I had to give two stars because today April 5th 2023 me and my child went to this theater to see The Super Mario Bro. Movie and all was well UNTIL the middle of film when a SPIDER CAME DOWN to the seat in front of me!!! I looked up and saw a MISSING rectangle tile on the ceiling! We were in Theater 1 and I was in row D seat 18. Apart of the first few rows in front of screen and regretted it. I felt uncomfortable the remainder of the movie and time the credits ended I told a female employee who was about to clean who seemingly could have cared less. I then told the male who helped us scan our tickets at the kiosk earlier and he waved down a guy he said was a Manager who told me the building owners were on vacation. Everyone go here at your own risk. Pay attention to the ceilings and I realize this is a community theater so perhaps everyone was seated in the back like they knew all about the front row and ceiling if not then by personal preference. In any case, this was my first and last time at this Movie Theatre. I called 311 who told me I had to file the complaint with the theater so be it Probably should give it 1 star but because my child was unfazed at the time by what I had to fully explain later was unsafe, hazardous and unclean I have given it 2 stars. 1 star for the concession stands somewhat reasonable prices as far as movies go and 1 star for the friendliness of some staff.

Our overall experience Williamsburg Cinemas is good. Making reservation through Fandango wasn't the best as they are not live updates. We keep on making seat reservation (on empty seats) and the site keep rejecting our requests. It took 4 tries before we found empty seats (Fandango fix your website to live updates). The theatre itself is situated near public transportation (walking distance to Buses/L ,J & M Trains), standard selection on the concession stand (please hire employees that will make your experience positive), they have elevators, clean restrooms and the theatre size accommodates approximately 90-110 ppl (depending on which theatre your movie plays). My wife and I went here for our date night and we had great experience mainly due to the movie and the audio and visual quality. Price of admission is affordable. For management, the seats we had wasn't cleaned (liquid stuff on the seat, butter perhaps?). If seats are reserved, you would think they would prep up your seat prior to you using it, especially these times that we are in.

A friend and I bought movie tickets for 8pm on Thursday 7/6 a few days in advance. When we arrived we purchased several concession items to bring into the movie, which was downstairs in their basement. We went downstairs to what seemed to be a construction site. We went back upstairs just to confirm that there wasn't another theater 7 and this is when the manager simply said, oh we refunded that. I poked further, wanting more information. he stated that there was a flood and that everyone was emailed in advance but I had received no email. To be fair, I understand things happen but knowing in advance would have saved us time and money as we spent almost $40 in concessions. Management did not seem apologetic or helpful. They asked if we wanted to see a different movie, but a credit for another time would have been best, especially since we didn't get our money back for the concessions. We ended up having to uber to another theater to catch the movie we wanted to see.

Friends don’t let friends see movies at Williamsburg Cinema. This place sucks, has always sucked, and only gets worse as time goes on. The last movie I saw there it was 80+ degrees outside and they turned the AC off halfway through the film. It was miserable. The projector was also misaligned, so there was a huge black box around the screen. They also flipped the lights on in the projectionist’s booth halfway through the film for like 20 minutes, illuminating the theater, and then the house lights came on 5 minutes before the movie ended. Other highlights from previous experiences here? Well, one time a friend of mine went to see a movie with me and came out with bug bites on her legs. Another time a person took a dang phone call in the theater, and then shushed the person who shushed them because, “I’m on a phone call.” The stories are endless. This place is the worst. I hate it.

I just left the theater, I was there for the 4pm show. I was in theater 7. Which is in the basement. You have to take the stairs down. I was in row F, which is the back row. It was a horrible experience. I'll start with my height, I'm 5'7", my issue was there was absolutely NO leg room. I had to sit slanted, with one knee in between the seats in front, and the other behind the chair to my left. My friends who were with me are 4'11 and 5', who also had issues with leg space. The people in row E had no qualms in leaning all the way back, rocking their seat and putting their feet on the rail in front of them, which added to the weight of the seats that were cutting off our leg circulation. Terrible experience. Won't be back.

We arrived for our 8pm movie (Elemental) we checked-in, bought $42 at concessions, and then went down to our theatre. We were shocked to find air dryers and an empty theatre. Finally we go back up to concession and are told our movie was cancelled due to flooding. Then they would only refund our candy. Even though we never would’ve bought all that concession if we knew our movie was cancelled. They should’ve refunded it all. Then we had to go back and forth to get a refund that they insisted they email us about. Which they never did. Very bad service to not let someone know their movie showing was cancelled and only telling them after they purchased a ton at concessions. We hope they can make this right.

Today I went to see the Mission Impossible film at 5:00pm in Auditoriums 7 and I must say the service was terrible. It was HOT in the Auditorium and 10 min into the film the lights where still on making it increasingly warmer. Several people went to complain, and the lights where finally adjusted 15 min into the movie. When asked about the uncomfortable temperatures the only response from staff was a cheerful Oh the AC is broken. How does one operate a cinema with a broken AC and 30 other peoples in one small room sweating. Terrible service indeed. There is nothing cheerful about sitting for 2.5hours sweating on pleather chairs and having to deal with the body heat of the others sitting around you!

Sadly to say, I did not know that this theater existed because my son and I normally frequent the same theaters whenever we go out to the movies. However, I'm glad that I know about it now because I actually like it. It's not a large theater which is definitely cool when you want to get away from the large crowds. The crowd here was much more civilized, just the way that I like it. The manager was pretty friendly and helpful. The concession stands were well stocked and clean. The cashiers were really nice. The seating in the theater was plush and pretty comfy. I think that I've found a new movie theater to go when I want to avoid the large crowds.

Williamsburg cinema is a great place to watch the latest movies. It’s well priced, good service, never too long of a line. If they were to improve on something’s it would be better popcorn, lower volume on sound (sometimes their sound is just too loud), and to renovate the theater in the basement. The theatre in the basement is tiny, and if you’re in the back row you actually do not have leg room. My friends and I went and the people in front of us were getting so angry because our knees were banging their seats, however we had no room for our legs elsewhere. I love this theatre but as I frequent it, these are my comments!

  • Holly Chen

I didn’t even realize you could have a bad experience at a movie theatre.. every movie experience I’ve had thus far has been enjoyable. This movie theatre was so poorly run. Halfway through the movie, a light in the back of the theatre came on for about half an hour, which disrupted the visibility of the movie. The past week in nyc has been 95 degrees+ and they turned the air conditioner off halfway through the movie. People were dripping sweat. The last two minutes of the movie, the main lights turned on, which just ruined the ending of the movie for everyone. Would not recommend.

  • Fay Scott

The worst movie theatre experience - we went to see an indie film and all we could hear was the baseline of Renaissance in the theatre next to us the whole time, vibrating our seats and super super loud. The legroom of the seats is worse than an airplane - you have to get up to let people in your aisle through! Then the doors were not soundproof so you could hear people exiting other theatres and walking by. The whole point of going to the theatre is to have a better audio experience! If I hadn’t been with friends I would have walked out.

  • Paulo Campos

An antidote to the multiplex. Williamsburg has a lot of theaters and shows major films but also screens indie films. I’m writing this the week of Barbenheimer and “Past Lives,” a highly reviewed A24 film, is still being shown three times a day. AMC and Regal theaters don’t always make space for smaller films. Williamsburg reliably does. Adult Tickets are $15. On Tues/Thurs all tickets are $12, which is a great deal. Friendly staff. I’m pretty sure there are fewer trailers than AMC. Great restaurants, cafes, bars nearby.

  • Layla Bird

It seriously smelled like dead fish trash in our theater. The seats are uncomfortable, purchasing tickets online beforehand is through fandango, so it’s not streamlined. The best option in this area is Nitehawk. At Nitehawk, you can earn BOGO coupons after every showing, there’s drinks and food served to you at your table, and the seats are actually comfortable and spacious enough for larger bodies. You don’t have to go far to elevate your theater-going experience immensely.

  • Yukio Tonegawa

I went in tonight 1/17 and was disgusted by one of the workers, he kept sneezing and coughing all over the food and didn't even bother to put on a mask or clean his hands while serving drinks and popcorn! HORRIBLE! It is unsanitary and it has made me not want to return to this cinema. Luckily another worker stepped in and took over once he saw his co-worker being irresponsible and unprofessional. it's a shame I had to see this I'll most likely not be returning.

  • Brennan Hall

Eh, it’s an okay theater. The seats are surprisingly comfortable, but other than that, there isn’t a whole lot else that is memorable or noteworthy. It’s a little more chain-y than some other great local theaters (Nitehawk, Syndicated, etc), so the crowds tend to be a little more casual as well, resulting in a lot of bad theater manners with people being on phones and talking, but that seems to be more of a widespread issue everywhere now.

  • Annmarie Rousseaux

I came for the first time since i moved to the neighborhood and loved my experience! The seats are comfortable and the staff was great. I felt like there was enough distance in between seats, so I felt safe. I was also impressed by the comfortable, pleather seating and amused by the kitschy movie trailer that played. I can’t wait to come back again. I recommend coming here on Tuesday and Thursday when they have their special pricing!!

  • Mariam Diallo

So Bad, Within the first 10 minutes of the movie the manager paused it because people weren’t sitting in the right seats, I went to watch Black Panther and there was no other seats but he front seats so I had no choice but to sit up front. It was so close to the screen and there was no reclining. It was so hot my neck hurt and the popcorn was so bad. Never going there again I will stick to AMC and Multiplex Cinema. -100/10

First visit here, saw the Woman the King with me daughter who recommended it. It's a small theater however, it was clean as well the bathroom. Food prices were reasonable. Chairs are not comfortable unfortunately. Nothing to do in the theater itself however in the neighborhood there are places to go eat and it's pretty lively. Nevertheless this was a cool experience. Key Note: I will visit this theater again.

  • Gregory Johnson

The Theater was nice, it's not the cleanness In the aisles. Yet, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. it's an intimate setting where you would feel almost as if you were home looking at big screen television. There's a young ignorant girl that kept kicking the back of my seat. Not only did it resonate the find my seat it resonated to the other folks who was sitting adjacent to me. Quite annoying!

  • Marc Taylor

Manager Antonio is the epitome of customer service, that should be bottled and served throughout the industry. The workers (especially Frank) we interacted with were all pleasant, congenial and helpful. The lobby area was clean and the technological systems all in working order. This is an exceptiona movie theatre that I will definitely continue to suoport. My wife says Indeed!!!

  • L Henry

I was searching for parking & missed the first 10 mins of the Woman King. I didn't like the old-school uncomfortable seats. I also did not enjoy the nachos that i overpaid for. The nachos was VERY crunchy & the cheese tasted like the color yellow. The concession stand dude was very nice & patient which is why I gave this location 4 stars...

  • Julianne Apple

This is a great local cinema! The seats are big and comfortable and you can reserve them ahead of time, the screens and sound are great, and they always have good movies to choose from. Not to mention the tickets are cheaper than the National chains, only $11-14 for an adult. They have some cool art from local artists hanging up as well!

  • Richard Alliers

DO NOT BUY ONLINE!! DO NOT BUY ONLINE!! These people did not refund me my money of $30! (also, they don't refund you the service fee which is $4). They sent me an email saying they refunded my account and it has been a week and still nothing! They stole my money and are crooks for that! Go to a real movie theatre and avoid this place!

  • Mr. Shillington

Small movie theater with a seven minute walk from the closest train station. The staff is young and could work on their customers services skills. Concessions station is small, clean and hard to distinguish from the tickets stand. Lost of Kiosk to buy you own tickets. I'll definitely go back to examine the other theater downstairs.

  • Nick Felker

I got a seat here to see the Barbie movie on a Sunday afternoon. It's fairly close to transit and nearby amenities, making it easy to reach. Their popcorn and drink combo was a bit small given the price, and the theater itself was not huge. Overall it's a bit cheaper than alternatives but not the peak of cinema in the city.

  • Julie T

I usually like this cinema but had a terrible experience this time going. Screen 7, back row has absolutely no leg room. So little, that I (5'6) had the chairs in front of me pressed against me legs constantly. Flights give you more leg room. It was an absolute joke and ruined the cinema experience. Please fix this

  • Burton Lewis Jr.

Love this cozy and intimate movie theater. It may not have the biggest screen or seat the most people but it's cool and is kind of like you're watching a private screening of a movie. I'd definitely come back to watch a good drama, thriller or comedy. Staff was cool and the concession offers a good range of snacks.

  • Anderson Brandao

Nice little theater. Clean and basically what you'd expect from a new theater that size. I read some complaints about not having leg room but i didnt have the same problem. If i had to guess it must be a bigger issue in the higher-ups rows or in the lower level screening rooms. Im 5'11 and didn't have any issues.

  • Rafael Yau

I really like this movie theater, it's never packed and the seat are super comfortable. The staffs are friendly and nice. Atmosphere feels cozy and lovely. Prices are inexpensive for movie tickets, I don't know about the food but I believe it's not much money. Overall great movie theater.

  • John

Nice clean theater with great screens and not intensely crowded. Came here a few times and had a good night. Just annoying to find parking in the neighborhood since it's very hip and lots of people around. I would recommend coming here with the train or a cab instead of your own car.

  • Damian Zafra

First time to this theater and really enjoyed the low key, relaxes vibe of this place. Different experience from those big chain theaters in the city. Friendly staff, very clean and located in a great neighborhood. This may have been my first time here, but definitely not my last!

  • Khalifah Ball of Resources

The chairs are phenomenal...if you had a chair at home like this you would sleep more and watch movies less. That being said, this theatre is great for those looking for a memorable/intimate experience, whether it be a first date, a parents night away from the kids, or the like.

  • Alex Davids

Cheapest cinema in the neighborhood. Good alternative to Nitehawk if you don't want to spend a ton of money. The only problem is that the theater is on the small size so the showings are limited. I have also found that they never have super late showings.

  • Derik Garcia

I watched Thor love and thunder in this cinema. The brightness was super low but besides that it was a great experience and the sound quality is great too. All they need to do is to make the screen brighter especially for dark scenes in movies

  • A C

The theater is clean and intimate. However it's a confusing layout and no one really offered any help or instructions on where to check tickets or how to get to which theater I needed. Just a few people standing around talking or on their

  • Melissa Naja

I live in Williamsburg but always go to see movie in Queens because the seat is extra-large but the ticket is more expensive and I'm tired of driving so long with the traffic, so I decide to just enjoy the movie in my neiborhood. Price is

Went to see top gun on a friday night. The AC was off and it was ~80 degrees in the theater. The sound was also whisper quiet. I could hear people in the front row taking a sip of their drink and people in the hallway talking outside the

  • Ewelina Alvarado

Great movie theater ! The only issue I have is the ticket machines outside. Today was third time when my transaction was suspended, screen frozed and I had no clue if I should wait and it will finally print tickets or walk away.

  • Justin J

There should be someone who goes inside to ensure that people are respecting the rules. I’ve never been to a theater where loud mouth people weren’t confronted with the option of shutting up or leaving. Don’t waste your money.

  • Miles Waisnor

Great theater. Good prices, low crowds, and friendly staff. They also have movie posters for sale which is excellent. The ticket machines outside the cinema don’t work too great so I would recommend buying tickets inside.

  • Maddox Martin

They constantly turn on the lights in the theatre before the movie is over… ining the climax of the movies. The sound quality is also so terrible. I don’t think they’ve upgraded their sound system since the early 2000’s

  • Brian Fernandez

There was extremely loud booming bass from next door the entire time. I don’t know that the theater has any control over it but it made the movie pretty much unwatchable. Highly suggest finding a different theater

  • Reina Rodriguez

Disgusting. Completely overpriced and apparently don’t have a manager. Here for John wick 4 odious with advanced tickets and had to wait over 20 minutes to sit down after purchasing concessions. Won’t come back.

  • Shneur

Great cinema. Only few rooms. Street parking. Stairs and elevator. Good seats, screening and sounds. Cheaper price for some movies. Came in on a Thursday evening and price for one adult ticket was only $12. Wow.

  • DramaLess Earthbound

I enjoyed the movie, and the food but if you're tall you may feel cramped sitting. It was my first time coming and I didn't know what to expect so, I got the seats in the back that were in front of the stairs.

  • Salah Anwar

The theater is nice and cozy. Probably you'll find better sound and systems in other theaters mostly in the city if you're a film geek and knows the difference. But this is sufficient and location convenient.

  • Harold Garces

One of my favorite movie theatres in the city. It's modern and clean. The way tickets and concessions are sold from the same point of sale is unusual and expedient. They always show the most popular movies.

  • Ivelisse Villanueva

The place is nice but one of the workers was very rude she laughed at my disabled daughter because she have a speak problem, reason I go to the city for everything I will not recommended this cinemas.

  • Gabriela Cruz

  • Jeffrey Witscher

It’s sort of incredible what has happened to this theatre. I remember the days when you could see a film in peace, now its like stiting in a living room based in hell.

  • Bernie Pierre

Went to see -Equalizer III with my 18yr old daughter. She paid for the movie. A surprise for me. Love the movie. Loved the atmosphere scene of Williamsburg.

  • Ryan Henderson

Pretty much every other time I go here something happens and the movie is messed up. Keep going because it’s close by and cheap but it’s honestly a gamble

  • Ron Etcitty

It is a small theater with helpful staff, great prices, and good popcorn. The atmosphere was great, and the seats were comfortable. I will return …

  • Faye Thomas

A very good place. Getting into the movie and out. Prices are reasonable for tickets and food. I like it and it was a change from the TV all the time.

  • Betzaida velez

cool workers, clean nice theater, fair warning they can't break big bills, it was my birthday so the crew was really sweet, John Wick 4 was dope!

  • MONONONO

This is a large cinema located next to an intersection. Anyone who walks by must see it. I came here to attend the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.

  • Bryttni Gutierrez

Very very very nice, great customer service love it, fresh popcorn drinks, and you can hear every single sound in the movie crisp clear display

  • Ms G

You will not be able to enjoy the movie. Bunch of kids laughing and speaking out loud. Even the few adults have no theater manners. Terrible

  • Matthew Kern

Friendly and helpful staff. They have delicious vegan popcorn and more screens than the nighthawk. Comfy seats and convenient location.

  • Shariz Alamin

Williamsburg Cinema is a cozy comfortable cinema location. I enjoyed my time there with my loved one. I will definitely be revisiting.

  • Eva Chen

fine theater but the volume was really quiet and the screen seemed a bit low? (felt like I needed to crouch to see it comfortably lol)

  • Juan Gutierrez

Modern, clean, vaccine only, tickets by the seat solid move theater. Right in the heart of Williamsburg. Come see a great new flick!!!

  • Zeen Absolute

Decent theater. The front row seats are basically unwatchable from the sides though. And they don't serve alcohol. Otherwise, decent.

  • Kyle Theed

This place use to be decent. Now it’s hot, the seats have no leg room when the person in front of you sits down and leans back.

  • Daniel Potes

Don’t buy tickets online, they still require you to wait in line rain or shine… Also none of the ticket machines work outside…

  • falguni kayasth

Not bad but provide details on how to obtain tickets via email and in the shade while using the booths. Barbie was fun

  • Lexus Theus

$15 for 1 ticket is amazing! Lol the seats don’t recline but that’s ok because it’s a good price for a movie ticket.

  • Taiwo Adiro

Staff are nice, auditoriums are small. Don't pick the front row even if all the seats are taken. Go elsewhere.

  • Donald Lynch

Always love seeing a Movie on the Big Screen nothing compares with that Experience ✔️ …

  • Ramon Rodriguez

Mission impossible theater 7. NO AIR CONDITIONING. The worst experience. All of us sweating. Just awful.

I love this theater it’s not expensive, or crowded. Everyone respects the no talking or phone rule.
