trampolines, bouncy castle and bikes/push alongs. And a big sand pit. Also a small fair I assume opens in school holidays with teacups and a train. Great price for a grwmeat day out. My boy loved it.

Went camping here. really nice be so close to the animals and the late checkout is amazing. Farm is ok to go around and feed lambs. Also food is very nice at the cafe. Although camping toilets are portaloos they were clean and didn't not smell. Drinking water was available on campsite and, play area is opened for free at 5pm for kids and that was really good. Also very dog friendly

As a support worker I visit this place regularly with my clients. The farm is really well looked after and the animals look really healthy. Its a good place to take children with a great family atmosphere. There is a local shop on site where all meats are locally produced, a nice cafe and a children's play area outdoors and in. Purchase a bag of food at reception (usually carrots) and feed the animals in your own time. Great place.

  • David Palmer

We had a terrific visit - on a really wet day. Fortunately all the staff are happy and friendly and lots of the areas are covered. Very happy and incredibly tame livestock of every variety!! High quality food in the cafe for very reasonable prices - and the same applies to the butcher’s counter. We will definitely be back! ‍♀️

Brilliant. Worth getting the carrots at desk too, it's a huge box and it's only 50p and the animals love it. Get an up close personal feel with them. Not just adult farm animals too. Loads of babies and new borns. Cute little things. Also has a play area with a bug slide climbing frames. A child playgym and a sandpit and if that wasn't enough a little tractor racing corse for children. Great views. Good size carpark.

Lovely little farm, plenty of animals to feed and interact with which is a bonus, staff friendly, managed to feed quite a few lambs and calves, we were the last ones standing with the calves so feed about 4 but we love cows so it was fabulous, food in the cafe reasonably priced and was nice, will defo return.

Little one loved it here, loads to see and do. Very interactive staff. Let the little one stroke new born ducklings and feed some lambs. He was over the moon. Not over priced either and all the staff we came across were more than friendly. Thanks

Took my grandson's for the Pumpkin festival & we had a lovely time & the boy's loved it! Only thing I'd recommend is wheelbarrows for the pumpkins to get them from the pumpkin patch to the tractor & from the tractor to the car park, we really struggled as we had 5 & they were far too heavy for the boy's to carry.

Amazing hands of farm. Feed the orphaned lambs, pet the baby rabbits and Guinea pigs. The outdoor play area is fantastic for kids to climb, jumps and play in the mini sand pit. If the weather isnt too good there is an ample sized indoor soft play for an extra cost. Food in the cafe is fresh and good quality.

Good day out. Loads of animals to walk round and feed. Play barn looks a bit tired and in need of some investment. Cafe has decent, well priced food serving the usual sort of stuff you'd expect. Animals seem to be well looked after.

Good place to visit with younger children, not massive amount of animals, but they can get up close and hand feed during certain times of the day. Some new play areas since last time we visited

Lovely day out for the children the staff are so helpful. And the children had a fab time feeding the Animals. Adults enjoyed it too. Well worth the money and indoor soft play area in case it rains not that it did untill we left at 2-30 pm. Thanks to all the staff and people involved.

Another excellent trip to the farm for pumpkin picking. So much to do and the staff are so friendly bringing the animals out. Pumpkin picking was great with a nice walk round the woods after the tractor ride to meet the witch in the woods. My new favourite place. Thank you all.

  • Carolyn Clarke

Lovely farm where you can get up close to feed the animals, which all seem well cared for & content. There's also a cafe, shop & children's play areas too. Well worth a visit.

Bought my nephew and autistic brother on a Sunday. Prices were good and everything was organised. Good sized play area for kids and plenty of animals to enjoy feeding. We got to bottle feed the baby lambs too. First time experience for me too. I was impressed.

Great budget farm that lets you get close to goats, sheep, donkeys etc! It is very much a working farm with access to visitors, but for the price you can't go wrong!!

Attended a 5th Birthday party. Soft play is pretty good, and they get to see and feed the animals afterwards. Prices for drinks and food seemed reasonable too.

Without a doubt the best butcher around. The meat is always top quality and the pies are delicious. Mick the butcher goes out if his way to give the best service. Well recommended.

The farm is at an optimum distance from the city which is an added advantage if you're looking at a quick day out with kids. About the farm, it's maintained well and the staff are very friendly. Best is the cafe that serves some delicious food

It's no Hollywood farm, probably flouts a few health and safety regulations (doesn't bother me, adds to its charm in fact) but there's loads for the kids to do and you can feed all the animals. Cafe is pretty good if you're after something

I come here for the butchers, and he is so knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The qhole place is a nice place in general, great for families too.

Really pleasant and affordable family outing. Really thought through with covid19 with lots of hand washing, one way system, and also toilets. Friendly staff and appreciate their patience with precocious kids. Nice to see the baby animals

Really nice day out, lots of baby animals aswell as adult animals. Food was very responsible prices. We had the kid pizza meals and pie and peas, nothing left by the end of it. Even took home some pies and sausage rolls from the butchers.

Lovely visit to the farm, feeding the animals with carrots and the baby cows and sheep with milk. The cafe has a great range of good food. There's an array of children's play areas with slides, soft play, trampolines and pedal tractors.
