I must edit my review of this place. Although there are some friendly sales staff, this is the worst place to come for pre order live feeders! It’s almost laughable the way the pre orders are handled- or not handled. I have been trying to pre order crickets from here for about a year and a half, when I first found out that this was an option. The crickets I need are very small and not kept on site on a regular basis. First I call to get my pre order set up, then wait several weeks and nothing comes so I go into the store to inquire, and apparently nothing is set up for my pre order.. ok so I try again. I ask for biweekly orders as opposed to 1 week, and they come every week until I remind them again that I want the order every 2 weeks, not 1. For a few months my orders come on time and all is ok. The following month I waited close to 3 weeks, then went into the store to ask about my order. The sales people(3 of them) tell me that they don’t think Petland is doing preorder crickets anymore!! There was no email communication, and no phone communication about this, instead I just don’t get a phone call again until I go in to inquire myself! I stopped going there for a few months but it is the closest pet store to me so I go in for something unrelated and see a familiar staff’s face. She says that they in fact did not stop pre ordered cricket sales, and the manager confirms! SO I sign up AGAIN, get a couple orders, go into the store to see when my next order will come, because it’s late AGAIN, and the guy says he doesn’t know when they’ll be getting the next order. I leave and go to Pieces, and Petland just NEVER CALLED BACK! Haha you can’t make this stuff up! Needless to say I will make the drive to other pet stores for my animal needs.

I brought my sensitive dog in for a grooming the other day. I admit to being a bit nervous as he is a bit of a wuss and it was my first time taking him here. I can not say enough about how wonderful the ladies (Jamie and Shelby) were with him. He looked fabulous and was completely at ease. I then took him to get a harness and a lovely girl, (Sam?) Was very helpful determining appropriate harness size and helping me find a matching lease in the length I needed. While I was waiting for Monte to be done at the groomers I explored the store. I enjoyed all the animals but was quite impressed when I saw the young man, Tyler, was giving 2 kids a bit of a lesson on the conures. It was obvious these kids about 1p yes old were not going to purchase them but they were interested. So he talked a little about caring for these birds and where they came from. He was handling them, it was quite interesting. I may or may not have listened in as it was really good information. Now I have been to pet stores where you feel like the only time they want to talk to you is when you are at the till, this is definitely not the case here. I was pleased to see how well and interactive the animals were, how attentive and knowledgeable the staff was and skilled the groomers are. I will definitely be back.

I had the most wonderful experience in this store today. At about 4pm Sept 21st, my dog Sophie and I went in to pick up a few small things and get some tags engraved. The employee who helped us with the tags was wonderful. And then two more employees came over to say hi to Sophie. Sophie thinks she’s some big hot shot now from all the love that was showered on her from all of the 3 employees we interacted with. One of the employees even grabbed a brush and started brushing Sophie while we waited for the tags to be finished. Everyone was so incredibly welcoming and are obviously working in the right environment with how much love they showed my doggo. I have never been to this location before as it’s a bit out of the way for me but today we just happened to be in the area, however I will now go out of my way to come to this location when I can thanks to the amazing experience we had today. Thank you to everyone we had the pleasure of interacting with today! You made my day, but you especially made Sophie’s!

I have bought many fish from this location, just for them to die shortly after. Even though my tank size, water temperature and water quality are fine… they continued to pass away. Just 3 of the 7 fish that I bought have survived and one of them was just purchased yesterday. One of the fish had mouth rot when I got it and another had fin rot. A staff member recommended me a product and told me it is used to to treat fungus and fin rot, but gave me improper dosage. He told me it was 5ml per gallon, when in reality it was 5ml per 10gallon. Not only did he give me improper dosage, but with farther research, the product isn’t meant for treating fungus it’s for preventing it, and it may slow the healing process of infected or injured fish. Out of all times I’ve visited this location, only two of the staff members I’ve spoken to gave me proper information. I have no anger towards any employees here, or the establishment itself, it’s just upsetting having fish constantly dying in my aquarium.

I have been going to this Petland since 2005 when I first moved into Coventry hills. I even bought my first dog here 11 years ago, an Australian Shepherd who turned out to be an absolute champion of a dog. That being said Ive tried and tried to like this petland but after years of terrible service, uninformed/ trained staff and terrible prices I have just had enough and am sad to say after my free bag of dog food (I'm at 9 out of 10 on Orijen) I won't be spending money here any longer. I could go off about the multiple examples of horrors I have witnessed here over the years but the bottom line for me is they are ripping people off with their inflated prices I just found out I've been paying $50 plus tax for Carefresh pet bedding for my lionhead bunny that I could have been buying for $27.99 at pretty much any competitor around town. I would be willing to pay a little extra for the convenience of the location but almost double ? ridiculous, its recycled paper...

Arin assisted me in the fish department and made the whole experience at Petland a special one ! I believe Arin manages this particular deparment and he truly does an impressive job. The fish at this location have the most beautiful and brightest colors I have ever seen. As I commented on this, Arin mentioned how much effort he puts into ensuring that the fish are consistently fed high quality food. I also appreciate how much Arin cares for the well-being of every fish that goes to a new home - he advises with integrity on what fish are appropriate based on what the buyer is looking for. Thank You Arin for helping me out with my Blood Parrot and for helping me pick the plants specific to my needs ! You are definitely the kind of person that leaves a positive lasting impression on people who are lucky enough to meet you! My wife was asked to come in for an interview today and was turned away once she arrived. She was informed of a time to come in and was told on arrival that it was an hour prior. This was entirely an error on the behalf of Petland and would have been acceptable had they at the very least owned up to the fact that they had provided the incorrect time, however instead of any form of apology they denied any responsibility and rudely blamed my wife and turned her away to walk back home in -30 degree weather after she had spent the entire last two days preparing and even set up a baby sitter for the occasion. For anyone who is seeking a job at this location, I hope you get the opportunity to read this review and acknowledge its red flags that address a business that can not keep proper track of time or even own up to their professional errors or treat their potential employees with respect.

I will never shop at Petland again as long as they keep selling any type of live animal, what they are doing is very unethical. They should stick to pet supplies and leave the sale of pets to people who know what they are doing. The staff should not be relied on to take care of animals in a store. The poor animals that they are selling at this particular store are forced to be handled by young kids and teenagers regularly as there are several schools nearby, all while there is no supervision. None of these kids are actually buying anything, so why allow them to handle and mistreat the animals. This store also has a shelf full of Beta fish in their little cups, some of them dead, these may just be fish, but it is still cruel to sell them like that. Just because the fish can 'survive' in a little cup does not mean that its ok.

First, you can pet a cat and thats great. The negative for this pet land, and all pet lands, are the prices on dry goods and pet accessories. The tick up compared to competitors is on the wrong side of hilarious. I am not talking a buck or Two, most items are between 30 to 50% higher! As an example. Pet Planet is maybe 4 minutes away. Go compare the prices of your favourite cat liter. For mine - at pet planet its 19 bucks, at this pet land its 45. Another example is fish accessories. Its every item - but lets look at water conditioner. Seachem prime, a popular brand, 500ml is over 40 bucks at petland. But only 27 at nearby pisces pets. This trend can be found on almost every item. In todays age, these absurd price differences matters. Do your price checking first. Pet land is a place of last second convince and little more.

I visit this place all the time and have adopted a hamster from one of the stores in the south. The place is always fairly clean and the staff are very friendly and some are close with the animals which is nice to see. I also like that they have special need volunteers and let them spend time with the animals and whatnot. I do think there should be more staff makin sure customers or visitors are treating the animals right as a few times now i have seen children messing around with their friends and bugging the animals. But i realize that the staff may not have the authority to do so unless its serious. Also to make sure the animals are socialized properly and less likely to nip etc. Overall agood place just needs some changes.

Seriously disgusting care and upkeep of enclosures! We went in to the fish and reptile section, all the little betas were basically dead and their little cups caked in algea. The large tanks were all low water levels, and also just covered in algea and disgusting fungus. You couldn't even see the fish, and they would surely kill fish in your home. The small animal section was also disgusting. So much feces and soooooo beyond stinky, I felt terrible for them!!!! The staff were ok, some super spacey and not really seemed like they knew what was going on. One staff memeber was on top of the ball interacting with guests. They had a little grey rabbit out, and he was being mistreated by customers while staff watched. Need some work

Last wednesday was the first and last time we visit this store. Yes, they have wide variety of products. Yes, they got unhappy fishes. Yes, there are some "friendly" and helpful staffs but there is this EMILY who rolls her eye and shakes her head when my husband said Thank you as he exits the store. And I won't dare to forget it. Please remember, NOT all people who enters the store are expected to BUY something. Like us, we are planning to set up aquariums and thus canvassing is needed for what we had on mind. Lastly, does our kids bother you? Then, this store is not kid-friendly.

I just wanted to point out to the person who commented about the small animals, that the hamster water is not old, it is in fact fresh water, and the reason it is yellow is because it’s medicated with tetracycline to help prevent wet tail in hamsters. They get tetracycline directly from a veterinarian. The hamsters are not sick or anything it is a preventative for stress induced diarrhea. As for the rabbits having yellow feet, you will literally find that anywhere. Rabbits are notorious for stepping in their own urine. It’s normal.

Good selection of supplies and food. Small fish section, but they occasionally get a rare gem (got one of my original/favorite fish there). We got our bunnies there too, they outfitted us pretty good for being first time rabbit owners. Staff's always helpful and never seem too busy for the customers. ... it's a pet store, you kinda gotta be a good hearted individual to work at a place like this. And as an added bonus, the store's close to my place. Perfect for those 'Awe man, I need a thing for my critters' moments.

Honestly I haven't been into a pet store in a very long time but the service here was good and I have no complaints. I was very surprised to see larger animals for sale (guinea pigs, rabbits, and bigger animals) as opposed to the direction most forward-thinking pet shops are going in, regarding only displaying larger animals who need rehoming through local shelter programs. Some countries have even banned the sale of animals in pet stores, and for good reason. Perhaps Petland should consider this.

Had good experiences with the groomer there. Everyone is always excited to see our little buddy .However we had to pulled out. There is a strong stench emanating from that place. Concerning to our little buddy. Might be back… but we gave it a visit after noticing it to see if it was still present. That’s about two months. Also I realize it’s a “dog grooming” place but it doesn’t seem sanitary. ‍♂️ . Anyway might be back at some point but the staff are all very nice and helpful.

Want to buy local. Went to get Nutra cat food. They have individual packets on the shelf. When asked if i could purchase a case of 12 ( 24.99 at Petsmart) was told..sure but you have to pay the individual piece price of 2.98 each. So 2.98 x 12...$35....really Petland....thats bad business. Even when I told them I could get it at Petsmart for 24.99, they didnt care, weren't willing to match. So went to Petsmart and bought 3 cases from them. Also sale price of $ 2.oo each.

The employees always give great information on animals if they see that you are interested in them. I love how they allow you to interact with the animals, like how they let you take the birds out, pick up bunnies, guinni pigs, mice, and hamsters, and they allow you to go in spaces with cats. I love it so much, I came here after I finished my final exams. It is overall lovely and one of my favourite places ever.

I have had many wonderful experiences at this location. One of the staff named Peter was so patient, attentive, knowledgeable and experienced. He answered my many questions and concerns about our birds, and also helped with replacing our lost bird, grooming our other bird and also shared practical information about handling and taking care of our birds. I will recommend this store

Grooming provides terrible customer service after going there for over a year I will never take my dogs back there again. Not only did I get a rude voice message but my daughter was also treated rudely when she went to pick up our dogs. This was after giving them the benefit of the doubt for the second time and my dogs were butchered. Never Again will I step foot in this location.

Great Customer Service! Called in today to ask about my betta fish. The gentleman who answered the phone and transfered me over was very nice and cheerful to talk to. I spoke to Aleah about the problems with my fish, she was very knowledgeable, and gave me some great advice. Very impressed with their customer service. You can tell they really care about the animals :).

Came in wondering if they had an older gerbil for mine because his partner had died. They didnt, but were extremely nice and took my info, and surprised me with a call 3 days later saying they had a older gerbil for me in the back that they had got from someone for me! They even emailed me a picture of him and were so kind to me. This place treated me wonderfully.

This is the BEST store ever!! The staff are patient, helpful and kind. I'm on hold with Hunter for an answer about dog food, and other staff members are checking in on the flashing hold button to make sure someone isn't on hold too long Pleasant, professional and organized with lots of choices for your cherished animals. I find Petland to be very pricey. The only plus side, is they will gladly accept any fish surrenders. However, it is a double edged sword as they do not give credits towards new fish (ie: I brought 3 goldfish that had outgrown my tank and purchased new ones). That's kinda shady considering they sell the surrenders for the same price as their own stock.

She gave me a lot of advice and things to think about before bringing home any new fish and I am really happy with the honest service I got. Very bad experience here. I will never go here to get my bird's wings cut, because they don't know how to handle the birds while clipping the wings. When I came here to get my birds wings cut they took them to a room and one of my buzzies came back with no tail at all. They were very scared and nervous as well. Very bad experience.

Nicked my dogs back end when he was in for a haircut. Dropped him off at 10 am and wasn’t didn’t get a phone call saying he was done. At 2 I called and he was just going in. At 4 still no call so I went to pick up my dog. Everyone had left and locked the door. Who knows how long they had my dog in that cage for. Will not go back.

Good location in the NW for aquarium stuff. I usually go to Pisces, but this is a solid substitute if you can't drive that far, and it's miles better than petsmart. Also, they sometimes have larger rocks and driftwood for aquarium decor that Pisces does not stock. Finally, the staff are amazing and very knowledgeable/helpful

Very big store. I was going in to get a very specific item which I couldn't find. I don't believe they carry that brand. Received a few glances when I walked in but no staff personal came to ask if I needed help after wondering the aisles for 5 minutes. Store was very clean and bright. Probably wouldn't return

From the first call, I knew I would like this place. I went in to get my cat a collar and ID tag. A little pricy, for a small ID tag ($15) which is a drag, but you're paying for the engraving to, which is nicely done. All the staff is very kind and helpful. Solid place for all your pet needs

Great store, insanely friendly cashier, but a male associate wouldn't leave my girlfriend alone and stood there flirting for 20 mins. Literally right in front of me with no shame, it was hilarious but thanks to him we won't go back, because I found out later she was very bothered by it.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Will price match any brick and mortar store. One of the few pet stores with actual pets on display which seem to be well cared for. When we adopted our bird, they made the commitment to take back the animal if things didn't work out which is admirable.

I was at pet land yesterday with my cat for his hair cut, the groomer Shelly doesn’t know anything about pet grooming, she doesn’t know how to hold a cat my cat was tortured, may be she is ok with dogs but not with cats very disappointing experience. Store manager is very good.

I can't believe staff do not know how old the bunny is. It is your part of the responsibility to know well about his for the best care of the bunny before he gets foster care. I am really disappointed and hope that staff become more responsible for the safety of the pets!!

Close, convenient, good for when I need toys, dog leash, etc. Who I assume the manager there is always busy helping his team, seems like coaching, teaching, or supporting, which I see as fantastic. Friendly and team members usually friendly too. A good petland to stop by.

If I could I would rate this 0 stars. The groomer we got was shelby. She can't do her job properly. He attitude sucked and she canceled our appointment cause she didn't wanna do it. In the end our puppy looked very ugly after her first grooming. NEVER COMING BACK HERE.

Hit or miss to come here. Oftentimes looks like there is no staff and have to track them down to find something. Not very friendly or helpful staff, just wants you to pay and leave. Sometimes out of stock items and scarce selection. Membership helps you save though.

Fantastic service by a couple of very helpful caring young ladies. My son purchased a crested gecko from them and had some concerns. We went in today and left more informed and feeling much better. Highly recommend them for any reptile related needs

Pleasant, helpful staff. Always have nice stories to go with all their up for adoption pets. Each cat comes from a rescue society and is not bred for a pet store. The cat we adopted is super friendly and has a great home now. Thanks again!

Nice place to kill some time when the wife is in Michael's or Winners. Kids love the bunnies, guineas, birds, and even the fishies / lizards. We don't have a pet but fun to go anyways. If you want a grade A experience however, try Pisces!

I regularly use the Ñorth Hill location. They're great. Consistently genuinely friendly, competent, and attentive. Was in this neighborhood and needed a little kit kat food, so checked them out. Also great. Same owners. It figures. :)

It would be nice if they followed the hours that they have on there sighn and on there web sight. Instead of closing when ever they feel like it. Must remember to call there and see if they are going to be there before driving over.

I had my first dog groomed here for 12 years and now that I have a new puppy I’m thrilled to bring him to see Shelby or Jamie. They are terrific groomers. Very patient, kind and great with dogs. I highly recommend them.
