Looking for a great place to take the road less traveled? Try this park, it is fantastic. Plenty of sandy trails to take a casual walk or jog and no bicycles are allowed. Look at the map photo for the relative size and circular walking paths. The reason is that there are several medium-sized mounds with either stairs or a sand-covered trail. Please note that climbing the wooden stairs in the photo is safer than descending. Dogs are welcome; restrooms and picnic tables are near the entrance gate, and there is limited parking at no charge. If crowded, you can find nearby parking on the neighboring streets.
Restrooms
Both mens and womens restrooms near picnic area.
Dog-friendliness
I always see people walking their dogs, it's great.
Picnic area
No open flames or BBQs allowed in the park. Small picnic tables with limited seating and group area for small gatherings.
The best little hiking spot in almeden valley. The small trails offer a quick get away if you're not it the mood to go on a day hike. There is beautiful plants and trees everywhere. The TJ Martin dog park is usually packed with big dogs, and some regulars don't pay attention to their big dogs (that blond lady) but it is still worth a visit! I love the history of Guadalupe oak park, so many hidden treasures. There are silly squirels, owls, jack rabbits, and woodpeckers that say "hello!" This is a perfect place to climb to the top hill and watch the sunset, the top hill is located very close to the north gate. And there is abundant street parking near the north entrance.
This park was a Google search discovery. And what a treasure find. The trails are varying from a slow grade to a steep climb so one could get a nice cardio workout. Even steps. And the views from different vistas are great. Perfect spot for a picnic near the parking area or a nice trek to a vista spot under a tree. And if you are into bird watching, this is a great location. On the other end is the Jeffrey Fontana Park with a playground for children and a dog park, two areas, one for large dogs and the other for small. Wonderful.
This is a great little neighborhood park in San Jose with both dirt and paved paths, lovely oak trees in all stages of life and decay, some healthy breeding coalitions of Acorn Woodpeckers, and from the hilltops, wonderful panoramic views of Silicon Valley, the San Jose downtown skyline, the Diablo Range, and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Best parking is on city streets just north of the park where there is an unobtrusive entrance along the chain-link fence. The small lot inside the park is always full.
Walked my dog here in the late morning, and I have to say that I got a nice stroll out of it. Most of the path was shaded, and the park was very clean. Views on the hill were decent (if only giant power lines weren't in the way), and theres oak trees all around with a bunch of birds and squirrels just going about. Like others have said, there's only 10 parking spots, but you can park on the street if those are taken and just walk into one of the several park entrances.
Great neighborhood walking park and natural space. Climb the little hills for a view of Almaden valley. There’s a small playground and dog park nearby
Playground
Small playground. Lots of paved walkways that are great for roller skating or kids riding their bikes
Restrooms
Public restrooms on the north end of the park
Dog-friendliness
Dog run on the south side, under the big transmission lines
This is great place to hike, jog, or walk. At ground level, the sceneries are so beautiful, reminded me of the countryside. Enough trees to go around, but not too much to block out the sunlight. It's a well kept park. The surrounding neighborhoods are very clean, too. Highly recommended to visit this park. Parking is limited, and there is one way in and out. You may also park on the street as well.
One of the best parks in all of San Jose in my opinion. I've spent many many hours in this park and have taken some wonderful photos here as well! If you go during the spring time the park is a blanket of wildflowers. You can see deer and coyote and many nice birds here. There are also occasionally goat feedings! Super fun to see them mow the grass every now and again.
An amazingly peaceful and private place for public park. Two nice peaks with views of south SJ and Mt Umunhum. Plenty of benches with good vistas. Woodpeckers everywhere in the Live Oak grove! Large fenced-in dog run at the edge of the park. We'd probably drive an hour to visit a place this nice . . . and it's minutes away if you live in SJ.
Used to walk here a lot years ago while staying with an aunt in San Jose. Some new condos have been built into the hillside, which makes the park feel a little smaller but it's still a hidden gem. There are blue birds, large families of woodpeckers, condors, hawks, swallows, sparrows and small mammals. It's a terrific place to birdwatch.
Excellent park that is not too crowded. Two parking entrances on both sides of the park, bathroom facilities, and great views. The lower part of the park is filled with pretty oak trees and a great amount of shade. A good amount of wildlife (woodpeckers, squirrels, rabbits with the chance of seeing even more!) and lovely wildflowers.
If you’re looking for a small hike with some elevation and shade, Guadalupe Grove is the perfect spot. The natural habitat is well-preserved and it doesn’t feel like a commercialized place. Bird watchers will love it here as there are some rare birds to be spotted. Overall, Guadalupe Grove is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.
Nice park to go to because it is pretty sanitary and very nice to go running or walking. Playground is nice and friendly to children. If you chose to walk or jog you can do a very very big loop. If you go on wheels like skateboarding rollerblading and biking this park is perfect for that. Overall this is a very good park.
Guadalupe Oak Grove and Jeffery Fontana Park are Blossom Valley Gems. This is a great place for a short hike or walk among some Great Oaks. There are some beautiful views, you can bring your dog and the kids won't complain about the adventure being too long (who am I kidding, yes the kids will complain).
Really nice light hiking spot. A couple hills to climb with log stair steps. Nice views over the valley. Or take the flat loop if you're looking for an easier walk. Lots of oak trees, many downed, provide moderate sun cover. Adjacent playground. All of this tucked in a nice neighborhood.
Hidden gem of a nature park in Almaden area. Oak Grove is beautiful and serene. Views from the top of the hills are probably the best you can find for such a close drive. Perfect for birdwatching. The woodpeckers are very busy! Trails provide easy & enjoyable hiking.
Nice place for hiking, playing, not only for kids and adults but also for pets. There is a small parking lot next to the restrooms. You may also park along the street. Several short trails to explore. There are two playgrounds, one is for kids, the other is for dogs.
Love this "little" park. Can't get lost, Good hill work out. Lots of parking on both sides of the park. Good place to watch the sun rise and sun set. Good view of the city. Use hiking poles to take edge off hiking up and down the hills if not an experience hiker
Great park for a walk with the family, it has tracks of several difficulties, from the completely flat to the steep. Reasonably good parking space on the road next to the entrance. The neighboring playground can be used as a stop mid-walk for the kids to rest.
A little oak tree country spot right in San Jose. Parking is always easy and there is a bathroom. Beautiful nature walking trails, wide enough for bikes and dogs on leashes too. If you make it up to the top, the view is amazing. We love doing photos up there.
Maybe my favorite park yet in San Jose area. I love all the trees and the woodpeckers and squirrels just add to the experience. Great place to walk my dogs and enjoy nature. I love how they have three types of oak trees in abundance on this property.
Great place to walk the dog(on leash) with the family. Bathrooms are usually open and there are many benches to sit on if you need a break or to look at the views. (Photos were taken awhile ago after the rainy season, not on this particular trip)
It is a peaceful island of oaks and grass, dry in it's season, a green uncluttered carpet in Spring. It sport s rock grotto on the higher trails, and there are trails ranging from level to moderate, to difficult, higher ones offering great views
Really nice 63-acre park with fantastic hiking trails for a neighborhood park. Can climb 250 ft. to fairly unobstructed views of the valley and foothills, or stay on flatter trails. Most hiking routes are about 1-mi, but these can be easily
Just found out about it. What a owasess in the middle of our housing jungle. Easy accessibility. Nice walking trails. Even have bathtrooms there as well a dog run area. When you go there walk around there easy have flat walk area as well
If you want to do a research about acorn woodpecker, come here. This place has lots of Acorn Woodpeckers. Their population here is so dense that you can hear them and see them constantly. Other birds include Bushtit, Downey Woodpecker,
It's a mini jungle in the middle of a suburban area with nature preserved as it is. While walking thru it, one can mostly hear birds chirping, squirrels running around and deer grazing in small herds. Most fascinating to watch are the
This is an idyllic park with beautiful oak trees and meadows surrounding the hill at the center of it all. Great running spot and it links to surrounding parks, which offer more trails and playground. Public restroom is also available.
Absolutely a wonder stroll with family members on a lovely sunny day! Hiking trails are little kids friendly. The dog park section is a nice gathering place for dogs and their owners. Not too many rocky trails that deters a good hike.
Nice safe spot to take a walk w friends or dogs. Peaceful. Could use a bit more parking but it's all good. Nice trails.

Dog-friendliness
Great trails. Dogs are always on leash.
Picnic area
Sturdy.
This Guadalupe Oak Grove Park is a little gem in Almaden. Once you get into this park, you feel you are in a different world, even though it is in the middle of residential area. There are a lot of oak trees with woodpeckers busily
Great place for multiple purposes from relaxing to cardio. Ive been here at different times of the day and its rarely crowded which I love. There is an area for dogs as well. There is public restrooms and tables. AND H2O fountain.
Nice little park, especially for right in the middle of neighborhoods. For such a small park it does offer 2 moderate hills and a few miles of trails which all seem pretty well maintained. I'll definitely go back sometime
My dog callie and I have spent many years at Guadalupe oaks park in San Jose ca , this is a nature park with three types of oak trees and a old sandstone quarry. It is very people and dog friendly. Come walk and enjoy.
Been living in Almaden Valley for 11 years now, but not until a couple months that I started visiting the park. Much quieter than nearby Almaden Lake, and the views are spectacular! (One of the best in San Jose)
Probably one of my favorite parks in San Jose. It's condensed, but has wonderful trails, hills, and above all beautiful oak trees everywhere. We discovered it from a photographer, and I can see why she uses it.
This neighborhood park is a hidden gem in the Almaden Valley. Hills, oak forest, sandy trail loops, and lots of wildlife, including woodpeckers, deer, wild turkeys, and the occasional coyote and bobcat.
Great network of trails throughout the neighborhood. There are fitness obstacles along the way. It's kept in great shape. Benches spotted all over and there is shade everywhere. Nice park indeed.
Nice location for a one or two mile hike through nature. Woodpeckers and redtail hawks are easy to spot. Trails are mostly flat with a few hilly options. Frequented by hikers and trail runners.
Adorable little park that is great for walking or running. Has some nice flat sections and then there are some hills if you need to incorporate hill training. Has a dog park and bathrooms.
First time walking the trails. A nice walk in the middle of suburbia. Despite signage requiring masks, over half of the people encountered weren't wearing one, even around their neck.
Beautiful location for a hike or get a photoshoot done. Not very busy and easy with toddlers. There are two entrances so make sure you go to the one with parking and restrooms.
This park has perfect small trails And also a quick hike. During the walk, you can find lovely sunrise or sunset views. It's a great escape into nature right after a busy day.
Multiple wide and well maintained trails + 2 short hill trails. 3 entrances to get into the park makes it easy to get in and get moving. Most people wear masks but not all.
Great little park to get a nice walk or quick jog in. There is a sandstone quary right in the middle that has a nice view of the rolling hills of San Jose.
Lovely little park. Feels more remote than it is. Very little parking. Dog friendly. Bathrooms were there but closed due to pandemic. Lower area was shady.
Best local city park in the area. Beautiful hills filled with oak trees. Very clean. Much more relaxing than the more popular Almaden Lake near by.
Our first time. We walked the hill trail. A nice hiking park in the middle of suburbia. But it would be improved with signage for the trails.
The park is an excellent place to bring kids. There are a playground and splash pad that kept my children entertained for hours.
Some beautiful views of the valley from here. Oak covered picnic tables and there are restrooms too. Dogs on leash ok.
Great for walking, relaxing, running, and jogging ♀️. There's also a dog park for bringing your loved pets. …
Small park but terrific, very old oak trees. Decent paths, birds, wildflowers, and lots of ground squirrels.
Nice little park. Hilly with little shade. Be sure and visit when the goats are there, eating the brush!
Nice neighborhood park where I went to get pictures of woodpeckers. Happy to get a few good pics.
good place to exercise and walk fresh air many birds and also squirrel very cute I recommend it
The air is pretty fresh in the morning. You can see far from the top of the hills. Great view!
A beautiful, peaceful place to enjoy a walk. There is also a great playground for the kids.
It’s a really nice park, but excluding bikes is really not necessary. Why did they do this?
Nice no-frill park. Good for a short hike with family or friends. Dog friendly (on leash).
Nice small park with a couple of hills. Views are great. Dogs in leashes everywhere.
Pretty decent park! Would go again
