BUY 2 AND GET (HUMILIATED INTO PAYING FOR) 1 FREE Last week I was humiliated, and bullied into paying for an item that was supposed to be free. My online order included buy 2 get 1 free toys/activity mats. When I picked up my order I noticed one of the activity mats was missing, so I asked where it was. I was met with a loud, confrontational woman who insisted that my order wasn't missing anything because she put it together herself the night before. I showed her the order confirmation email from my phone, and she took my phone and walked away with it to show someone else. Apparently the free item was ready for pickup at a different store (which doesn't make any sense). In the most condescending tone I've heard in ages, she said that I must've made two separate transactions, and it wasn't her problem. (I only made one) I showed her that the order number was the same, and I had no idea why it was separate from everything else. I was told to call the other store and cancel the order, so I did. She located the exact activity mat that was missing from my order, and told me it was the last one they had. It was obvious that I was so embarrassed and defeated at that point, she actually asked me what was wrong. I didn't want to deal with her anymore, so I just said that I was exhausted. To my surprise she replied "You're exhausted? I've been working since 7am." I assumed since she heard me cancel the pick up at the other location (like she told me to) I was able to finally leave with my complete order. Nope. She insisted that I pay for the activity mat anyways, and that the other store would refund me. I tried to remind her that it was the free item, and there wasn't anything to be refunded, but she didn't listen to me. I paid, and regret it. This purchase was for my two senior dogs with money I've raised for their bucket list, and medical expenses. The only reason I ordered the activity mats was because of the buy 2 get 1 sale. No, I wasn't refunded for the free item, because it was supposed to be free. I feel bad for everyone who receives "customer service" at this location.

If only I could give them 0 star I would. I brought my pup here 2 weeks ago and when he came back to us he was still all wet and very mortified. The groomer, Olivia, was very condescending to us saying that our puppy is dangerous and aggressive. And she said that out loud. All the other customers backed out when they heard her say that to our faces. It was very unprofessional and rude. When I tried to tell her that our puppy was just a little bit scared of the water she immediately cut me off and bluntly said “No he’s not scared, he’s aggressive!” As if she knows our puppy more than us! Our puppy is just 4 months old, and yes he is a big baby but he was fine when we got him groomed by Petsmart Southcentre. They even got all his nails done there. And then after that bad experience at Petsmart Chinook, we took him back at southcentre. And then the groomer there told us that our puppy was very frightened even if they just touch his toes and wet them. He was very traumatized. They also said that they must’ve forced him or even hurt him because they know that our puppy was okay with nail trimming and bathing before going to chinook. I am beyond furious at this grooming salon. Now we are doing therapy and desensitization on him. We will never come back at this place. So unprofessional and inexperienced. The fear and trauma she gave our puppy is unforgivable.

After recently adopting a cat I was excited to purchase a few toys for him. I had learnt that PetSmart had a kit available through my adoption agency. Before purchasing a bunch of toys/food, I had called PetSmart about the kit to inquire what was in it. They were zero help. So i went to place my order online, paid. Soon after received an email that multiple items were out of stock. If it's not in stock, take it offline! I went to pick up my orders - curb side. When i got home, i realized they had only give me 1 out of 3 orders, including the kit. I called to inquire about the orders, having to explain myself several times, and finally to a manager who clearly had no patience for me. I was told the 2 other orders were there and to come back for them- no explanation, no apology, nothing. It was some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I completely understand when there are mistakes in retail, however you can offer and apology and be sympathetic when it's on you. This entire experience has re-affirmed not to buy through a chain pet store and to shop local.

The care of the fish specifically here is unbelievable. As someone who has a heck of a lot more experience than their “fish experts”, I am appalled to say the least. I bought a very small sad looking beta on Friday, (I went in for cat food), I tried to speak with someone in the fish department about its condition, waited for 20 mins and no one came to speak to me. I ended up leaving with the fish as I couldn’t leave it to suffer. I brought said fish to the vet where they told me he had days left to live. His fins were destroyed, and he was covered in ick. I bought the fish some drops and medication to make it’s last few days decent. I woke up this morning to said fish dead in the tank. I rescue these animals so betas are nothing new to me, this is entirely pet smarts fault and I am beyond disgusted in the quality of care these animals are being given. Called three x today to have someone speak to me, once again I was put on a crazy hold and no one would talk to me. Train your staff better, and do better for these animals.

STAY AWAY FROM THE GROOMING SALON!! My poodle has the Miami cut and the cuffs/bracelets are uneven on the bottom, and all DIFFERENT SHAPES. One cuff was NOT EVEN TRIMMED!!! Her top knot is way to short, the line is crooked and the top knot is UNEVEN on top of her head!! They did not cut her dew claw. I paid 125.00. Is this salon a grooming SCHOOL? It should cost a student rate then and you take your chances!! They buzzed her down to the skin and it is UNEVEN! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! I wish I would of read the reviews prior as I WOULD NOT OF GONE TO THE SALON. I can see they don't even RESPOND TO ANY REVIEWS!!! IT WAS A WARNING SIGN WHEN I WENT IN AND THERE WERE NO DOGS BEING WORKED ON! DO YOURSELF AND YOUR DOG A SERVICE AND STAY AWAY.!!!THIS IS A -5 star but not rating available.

The first grooming was really good but the second time around was just horrible in my experience. I do understand my dog is not crate fully trained but cries when he gets felt alone at the crate, I get that. But we had an appointment at 12:30pm and yes I do understand that it might take a while but he took 4 hours until close until my dog was done getting groomed and the trimmed wasn’t as good as the first one. The fact that I felt like he was done last despite of having an appointment at 12:30pm. I have went to other grooming service and he was done by at least two hours… and I even paid extra for another person to helped him groomed at this place. For sure not going back to this location.

Employees are not trained in the ethical care of small animals, which is pretty par for the course at big chain pet shops. I watched as a family was told that a cage which was FAR too small was a great choice. They were also told that they could have two female Syrian hamsters in the same cage (Syrians or teddy bear hamsters are territorial so they will start fighting or kill each other once they reach maturity). I don’t blame the employees for this lack of education, but I do blame the shops themselves for continuing to sell unethical cages and wheels just for the sake of making money. People come in expecting that the employees are going to be more knowledgeable than them, the customer.

So today I went to the store to get a fish to go with my other one that I use to have 2 the gentleman that was in the department was nothing but rude and telling us what to do. No customer service here. And on that note we bought the 2 from their to start and had no problems with getting them so why could we not have a 2nd to go with the one we had cuz one passed a few weeks ago has put water tested and all so no reason for his rudeness and lack of customer service. Well we had some PetSmart gift cards my girlfriend got for Christmas, and decided to check out what they had to offer at the Chinook location. I saw the "Treat" reward system and decided to sign up. Ended up costing 12.99 for a box of cat litter. We ended up getting 5 of them, with the club discount the 5th one, and some change, were free essentially. We also got a rope post that the little bro seems to like, and a very durable fish pole feather toy that The other one loves. Great reward system. Lastly, the staff even went up to the top with a fork lift just to get us box #5. Definitely going back!

I have been breeding fish and crayfish for over 6yrs and I believe I have adequate knowledge about them. However every time I visit PetSmart(applies to all locations) they question about conditions of my aquarium and will comment about what to get and what not. I understand that they are trained to do so to make sure most fish settle in environment they deserve. But the employees should not interfere with what customers can or cannot breed without understanding the full situation. Other than that most of the employees are very nice and friendly and the merchandises are in good shape.

The young lady that helped me went beyond the call of duty!!! I arrived to discover what I thought I wanted was not even close! I'm max stressed while prepping for my miss P. to have major surgery and this gal was very supportive and creative in coming up with a better and best plan ever on many levels to help limited ability for P to relieve herself now until surgery and up to 5 mo.s recovery. Staff is friendly and helpful. They don't really check or go into detail when you purchase a pet like a hamster for example, they should probably do a more thorough purchase run through to make sure the animals will be properly taken care of. The tanks they are in are bare minimum and too small for the number of animals, and make me so sad to see. I wish I could buy them all to give them decent homes. Not this specific petsmarts fault they're all like that and known for it. Overall I'd come back they were friendly and had good selection for supplies.

Sadly petssmart has gone way down. They used to carry lots of quality toys, collars and leashes at great value, not to mention the price of dog food was always affordable compared to pet land. Now they charge 66.00 on sale for a bag of royal canin that I can purchase for 60.00 elsewhere,not on sale. The shelves are bare, the staff is unwilling to help and they have a security guard following you around the store. I'm hoping this is just a bad location and not representative of how the petsmart brand is going.

This is a large store but a little farther than we usually go. I find the other stores more appealing as this one is a little more industrial like. The layout is not my favourite. Don't get me wrong they have everything, if not more than the others like crates and mattes are plentiful here. Staff is great and friendly. As usual Pet Smart is a little more expensive in some areas and comparable in others. Not a had store to visit, just my opinion based on how I feel when visiting this location.

I spend hundreds of dollars here every month on dog food and treats. Tonight the manager kicked us out because it "appeared like we were doing a training session" while I was there shopping with another dog and friend. I have never had a problem here with my dog before, and work on "training" him every time I go into a store or public space so that he is well behaved while we are there. After the interaction today I will definitely not be giving them any business going forwards.

This has been by far the worst place I have ever taken my animals. The groomers are rude and don't do their job, yet charge full price for half the work. I had called and complained after my dog was traumatized and was shedding more then he was when we took him in. All they said was they would put a free cut and wash on my account. Went to use it and they didn't even do that. I will never come back, nor will i recommend this place to anyone I know. Absolutely horrible

I always find that the staff, when free, are more than willing to assist and explain the various products that they sale. They are pretty knowledgeable about the location and specs of their products. It is a huge store so they have a lot of inventory to choose from. It isn't just dogs and cats either. They have all kinds of products for various types of animals. There is always parking available which is important when you are carrying out a big bag of food.

One of the best places to shop at a brick and mortar store for pet food, general supplies, and even some more difficult to find items. The prices are always very competitive, the staff are helpful and I do not see why I would ever need to shop anywhere else. I hope they continue to innovate and keep the costs reasonable, it's a great shopping experience. Again, PetSmart is my primary location for pet supplies for my cat and fish.

Everyone is so high entertaining and so so nice. They make everything easy especially the amazing staff in the grooming Solon I last minute booked a new kitty in with my other 2 girls and they let me bring her in at the same time and change my appointment request as my new one needed a bath even tho when I called to book them in she didn’t need one. Manager of the Solon is so so nice definitely will be coming back

I dropped off Casey and Finnegan, my two large shaggy slightly smelly assh@les, and wished groomer Kaitlin good luck. Three hours later I got back two soft and sweet smelling angels that had their paws and nails perfectly trimmed, their teeth brushed, and their coats gleaming. Kaitlin said they had behaved perfectly and gave them a cookie and a bandanna and now she is our official groomer forever ❤️

I’m mixed on this one. They have a good selection their prices are fair. Their sales are great. They even help with animal adoption and have a grooming and training services on site. But the staff here are poorly trained and offer poor service. They don’t acknowledge people waiting and just don’t seem to care. (One exemption. There is one groomer who is so caring and loving to your pet.)

I'm very fond of one of the groomers here; Lilian moved from the Okotoks store to Chinook, and my old dog refuses to deal with anyone else. She's so patient with him, and everyone else seems to be very professional and friendly. It's been a big adjustment for my old man, but Lilian was gracious enough to accept him with a smile as always. Thank you for the wonderful service!

Normally I prefer shopping at my local pet store over big box stores but this location recently started carrying the brand of cat cans I buy and it's been a saving grace in a pinch. The store is moderately clean (the odd puppy puddle tends to be expected), prices seem competitive to other pet stores and the staff are always friendly (in my experiences).

Lots of variety for dogs and cats! (Plus other animals I don't own) My dog loves it when I either bring her or get her something. Terrible grooming experience. Will never go back atleast to this location! Used "matting" as an excuse to shave off my dog who always gets complemented for being mat-free at other groomers. Was also told he was overly anxious and requires training. Well yeah, no wonder! He's not used to being shaven down! Paid $225 to get a shaved doodle back!

Super clean and organized on a Sunday morning. Liking the Exquizicat line of cat supplies they carry. Plenty of stock for what I was after. The gentleman at the cash register greeted me on my way in and was so friendly on my way out. Told me to tell my cats that PetSmart says "Hi". Friendly staff and easy pickup for online orders. My only gripe is that the website wouldn't accept my Visa card for unexplained reasons, and it's been like this for as long as I've shopped there. PayPal works as an alternate, but can't be used if you want to set up a recurring order. Bet they lose a lot of business because of this.

Chad was great. Very knowledgeable about puppies, which I came with a LOT of questions. He helped me find everything I needed and connected me with a puppy trainer who was able to advise me on things as well as talk about 1 on 1 training sessions (for only $229 for 7 sessions btw!!) We got our stuff here for our first dog and most the stuff was a great deal. Today I went and needed to buy a brush but didn't know what kind and the groomers actually stopped grooming to show me the brushes I need and explain it. Do not go to that store, I spent 70.00 on a bag of Hills Science diet and their policy is if your pet doesn’t like it you can exchange it, I went to take it back and because I couldn’t find my receipt they refused to take it back, My cat won’t eat it so it is garbage, So go to a pet value if you want customer service.

They always accommodate us quickly. They are willing to discuss treatment options and are very laid back in their treatment of panicky animals. Came in to the South Calgary store for a dog harness I ordered online. I never received a confirmation email. I was greeted by Kylie at one of the registers. I have gotten 2 hamsters and 5 fish from this store. 6 out of 7 died within days of coming home! The 7th (hamster) only lasted 3 months! I've gotten the same pets from different stores and had them for years! I dont know what they are doing than this location, but something isn't right!

This store seems to have everything you may need for your pet! There's always signing for sales on, so I don't think that you have to wait long to get your pet food at sale prices. They have a rewards program too, that's based on your phone number, so no extra steps to take.

Grooming: just got my dog back from grooming and it is like nothing happened except that she smells clean. She was there for over 3h and I had asked for her to be shaved. They barely touched her fur. It is the worth grooming service we ever got. Waste of my time and money.

Saw someone wearing a dog training shirt with a dog tied to a cart... Not sure i like the kind of training they promote here. This doesnt seem safe. Not professional either. Not to mention what happened if someone else's dog attacked that one, hes got no where to go :(

I love this pet smart but I noticed they had raw hide in there Christmas display and I felt very sad. Please do better pet smart. Make this not the most easy thing to grab on the way pit this holiday season. No one wants vet bills for Christmas :( rawhide is dangerous

I genuinely enjoy this Petsmart. It is close to my home, always clean, they get people on tills quickly if there is more than 3 people in line. All employees are friendly and always say hello, even if I am not in the mood. All in all always a quick & easy experience.

Never go there. Many dog food is expired or close to expiration date. Manager name Haw…. is very rude and not helpful !! Terrible and baddest PetSmart in city.

We adopted a kitten from rescue center event they had there. We had to purchase a bunch of stuff for her to take home. The gentleman that helped us was great.
