I go to this movie theater all of the time, at least once a month. The experience is always great, they have comfy spacious recliner chairs, reserved seating, a lot of movie availability and one of my favorite is they show Ghibli films! Despite how often I go there, I’ve never written a review until my recent movie outing. I went to see Spider-Man far from home, the moment I got to my seat I realized the seats did not recline, which at this point is essential to my movie experience. I immediately approached an AMC staff member and explained the situation and he already had an idea of what the issue is. He explained to me the seat may be disconnected so he can have someone check it out or he could offer us another movie. I choose to have someone come take a look at the seat. He radioed someone and let me know they’d be there shortly. By the time I got back to my seat, there was already someone there working on my seat. Within 2 minutes it was fixed and my seat was reclining again. Now, that’s definitely what I consider great custom service which is why I am writing this review. This place is awesome, the people are awesome and the experience is awesome. ADDITIONALLY: the food is pretty good too! I often get the pepperoni flatbread. It doesn’t last long but it’s tasty!

We purchased tickets in advance only to be kicked out without prior warning because they changed theaters where the movie was showing that was not large enough to accommodate all of the ticket holders. We did not learn this immediately because the employee checking tickets sent us to the new theater to sit in a row that did not exist. When we returned to ask what was going on we were sent on a wild goose chase to the original theater where a different movie was playing. Returning once more, the employee insisted that we should return to that theater and that the movie was probably about to finish, despite the time being past when our movie should have started. It was not until we asked another employee that we were informed of the change and that we were, for lack of a better term s*** out of luck. I do not understand how a business can completely disregard a prior purchase. A theater has very clear capacity and reservation of seats. It should be impossible to overbook in this sense. To paraphrase Seinfeld, the value in the reservation is in holding the reservation not just in taking it!!!!!

Little to no staff or customer service. Had to look for someone to direct me to the IMAX theater. The snack bar is very limited. Tickets are distributed on computer kiosks. Even getting a soda requires a trial and error computerized delivery system. No staff directing seating. There was a totally unmanaged stampede to get seated. No wonder people prefer streaming. If I weren't going to IMAX I would never go here. FYI the IMAX theater has no leg room and is quite uncomfortable. Also the screen is smaller than other IMAX theaters. For me, not worth going deaf from the way, way to loud sound system. I would like to see better 'human' staffing and service, a serious snack area with seating, and benches for people waiting to enter theaters. People were sitting on floors eating and waiting to enter theaters. There is no seating anywhere in this huge complex which is totally inappropriate. If you're an older person or physically compromised. You will have a problem.

Watched two movies in a day. NO AC the first movie; broken chair the second one, and the lousy manager didn’t want to move us but said “we will send someone to come and fix it.” Someone came just BEFORE THE MOVIE STARTED, and the theatre was pretty empty. We were asked to STAND ASIDE while he tried to fix the chairs in the middle of the movie. Twenty minutes later, the guys he can’t fix it and asked us to look for someone for free vouchers after the movie. So we sat ourselves in two of the MANY empty seats. They rather make our lives miserable than moving us, and fix the chair later. NO ONE wants to be disturbed having a their chair fixed while watching a movie. After the movie, there was no one to be found in the whole cinema. It seems that losing a lot of money being a stockholder of AMC isn’t painful enough. Avoid this theater at all cost, or just go to REGAL and other theaters, such as ALAMO.

The seats are falling apart, the leather covers are halfway off the seat, carpet is dirty, greedy owners raised prices, no customer service by phone. Good movies keep being placed in really small auditoriums (on 32nd St - Kips Bay) that are too close to the movie screen! All Auditoriums should All go to at least letter ‘H’ or ‘I’. I dont go to much smaller auditoriums to watch their movies. It makes me dizzy especially when there’s moving action. I missed a good movie- Boogeyman just because I cant go into those much smaller auditoriums that ARE TOO CLOSE TO THE SCREEN! We need another new movie theater to open up on east side in the 20’s of Manhattan who has customer service by phone, tickets are affordable, it’s cleaner, And They Dont Place Good Movies in MUCH SMALLER AUDITORIUMS that ARE TOO CLOSE TO THE SCREEN AND CANT BE WATCHED!

It was a Tuesday night when I decided to come to this spot to watch The Invitation... again (to see the dreamy guy). I walked to this nice, big theater after learning that my flick would be playing in the evening. It was my first time there and I enjoyed my experience. The rows & seats were clearly labeled so finding your place wasn't complicated. The rooms had comfy, reclining chairs. As I sat, I couldn't see the other patrons on the upper rows without standing to get a good look; that was cool for privacy and distancing. There was no line in the ladies room but one had to be careful since some stalls had no paper. Movie sound & picture were great. I recommend this movie theater for a friendly outing or date night. I'll be back.

review of cinema: It's ok. They have on two occasions made pretty big mistakes like showing the dubbed version of a movie when it was supposed to be subbed or simply forgetting to turn our movie on for 45 minutes. review of AMC: Terrible company. Pay for a-list and watch them steal your credits for no reason, lie about refunding you your credits when you have to reschedule, refuse to answer phone calls, and ignore your customer service requests. I won't ever spend another dime at an AMC and, unfortunately, this cinema will suffer for being a member of a poorly run corporation which mistreats its own customers and commits outright fraud by claiming to refund your credits while not actually doing it.

The movie was great even people don't respect your seats. But the worst is the service, food and customer service. Food is awful. We place an order for pick up at 10:20pm. We were standing in front of the pick up area for 10 min. It was until I went to the other side to ask the cashier if she could help. Nachos cold and salty, chicken combo salty, you couldn't even eat it. The soda dispenser and ices dirty. Don't even look were the plastic covers for the drinks are. Our almost 50 dlls went to the garbage, even the popcorn was extremely salty. Employees in that place don't care about customers.

  • Lauren M

This theater has great and comfortable seats. They've got the coke machines that you select your flavor and fill your cup. They just added the virtual reality in the lobby that was once empty which is cool to try out. My only complaints with this theater are 1.) there never seems to not be enough people working the concessions stand so there's usually a line plus the popcorn is never that great and 2.) a few times I've been here the movies are always extremely loud... like way to painfully loud. Other than that- great theater with great seats.

  • Alan Varghese

Large theatre (15 screens, including IMAX laser), with clean toilets, a good number of restaurants/eateries close by that are open after 10 pm, helpful and courteous staff, 6+ movies being played everyday. Popcorn, pizza and other snack/dinner options and drinks at acceptable prices. Getting stubs A-list is a good way to save money here for tickets and food. There is also public transport close by (multiple bus stops under 3 minutes and subway 10 minutes away). They also have multiple kiosks and a few staff at the counter.

  • Aldo Rendon

This theater is gonna HEAR from me. I visited this theater for The Super Mario’s Bros. Movie and other past movies. My experience was always great ! no issue. I love this theater. The staff is welcoming & friendly towards me. I got theater 14, Open Caption screen, down in the basement & the recliner seats were comfy & cozy ! hopefully clean too… lol. The bathrooms are close by to each theater. I would recommend this theater to friends or for yourself. Very cozy & not too many people.

Ticket bought on AMC website/app don't work Staff unable to scan smartphone tickets Two old scanning ladies unfriendly and unable to communicate in English Movie reassigned from theatre 15 to theatre 9 which changed our seats from last row to first row Unable to see screen from first row: these seats shouldn't be sold at old. There are not functional and worth nothing. Telemarketers canvassing in foyer of theatre Complaining with Better Business Bureau. Trying to get full refund.

  • yexi Liang

it is a big cinema, and it offer different kind of seats which it includes reclined seat and love seats. it has 15 screens, so there are a lot of movie show time. Some auditoriums are small, so check if there are some seats available before you go, especially you are going to watch a popular movie. i have to use wheel chair companion today. for small auditorium, rear rows are highly recommendation. i cannot watch the hold screen easily when i was sitting in the middle.

Unlike most AMCs in Manhattan, this great movie theater is tucked away on Second Avenue away from major transit hubs that bring masses of people to them. The theater is divided into an upper and lower section both with concession stands and restrooms. All the theaters have the signature AMC red recliners and the sound and picture quality are great. Only downside is this AMC does not have as many premium formats as you would find at the theaters at 34th or Time Square.

  • Seth J. Grossman

I remember when this theater first opened - and it has lost some of its luster. The movie billboards on the outside of the building are faded, and the escalator wasn't working when I was there. But, the movie theaters themselves are still pretty great. They have the individual reclining chairs which are very comfortable and roomy, and the sound and picture are still pretty great. Overall, still a good theater of you are in the area and want to catch a flick!

  • Daniel Cohen

Went to a 9am showing of Barbie today and when I showed up, the whole theater was locked. The whole crowd waited outside until 9:15 when we were told their manager never showed up and the AM movies were cancelled. They then offered for refunds if people waited 15 minutes and lined up for them. Like many others, I left, hoping I would automatically be refunded. AMC has yet to refund me despite not offering me the service they promised.

  • Andrew H Goldberg

Exceeded my expectations. It has been over 20 years since I have seen a movie at this multiplex. I liked it then, now I love this place. Small stadium like, but two intimate to be called stadium seating. I personally prefer not to have food servers in a theater. Just comfortable, really comfortable seats. A big screen and superb sound. Kips Bay delivers and I am so glad to become reacquainted with this better than excellent theater.

  • Renee NA (R.)

My partner and I were there this past Friday night for the showing of the Little Mermaid. This AMC is big and was pretty clean. The power seemed to be out in our seats so we were unable to recline. That being said upon alerting the ticketing staff downstairs they were able to have another staff member reboot our seats just in time for the start of the film. All in all it was an enjoyable movie going experience.

  • Wendy Rivas

This theater is far away from me, but I am willing to travel. They always have space to watch the movies at, not like the others ones that get sold out. It’s very clean. I come here a lot and the only thing I have to complain about is that they either run out of the pretzel bites or their drink machines are out of order and you have to go 2 floors up to get some. Other than that this theater is great.

  • Nick Kogkas

Overall a great theater! The reclining seats are probably the best I’ve come across so far in any auditorium! The bathrooms are super clean the staff is friendly and it seems like a very quiet place when you can really get into the movies. The location helps too , it’s not as crowded as other theaters around the city! They will be renovating IMAX theater soon so that is a huge bonus !

  • Crystal Howze

This is my main theater I go to in New York City. I can always get a nice seat here and the theaters are large in space. I love the opera seats, I think that's the best view to watch a movie. The adjustable seats are comfy, the workers are nice, the food choices are expanding (delicious food and free refills in drinks). I can't complain about this place. Even the bathroom is nice.

  • cdtz82

A mid sized AMC cinema, and the studios were ok. The seats can be improved, because the seat N6 in hall 10 was wonky. The caramel popcorn is good. However, I wouldn't recommend the jalapeno cheese pretzel because they were too doughy, almost no cheese inside. I used the ranch sauce to eat the pretzels. I was disappointed with the low quality pretzels, which were quite expensive.

  • Wenjoo Shee

This movie theater is top-notch! The screen and sound quality are exceptional, providing an immersive cinematic experience. The seating is comfortable, and the snack options are fantastic. The staff is always helpful and friendly, creating a welcoming environment. Whether it's the latest blockbusters or classic films, this theater is my go-to choice for a movie night out.

  • Daisy Taylor

Very clean and beautiful cinema with a great selection of options for drinks and hot and cold food at reasonable prices. Lovely staff who were very helpful. Incredibly comfortable luxurious seating in a theatre with excellent sound and amazing picture quality. My only note would be to perhaps add a sign inside the elevator to indicate which screens are on which floor.

  • Jessica

The chairs were comfortable and there was space throughout the theatre. The staff at the front was pretty rude because as we entered and gave her our ticket, she ripped it haphazardly and seemed to think as if we were a nuisance. The tickets were also very bad as it wasn’t actually a thick “board” type of ticket you would imagine but a tiny flimsy piece of paper.

  • James Bradley

Dirty theater. Most seats are ripped and don't recline. Trash is always over-flowing. Popcorn is old and burnt. Only perk is the wine and beer, which are both sold at reasonable prices. Disclaimer, I haven't tried their IMAX screening, but don't expect much. Plus, nearby is AMC Lowes which is the only True IMAX theater in NYC). I would avoid if possible.

  • Yadira Pagan

Was kind of disappointed with this place. They do have reclining seats but the are standard size. I've been to theaters (out of state) where the reclining seats are spacious and there is room between you and the person next to you. Soda machine was out of almost every kind of soda except Coke. Popcorn was stale and the women's restroom floor was a mess.

  • Ken “Kendonis” Breese

Under the radar winner. This spot can feel off the beaten track which makes it a the rarest of gems; an nyc movie theater that isn’t always super packed. They have a great concessions set up, if you’re into that, and fantastic murals of classic film characters. The theaters are quite good & have high quality options. Definitely check it out.

  • Edna Villarreal

The theater is always clean. Recliners with cup holders are a plus . We like to go online ahead and purchase tickets and select seating. The sound and picture quality is great. They have a snack bar with flatbread options and popcorn and candy snacks and fill your own soda fountain. We travel from Queens because it's that nice.

  • Oscar gonzalez

Watching the movie in this type of environment was absolutely amazing. The reclining chairs really had a major impact on my kids and I enjoyed it as well. The matinee was also very good experience. I really enjoyed going to see a movie nice nearly in the morning. Popcorn still tasted good. Sms the prices were very reasonable.

  • Tin

I have been there a few times so far and I love recliners better than ones at 34th AMC. It can be adjusted to lean back like 150 degrees so you may be okay even in the first row although I'd not want to try it. it doesn't have seat warmers which 34th AMC has. Overall I love it. It seems more chill and less busy than 34th AMC.

  • Christopher Ellis

The theater is a little rough around the edges and the price of concessions are reaching unbelievably pricy but the AMC pass itself is a steal and the screens are large here so it's my go to spot in the city. AMC Lincoln Square is definitely a better theater, but it also sells out more quickly, so the Kips Bay is a great #2.

  • Ingrid

Two stars because people with disabilities are not accommodated in this venue. There was a man who tried to see a movie and he was in a wheelchair but amc’s elevator was out of service. I mean what kind of service is that? Especially on such a big movie weekend with Barbie and Oppenheimer. Really broke my heart.

  • Martha Henderson

We love the Kips Bay 15 Theater. Its our favorite NYC chain theater. Food is always fresh. Always an eclectic group of films. Good time schedules. Lovely, warm helpful employees. One latish night, toilet paper was running out. We asked for help and within 5 minutes had maintenance cleaning etc. Great theater

  • RICHARD A CLINKSCALES

A bit over priced when I'm a regal regular. But the recline seat and food service is very exceptional. I will return if you don't go to the movies on a regular I'll give u a heads up . One soda will be enough for 2 people And also the popcorn . No need to over spend especially if you are going as a couple .

  • M Atienzasis

post-pandemic improvement! systemic entrance, ticket ushers, stairs, escalators and elevators available, clean restrooms with updated touchless soap dispenser, $12+ for small popcorn and smart water, large recliner seats, adequate distance from screen, excellent acoustics. exact time of presentation

  • David Stewart

We booked a 9am showtime and made an early trek out to see Barbie. It's 9:15am, the theater isn't open yet, there's a large crowd outside the theater, and there's nobody inside. Very disappointed in the experience. They ended up canceling the showings with a "sorry, we messed up" and that was it

  • alwaysarcastic**

I’ve been there over a dozen times and it’s pretty sweet. The recliners are comfortable. Food was decent. Did not get a popcorn. Just cheese nachos. Make sure you’re seeing an action film otherwise if the theater room next to your has a lot of action sounds, you’ll hear it through the walls.

  • Marc Cohen

Projector was out for 15 minutes while the movie still played ruining most of the end. No follow up or compensation administered after the promise from staff that accommodations will be made. Everybody asked for the movie to be paused when fixing technical issues as it should have been.

  • Patrice S.

Went to see "Sound of freedom" this past weekend and the theater they sat us in conviently had no air conditioning. Temps felt like 85 degrees. It was hotter than outside. In all my years of attending AMC or any theater, I have never experienced this kind of discomfort. 0/10 experience

  • Jim F

Great theater with 15 screens. Super helpful staff, seems like they only hire the best. But people, clean up after you leave. Sometimes I get embarrassed at how much other guests leave a mess and expect that someone else has to clean. But I've never heard staff complain once. Kudos.

  • Britney Canales

Alvina is the wonderful staff member that helped me and my mother, She was so helpful and very nice. She helped us with out stubs account and had a welcoming attitude . Alvinas costumer service was 100% the best ever . I will be returning to AMC because of her great attitude!

  • Sallie Jackson

The theater was wonderful. The staff were helpful and courteous. Wish they could do something about parking. I got a $65 ticket for being 10 minutes late. Had the movie i went to see played in Yonkers, i would have gone there instead. Otherwise, the theater was excellent.

  • Elvis Mrkulic

My wife and I went to watch sound of freedom and ended up sweating the entire duration of the movie, which was 2.5 hours. There was no AC at all and it was one of the most humid days in NYC. Completely unacceptable. AMC needs to rectify this if they want repeat customers.

  • Kiran

I don't know about other screens but screen 8 has good recliner. The problem is movies are not projected on entire screen like empire 25 or 34th Street it falls short on all four sides of the screen, and coming to the sound it's not effective compared to other AMC'S.

  • Лиза Лавринюк

I WILL NEVER COME BACK!!!!!!!! Complete disappointment. This is the first time this has happened to me. I usually don’t leave reviews, I just can’t remain silent here. Service is bad! Employees treat their visitors with disrespect! They kicked us out for no reason!

  • Brendan Donohue

One of my favorite theaters in New York. I go frequently because of the big screens, and as an AMC a-lister, I’m often there. Easy to sneak in beer and in always stoned off my gourd. Don’t think I’ve ever been in this building without being high as heck

  • Geraldine Marin Luna

Went and watched the new Hunger Games. The reclinable chairs were really comfy ( the only down side is that it was too close to the wall so we couldn’t recline more back ). I love that you are actually able to see them making the popcorn.

  • Adriana Lucia

I purchased a ticket plus food and drink online so that the food is delivered to my seat at 9.15 for an extra fee. I get early, it’s 935 and my stuff doesn’t come, the movie starts, I get out to see what happens with my order, I get to

  • Dr.T G

Renovated theater w/leather recliner seats. Be sure to elevate your legs. A few theaters have mice (8&9 on 6/16/19). Three floors - enter & purchase tickets on main floor, theaters 1-10 upstairs, theaters 11+ downstairs. Restrooms and

  • Jasmine Von Rock

My favorite neighborhood theater!!! They do a great job at keeping the theater clean. The staff is always friendly and nice. NEW BONUS, this location now serves alcohol so you can enjoy a drink with your favorite theater snacks.

  • S S

Went to see Across The Spiderverse and it was an amazing experience. The seats are comfortable, the popcorn had just the perfect amount of butter and salt. Bathroom was clean. Customer service was great from start to finish.

  • Avery Liao-Troth

great theatre and good selection of movies. limited snack options and almost no candy options. a very classic movie theater, not like all the new ones (cinepolis) that have lots of food options and reclining/heated seats.

  • Freddy Oquendo

Bought 6 tickets to a 10 pm screening , drove 40 to be surprised by a theatre closed sign. No refund issued yet , no email to contact. An email or a warning of a theatre closed on the app would’ve been appreciated

  • Irina Louw

First time going to this theatre and I was pleasantly surprised with how spacious it is compared to other theaters. I really loved it, comfy seats, speedy service, clean bathrooms - great theater overall.

  • Bridget Coolick

This is a great theater. They usually have a wide variety of movies and times. The huge screens and recliner seats make for a great movie experience! Plus the iMax Virtual Reality is a fun added activity.

  • Meagan Ruan

My go-to theater only because not a lot of people come here. I rated it 4/5 stars because there are multiple instances where the seats were broken/malfunctioned and I was not able to recline it.

  • Night2hadow

My go to for new movie releases, love the recliners. Would get a 5 star but a few times the theatre had movie quality issues such as flickering and at one time the theatre had a blackout for 5m.

  • Derek Villorente

This is a very large and clean movie theater. They also offer VR movie experience. However, I did not use the VR so I cant rate it. I saw Dunkirk in IMAX and the sound and screen was awsome.

  • ssjmichael

One of my favorite theaters in the city. Nice lobby, and usually good crowds. Nice comfy recliner chairs as well. Their screen sizes could be bigger, but still a great place to see a film..

  • Andrew Kolar

The downstairs area is not as nice, a couple of seats had rips and tears in the cushions, and the water fountains are all turned off. I know the movie industry is dying but come on people.

  • Dylan Knox

Rude staff, arbitrary rules around alcohol purchases, and it’s a gamble if the movie will be formatted for the screen correctly. Used to be a great theater, now it’s just a disappointment.

  • Kaye Waul

Clean and spacious theater. Only thing is the only good option was popcorn. I'm not sure if they ran low that one day or it's permanent, but to be on the safe side, just bring snacks

  • Meggie Wang

I have seen 3 different movies at this place now and the recliner chairs definitely make it a very pleasant experience. Had the caramel corn once and it also was good.

  • Owen Foster

Good theatre, but staff is not helpful. If you drop something in the theatre, consider it sold on the black market and don't spend time thinking twice. Sad!

  • Emily

Prices for snacks are *slightly* better than regal but theaters have big reclining seats. Theater had less seats and was more spaced out. Overall good spot

  • Salvador Dominguez

love this theater over all the AMC in NY as they are not that close to the subway. if you want to have a nice experience and you should try this one.

  • Howie K

Seats are great and recline almost flat. Food was decent but oddly located downstairs and dearly priced. A bit loud and could of used ear plugs!

  • Chelsea Flores

Matthew was great & really nice & patient! He was by himself holding down a whole line & was really chill about it. He deserves a raise.

  • Bryant Guzman

Saw Jurassic Park 3D here and i'd say for regular standard movie viewing Kips Bay is for sure the go to. Theatre is well kept as well.

  • Ariel G

Not the greatest in terms of cleanliness and service but has a good amount of theaters and is easy to go on any given night.

  • Sai Pardhu

The sound system is obnoxiously too loud for a small movie hall. It got to a point where we couldn’t enjoy the movie itself

  • Jasmine Taher

My go to movie theater. Popcorn is sometimes stale which is so annoying. But nonetheless, it’s a good movie theater.

  • venkatesh kadiyala

Nicer theater around the area. Recliners are comfortable. Did not try the VR yet, but should definitely try it soon.

  • Alex Nicaise

Very clean movie theatre. Wasn’t overcrowded, and the video quality was great as well. Solid place to see any film.

  • Paola Barjas

My favorite movie theater so far. Great theatre. Very friendly stuff, comfortable seats and super clean. Love it.

  • Sarah Henry

This is our go to for any movie! My son are there at least once a week. Staff is great and it’s always clean

  • C H

The theater was clean. The customer service was good. And the kettle corn was great lol! I will be back

  • Allie Klein

They have the comfy seats in every theater, unlike the one in Lincoln Center that I used to go to.

  • Violette Ospol

Friendly and attentive staff, clean seats and restrooms, this is everything you need from cinema.

  • Ann Kim

Overall good movie going experience. The seats were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean :)

  • Sritam Rout

Cheaper than new york standards and a great theater. The price of water is insanely expensive.

  • Gregory Shepherd

Recliner seats. Safe and clean facility. Decent staff. Generally the patrons are cool too.

  • Navin Pasari

Nice clean movie halls, great seats. Just wish the water fountains would work!

  • Greg Welsh

My go to for years. Don't get a rowdy crowd like 42nd Street and Union Square.

  • Paulette M Atkins

Late post! We went to see Transformers! Nice theatre! Awesome movie!!! Thanks!

  • Shivani

Love this theatre and it's recliner seats. Watched a ton of movies here.

  • Taha Sorangwala

Nice movie experience, clean theater hall and decent enough washrooms

  • Tyler Huang

They declined our tickets then refunded us $7 per ticket

  • Margie Nix

Calm environment clean theater. We visit often.
