After I experienced a meltdown mid day, I struggled breathing properly but i shrugged it off and tried to sleep. Around 1:30am the next morning the breathing difficulty was still consistent if not worsened. Decided then to call an ambulance. I was told that I would be able to see a doctor to do further tests also get admitted but instead I was then taken to the psychologist at the hospital just asking me questions then told me they gonna make my discharge paper. I was so confused and shocked that I didn’t understand what to say. Later I told the psychologist that I was supposed to see a doctor as my breathing problem was still getting my nerves. Later I was told they arranged for me to see a doctor and nurse will come to see me. It was 5:30am and waited 30 mins already and I went by myself to check on the administration desk and I was told I might have to wait 8 hrs too. As I was so weak and knew won’t be able to wait that long so I asked them to prepare my discharge paper. Then I was also told they can arrange me to see doctor at 8am. I also denied to stay but I was convinced I will be allowed to see doctor at 8am. It was so hard for me to breathe and wait any longer, so I I went at 8:30 to ask again and was told it’s definitely me next. I waited till 9 and then someone comes to tell doctors start at 8 and patients are coming through, so keep waiting until they call you. Its 10am already and still waiting. The first thing why did they need to lie to very unwell patient who was willing to go home. 45 mins wait 45 mins turned into more than 6 hrs and still you never get to see a doctor. I told them earlier even its hard to wait 45mis but made me wait more than 6.5 hrs. As I was so uncomfortable and my breathing went worse and got one more panic attack. I told them I wanted to go home and get my paper ready. They kept on telling me they had lots of patients and everybody is waiting so I need to wait too. So finally they agreed to prepare my paper to get my signature and asked me to wait. And here again paper and paper man never returned for hours. And again they say they can give my discharge paper until I see doctor I just don’t understand before leaving my home when paramedics told me I am going to see doctor to run more tests and also said I might get admitted too but why did they send me to see physiologist and all ready to send me home without even doing any tests. I just wasted my time and huge amount of money for nothing.
I cannot fault the level of care and attention received at this hospital, twice for myself and twice for my grandmother with COPD. Approximately four years ago, my grandmother was visiting from Sydney and has COPD. In the early hours of the morning, she was struggling to breathe and I drove her straight to emergency. My grandmother was treated so well by the emergency staff and then again when she was moved to a ward. She was discharged with a full future care plan, including rehabilitation and nutrition plan. She was then admitted a few weeks later and received the same level of care. Most recently, I presented to emergency at about 3.30pm on a Friday afternoon with chest pain and numbness down the left side. I was taken straight to a bed and waited for an ECG machine. Before taken to the acute ward, I had had the first of two ECG tests and results explained to me. In the acute ward the nurses were lovely and even provided a sandwich when I said I hadn't eaten all day. I had three nurses in my stay, two in acute and one on the ward (two males and one female). Each one was caring, upbeat and extremely professional. I saw two Doctors who were both caring and explained everything to me carefully. During my admission, it was extremely busy, there were various people with police escorts and, despite this, I felt well cared for and at ease. Each member of staff reassured me that I had done the right thing to present to emergency and invited me back if I have any future concerns. Each time I go to this hospital, I feel so well taken care of. Thank you to all staff at the PA.
Have been here for a few days now, in ward 4D room 47 and every single Doctor, Nurse, Orderly and Food Service Attendant has been wonderful. The food is awesome! The nurses are so so lovely they truly are so caring and demonstrate the highest level of care and understanding. They are a credit to the hospital and a great example of how healthcare staff should treat patients. Some of the other hospitals should really try to replicate what this hospital is doing, because they are totally getting it right. In emergency upon arrival my eye was extremely sensitive to light leaving me holding a blanket over my head. One of the nurses came and got me and let me stay in one of the triage rooms inside emergency until it was time to see a doctor. This was so appreciated and resulted in me being able to get a few hours of sleep before being seen. Once I'd been seen by a doctor i had little wait time until I was straight in at the eye clinic and under the care of one of their specialists. The medical care was collaborative and caring and very sympathetic. The doctors were confident and knew exactly the right course of treatment to put me on. The senior doctor even diagnosed the name of the bug which my eye was infected with, correctly, before the lab had even got back to him to confirm. Just a massive thank you to the nursing & medical staff here, you really are doing an amazing job, keep up the good work. I wish I could remember all of the nurses names who cared for me because they deserve recognition for the way they carried out their work.
I recently attended this hospital with a very bad middle ear infection , the pain was unbearable and i waited nearly 4 hours and was only offered panadol during that time , When i finally saw a nurse i was told i would need a CT scan and that i would need to be put on an antibiotic drip , well i finally got the drip after another hour but no CT scan , the nurse's boss told him NO. Then after some more painful waiting and being told an ENT specialist would come and see me it took another hour to be seen by them and the so called specialist put me through the worst torture i had ever experienced , she sucked my ears out in the roughest manner and i nearly passed out from the pain. After that i was told i would now not be admitted with no explanation given , i can only assume there was no beds available. I was given a script and told i was free to go. Now i believe every member of the public is entitled to the best of care , treatment when they need to go to a hospital , if 10 patients attend and they all have to wait a very unreasonable 5-6 hours to be seen then it doesn't matter if 7 out of those ten get a good experience there , if 3 don't get a good experience , i being one of the 3 then i'm afraid it's an epic fail. Our public health system does not reflect that of a developed country in 2023 , It is deplorable , Broken . I am embarrassed to be an Australian seriously ... How can this so called lucky country be in such a 3rd world state when it comes to health care. I really hope i don't need a hospital again !
The services at this hospital was really and extremely poor. The waiting room at the emergency Area was packed with people from different background trying to get attended to and that’s was a hard. Me and my wife waited for 7 hours For the doctor to interview us and we were not informed that we didn’t need to be there. Because that doctor was busy and which is fine but at least have a courage to tell us that we should go home and resume some other time My wife was in serious pain and they give 2 medicine to calm her pain down which did not really help and told us to wait in the waiting room. So that’s what we did. 7 hours later no one came to check on my wife to see if her pain has decreased or increased what sort of hospital does that. But their answer was the doctor will be with you in 10- 15 minutes ok cool We waited and they did nothing, it’s like they didn’t care about the patients. And it wasn’t just us that was complaining others were as well. So I went to the counter to ask one of the nurses or workers on what’s going and I was pretty annoyed so I wasn’t happy at all, but the girl who came to talk me tried to make me look like I was attacking her about the situation like my wife is in pain all she kept telling was was to wait. Waiting is not the problem but at least give my wife something to ease the pain for now as we wait is that simple. So we left without being looked after. After coming at 11:00 am. Disappointed
I arrived from Cairns base hospital which is an excellent hospital after receiving initial treatment for terminal cancer I cannot speak any higher about the care and treatment I received. After many referrals from Cairns hospital and phone calls from myself 5 weeks later I eventually contacted the health ombudsman and within days was admitted and resumed chemotherapy, I also suffer PTSD quite servere and had many presentations to the emergency department, the oncologist spoke to me and said that he would not give any further treatment without offering any support or referral to another department I regret my behaviour at times, I also emailed liaison at the PA and they did not keep their telephone appointment with me, I have accepted that the PA hospital has chosen to abandoned me and I suppose I feel that I'm not worth them prolonging my life, I was given 12 months life expectancy with treatment which is up now, I thank the palliative care team who really care and understanding also very supportive I will die soon and am okay with that as the pain I suffer daily is more than I can bare. Terminal cancer and PTSD are equal to me if doctors do not understand another field I believe they really should refer to someone else and not play God with people's lives.
Attended ED by ambulance for severe chest pain, checked and said was fine. “It wasn’t” I trusted that though and carried on - next thing the Ambos called out 2 days later I went to a private ED and discovered I have a collapsed lung and pneaumonia - went home with antibiotics, only to return back to private ED with worsening symptoms - on oxygen and meds to stabilise, my private health fund did not cover me, in tears I was frightened of what’s to come, they said they would transfer me to PAH , where I would be put thru the previous 8 hrs work all over again. My family self funded my stay. It is disgusting the way people are becoming afraid and scared to go or trust a public ED , we should feel safe in your care, not have just blood test, blood pressure xray given , checked and told your fine , go home and see GP next week - I pay a Medicare levy every year, im paying private health every month.perhaps Remove the KPI’s , and bring back actual care for patients - it’s time people start comsiderinh doing small claims. If I have to end up back there for this condition again as it’s not good still and I can’t afford another ED private visit ! I will be expecting the right tests, care and follow up as to what was done in the private ED.
Never in my life have I been refused by an ER. I went in last night at 3am with severe chest pains. I told them I have a history of being hospitalised with heart complications and the first woman I spoke to was understanding and wanted to pull me back asap but I needed to provide personal info and sent me to the next window. The second woman I spoke to, insulted and berated me loudly because I couldn’t afford to pay the whopping $1.3k walk-in bill upfront BEFORE being seen; all because I didn’t have insurance. I’ve heard so many people talk down on the American health care system but I’ve never once been denied health care because of not having insurance. They just send the bill AFTER providing medical care which I said would be fine because I was more concerned about my health at the moment but she said they wouldn’t even see me until I paid them upfront. What a disgrace of a system.
I have spent sometime in and out of the PA with repeat procedures. I must say once you start working with a good team of doctors/nurses and your all on the same page it differently helps with your recovery. Some days are high lights however it's not hard to hear staff consistently pickering, gossiping, and alittle rude - yes it's not an easy job and your under paid but the walls are thin. Weekends are the most uncomfortable dealing with agency nurses who seem to miss your med times or give there too sorts on matters etc. All and all I'm not trying to degrade but to make it clear - you need to push your buzzer and wait, be kind as your in there hands, do your research and learn about your symptoms and what you meds archive and ask lots of questions as you are important also. Most thankful to the Gastroenterology team for 4E ward, level 4. C
Absolutely terrible experience. I walked in at 6pm with blurred vision in my right eye and pain going up the side of my neck and I had to sit in the waiting room for over 3 hours. I ended up walking out as I was so annoyed as I was told that it will still be another 1-2 hours. So I’ve had to go home with the stress off maybe having a stroke or something else with no medical help at all, absolutely ridiculous, I should have been up on the triage list I do understand that it is a busy hospital but if someone comes in saying that can’t see out of there right eye as a 22 year old you’d think that you’d be seen by a doctor fairly quick. But no complete opposite. Now I have to go to bed hoping I don’t have a stroke and wait to see a gp tomorrow due to there absolute negligence. The medical system in Australia is outrageous :(
I had a hemorrhage type stroke in the ER room after being denied the usage of Ryan's Rule, staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. Since the stroke I have been refused triage and denied medical treatment every time I attempt to present to emergency with the Doctor's very rudely telling me they aren't going to treat me and to go home during my acute medical episode which included my brain actively hemorrhaging. Have only ever received treatment when the Police have done an EEA which involved the staff drugging with me high amounts of Morphine the first time and Fentanyl the second time making me unconscious for the EEA before releasing me outside which resulted in me getting hit by a car. Incredibly disgusting behavior by an abhorrent group of staff and pathetic excuses for Nurses and Doctors.
I am genuinely disgusted with my experience in the ED last night. I observed multiple people who were in genuine need for help leave due to the long wait times. I witnessed staff being dismissive and rude to those waiting. Triage alone took around 30 minutes to even be seen. While I had to wait a long time (around 7 hours to be seen) I understood that based on the needs of others. However, once I was “in” I was seen by a student nurse (she was very polite and helpful) who mentioned they were going to run some tests on me. So I waited, for another 1.5 hours only to be told by a doctor that essentially they weren’t going to run any tests and that I should go back to my GP. I understand under funding. But my God. This hospital was worse than what I’ve seen in third world countries.
My GP sent me to the Eye clinic as an emergency on Tuesday the 28th April, under the impression that it closed at 5pm.I rang ahead and found it closed at 3:30, so being of a practical nature I resigned myself and my son who was driving to settle in for a long wait in the emergency room. The staff were all very helpful, polite and efficient, from the person at reception, the nurse who checked me in, to the Dr's Lena, Kevin and Scott . Was seen remarkably quickly, as I saw ambulance after ambulance ferrying patients in. The following day I had a trip to the eye clinic. Again the staff where all helpful, kind and efficient , explaining everything that was happening. Thanks to Dr's Will and Stuart for their expert help that day. These people do a great job !
Absolutely appalling treatment of my daughter. She was not drunk, she had her drink spiked. You wouldn't know that tho because you don't test for drug spikings. Your verbal treatment of her was disgusting. You have no idea about peoples backgrounds when they arrive to you and think you know more them than their own family does. Some young people don't drink until they can't walk, and they have very specific and personal reasons as to why they dont drink too much, and they actually do get their drink spiked. You are a disgrace to the health system. You were shouting at her and shaking her. She could hear everything and remembers everything but could not move or respond to you. Formal complaints to follow
Never have I come across a more disorganized mess when dealing with hospitals. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing, processes are not followed properly or clearly understood by those working in Admin/Bookings. There is a huge disconnect between what the Dr’s tell you in terms of time frames and the reality of it. I have come to understand that every time I have to deal with the PA, there’s going to be some sort of problem, usually created by someone not following through on their job, outmoded processes or people not understanding their job. Whoever is running the RBH, which by comparison is run like a Swiss watch, needs to go over to the PA and fix it, it’s a disaster.
My wife was bitten by a brown snake in our little garden at Corinda in Brisbane on Friday afternoon the 29th of January 2022. We called the ambulance and they arrived within a few minutes. The ambulance team had just got her into the ambulance when she had a violent seizure. If they had not not been in attendance I fear she would not be with us now. As it is she recovered after 24 hours at the PA and was allowed to go home. We are very grateful to the ambulance men and woman who attended us and also the staff at Emergency who looked after my wife. The Doctors the Nurses and the other staff could not have been more friendly or professional. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
We waited four years for our surgery for lungs, and yet it’s still not finished. Every time we’ll go at 6am and wait until 5pm when they suddenly tell us the surgery was cancelled today, the same thing happened three times. After our surgery was cancelled we asked for a medical certificate, however, we needed to wait a very long time so we decided to just let them email it to us. We needed the certificate by the second day morning but the email takes 2-3 days to come through. We went back to the hospital several times to ask for a hard copy but they just told us to ask our GP and that the doctors were busy. The service at the front desks was also terrible.
Terrible and inconsiderate. I’ve been on the waitlist for wisdom teeth removal for over 2 years. Finally got a letter in the mail telling me to come to the hospital for the removal. I waited 4 months from receiving the letter to get a text saying it’s been postponed another month. Finally after waiting almost 3 years, i wait at the hospital for 3 hours, get an x ray, wait another 2 hours, just for the doctor to put me on another waitlist. This is public funded, nobody cares about you or your problems and they especially don’t care about your time. Shove your waitlist down your mothers throat.
I understand there are priorities over me. But I’ve been here since 3PM yesterday, and have watched everyone be dealt with & leave happily within no time.. it’s now hit 20Hrs sitting in this ER. I have watched every single person that came before me since I got here in the Ambulance leave & new patients that come hours after me, get admitted before me. No sleep & was told no food since 10PM last night for a surgery that still has not happened !!!!!! It is now 11:42AM. All I need is a few stitches they said SO WHY HAVE I BEEN WAITING FOR OVER 20Hrs JUST FOR “A CLEAN & FEW STITCHES” ???!!!
I visited Emergency department in the PA hospital due to my injured knee. I also had an urgent referral from the doctor. I walked in at 11.05 am and walked out at 6.45 pm It was a very long wait. X-ray and CT scan were done. I also needed to do MRI but alas hospital offers it only to VIP and it is opened only during the day hours. After waiting so many hours I received the result ' no fracture'. The rest is up to me again. GP appointment again, MRI appointment after! My knee is swollen and it is painful to walk and yet I couldn't get the right diagnosis straight away from the hospital!
I spent most of Friday Aug 10 having a procedure at the PA Urology Dept. I would just like to say what a very positive experience the whole day was. From the receptionists to the nurses to the doctors everyone was highly professional but in a relaxing friendly way. Very impressed by everything apart from the paper undies! On Nov 19 I had my prostate removal surgery and again couldn't be more impressed by the friendly professionalism from all involved - wonderful dedicated and competent people. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff - I am most grateful for your care.
I understand pa hospital is public and patients have little or no say in which ward or bed your allocated. BUT as a female with different ethnicities is not ideal to be put in a 4 bedroom ward with three men. How can a female feel comfortable especially when you go to washroom and you need a pull up due to your medical condition. Then not be given the courtesy of a nurse standing outside the door to make sure the male does not enter. Or even contemplating have a shower with the worry about will the male patient enter.Theres lots more I could comment on but I'll that for later.
Sadly, the floor had a sugar drink spilt and it was NEVER cleaned up in my 5 days in . The wards mixed up my medicines, I bought it to the nurse attention and they said that's all you have been written up for. I asked them to check the dose from the ward I just came from. Sorry that's all they have written you up for so bad luck. My meds had been cut in half! No good when you have been on this medication for 30years!!! I am grateful but was so disappointed in the cleanliness and respect for the patients knowledge not taken on board. That's a very quick summary. ❤️
Went to check in at emergency to have my cast replaced as it was put on incorrectly as advised by my gp was asked to do rat test outside sat down . Then had my phone call interrupted by the nurse SYBIL THOMAS yelling at me threatening to have me removed for swearing on the phone ? I don't understand how my personal phone call affects him or others in an outside area with a low tone. He also did not want to rat test me just had me sitting there I went and told nurses inside and security and I had decided to leave as this was my second bad experience in two visits.
Was taken here with a deep laceration and cut tendon in my hand. The staff, from admin right through to surgeon, were AMAZING! Every member of staff treated me with compassion, respect and care and I cannot fault a single moment of my stay. Surgery was postponed due to staff shortages, which is to be expected right now, but the care and consideration was second to none. They made sure I had every single thing I needed. I especially like how nurses use a small torch to do their obs so as not to startle or wake you. I cannot rate this hospital high enough.
Has PEOLPE endure a pain feeling power less? This is emergency department on the princes alexandra. PA It’s a shame that a develop country like AUSTRALIA, have a disgusting medical public System that works as bad as a 3 world county. Seeing my son almost & hours for a second night trying to find answers to his terrible pain, and been sent home first time, just with pain killers, and still waiting apter 7 hours is an abuse to the basics right. All the money that politicians and corruption use and not improving the medical System.
My partner spent half a day on a bed in a hallway after being rushed to hospital for a potential catastrophic bleed!!! No dr. Turned up ,, no cup of tea no nurse was just abandoned??? Also was not fed for at least a day? I have come to visit 2days later, he IS in a bed now , no water to drink , hand cleaner empty , oh and the tea lady didn’t arrive today It is day 3 and nothing resolved ? The staff who are on are trying to cope , actually one lady made us a cup of tea , and seems the only worker here ? She is lovely !
This hospital was outstanding. The nursing staff in ward 5C had to run 3/4 Of the time . The entire team from the multiple specialists registrars doctors physios etc etc were just incredible . I came into this ward gravely ill and this team fixed me and the did their jobs superbly and with a degree of humor at times that all but made it fun. The food was fine just the entire experience gave one the feeling that the care and accountability for your recovery was in fine hands - and it was !!! Thank you and God bless .
My mother has had 4 stints in the P A Hospital in the last 10 years. In every one of these stays she was treated with the utmost care and respect. The first time she was in they literally saved her life. She finally passed away peacefully in June this year. The staff in the MAPU ward and Medical wards were fantastic. The palliative care team were also amazing. Every person who had anything to do with mum’s care went above and beyond to make her comfortable and well cared for. Thank you P A Hospital for everything.
Thanks for everyone in PA Hospital for their excellent work and providing a very professional, caring and friendly environment. To all the nurses, doctors, admin staff, cleaners, food handlers, staff who transport me from one area to another especially those in MAPU Unit, you guys are doing a fantastic job. Special thanks to Joy Oyelade for her excellent work during my stay. She's very friendly, caring and passionate about her work. Special thanks also to Shelly and Ben from the Ambulance team. You guys rock
E.D Mental health are the worst. After Having had to deal with them for many years with family members. They have failed and are incompetent to say the least. You can't even diagnose properly, every time a different diagnosis. Instead of keeping a person in to correctly diagnose you discharge them, even when brought in with paramedics and police. We have a daughter currently in n.s.w. mental health because they know what they are doing. So I guess we have to go there to get the best possible treatment.
Just wanted to say how amazing the staff from volunteers, food assistants, parking assistant, admin staff, doctors and nurses at PA have been to my mum and I during this tough time for our family. CCU are beautiful caring souls taking care of my dad even though he can be cheeky at times. His heart attack shocked us all. Having these amazing staff and individuals around us during this time hasn't been missed and we really appreciate every bit of it. I take my hat off to you all. Thank you.
Hospital staff was fantastic, I was at the DSTU ward for almost 8 hours and they took good care of me. I knew I was in good hands. I had pre admission consultation the other day and saw 8 different staffs-blood test nurse, ECG specialist, physiotherapist, anaesthetist, pharmacist, doctor, radiographer all in 6 hours. They were very busy but they've shown professionalism and utmost earnestness in their service. I want to appreciate their good efforts and thank them. May God bless these lovely people.
The PA hospital is one of the greatest medical facilities in this country. The people leaving negative reviews and one star ratings lacks perspective and unfortunately reflects worse on them than it does on this hospital. The ICU nurses, staff and doctors are incredible human beings who do some of the toughest jobs imaginable and yet they remain soft, gentle and compassionate. Words cannot describe the quality people they are and I want to thank each one of you for the amazing work you do.
Just wanted to give a big shout out to all the staff for putting my leg back together. There was one nasty nurse that was picking fights with patients but the good far outweighed her. I had one nurse that was absolutely amazing! Beautiful, funny and a really good chat (I should have asked her out ). Just over 13 weeks since the break now so I've over the worse part but still a long way to go for a full recovery. Oh, and that amazing nurse took one of the pictures for me .
The triage nurses are not polite or empathetic whatsoever, they are very preoccupied with gossiping and getting coffees for themselves and cannot seem to multitask, hence the ridiculous wait times. Horrible. Took over 5 hrs to see a doctor for my international student who had severe chest pain. They sent us home saying it was stress. A day and a half later we are now at Greenslopes Hospital and she is being treated for myocarditis. Well done PA for your absolute lack of care.
As a resident from Sandgate it was only due to unfortunate events and a bad experience at the RBWH that I arrived at the PA Hospital.. Events that I am now glad happened due to the awesome treatment and service I received from the positive and professional staff at the surgery clinic. The extra mile all the staff went too to make my stay so pleasant and comfortable was awesome. I can not fault anything. I can only say "THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!" #MyFirstSurgeryEva
Please don't visit this hospital if you want to save your patient life. We have admitted my mum and it's been 10 days they didn't start the treatment as they are waiting for MRI to be done for diagnosis and everyday they say their radiology dept is busy with emergencies but my question is really..?? for last 10 days you must be joking.. and because they don't know the diagnosis so they can't start the treatment. Imagine we are on capped international insurance.
My mum stayed in PA she didn't have much chance of living . We were all hopeless but by the will of God and help of all doctors ,nurses ,surgeons ,physio and everyone working in this hospital She improved day by day . The best hospital in Brisbane and the best services. Thanks to all staff specially Dr Tom and team. Special thanks to Ward 4A staff. We appreciate everything you have done to help mum fir achieving recovery .Thanks again . God bless u all .Naheed
I had to attend the PA two nights in a row last week with a loved one. The staff in Emergency were fantastic, so empathetic and kind. The other staff we had contact with were great as well, and having only experienced Emergency at two other hospitals in Brisbane in 10 years, I could not believe the difference in how we were treated, like actual human beings. Thank you to everyone who helped us on Wednesday the 14th and Thursday the 15th of October.
Came here a few years ago when I was suffering chest pain. They immediately took me in without question and admitted me for help. I stayed for few days and the staff as well as doctors who looked after me were super efficient and welcoming. I really felt comfortable while recovering there. At night, I also felt safe while recovering there. Finally got discharged and would like to say thank you to the people who helped me recover! All the best! =)
I had to have a day procedure here this week. Was not feeling comfortable having to go to a hospital with Covid around but from the moment I was met at the front entrance by confident smiling staff I felt better . The staff on the Radiation ward are truly amazing bright bubbly and caring . I would like to thank them for making me feel at ease . Keep up the good work I appreciate all you are doing especially during this difficult time.
I have nothing but praise for the dedicated staff and the services they provide. The high level of care , kindness and support they have given me through my breast cancer treatment has been absolutely amazing. I feel so humbled and grateful to all the team who managed my treatment and follow up care. To the many Nurses, doctors , physio, OT, oncology, radiology and all the reception teams , thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I had a Neurological appointment, first appointment with the hospital, over the phone. Would have been nice if the consulting doctor had read my case file prior to the call. She was bumbling through the call and even felt the need to ring me back with advice. How disheartening to think these people are the best the PA has to offer. Left feeling that ultimately I would let my condition go, as it was a complete waste of time.
Currently sat in Emergency. A nurse found me on the floor and brought me to ED in a wheelchair where I've been sitting for the last seven hours in 8/10 pain. Was told 2 hours ago Id be next seen. Was asked once if I needed pain relief and then denied it the second time it was needed. All I need is painkillers to get me through the next couple of days until I can walk again. 2 stars bc the staff are nice about it.
Had over 7 visits and this is by far the friendliest, sweetest and kindest hospital in Brisbane. Makes the Mater staff behaviour seems nasty in comparison. There’s too much sugar in the food but that’s my only negative thing to say. If you’re ever sick or in trouble medically, go the extra kilometres and be treated with love, compassion, dignity and respect, always. Absolute heroes and I cannot thank them enough.
Got sent to PA from Toowoomba , because Toowoomba said PA could get my Defib in faster, just on 2 weeks sitting here , getting cancelled every day Food is ok , but they get the order wrong nearly 8/10 times, even stuff I'm allergic to? Nurses though are top notch Seen the amount of entitled people they look after , where as I'd slap them down , they do it with a smile So waiting for op 1/10 Food 2/10 Nurses 9/10
My partner was involved in an accident and transferred to Emergency department via QAS. Staff wouldn’t let me in and also was advised that I had to wait outside of the building. It was heavy raining. They didn’t even check who is the next of kin/person to notify so I was also anxious about how they were going to update me with his condition. I also found staff at EC entrances were not professional and abrupt.
Love the nurses and the team of doctors. Today was my first time going there to get my eyes diagnosed and i was so happy to see how polite and kind they all were .No problems at all with the attitude of whole PA Team. Although only thing on the downside was the amount of time i had to wait in between my checkups. I cant blame staff for that . I think they did their best but our government system dont.
I had a stroke near the end of 2019. The care I received from P A hospital was beyond my expectations. Not only did the awesome ambulance staff, surgeons, nurses etc save my life but the rehabilitation afterwards was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't have asked for better. My family and I owe so much to everyone at the hospital for saving my life. I will never forget what you all have done for me.
13 Health told me to go to emergency as I have Covid and bad chest pains. I waited for 3 hours after the first two hours I was asked if I was given pain relief I said no so the nurse gave me Panadol and nurofen. I waited another hour before walking out. I understand wait times can be long. But if the hospital was so busy im sure the staff couldn’t sit around and laugh for majority of the time.
To the nurses and care staff Thank you so much for your care You are angels And omg I forgot I get meals here too I’m having my potato & leek soup from last night. My Complaints to the chef The Drs that have been so thorough in their fields. The cleaners that do such a beautiful job in keeping this hospital nice n clean. I can’t thank you all enough for the work your teams have done for me.
I went there in an ambulance and waited for hours to be seen. I had seen a doctor they did exrays and they sent me home and said I would be alright in a couple of weeks. The next day I went to my doctor and he said that it looks like something is really wrong. I now have to have surgery on my shoulder with a total replacement shoulder done.i would like to say though the staff were great.
Have never felt more safe or cared for in any other medical facility. Entry to exit, every single person treated me with dignity, empathy and genuine care. Above and beyond. A special shout out to all surgeons, doctors, nursing staff and everyone in between who are a part of the liver transplant team. Thank you for being such incredible, kind hearted and patient people. Real life angels.
I headed into the PA emergency department after having surgery at a private hospital earlier in the day. I was in excruciating pain and very unwell! The place was very busy but that didn’t stop from the exceptional care and understanding. Each nurse + physician listened and helped make me as comfortable as possible. I always head to the PA in emergencies and this time didn’t disappoint!
Worlds laziest and noisiest night staff on that particular night, Day staff are mostly great, food is good enough. Would not be surprised if some they're hitting pills. Wait times are pathetic Had a serious accident 28 of February and a mid 20s black haired pretty nurse/orderly stole 800 dollars cash out of my pants. As if they don't make enough money, no support from me you'll get.
My daughter was in a deliberately run over by a drunk driver and was put in a medical induced coma. She underwent brain surgery to save her life....After 15 days asleep she finally woke up...She's been awake for 15 days and she will start rehab soon...Thanks to the doctors and nurses for there amazing work to save my daughter.xOur family is so grateful you bought her back to us.x
I had tried to get onto the Ophthamology clinic and waited on for 45 minutes and then I was cut off. Far from impressed! I realise they are probably very busy the switch which I then rang back through they couldn’t get through either and then it was 4 o’clock when they finish. Also asked if an email could be sent through to that department but informed they don’t have email.
Hi hospital team I am very impressed with the welcoming service received by the reception desk named Vikki level 4 endoscopy floor was outstanding. I was here with my partner to follow up endoscopy Much more I appreciate she offered a coffee to me very delighted. The overall staff from the hospital was very helpful. Once again thank you for your kindness Regards Rohney gomes
This was my fourth time at this hospital for post-surgery exercise, today I had two other people's records on my file. The staff member that was assigned to me, was confused because of this. I was there for my back exercise, not my hip or knee. You can only blame the Qld health office staff for this. THANK GOD I WAS NOT HAVING A OPERATION. ANOTHER MISTAKE FROM QLD HEALTH
I was sent there with my GP for a ultrasound and a x-ray on my left leg & ankle with a referral and it took 3hours to be seen in the emergency area and another hour and a half hour in another waiting area, why could I not been directley to those department. To have those tests done previously to waiting 3hours,this is not triage through your department it's a joke. By By
My Missz used to work at PA night shifts. Creepy security guard started hitting on her and made her very uncomfortable. She had to quit and start working in a different hospital. PA security should sort themselves out. Their job is to protect vulnerable people. They should make the staff feel safe. But unfortunately, it has been the other way around in our case.
Brilliant hospital with kind, caring and friendly staff. Quick and efficient process. It seemed like everyone was very cohesive and knew what they were doing. Triage waiting time was about standard for most of the public hospitals I've been to, however once I had a bed I was well looked after. Very high commendations. Very impressed. Thank you all very much!!
Although the wait was appalling (12hrs ) the staff once I was in were nothing short of amazing. It was great to see the doctors who were attentive and kind and I understand how busy they are but the nurses at the PA could run the world! We are a super lucky country with an amazing health care system (albeit the extremely long waiting time).
Anyone giving more than 1 star are definitely staff lying about the 'service'. This place is shocking. So much spent renovating and extending the place. How about training your staff in basic humanity? I honestly can't believe how horrendous the wait times are and the contempt staff have for patients. Will definitely skip this place in future.
I am English and currently travelling Australia. I went to this hospital today with a broken elbow extremely stressed about how to go about healthcare in a new country and the expensive of it. I was quickly reassured by the triage nurses, every doctor and nurse I spoke to was so reassuring. I couldn’t recommend the hospital highly enough.
Why the hell make appointment times, if you have no chance of keeping them. Had an 8.30 appt and was seen at 11.45 for a 3min talk, which seemed VERY rushed like they didnt care, and I didn't even see my own doctor, it was a trainee!! As she said he was busy!!! Absolutely the worst hospital I have been to,the queues weren't even that big.
Spent a month in Ward 2b with a broken neck. You wouldn't be able to find a more professional, personable team of medical, nursing and allied practitioners. Due to their dilligence and application of their skills I was able to walk from the ward. Thank you to all the front line and support line workers who made my recovery a success.
Very grateful to all the Doctors and Nurses Team Breast Cancer ,thanks hospital PA for taking care and support for me during past five years. Very caring and polite. Oncology chemotherapy ,radiotherapy staff are amazing and big thanks to Dr. Kate Cuff and Dr Vujovic Petar excellent Surgeon .Dr Gerard Bayley skill Surgeon.
They Lack duty of care. I was left alone for 3 hours. A girl with a similar problem was given a blood test and discharged. I was left there helpless. What I experienced is racism. The Doctor kept raising her voice so I left and recovered on my own. PA Hospital is the worst Hospital in Brisbane. Don't bother going there
Gratitude and congratulations for the QAS to PAH ED who demonstrated great skill. Ward 1D made me feel part of a team. The nursing staff were totally on form as both practitioners and educators. Thank you to a medical team who didn't pull punches or cut corners. Other specialists and workers, too. Just brilliant care.
Thanks for your help and support during my stay The best hospital ever and the best doctors, staff, nurses, team leaders and all workers .Special thanks to everyone in ward 4A. I recommend this hospital for everyone who is sick and needs treatment. Thanks again I appreciate your help and support.God bless you all
Thanks to the good staff at PA Hospital for dispelling the expectation that the public system is not adequate – I can only give praise for the smoothness of administration, friendly patient service, and very efficient medical treatment and very capable staff. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Well done PA!
The medical care I received was first class, It's a pity that the substances they call meals are given to patients. It was inedible and I could not eat it a member of the staff looked at it and asked if I would like a sandwich. That w as soggy and also inedible, I wonder what our premier had for lunch?
Big shout out for looking after my husband Ray after a heart attack. Special mention to the Coronary care Unit . To all staff surgeons etc especially all shifts of nursing staff- a big thankyou from me and Ray. Excellent care, and devoted care. Medals deserved all round!! All staff unsung heroes.
Trying to book a Tele health consultation or even to get trough to endoscopy or gastroscopy is a total nightmare. I've been trying for days.. Call the hospital, they connect me trough and nobody answers. So conclusion: Hope your results are fine and if they're not.. you will never know.
Giving 1 star because I cannot give zero. WORST emergency department I have ever seen. Waited 15 hours to be seen and were told to go home and continue doing nothing, when my sisters face was burning in pain and bleeding. Were sent here for a "better team" and what a disappointment.
Great staff great doctors. Oncology services were great they try to keep you positive even though your going through hell. They always have a smile on their faces and don't mind a bit of cheekiness. I'm so glad my mum and I came through here. They are the best at what they do.
As I have an ongoing battle with Kidney Stones I have been on ward 4A many many times. I cannot say enough about the Nurse's on this ward. They are amazing, well trained and their bedside manner is implacable and reassuring. Thank you all for the care you have given me. ❤️
The hospital is great I found all the staff extremely helpful. I spent 8 days in ward 1C and found every nurse extremely professional in their duties and manners respect shown equally to all patients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart great job 5 stars not enough
Thank you to everyone who took care of me recently, in particular Ward 5 and the Oncology Department. Your thoroughness and attention to detail was appreciated in getting my blood and serology screened, spinal cord and bone marrow tested. Your staff are exceptional.
Nursing staff on the ward 4C were bloody brilliant. Very caring, compassionate after I had emergency surgery..... Sadly over the years I've spent many a time in hospitals in 3 states and can safely say the nursing staff here far outshine their counterparts...
Once again, the coronary care unit at the PA hospital, have saved this Santa's bacon. So much indebted to you all, from emergency Dept, to coronary unit, to to coronary team who gave me another stent and to the awesome recovery team, I owe you all so much.
Why QLD Health declined every day. I am here with my chest pain, but no one bothers me. I tried to check with the nurses but here answers until you are here you ok. I felt they are waiting for worst happen with me then they are providing me care.
It's like a WW2 ruin, 2023 and the hospital is disgusting. Stop the corruption QLD govt renew this hospital and clean it up. Use your fund better and stop shoving those top exec with higher salary package while ur hospital looks like a WW2 ruin
I was really appalled at having to wait almost 5 hours to have a piece of wood removed from my eyeball. Parking is non-existent and when you're told to drive yourself to the hospital by your GP as its an emergency to find no parking creates
I just released from PAH after over a week as an in patient undergoing diagnosis and treatment for testicular cancer. The whole time I was there my wife and I were amazed at not only the attentiveness of the nurses and dr, but the service
Absolutely appalling especially the icu. My son is dying and the staff are treating me like a second class citizen. Not allowing me proper access to my son. Not allowing family members to visit or closest friends. No phone calls allowed
I went into the ER in great pain. I had a very short wait time due to (what I didn't know at the time) the urgency of my condition. I found all staff friendly and my pre-op chat to the surgeon made me feel safe and in good hands. I hate
They have made me feel like an outcast. Was supposed to have gone to theatre yesterday then told this morning it is now 3pm so looks like won’t get done till tomorrow. You go to nurses desk for Panadol the staff walks straight pass you.
Transplant surgical, medical teams are excellent and highly experienced as well as all nursing staff who are kind and caring day and night. Great post op care where you are closely monitored for total health. Car parking is expensive
Thanks so much for looking after me when my heart went too fast. The nurse who I met before recognised that I was not well at triage and took me in straight away. I was not feeling well at all. So grateful for such capable staff.
almost no vegan options for food, in 16 hours ive had a banana, a roll of bread and like 3 almonds, yet they want to take more blood tests when i dont even have enough food to produce said blood. i need to get out of here asap.
I had half my liver removed 2 years ago and I can recommend doctor hodgkinson and he's team highly enough, the care from day one to now they have been fantastic, thank you to all at the hospital you all saved my life thank you
The patient waited for 10 hours and still couldn’t be seen. The severe pain in his body was unbearable. He asked the doctor for painkillers, but there was still no result. The patient is not your family, so it doesn’t matter?
Have a broken toe, refused to be seen by a doctor since I didn't have the funds to pay, no one is wearing masks (um hello covid is still a thing). Just dissapointed with this hospital as I've traveled so far to see a doctor.
What a Great team of professionals, Couldn't fault anything. The team of professionals here are the best, my Wife was admitted last Tuesday week and received the absolute best of care. I can't speak highly enough of them.
Honestly had a good experience (finally) by the emergency department nurse Katie a few weeks ago when I almost cut my finger off. She was so lovely and let me ramble. She took amazing care of me and I'm forever grateful
Thank you for the care you gave my husband when there. A big thank you to the nurses and Doctors that rang me to report on my husbands condition and welfare. Thank you doesn't seem enough your all so much appreciated.
The guys in the radiology nuclear science dept are so awesome. From Nicola , Leonard,Leroy and Richard. Sorry I did not catch all names. They made my imaging so easy, a fun group of dedicated staff. Thank you guys.
