solid movie theater to catch a mainstream movies in the East Village. there are multiple theaters on each floor and the ones i have seen movies in are a bit on the smaller side versus a suburban multiplex…however they are well-maintained and relatively clean. in terms of watching movies, there are no bad viewing seats in the way these theaters are set up…even sitting in the front row isn’t tawful bc of the comfy reclining seats and how far they lean/recline back. concessions are on the street level—thought the popcorn was a little dry the last time I was here but whatever. this theater is super vertical so be prepared to take escalator upon escalator to get to the upper theaters. staff are helpful—had an issue with one ticket in purchased and they took care of it fairly quickly. downloading the AMC app is a pro move bc of its reward benefits if you are a frequent moviegoer or just want the convenience of pre purchasing your tickets and food ahead of time
I love this theater my only issue is the the available movies are very limited but every theater has red leather reclining seats although the control for the reclining is on the inside which your hip may accidentally hit which is very annoying they have the main concession stand downstairs before you enter with your ticket then on each floor that has a theater they have a drink station the only problem I could think of is the bathrooms and theaters alternate floors but there is definitely plenty of bathrooms and they are small but cozy there is also huge waiting areas with benches and outlets to charge your phone while waiting if you please they have working escalators and an elevator also pretty good views too on the top floor overall I think it's a great experience!
I love this spot for movie night! Reserved seating for the cozy + intimate theaters with fully reclinable, comfy leather seating. The double pod seating on the side along the aisles is great for two - It's like your private (movie) cabana. The screen is great viewing just about anywhere even though I never book the front seats. Opening weekend movies sell out quick here, and so do corresponding concession stand promotion sets + combos. Went the Saturday of an opening, and they were already sold out. In general, the concession could do better. They always seem to be out of things. Also, this is not an Ipic, so don't expect service to your seats, a full dinner menu, or alcoholic drinks, but that doesn't stop it from being a great movie venue.
We were in the area for an event & wanted to watch the Guardians of the Galaxy & this was the nearest one. Considering the 42nd one this AMC is quite small. I liked the view of the street from upstairs a lot. Most of the area is clean, decor is ok. Bathrooms are small & clean. The service was good. The theater was decent size, the seats were all sold out . That's a first after a long time , so we end up on the front row lol..! First time for everything! Seats were reclining so that helped . Or else I am pretty sure my neck would’ve been in pain. Btw the person next to me was complaining that his seat is broken, so they gotta fix stuff too. The movie was really good. We enjoyed a lot!
They really should work on their sound system. I just watched Oppenheimer with my Airpods on to block the loud sound. The voice volume was so high that it could damage your hearing. Also, I watched the movie with subtitles because I personally like subtitles but some people watch with subtitles because they have hearing problems, so imagine someone who’s having trouble with hearing leaves the movie with more damage! I’m not kidding I had to cover my ears from the sound effects. I understand that this movie in particular might be extreme but the theater should know this and do something about it. Also, I paid $17 for old popcorn and sweet tea that was way too sweet.
They have two advantages. They offer more reclined seats than other amc theater, such as amc 6. Of course, the auditorium offer a larger screen. But they don't offer as many movie playtime as amc 25. I will prefer this theater if both AMC 25 and this theater have the movie I want to watch. The only reason I give 4 stars is their purchase system. When I purchase movie ticket on self service machine, it show most seats reserved, but only half of all seats reserved actually. Some people pick disabled seats in this case. If you see this situation, you had better ask to confirm if all seats are reserved. Because it is hard to believe all seats are sold.
This theater ticks most baseline needs for a movie house. It has friendly staff, recliner seats, ease to get tickets, concession stand, convenient location in between two subway stations, plenty of street parking (especially after 7pm), lots of dining options around the area and the cinema is modestly clean. Why I took 2 stars is because this has to be the worst picture quality among amc theaters in the city. The projection is soo dark! What good is a movie theater if it has bad picture quality. Also the bathroom is in the mezzanine level of sorts so it took some getting used to and they like to keep the room temp toasty but thats just me.
A PRICEY but modern, multi-level cinema (7 stories) with reserved movie theater recliners. At our visit, they previewed future movies for almost 40 minutes prior to finally showing featured movie. Way too long and boring... the sound and volume was fine compared to other competing movie theaters which are usually too loud. Snacks and drinks are also very expensive! My date and I spent almost $75.00 just for regular tickets, mandatory IN-CONVENIENCE fee (sarcasm), nachos / tortillas combo, small popcorn and large drink... NYC crazy!!! The movie we watched, OCEANS 8, wasn't showing elsewhere.
Was my favorite one until had a bad experience with the blonde guy manager, i got a reservation by online, pick up my ticket and couldn’t find the room, so try to find help from some staff, they didn’t know what’s state i should go but they was nice and friendly, until the manager came and told me i got the tickets of wrong day without double check my order and kick me out when i just try to thought out the whole popcorn to the garbage i buy for nothing, was super rude, btw, i check my email and the ticket was bought on the correct day but the ticket print out with no date or state
Really nice and large theatre located conveniently in the village and very accessible via the L train and other subway lines. The theatre is 7 floors and since I attended a matinee it made sense that they chose this time to make repairs to the escalators. The theatre was mostly empty but all the employees I interacted with were very sweet and kind the whole way through. There are very convenient freestyle coke machines located on each floor that has a theatre so you don't need to lug your drinks up 7 floors. Theatre was clean, sound was good, and overall a good experience!
This AMC is very beautiful. The inside is very clean and has a serene sorta atmosphere. There are several floors, with elevators and escalators to help make the trips up and down easier. They offer free refills on drinks and the variety of the beverages they offer is pretty food. They even have slushies. Plus, the prices for the food isnt as outrageous as some other theaters. My favorite party is that the inside of the theaters are very spacious and have these reclining seats that you can rest on (almost like a bed). This make the movie experience much more comfortable.
Used to go to this location very regularly, but the small number of screens typically (but not always) necessitates going elsewhere if you're looking for showtimes for anything indie, foreign, or otherwise less popular. None of the screens are IMAX or Dolby as well. The interior is nice, and the screening rooms are small and intimate with cozy, reclining seats. The small screening rooms have their drawbacks, however, as it can take away from the spectacle of some larger, grandiose films like Avatar.
Skip the weekend crowds and enjoy this theater on a weekday, it's wonderful! The reclining seats make movie watching very comfortable. Disability friendly too - helpful counter person offered a device for my visually impaired companion, and discovered there are recliners that have space to the side for wheelchairs. The only thing I regret is how crazy expensive popcorn and other concessions are, but that's typical. At least they have a nice variety!
Better get a bit front row seats rather then upper or middle. May be 3 rows down from the screen. Too busy, congested and not worth the price. At least the the theater 2 was not good. it’s basically flat theater, because of that front row seats and people will obstruct the view of back seats. Weekend ticket price is 18.99. I would prefer AMC kips bay 15 over it. It’s 16.99 there and it offers much better recliners and screens.
Its a nice smaller AMC not too far from Union Sq. With a little more maintenance, it would rank up there with my fav AMC spots in the city. I was in Theater 7 which was at the top floor and some of the escalators weren't in service. The seats were great and had lots of space between the aisles, making passing through a lot easier than in other locations. My recliner wasn't working, though. I was in seat E1.
I’ve had fine movie experiences here but the food, drinks, and other concessions are way over priced. When are we going to stop letting these type of places (movies, amusement parks, airports, etc…) overcharge us for food and drink? Just because we are out treating ourselves to an entertainment experience, doesn’t mean that they have the right to mark up goods by 200% - it’s predatory and unnecessary.
One of our top 5 choices of AMCs that we visit in Manhattan. We have many to choose from and not many are far but one thing I love about this theater is the seats! They recline and give you so much space to spread out. The middle armrest can even go up if you are with someone and want more room together. Never jam packed due to limited seating so I would advise buy tickets ahead!
Why is half the unbound escalator always out of service it feels like ut has bee. That way for years. My big issue is let people know from they take tickets. It is really difficult if you have issues either walking up or down stairs and uou are not aware till you are already on your way up and encounter that issue. Other than that the theater was clean and well provisioned
This is my favorite AMC theater located on East 11th Street And 3rd Avenue, great recliner chairs, but it is not the most spacious, of all AMC theaters in New York City this is like a small center, with a few Auditoriums, but you will still love it, those chairs are so comfortable you might fall asleep during the movie, lol, very clean place, friendly staff.
Enjoyed the comfort of the reclining seat. Clean theater. Not sure why there aren't bathrooms on every floor? It's not that big of a deal, just come early in case you need to empty your bladder before the movie starts. Concession stand is small. They don't serve chicken tenders. There are soda machines on pretty much every floor for free refills.
Typical AMC recliner-into-bed chairs (recently renovated). Close to good places to meet before the show or go after. bathroom note for men: 1-2 theaters per floor. So up or down a floor to smaller-than-average AMC bathrooms. And long lines after major releases let out. Folks with small bladders: this is one of the worst options in the area.
Very clean and modern theater with reclining pleather loveseats and assigned seating (selected at time of ticket purchase). The front row ended up being way too close to the screen, but we were granted a refund, no questions asked. Excellent customer service and the most luxurious seating I've seen in a regular movie theater. Will definitely come back.
Average theater. With plush seats that are broken quite often. Today mine was lopsided. I purchased a large gourmet popcorn and asked for some regular along with the cheese and Carmel because I don't like Carmel that much. They said no, I could only chose two types. Which amazes me because i already paid top dollar for popcorn. I was flabbergasted.
So far this is the most comfortable and organized movie theater I've been in. My friend and I went to see The Woman King, and everything was so convenient. The seats were large recliners with cup holders. The bathrooms were easily located and the entrance process was simple. This theater is now our go to place for movies in the heart of Manhattan.
Nice and friendly staff, I felt welcomed from the moment I entered. They showed my friend and I, the way to the correct section since it was our first time at this location. They also informed us about the discounts and we were able to save money. On top of everything they made us laugh throughout. I do recommend this nice place to watch movies.
I ran into this establishment dyinggggg to use the bathroom in my nurse uniform and the old lady at the front told me I had to buy a ticket! Another female to a female, and she really denied me of bathroom privileges after being an AMC Stubbs member for years! Black people always have to be against each other it’s a shame! She’s a disgrace
Horrible Place. To start of the theaters are very cold which makes it very hard to stay focused. Secondly, I had lost my phone in one of the theaters, and the staff where of no help in searching it. So overall a bad place, just go somewhere else. Although I’ll give it something, the old lady in the front was very nice.
Horrible place! Food is cold & rotten, there isn't rest rooms on every floor, seats are too close together. Then the tickets are overpriced as well including the food. This place is overall very ghetto! I would never go back to this place! If you like this place clearly you never been to a good movie theater before.
There was a small spot on the screen when I went to see barbie but the seats and sound were perfect the concession area was clean and so were the men's bathroom they have a refill station for beverages on the 3rd floor so you don't have to go far overall was a nice experience and would goto this theater again
I believe the was clean not over crowded. The seats were replaced with leather and recline to wear you are comfortable and don't fall asleep. Theater is spacious, staff is helpful, courteous and ready to help you enjoy your time with the movie. Definitely will have to come back again soon. …
Went to see Godzilla Minus One and all I heard was the Beyonce film next door or above/below us the entirety of the movie. The bass rattled the theater throughout the entire film. Easily the worst experience I've ever had in a theater. The bass blasting through the walls were louder than Godzilla's roars.
Had to go up seven flights to get to my theater. Escalators weren’t consistently working in either direction. Men’s bathroom was cramped, wet, and disgusting. Popcorn was stale and the actual projector screen had dents and distortion that made a section of the screen lighter than the rest of the picture.
Very clean especially during the pandemic, fair prices for tickets & food (the food has always been good) & a friendly/helpful staff. The only downside is each time I've come here ( maybe five times so far) the escalators going down never seem to work so its definitely not physical disability friendly.
This theatre is straight to the point. Clean, never really overly crowded and has helpful staff. The seats are leather and recline fully back so don’t fall asleep! You will be tempted. Its a comfortable walk to the train and they have your regular movie snacks. I will definitely come back.
It's a small movie theater but it's pretty relaxed and away from the heavy crowds besides being relatively close to Union Square. Saw Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with two of my friends and it ended up being a nice time. Highly suggest buying your tickets online for a smooth process.
Not the best theater experience in Manhattan. Impaired mobility visitors may find it difficult to navigate the theater's interior, as there are no down escalator upon entry. Lack of staff assistance on elevators and limited concession menu. Relocating to an uptown theater, recommended.
Quiet small movie theater with bare bones service. Nice workers, pretty clean. Free refillable self service machines. Comfortable reclining chairs. Plenry armchair space, never fight for the armrest with your neighbor again. Popcorn is fresh and butter is always hot. Love the movies!
Taylor swift movie BLASTING so loud it could be heard throughout the whole 3.5 hour Martin Scorsese movie. My chair was shaking from the bass of the eras movie, it completely ruined the movie experience! We complained and the staff seemed to not want to do anything about.
Theater staff are friendly and helpful. On busy nights they maintain a steady flow of good customer service. Bathrooms are not horrible but can be kept up a bit more. Soda machine areas for some reason are always a bit messy. Other than that great place for movie goer's.
Cool place to watch a movie and if you’re into the Devil’s lettuce, this is the area to be in to find a on street vendor nearby :) Good amenities and you feel safe overall. The sears are run of the mill theater and cleanliness is good in the bathroom which is a plus.
I haven't been to a movie theater since 2017. It was an absolute joy to go. The staff was amazing with their fantastic costumer service. The place was so clean including the restrooms. The seats were great and so comfortable. My family and I had a wonderful time.
I would recommend this water bottle! It is pretty easy to carrying it around. However the color is really different from the ones I saw online. I was hoping to get the hot pink color but it came out to be more close to light pink. But I would still recommend it!
The theater I was in was right next to another theater that was showing the Taylor Swift movie. The sound and music from the Taylor Swift movie was so loud we can hear it in the theater I was in. It was disturbing and annoying and ruined our movie experience.
This theater is awesome! The chairs recline with the press of a button and the staff are friendly. The theater integrates well with technology (from your phone) and has a good selection of food. Plenty of space for your legs to stretch out. Hope this helps!
Went to see a movie with my wife on a Sunday. It was quiet, mostly empty. The concession stand was clean, service was good. The condiment section was kept clean. Seats were very comfortable; they were the ones that recline. I'm definitely coming back.
Perfecto! The seats, are new and reclining. The popcorn, is warm and delicious. The drinks, large and in charge. The screen, big and bright. I will be visiting more often. I’m usually a 42nd street AMC guy but venturing further down town is the plan.
Signature red recliner seats that settle all the way back for a comfortable movie experience. Staff are friendly with the occasional newly hired staff that take the employee handbook to the heart. Bathrooms are decent and not too small.
Great and really helpful staff! I was getting used to my Alist benefits and forgot a box of candy- it was brought directly to me when i walked away! I got second row in a theater and it was a comfortable disrance still! A great AMC.
Wow loved it, period. The best seats I've ever had in a movie theatre and it's so affordable! The seats are like electronic couches. The sound and picture quality is amazing. The staff are very attentive. Definitely coming back!
Every time I've gone there I've had a great experience. The seats are very comfortable and if you download their app you can skip the lines at the concession counter and they'll deliver your popcorn and your drinks to you
This theater is perfect for the person not looking for a crowd but looking to not be alone. It doesn't have much selection in terms of food but the chairs and smaller shows are perfect for here. An introverts heaven.
Buying a ticket ahead was good. The food I ordered never came. I had to go all the way from floor 7 to the lobby, missing. The previews. It was asnafu: said it showed as delivered. Big hassle!! Won't do that again.
Seating was spacious but some of the seats were broken. Staff was friendly. The caramel popcorn wasn’t very good - just stick to the regular stuff. Ticket prices were a little high compared to other theaters.
The theater is really nice. The staff is friendly. The seats are comfortable. My only issue is with the comcession stand prices. I don't think I've ever paid $9 for a small popcorn anywhere! Smh!
Nice reclining seats make all the difference. This is my go-to theatre. Tickets are a little over 20 bucks, so there are cheaper theaters, but not by much and they may not have reclining seats.
A small theater location. Not so crowded and frequented when I went. The reclining chairs there are the best and the auditoriums are of decent size. Just wish there was stadium seating though.
Reclining seats, nice staff, good sound, previews appropriate to the movie, and respectful audience. Self-serve butter dispensers for the popcorn. (Just wish the popcorn wasn't so pricey.)
Love the reclining chairs! It was very clean when me and my daughter went on a weekday around 3pm. Not a large selection of snacks but that comes with the territory of a smaller theater.
One of the nice AMCs though the theaters are smaller in size. Its relatively clean as well. However, numerous chairs within the building do not operate/recline properly. Needs some TLC.
My go to movie theater in New York. Most theaters are nice and cozy with large recliners. Been watching movies here almost every week. Great location for a quick lunch afterwards too
I really enjoyed this movie theater. It was clean and there was workers everywhere to help you out if you need it. If you want to catch a movie I would suggest coming here!
Awesome movie theatre with lots of great movies playing. They have a decent food selection. They have lots of drinks available too and believe they will have alcohol soon.
Nice theater with a good location. The seats are all good recliners, so it's definitely very comfortable. I also think it's generally cleaner than other AMCs in the area.
Clean auditoriums, new reclining chairs, lots of space, lots of auditoriums, great quality of screens. Perfect location. I love it, it’s my fav in NYC and view is amazing
The theater is pretty small compared to other ones but they have recliners! They have self service ticket booths, escalators and elevators. Bathrooms are kept clean too.
I had a great time watching Spider-Man no way home. The crowd was great, the seats recline very well, and the area was cleaned well. Such an enjoyable moment for me.
this is currently my favorite AMC. i like this location, it’s close to the train and the employees were nice. the theater was super nice and chairs really comfy!!
They have ,probably, largest popcorn and Coca Cola deal. In addition they have turntable Lazy-Boy sofas, a 4k huge screen and Dolby Atmos surround sound system.
Their Tuesday specials are a great way to view the movies you want to see and save some funds to buy snacks. Small and intimate theater, love it! …
I like this theatre because not too many people go to it. It has 3 floors and a big open area and it the concesstions are the outside before you go in.
My favorite AMC. You dont have to go up too many floors. It has a lot of AMC signature reclining seat. Kips Bay is also great if that one is closer.
If you like AMC, this location is a must go. Cozy, quiet, petite environment and friendly staff will be a perfect place of escape from the crowd.
Clean and comfortable theater. Recliner chairs and reserve seating is a must these days, be sure to book in advance online to reserve your seat!
Great theater! Clean! I went to see a movie on a Saturday afternoon and it was nearly empty. There were only three other people in the theater.
Went to see The Meg in the Trench. The movie was amazing and very exciting. The theater was very clean, and I love the reclining seats. …
This theater, if you go at a more quiet time, is much less ghetto than the Union Square joint. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood.
Terrible experience. We could hear sounds from the theater upstairs the entire time. It ruined the movie. Workers also were hostile.
The theatre was clean the concessions are lacking. No hot food. Mainly popcorn, pretzels, candy, and the usual unhealthy drinks.
Standard AMC theater. Each floor had two screenings. Love the seating areas as well. Has a great birds eye view of the streets.
No fryer so no vegan impossible nuggets and other fried things. Also you can usually hear the sound of other movies nearby by.
I never went to this movie theater it's so big and clean. I loved it. The staff were so friendly. I will come back here again.
Decent movie theater but old and not super well maintained. Popcorn the one time I went wasn’t too fresh. Nice staff though.
Really friendly, helpful staff. We were in theater 2 and there were super comfortable recliner chairs with reserved seating.
Really comfortable and cozy of a theater to be in, especially that they have recliner chairs. Will most definitely go back!
The building was surprisingly tall. I believe i had to go to the 7th floor for studio 7. Staff was nice. Pretty clean too.
Went with my cousin and husband to see mission impossible with Tom Cruise was very good lots of action.comfortable seats.
Very clean theaters and nice staff. I watched the new spiderverse here with a bunch of friends and we had a great time.
Not my favorite amc. There was nothing overly wrong but how closed off the atriums were (the layout of the place).
Clean and spacious... The theater room I had was very clean chairs clean and they recline. Do recommend this AMC .
My fav cinema ! It's never usually crowded. The plush recliner seats are just amazing! It's a cozy experience ...
My favorite movie theater in the city. The best reclining seats. The restrooms are always clean. Friendly stuff.
Nice, clean and comfortable theater showing the best releases of the season. Superior movie theatre experience.
Terrible time there. Really bad sound design. Heard the entire beyonce movie from upstairs. Don't go there.
Nice theater but if you're using your app open before entering. They have something blocking the service.
One of my favorite theater love the recliners. Staff are helpful, friendly and theater is very clean.
Lazyboy seats, smaller theaters and food delivered to your seat. What else could you ask for.
Most of the area is clean, decor is ok. Bathrooms are small & clean. The service was good.
theater auditoriums aren’t that nice, our screen had a weird glimmer for the entire movie
I enjoyed my time, food was good popcorn was fresh and the customer service was great !
