I'm afraid I have to go with the majority here. I will add that at least two of the employees I've dealt with have been (generally, at least) polite and helpful, though one did get testy when I was attempting to locate a missing package, until I insisted he hear me out. After being told that I had received a phone call saying the already missing package had been found and would be in a locker (along with another package which had arrived a few days later), I went and found a locker key... but the locker was empty. At that point, he went on another search and finally tracked them down... in another locker. A few days ago, a third (or fourth, if you include the second misplacing of the first package mentioned above) package in three weeks went missing. Same thing: An email from USPS stating that it had been delivered, but this has yet to happen (nearly a week later). Today I went to pick up a package which was delivered Monday, only to find it forced into the box itself (too small) by FOLDING OVER A TRADE PAPERBACK BOOK in half... deliberate damage to my property. This was no mistake; there's no way it could be. So, while I give full credit to those who have been helpful, the fact that they've managed to misplace so many packages in such a short time (one, as stated, twice), and now have quite intentionally damaged another, leave me no choice but to say that this is the very worst establishment I've ever dealt with. Over nearly 50 years, I've had an occasional package go astray, but always before the employees I've dealt with have been very helpful in resolving the issue. Here, little seems to be done to keep it from happening again. This really is unacceptable behavior.

I received a package pickup slip, so I went to pick it up just to find out that they left me a wrong slip, telling me to go to another post office. So I go from another post office to this usps office. I told them about their mistake and the staff goes "well it's not his fault (the person who left me the slip) because he was helping from another station." WOW I don't know who's fault it is, if it's not their fault. I thought checking that he has the right pickup slip before getting to work is his responsibility. The funny thing is that the same thing happened before when I live in another state! The situation was worse then because I had really tight schedule everyday back then, and going to a wrong post office really hurt my schedule. Right now, I have a package with a tracking number that said it was delivered when I didn't even receive it. I called about it, and the staff says he'll have the deliverer check and call back. Not even a word of "sorry". People who work at usps post office don't seem to have pride in their job. Do they realize what they do reflect USPS? How they treat their customers can change what they think of USPS? I don't think they do. I only wrote two of my experiences (had more unpleasant interactions with them) here. I want to tell employees at USPS, "please have a pride and a sense of responsibility in your job". It's probably also USPS's fault for not being able to instill a sense of pride in their employees.

I wish I could give 0 stars. My mom mailed 4 packages to me that included gifts and family heirlooms from my deceased father. She wanted to use UPS but I suggested USPS because I wanted to support them, however, I will NEVER send a package through the post office again, ever. Only 2 of the packages arrived, 50% success rate is not good and then to make matters worse when we called the post office here they were beyond rude. The woman almost hung up on us twice! And, it was their fault! Also to note, we had tracking numbers for both priority packages and one of them said that it was out for delivery but was never updated past that point. When we inquired we were told that the post woman was reputable and that she would not just neglect to deliver our package. I have no doubt that the post woman was a great employee but the bottom line was that the package was missing and it did no good to have a tracking number if it didn't actually track the package, people are human and they make mistakes, I get that but the fact that the post office didn't apologize once or even try to be accommodating in helping us locate our package was infuriating. These packages cannot be replaced and a little bit of help or acknowledgement of their mistake would have been nice. It is no surprise that the US post office is suffering, they should, their service and performance is sub par to say the least.

Using someones profile for review, they were generous enough to let me use. I wish zero was an option. After a missed delivery, I went to pick it up. They told me that was not "protocol" and the package would be delivered the following day. Later the afternoon I called the N. Lamar USPS, and was rudely greeted by an older woman. I told her why I called, and I was then lectured to not tell her how to do her job, guess the B**** was having a horrible day, at least thats is what she yelled at me about over the phone. As a 38 year retired officer in the US Army, with over 15 tours, I refuse to feel like a drill sergeant is chewing me out. Turns out the package then mysteriously gets redirected to Maine... Go figure. The package contained what was left of my sons personal items, he had recently taken his own life during the last semester of his senior year in college. After the woman was done chewing me out, I told her that, the response was the following : He should not have done that Then" I will make it, a priority in my life to have that woman terminated from the Job. I will also be going to the press with this. Don't use this post office, unless you wish to be neglected. USPS is a great company, and offers a fantastic service, but this one office is corrupt. Thanks, I hope other do not experience the same type of service that I was given.

Don't bother paying extra in certifying your mail. I paid extra to have important documents sent to the DMV and certified it so that I could track the package and the mail never arrived at the DMV. When I went to check the tracking number, it says my package is still at the post office as of last week, which is when I dropped it off. I went to check with the post office on why my mail still hasn't reached its final destination, but all they could tell me is that the package was sent and they have no idea where it is. They forgot to put a second barcode that allows me to track it, despite me paying extra for this service. The package also has not been delivered according to them, but its in the process, however its been a week, how much longer? As a result of their carelessness, I am having to pay a late fee for the DMV for not submitting the documents on time and also having to pay a replacement fee to get my documents reproduced. Now every time I send something in the mail, I'll always have this fear that the USPS will lose the mail.

Multiple “hold mail” requests have been ignored completely through this awful office this past year. I wish we could have a different office but are stuck with this fully incompetent crew. While traveling internationally I get video notices sent of all activity at my house, and watched various delivery people put mail in my box. There is zero way to contact them (we spent hours trying, but any emails/forms take days to get a reply, calling them is either infinite rings or they hang up on you...) to collect the mail back and/or to continue the hold. They continue to deliver and deliver and deliver, while we have to bother our neighbors to collect our mail, making sure our house doesn’t look vacant and to prevent important mail accumulating for anyone to steal. This has happened multiple times and is unacceptable for a very basic service. Get it together.

Never thought I'd ever write a review (or read one for that matter) of a post office but this place is painful to visit. I've had three packages that came here for pick up over the last month and dreaded that another one went here. If you go to the package pickup window and ring the bell, bring a lawn chair and a snack because you may end dying while waiting for anyone to assist you. It is really that bad. The bell is obnoxiously loud and you can hear people behind the door talking but no one answers., even after 10+ rings. The solution is to wait in the rather long regular line where I've only ever seen one person working the desk and make that poor person get up and try and find someone to grab a package. Then you wait back in the package pick up line again for a literal eternity.

I paid for a po box for three months from January to March 2019. Customer service was bad. My rental should've renewed automatically, but it never did, because the female employee at 3507 N Lamar messed it up. So, I had to go online to renew it myself. And I did, on the 1st of April 2019. A couple of weeks later, I discovered that my po box had been blocked, I could not access it, and my mail had been returned!!! I went to the post office during working hours to investigate. I talked with the employees there. They seemed to be lost! They never offered me an explanation as to why my po box had been blocked and mail returned to sender, even though I had paid the rental fee until the 30th of June 2019. They offered no apology, either. That is a disgraceful service. Atrocious.

I have 3 lost packages because the mailman put my locker key in the wrong mail box, and went to here to ask my packages. First time I was here, an employee said that I would let you know as soon as the mail man checked the locker, but I haven't got any response from them until today. So, I visited USPS again in the morning, and they said the supervisor checked all lockers near by my mail box, and all of my packages seem like being robbed and asked me to claim via online to get money back from USPS. Afternoon, I met the mail man in front of my mail box and asked him to find my packages, and he made it. I really appreciate with the mail man. He made my day. HOWEVER, the employee, manager and supervisor in OFFICE, they are so UNRELIABLE PEOPLE. They lied to me.

I spent a $150 on wedding invitations I put it in one of their blue boxes and and I waited about a month. The wedding invitations that I sent after that I've already been received from my different mailbox. This Post Office Has gave me the run around for 4 days about how babout how they don't check the smallbox and it's the other Post Office jurisdiction. So after driving back-and-forth to both these Post Office. They closed down early I could hear them talking about me outside of the door. When they told me they were closed I pointed out their store hours and said I still have 45 minutes. The level of unprofessionalism, And disrespect That I've received today Is heinous and unsatisfactory. You should be ashamed you treat your combat veterans like this.

  • Tessa Barlyn

HORRIBLE!!! Never have a change of address if you can help it. I put in a change of address 3 weeks ago and got a confirmation # over 2 weeks ago. Contacted this PO and spoke with several different people who had NO idea why the carrier did not get the memo. I was told finally that my regular carrier was out of town. Now telling me that OH! we found a heap of mail for you but you can't have it. Called the USPS main number and got hung up on! I swear the manager said, "I cannot hear you any longer, I'm going to have to hang up now" BULLSHIT! Melissa was terrific at this post office though. Very efficient and understood my frustration and took care to overnight my mail the day that I called.

April 24,2023 The postage stamp will change to 0.66 starting in July. April 27, 2023 There is a blue mail drop box outside of this location. The post Office staff @ the desk is great! The lobby doors to retrieve your mail from the po boxes was locked. Those hours to have access to your post office box is from 6am to 6pm. Monday through Friday. I arrived @ 7:45am. If the hours posted on the door will not be followed. Can a notice be displayed with the correct hours. That would be greatly appreciated. Secondly the drive up bulk mail box has been removed. Service desk lobby opens @ 8:30am Monday through Friday

I normally don’t have to use USPS to mail something, so I’m not used to their process. I figured I just needed to give them my open box and printed return label. Wrong. The expectation is everything is already taped and ready to go, unlike UPS where they do everything for you. The lady was very rude and could have been more polite about telling me how things work, but instead she was conveying an attitude with each thing she was asking me to do. I obviously didn’t know what I was doing when I came up to the counter, yet she was shaming me for not having things ready as though I was doing that on purpose.

Giving this Post Office 5 stars solely because of my experience with Eddie. I've never had a "great" experience at a Post Office, but today I was surprised enough that I'm taking the time to write a review. Eddie was very fast and friendly. The line went very quickly and each person ahead of me left satisfied. When it was my turn, he advised me on better packaging, insurance, and delivery times (trying to get a fragile gift to my mother by Xmas). I took all of his suggestions. He understood what I intended to do and helped me find the best way to accomplish that. Thank you Eddie! You're the best!

  • Julia Clark

I drive farther to go to this post office because they're so great! I was in and out super quickly. There was almost no line (every other post office I've been to has a long line that takes forever to get through) and it went quickly because the postal workers are so efficient. They were friendly, warm, and quick. I needed some extra priority boxes and they even went into the back, pulled out the whole cart to restock the display, and made sure I got what I needed - and did all this way faster than anywhere else I've been. I'll always be going to this branch from now on!

  • Abbey Denlinger

I misaddressed a package going to my daughter who had recently moved to Austin. This package would have had to be returned all the way back to Chicago. Although it was difficult to get through on the phone, when I did, Joann, was incredibly understanding and helpful, going above and beyond to track down the package and make sure it was delivered correctly. With all the bad raps the post office gets, I was pleasantly surprised, impressed and grateful that Joann and those in this post office went the extra mile to help to get this package delivered. :)

  • Adam Deats

For whatever reason, my apartment number wasn't listed on the address. I tried to change the address online, but it apparently never went through. I called this location to fix the issue, but apparently the package had already been sent back after a failed delivery. I asked why I wasn't called about the issue (my number was included with the address), and the lady I spoke to said "we aren't in the business of making phone calls, we just deliver packages". This isn't true, they're supposed to contact you in the event the package can't be delivered.

  • Djinaustin

Lost yet another package. Said they tried to deliver with signature but that’s not true. I scanned the entire day’s surveillance video At my house and nobody from usps came by. Only UPS came that day, who made another successful delivery btw. Manager said he would call me back today and did not. Called back, guy went to look and said it’s not there. This is why our country is losing to competing countries. Incompetence and indifference. Nobody in these position cares or has pride for their own work.

  • Crystal Gonzales

My mail carrier thinks it's ok to be on his blue tooth, just talking away. Iam here at home watching t.v. or doing something. And all of a sudden I hear a man's voice. Right at my door. For at least 30 to 40 seconds. It's really annoying. Not to mention it scars me. I suffer from anxiety. And I have a dog. So my dog goes crazy because he hears someone on our porch talking. I have called and complained but he's still doing it. Oh and when I called no it's ether busy or no one answer's the phone.

  • Katherine Kelly

This is the second time I have read online that my package has been delivered when it has not been. Last time I spent hours trying to call them and find my packages, this time I can't even get a hold of them. Unfortunately I have a very full class schedule that doesn't work well with their hours so getting in touch is difficult. But I feel that I shouldn't have to call the post office every time I have a package. Overall, this has been my worst experience with a post office I've ever had.

  • Debbie Robertson

I had a package that was mis delivered and Angela Phillips was a dream she not only contacted the postal carrier to find out that it indeed had been mis delivered but made sure and gave me a call back later that afternoon to make sure that I did indeed get that package that day. I also got a visit from the sub carrier that had initially miss delivered the package to apologize. I know they have a tough job and I try to help them out by giving them cold bottled water for their efforts.

  • Rob Jones

Staff is generally helpful and nice during business hours. However, the PO Box lobby hours are listed as being open on the weekends on the building entrance doors, and this is the second weekend day in a row where the doors have been locked at 9 in the morning. Seeing as weekends are the only days I have time to pick up my mail, I'm likely going to get charged a holding fee now. Y'all need to either update the hours, or actually be open when your listed hours say you will be.

  • M Marble

Our letter carrier, Laura Mewis, really went above and beyond recently. I had just left to run a near-by errand and my front door didn't latch properly. Our two big dogs got out and were dashing around, trying to decide what to do with their unexpected taste of freedom. Laura tried to get them to go back inside the house, but there were having none of it. She was finally able to entice them into the yard and shut the gate. Thank you so much, Laura, for rescuing our dogs!!

  • Deneb

They never attempted to delivery my package, but the online status says I rejected it upon delivery. So I called and a lady answers with "Hello?" I thought I'd called a personal number by mistake. As soon as I ask "Am I calling USPS?" she says "Oh, you're the person looking for a package for aren't you," (not me) and before I get a chance to say either yes or no I'm put on hold for for 30 minutes and then they hang up without getting back to me. What a joke.

  • Lisa Yvette

This Post Office location is the WORST. This is the 5th time they have lost a package of mine and the overall lack of concern or accountability is nil. Either someone who works there is a damn thief & STEALING packages or they are careless & putting packages in the wrong box. I am not paying for a PO box to have my packages lost or stolen! I will NEVER have another package delivered there again and I will be canceling my PO box very soon. I am done.

  • Kate Barrett

Worst. Ever. It's my local post office unfortunately. A week ago I mailed a package and the chute was stuck. Another patron and I notified the staff and were met with 'Oh yea, we know. Just put it over here.' motioning to a huge pile of packages on the counter. I went back today and it's still stuck! I'm mailing packages to customers and I'm so scared they will get lost in this hell post office.

  • Z.

Post office experiences by their very nature will always be hit-or-miss, but I've been going to this particular location for awhile and all the clerks I've dealt with so far have been great. (One of them was even so kind as to give me change in quarters when I needed them because the stupid banks here won't exchange a roll of quarters for a $10 bill unless you're an accountholder.)

  • Yuchen HE (hychyc07)

They sucks!!!! I was waiting at home for a signature package, but they never tried to knock my door but leave a note indicating they have been here. What's the point? if you never knock my door, how could it possible to get signature? I could not pick it up or ask for redelivery since it;s on its way. The servie guy told me to find the truck nearby by myself. WTF!!

  • Ann Manning

Extremely poor service by my mail carrier. I have a slot mailbox, no effort at all to put bigger envelopes in it. I have left several nice notes asking to please do so, guessing maybe he can't read? Several legal documents have been destroyed due to his laziness, causing me time and money to have replaced. What happened to taking pride in your job......

  • Charissa Jackson

Really rude employees. Probably would help to have packing tape out with the flat rate boxes if you want them to be taped before they get to the desk. Otherwise have a sign that says ask for tape. Not very thoughtful to not have tape available with the boxes, and have an attitude when someone doesn't magically know ahead of time how your system works.

  • Mike Hinijosa

DO NOT USE THIS POST OFFICE. I had to send in a birth certificate for my passport application and the person “helping” me switched the addresses between sender and receiver and on top of that entered them wrong. So my important documents not only have been late by 2 weeks, it’s not even clear if I can get them back.

  • Josh Kerr

Worst post office EVER. Stay away at all costs. I literally pay extra to avoid this post office. 1 out of 10 packages sent to me is lost. Post office has zero customer service. Its almost like they go out of their way to damage or lose your packages. I can't stand them. We should defund the USPS in Austin ASAP.

  • John Zdunczyk

USPS as a whole is just a joke. They lost a package that was sent to me because it was dispatched to the wrong office (this one). Came here in person to find out what’s going on, they’d already sent it back to some distribution center, and now no one can find it. I hope USPS goes out of business soon.

  • Arica Jades

I sent a package in may and it's still lost at this post office and nobody can find it. The website won't give me updates, and the person they had "looking" for me never followed back up. It's mid July and I sent it priority. Similar to others I have a missing package issue with this post office.

  • Emily Uhrhammer

I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. Sure, there have been long lines every now and then, but nothing huge. I had to send out a passport app and my tax amendment and the staff were very helpful and ensured I remembered everything before sealing the envelope. Good people, good service!

  • Mark Stevens

Friendly staff working and quite helpful with questions! Plenty of parking and easily seen from either N Lamar Blvd or W 34th St. I’ve been to this location several times to ship packages with no issues and generally in and out at about 5 to 10 minutes.

  • Imani Smith

Shara and vernice are extremely rude. they show no respect for customers and are not very friendly. I’m not really sure how they made it to they’re position. 0/10 would not recommend and i’ll definitely be going to higher ups because of their behavior

  • mark edwards

Never felt the need to or have cause to leave a great review for a Post office before BUT wow! such nice staff. Roland is a great guy and very helpful! Shows the type of atmosphere real leadership can create. All Post Masters should take notes!!!!!

  • McKenna Hixon (mchixon419)

I have called this post office no less than 15 times over the last two days hoping for help re-routing a package and still have not had anyone pick up the phone. Why even have a number listed if no one answers and the voice mail box isn't set up?

  • Alana M

Yes, there is almost always a line, but that’s because they stay very busy. Roland is super helpful, professional, and friendly. I don’t know the name of the other staff, but I’ve never had any issue getting the information I needed from anyone.

  • Kelly Strickler

Just got off the phone with this location after they sent my package back to the sender ("undeliverable as addressed" even though the address was correct, and they did not leave a redelivery slip). The employee was rude and unhelpful.

  • Many Mansions Music

Excellent service and very kind workers. I do understand all of the negative reviews here. Everyone is always super helpful, they move quickly, and have never had an issue with a package. Roland is the best. Keep up the good work!

  • Marsha Kendall

I travel a lot and do mail hold...my mail from two recent mail holds has never appeared and has been lost forever. There were paychecks and important items that I had to spend many hours having to deal with. This is unacceptable!

  • Kylie Lahey

Roland was gracious and patient with everyone in line before me, and had the answers to all my questions about expediting mail and knew exactly what I needed. Made my visit to the post office not only efficient, but enjoyable!

  • Aditi Misra

They were unhelpful and constantly mocked the accent . I totally agree there’s staff shortage but I checked everything online with usps customer care but they said it rudely go try somewhere else we don’t do this or that .

  • Justin Wendling

God forbid you're picking up a package at the blue service door. Ring the bell all you want but they'll decide when they're ready to walk over to you. That being said, the person who did come over eventually was friendly.

  • Levi Bucao

Terrible post office. I had dozens of packages delivered at my old apartment without any issues. Moved here and my very first package is lost. When I went to the post office to ask about, they were rude and not helpful.

  • Mervin Malone

A very nice staff. However, it would really be helpful if they replaced the outside mail drive-up boxes. I have arthritis, and it's often difficult to get out of our company vehicle to take mail inside.

  • Matthew Chovanec

I have never been to such a pleasant, friendly, and efficient post office. One time while trying to send a package one of the employees broke into song. It's amazing here. So lucky we live right by.

  • Dan

"You, the recipient has not physically received the package. I apologize for any inconvenience this matter has caused you. Regrettably, there are no provisions for reimbursing you for your loss."

  • Nate Leonard

Post offices catch a lot of flack, but the folks who work here are helpful and really kind. Had a missing package due to the wrong address, and they tracked it down for me quickly. Thanks y'all

  • Hyojeong Kim

It's awful. Don't go there on Saturday. Even though they open until 2pm, nobody answers the door bell. I can hear people behind the door, but they totally ignore us within office hour.

  • Trong D

misdelivered my son's package to another apt. then I tried to call to this post office. but they didn't bother to answer the phone. :( . lucky neighbor brought the package to my son.

  • Heather C.

I found the postal employee I interacted with to be kind and competent. This person handled my complicated rural mailing as well as an international mailing. It was made very easy.

  • Tabitha Sprinkle

Not receiving my government mail only? What's going on here? I need answers? Just my government type mail like food stamps and my unemployment benefits? So i need answers now?

  • Kathleen Pait

I just needed to pick up a package, but these people are incompetent. I waited forever, rang the doorbell for packages several times, & still nothing. Avoid this place.

  • Lydia Giangregorio

The employees here are always friendly and incredibly patient. They kindly inform you of shipping rules and help you with your goal. Thanks USPS, you're awesome.

  • Luka Tomic

I was shot 14 times in the chest in your establishment and the shooter was never caught. But I was mailed to the emergency room in mere minutes, great service.

  • Kara Mischnick

Used the drive up drop box two weeks ago and my mail has not been delivered. Two different pieces of mail going to two different cities have been lost.

  • Domingo Cruz

First time ever having to send a certified letter. Terry walked me through the process and helped me get it sent out on time. Thanks Terry!

  • allie van zoeren

Always a great experience. The USPS still manages to get packages delivered faster than both ups and fedex. And the prices can’t be beat.

  • Allyson P

THE WORST!!!! RUDE HORRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! INEFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT!! LOST PACKAGES!! NO COMMUNICATION!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

  • Kera Glasgow

1 employee with a long line, and it took 10 minutes for the first customer. I finally had to leave to make my next appointment on time.

  • Andy Ruiz

No one EVER answers the phone. I seem to always receive contradicting information. People were also very rude! No confidence in USPS!

  • Katie Ostazeski

Really great post office location, visit often for work. Staff is extremely friendly and more knowledgable than at other locations.

  • Katie Cook

They let me hand-stamp my wedding invites which I was so happy about, and were so friendly. I went in on a Friday around 12pm.

  • Richard Lowerre

Will not answer the phone to allow me to determine if this is the post office serving my home at which my mail is being held

  • Ryan

Wasn't too busy and had it's own kiosk so you don't have to deal with an employee having a bad day or hating their job.

  • Oldschool Values

I'm having to drive to the Post Office to get my mail, so is everyone in my apartment complex. Very inconvenient !!

  • Phil Covert

Slow service and they never answer their phone. Also closed on Saturday. Terrible customers service.

  • Brett Franklin

Post officer was very kind, patient and helpful. The customers, not so much. Take a chill pill guys!
