"Hiding in the vast menu of pies"
"I wonder if the owner knows that the staff that are working in the morning, are not only rude, and leave people waiting whilst they speak to one another, but are encouraging toddlers to run around behind the counter? Twice I have witnessed a young mum trying to get out the door but the staff continuously calling the child back for treats"
"Tried the cauliflower and curry pie and it's so ridiculously good! The pecan and coffee tart was also nice but I keep thinking about that pie because it was just yummy"
"Upwey Bakery has been part of our daily routine for many years"
"Understated shop front of an excellent bakery"
Hiding in the vast menu of pies... Is a pie so good it don't need sauce, the only pie I'd ever say that about. You could use a super computer as a pie simulator and never best pie. This pie is so good it melts in your mouth before you even take a bite. I personally find with a lot of things in life that they diminish over time but this pie is like a tv built in the 70s just in 4k. I've been going there for years and getting this pie and every one is as good as the last. The boys out the back are truly the cornerstone of this bakery and in my opinion unsung heroes. I don't even want to say which pie it is for fear of demand increasing but I will say that it's obviously not your standard type and once you try it you'll know. I gave 5 stars, one for each excellent year of this pie being in my life.
I wonder if the owner knows that the staff that are working in the morning, are not only rude, and leave people waiting whilst they speak to one another, but are encouraging toddlers to run around behind the counter? Twice I have witnessed a young mum trying to get out the door but the staff continuously calling the child back for treats. The first time the younger of the two women picked the child up, touched his face, put him down and proceeded to serve someone without washing her hands or putting on gloves. The second time I actually witnessed them allow the (snotty) tot to touch all the cakes in the bottom row of the glass counter to tell them what he liked. He then picked up two bread rolls from the bottom of the rack which they returned to the rack to sell to unsuspecting customers.
Tried the cauliflower and curry pie and it's so ridiculously good! The pecan and coffee tart was also nice but I keep thinking about that pie because it was just yummy. I'm glad the veggie pie was out otherwise I wouldn't have been able to try it! I found the service really lovely and they were patient as I was uhmming and ahhing over their large selection of desserts. Quite a large place compared to the other one shop opposite of the street. It was only $8.70 for a veg pie with tomato sauce and a tart too!
Upwey Bakery has been part of our daily routine for many years. We like coffee, cold drinks, school lunches, breakfast pies, cakes, pastries and a nice bar to sit and look out the window. The staff are amazing and remember our regular orders as we walk in the door, they are already preparing our favourite meals.

Understated shop front of an excellent bakery. Very generous lamingtons (the biggest I've seen!), beautiful croissants, Danish pastries, vanilla slice, wonderful quiche... all for unexpectedly low prices. We found this bakery through an online search, hoping to try a new bakery during a lockdown. Then we ordered a whole smorgasbord of items to sample. We were very impressed and will be coming back!
Amazing service, amazing food, ammazing range. Consitency in food. Love their cakes. Love the apple cakes.

Aside from a a completely disinterest shop assistant who didn't listen to what I requested (gave me two pies instead of the three I asked for), one of the pies (potato) was poorly baked to the point that mashed potato had been spread on to a pastry lid resulting in the pastry lid being completely uncooked. Not bothering to go back again.
Fantastic bakery with the best jam iced donuts and chicken wraps which i often get on my way to work and i often buy their family pie to have with mash and veggies for dinner yum. The owners Ny and Kim are two of the nicest most hard working people you could meet. Do yourself a favour and give them a try you won't be disappointed.
This is the BEST and only bakery to go to in upwey. The salad roles are to dieeee for and I can’t wait to go again. Pies are scrumptious and the owner treats me like an angel. Every time I walk in, it’s like god wants me to be there. I can only get so aroused. I’m going to be a local guide soon so trust my opinion
I've been going to this bakery for years. Best bread ever - one of my faves is the dinner rolls ( of course with sesame seeds). Quality, value for money food, great selection of pies, pastries, salad rolls etc. But above all - lovely, genuine people who deserve the support of their local community.
Unbeatable. Our all time favourite bakery. The salad rolls are amazing, can't have one anywhere else now. My son loves the neenish tart, cinnamon donut, jam tarts, the cheeeese caaaake! Oh I can't list it all here. They are the loveliest people you will ever meet. You MUST visit this bakery!
Been getting lunch here every weekend for years and they never fail to disappoint! My current usual is a chicken and veg roll with wholemeal knot roll and a Bakewell tart for dessert I also love their chicken and veg pie, vegan cauliflower pie, veggie pastie, lamingtons, and doughnuts
I've had nothing but bad experiences here, the staff are rude and never smile or offer friendly costumer service and I was once argued with about my order after I had been over charged. I also walked into the store once and saw a staff member picking her nose and I left in disgust.
They have the tastiest range of pies EVER. There is the one pie in particular that is the BEST thing i've ever tasted. A person in a previous review mentioned said pie, and I definitely think I found the "secret" one they were talking about. 10/10 recommend!!!!!
Have been going here since primary school, and I'm coming in to my 6th year of being out of high school. Will not recommend this place enough. The two owners are lovely and always ask how my family are doing. Their food is amazing and the service is also.
Wonderful local bakery, full of tasty treats, pies and fresh rolls and bread. Highly recommend

Stock std takeaway type bakery but surprisingly tasty tarts & coffee. I did not try anything else though someone in my group had salad burger roll & said it was good. Limited seating outside on sidewalk.
Their bread is of good quality over a few varieties, and the broccoli and cauliflower pie is particularly good - with chunky pieces rather than a blended mash. Their Anzac biscuits are delicious too.
Easy to have a quick casual bite good service and friendly.

Best bakery in the area. Have always supported the local community. Great coffee, great salad rolls and the cakes are yummy too! The friendly service is second to none.
The attitude of the two young girls who served me was extremely uncalled for and rather disappointing. How am I meant to know the egg goes before the cheese? My bad.
Average small bakery. Good service and food.

Despite their popularity they have little regard for customer service, not very warm and welcoming. Good but not great coffee. Good but not great rolls.
Very friendly owners. A very small front of shop with kitchen behind. Upwey's original bakery with pies, rolls, cakes, bread, milk, hot and cold drinks.
The pies are Absolutly delicious. A very popular place and well known in the area. Friendly staff. A lovely place to sit down and have a cup of coffee.
Beautiful food and beverages, gorgeous staff, great service, well priced, and overall, just great experience. Highly recommend. Love it here.
The stand out here is the home made vanilla slice, one of the best in the Dandenongs.

Second best bakery in Upwey to use the name Upwey Village, I'm sure it's not to confuse the good people of Upwey.
I have been going to the Upwey Bakery since the 1970's they are very friendly and they make nice yummy cakes.
Oooo where shall I begin, wonderful pastries, really filled myself up, love grabbing a cuppa with my friends
Amazing service! Best pies I have ever tasted in my life. The handsome barista makes great coffee
Owners are amazing and pies are awesome, I drive 3 suburbs to get a pie and its worth ever bite
The only bakery i got to, friendly and bread, pies, cakes are all delicious! #supportlocal
