I am sharing this recent experience mainly to enable more people to interact with the Wesley Hospital to make better expense choices. We are parents of a toddler that had an incident on Sunday April 2022 and as such we rushed to Wesley Hospital Emergency Department for treatment. Fortunately, our child suffered no severe consequences but only a small cut which involved 7-8 stitches nicely done by the doctor on duty. At the checkout counter we were told the total chargeable expense was 347 AUD (we were also informed to ask the Medicare later for reimbursement of 150 AUD or so I cannot remember clearly). We fully agreed, paid it on the site in full and still deeply appreciate the help from the great medical staff there. Upon the request of the doctor, we paid the second visit over a week later to remove the stitches. We were under the impression (from the doctor of the first trip) that the second visit was to be of minimal cost or nothing until we were told at the checkout counter that the second visit’s expense is 340 AUD. I asked if that is the right amount. The lady behind the counter confirmed. I said I can pay this amount for sure but can she help me check if this is their standard charge item for removing stitches in the Hospital as the second trip involves no complexity and much less work than last time. After a while working on her computer without saying anything, she said “Now it is $173 AUD.” There was NO Explanation about the reduction of charge or anything else. I frankly did not know how to make sense of it. So I asked for clarification as to why the price had mysteriously halved. She admitted having made a mistake in the handover from a previous colleague because she was told to charge us normally and the records made no indication to her that this was a follow up visit to an earlier procedure. I said we told the previous lady before check-in this was our second visit based on the request of the doctor and that is why we were not asked to fill out a form again. Soon afterwards, we paid the requested amount, thanked her and left. Advice from an ordinary person for anyone that does not like surprises while seeking medical services from Wesley Hospital: 1. Pay what you know and know what you pay. I was daring enough to insist that the lady behind the counter to help me check again whether that was the right standard for their charge even if she was quite defensive. I would probably not have the knowledge, time or even confidence as a layman to challenge the health professionals’ opinions on medical costs, if this were a major procedure involving much greater complexity and more procedures happening across a long time spectrum? Had we known the second visit would require us to go to a farther health institution with potentially more health risk exposure to us and a cost around 340 or 170 AUD to remove stitches, why shouldn’t we simply go to a nearby GP clinic to do it much more efficiently and inexpensively? 2. Hospital is a people business. I suggest Wesley Hospital draw a customer experience journey inside itself and check if there are any irritations, confusions, and agitations that the customers may feel in the process of receiving treatment, large or small. After carefully reading the three visits' expense breakdown sheets, to say I am confused is the best. Having a caring and reasonably charging hospital in my neighbourhood ultimately benefits me and my family. Maybe Wesley always aims for care and quality. At the moment, sadly to tell, what I saw and felt based on my three visits to Wesley Hospital generally does not gain it a long term customer here, unless we are out of choices next time.
Wesley Day Surgery. I had the misfortune to attend this so called service I arrived and was lead into the Day surgery area at 12.30 pm as instructed by my Doctor. At 2.pm I was attended to by a nurse who gave me the clothing required for surgery. She went through my details as required . In forming me that she was going home at 2.30 so had to get it all done quickly. There was no room for me in the surgery waiting area so for an hour I was dressed in surgical gear sitting out in the waiting room chair. 3 .pm or so they at last had a vacancy and I was moved to the next level. A area that could only be described as a conveyancing belt , 2 rows of chairs, given a blanket and told to wait. TV was on for your entertainment. 5 pm before a nurse goes home she kindly rings my next of kin to say I probably will not be ready to be collected by him till around 9.pm 6.00 PM I was sill waiting my turn. No food or drink since 8 am. No communication from my Doctor or a nurse telling what is happening. Last person still sitting in a cold chair around 6.30 I am moved to surgery. In the recovery area I wake , walk to the bathroom . Am given a sandwich and coffee. Take one bight of food a mouthful of drink . Told my son has arrived . Dressed and push out in a wheel chair as I was to week to walk No time to recover or even take a breath . Last nurse in room Last patient kicked out.. No blood pressure reading . She must have rung my son when I was still under the anaesthetic. Hospital entrance closed everybody gone home. No sign of my doctor who was supposed to contact my son after surgery. A disgracefully experience- FROM A SO CALLED CARING PRIVATE HOSPITAL .
I am so grateful to The Wesley Hospital and their incredible staff for the care and support they provided to my mother during her 19-year battle with cancer. The hospital's commitment to patient-centered care was evident from the moment we arrived, and it continued throughout my mother's treatment and eventual transition to palliative care. The palliative care team at The Wesley Hospital was truly exceptional. They provided compassionate, holistic care that addressed not only my mother's physical needs but also her emotional and spiritual well-being. They worked closely with us to develop a personalized care plan that respected my mother's wishes and helped her maintain her dignity and quality of life. Beyond the palliative care team, all of the staff at The Wesley Hospital were kind, caring, and professional. From the doctors to the nurses to the support staff, everyone went above and beyond to make my mother feel comfortable and supported. The facilities at The Wesley Hospital were also top-notch, with modern equipment and comfortable, spacious rooms that provided my mother with everything she needed during her stay. Overall, I cannot recommend The Wesley Hospital highly enough. They are truly a world-class hospital with a deep commitment to patient-centered care and a team of exceptional healthcare professionals. Thank you to everyone at The Wesley Hospital who helped my mother and our family during this difficult time.
After a good experience in ward 7E of the Wesley hospital, the emergency department turned out to be an absolute debacle. I had had a catheter removed earlier in the day and at 9.30 pm found myself unable to urinate. I had been advised to go to the emergency department should this problem arise. After a 40 minute drive to the hospital I was led to a cubicle and settled down to have a catheter refitted. Half an hour later a male nurse came on the scene and did a bladder scan, saying that I still had capacity for more urine and the staff had been advised exercise extreme care inserting a catheter due to the fragility of certain parts of my post operative anatomy. Time went by and around 11.30 pm i was in agony as I still hadn't passed urine. A further bladder scan revealed the amount of urine had doubled and it was now necessary to insert a catheter. This task was left to a junior nurse who eventually called for help and between them manged to fit the wrong oversize catheter. This was then removed and the correct catheter fitted. This entire experience was avoidable and was much worse than than the previous experience of presenting at a public hospital with a kidney stone. Hopefully, a better understanding of patient's needs will prevent someone else having to endure this pain but looking at other reviews not much has been done to mitigate such issues. Back pain and an infection was all i took away from this shamble.
My husband went to Wesley at 2016 for pneumonia and was impressed by the extreme friendness, kindness of the nurses. 5 years later, I went to wesley maternity suite having our baby Claire. This is a really pleasant maternity journey. All the doctors and nurses are very friendly, professional. They care for me and Claire with love and understanding. They encourage me when I felt frustrated with breastfeeding. Without them, I wouldn’t have breastfed Claire very well and come to home with faith in myself being a good mom. The nurse even move the treatment machine to my room for Claire’s jaundice, which is very convenient for me to fed and took care of her. After discharged from wesley, I asked two home visits. The midwife Jo who visited me at home also shows excellent profession and is very knowledgeable in providing new mom and baby with support. I would be happy to have my second baby at Wesley if I have the chance. Special thanks to my obstetrician Dr Yip, my midwife Wendy, Claire’s pediatrician Dr Holt, my anesthetist Tom, midwife Jo, caring staff Gabriel and all the nurses that caring for me and Claire during our stay though I didn’t remember all your names. All the best for you amazing guys!❤️❤️❤️ Elly 03/10/2021
3 stars are for Dr Blair Bowden and his team, as he is the best, manner outcomes etc. However the nursing and hospitality staff could do with a refresher in customer service. Hardly knock leave doors and lights on when they leave your room, had to ask for a towel and extra blanket. Meal service well I could only have fluids so soup at lunch was carrot and ginger no one told me what it was... At the evening meal after complaining they should know what they are serving, I still had to ask what it was... I am leaving today and at 7-15 three nurses told me I was going home one then said Iam opening your blinds not would you like your blinds open.... I closed them when she left. Had to pull my own TED stockings on after stomach surgery after I waited an hour for her to come back to put them on. Breakfast arrives here's your drink not flavour would you like nothing. I had surgery here 10 years ago and could not fault the staff. Ward 5 E you seriously need to think about your customer service not chatting noisily in the halls and that you are nurses and carers so remember to Care....
I unfortunately ended up with a Gastro enteritis and I cannot but admire the paramedics who took me by ambulance to the hospital Staff nurses in emergency, where excellence, very helpful and informative Unfortunately, the doctor I saw after I had several examinations, CT scan, blood checks and diarrhoea specimen Seemed only interested that I leave the hospital as there was nothing more they could do for me. I did not even receive a drip and was very very dehydrated, and he didn’t want me in the ward, even though I’m a private patient as he was worried about me, spreading what I had to the staff in the ward it self So I came home, and I’ve been self nursing myself since then nothing has improved with the over-the-counter medication he prescribed which was prescribed unfortunately incorrectly he should’ve put an authority / reference number with it That was the first time my visit to the hospital was so badly organised by the doctor. The other visits have been absolutely marvellous but this doctor did not give me any confidence was in the emergency department Colin Minton
As part of my rehabilitation I had to see Dr Sarah Lindsay at the Wesley Anaesthesia and Pain Management clinic as I had been left with significant damage and pain from my thoracic T5/6 infection 13 months ago. Dr Lindsay is awesome, extremely knowledgeable and just so down to earth and easy to talk to. She makes suggestions and wants your input before proceeding and at the end of our 70 minute meeting we had a well-formed care plan including several changes to my present care plan with the inclusion of more focused physio and predominantly changes to my medications. Unfortunately, we live in Hervey bay so it was not possible to be part of the Wesley Pain plan they run Tues and Thurs each week but in conjunction with my GP she sent notes through immediately so we could coordinate with my Physio in HB to align with their program. I will see Dr Lindsay via Skype 6 weekly to start and then 3 monthly. She packed a lot into our appointment and I feel we are in good caring and professional hands
The hospital is second class for a private hospital and the staff are not at all attentive to elderly patients who need extra care this is an outdated private hospital. Mum had a fall whilst in hospital due to the inexperienced nursing and orderly staff. The nurse bragged she only had 4 patients for day when she was nursing a retired aged care nurse who would be responsible for up to 15 patients a day when working and the nurse still couldn't do her job properly taking hours to come back and get mum to shower and change bed. The care was second rated the only reason for 1 star is for the wonderful doctor. Dr Pendelton however is one of the nicest doctors that I have ever met with a beautiful caring bed side manner who actually genuinely cares for his patients well being. Would not be advising my mum to visit here again only if she needed to be admitted under Dr Pendelton and no other hospital option.
This is a delayed review as my wife was admitted to Wesley about 18 months ago with multiple fractures following an accident. In a nutshell very disappointing. A very mixed bag of care. Some of the nurses and particularly the nurses in charge were wonderful and caring. However, many of the nurses, especially the night nurses were appalling and disregarding. One of the nurses had my wife literally in tears with what we could only describe as mean behaviour. I was worried enough about my wife without this astonishing treatment. On top of all of this, after paying a prince’s ransom in private health care for years, we were then charged a fortune in medical costs at Wesley. What is the point in paying a fortune if u are going to be charged a fortune for unknown specialist fees?? Very expensive and very poor care and I certainly won’t be returning but will avoid Wesley like the plague.
Can't say enough about my day surgery experience. Flawless, seamless and above everything, the staff were just amazing and so genuinely caring and professional. I would have to agree with another reviewer that the actual waiting rooms and in particular, the pre-op waiting room experience where you can hear everything being discussed by other patients )which does make you feel uncomfortable), are not so great. However, it's the staff at this hospital that would make you come back again and again. I'm sure there are better structured (architecturally speaking) and decor wise, private hospitals out there, but the most important thing about any hospital is the staff and this is where this hospital excels. I couldn't recommend this hospital enough to anyone considering any kind of surgery. You will be cared for, supported and warmly so. Highly recommend!
I was a patient at the Wesley on Wednesday the 9th in Day Surgery. And I just want to say how blown away I was by the amazing staff at your hospital. From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left I was treated with so much kindness by all of the staff. My doctor and his team were incredible and I felt safe and in good hands. I also particularly want to mention the nurses that cared for me during my recovery. Sharon was the most kind and caring nurse, checked on me constantly and made sure I was comfortable. She is an absolute angel! Also the QUT trainee (I think her name was Yoki - I apologise if I've messed that up), was also so amazing and lovely. I always get nervous going into hospital with my chronic illness, but I was so well cared for and looked after while I was there, and am just very grateful. So thank you! x
My experience at this hospital was 6 Star. I was admitted via the 24 Hour Emergency last year for an unknown infection, for 4 days. All the treating medical staff, nurses & 2 Specialists (infectious disease & immunology) treated me with respect & care, as they investigated the cause of my illness, which turned out to be a serious unidentified E. coli infection. I was on liquid antibiotics for 4 days. The food service was first class, both service and product (even had a glass of wine with meals). Cleaning staff were efficient & courteous. Considering we were the second year into COVID-19, I had reservations about going to Emergency but my attendance was taken seriously & staff acted promptly and every question I had was answered. The after discharge visits to both my treating specialists was great.
Just had a 5 days stay in the Wesley Hospital. I cannot recommend a hospital any higher that this hospital. From entering the Emergency Dept Dr Dan was so thorough and professional to being put into a hospital room where I was very quickly seen to by Dr. Saad Kahn the whole experience was so friendly courteous and professional by all the staff. Dr Kahn is such a professional gastroenterologist specialist and his thorough testing was so excellent with a very caring bedside manner. This Young Doctor is a credit to the medical profession. The nursing staff were so wonderful happy thorough and on the ball it was a pleasure. The food was great and It was like being in a resort or 5 star hotel and my compliments to the chefs. If You ever need to go to a hospital The Wesley is the best. Thank You all
I never ever do this, but, from the moment I entered the ER on Saturday, I have had a terrible and stressful time, not only has my physical self got worse, but my mental health has been affected. It’s just a flood of errors and miss treatment, my needs have not been taken care of. To the point where I’ve waited over an hr for a “pain” meditation. The nurses are great and I thank them for their work, they’re doing their job and their best but, this system is in desperate need of a make-over and the hospital has a lot to answer for in how they have neglected to help me. A letter and information has been sent to the Wesley patient liaison and I am waiting a written response. I’m still at the hospital (Tuesday) and the errors and disappointment have not stopped.
This hospital is so seriously old, its the year 2019 not 1974. It's in need of a major renovation. Also, I got put in a shared room because they didn't have a private room. I have private healthcare, not public health care. Its just a depressing looking hospital on the inside and makes patients feel even more depressed. You get a crummy little TV the size of a picture frame and it's almost attached to the ceiling and you have to look at it in the most awkward position. Greenslopes private is much nicer and if you want to see what an outstanding hospital looks like, checkout Gold Coast Private, Its a $250 million facility. Wesley is behind the times..... and doing the city of Brisbane an injustice. I will never go back again !!
Midnight Sunday a few weeks back...doubled over in pain from what I guessed to be a kidney stone on the move...drove myself two streets to Wesley Hospital Accident & Emergency. The Reception staff, nurses, on duty doctor and radiologist were all very caring, efficient and professional people. The facilities were comfortable and modern. They quickly addressed the crippling pain, provided scans and monitored me as I slept through until about 6:00am. Not a fan of health insurance...I prefer to save my money to a specific bank account for these types of emergencies...The Wesley service cost about $900.00 including scans and I got about $400.00 back within a day or two from Medicare...I'm happy!
I was admitted to the hospital Ward 4E, Wednesday 26 January to received a Laminectomy surgery on the 27th. From the first day in the hospital to the discharge day 30th, I received very professional and caring treatment from all the staff who looked after me. In particular the nursing staff who needed to watch and treat me 24 hours a day (an issue arose during recovery) were able to reassure me that I was under professional and caring people during the following 3 days. Also the staff providing cups of tea and meals during my stay were always smiling and lifted my spirits. To all, thankyou for being the caring professionals you are all the time I was under your care. Paul Howard
I had the displeasure of going here yesterday in search of good care and was all but escorted out. I am chronically ill and was sent there by my GP with a letter for admission. I was polite the whole time despite dealing with pain, nausea, & fainting episodes & after a few hours I was informed there was nothing they could do to help & left with a bill I cannot pay. I am at the end of my tolerance for these issues and unsure how to endure them any longer, this is simply not good enough. Thanks also to the nurses that tried to make sure I was okay as I was directed out of the hospital while having a panic attack & left sobbing outside for an uber to pick me up. This is not okay.
we find the specialist centres at imed and icon fantastic. The wesley lets its self-down badly when you have to be admitted after a procedure. The wards are generally dated and grim and the food was terrible, which is insulting for the nightly rate required. When looking for a nurse to assist with discharge the cleaner advised us " good luck finding a nurse around here " Im sure it would be cheaper and a much nicer experience to book into a 5 star hotel and pay for a private nurse to attend. A bigger disappointment was the lack of any advice or help in regard to diet after undergoing cancer treatment, apart from "visit some bakery shops to get some weight back on" ??
I went into hospital this morning about 7.50, needed a ultrasound done, rang a few day before to ask what time they open, as I wait, wait wait wait, it was going on to 9am, X-ray was to open at 8am, ask twice at reception what time they were opening. Some women appeared around 9am, saw me, oh sorry had to get my breakfast first, not only she was late, had to put herself first, this is not hood enough.... I didn’t get my ultrasound done because they had emergency’s, if she was on time, I could of. Now I still have to suffer, I can’t walk, and in lots of pain.. will never go back to the Wesley hospital again, they need to sack a lot of staff there, can’t do there job.
Terrible experience at the Wesley Emergency Centre. My son received very limited medical attention and his injury was only confirmed when he attended his own specialist the next day. We could not be billed on our departure as the system was down and it was agreed that I would be advised of the amount before being charged. That never happened, the money was deducted from my bank account and I did not receive an invoice until I asked for it one month afterwards. Obviously their priority is billing. Do not waste your time nor money at the Wesley Emergency Centre. I have already experienced this before at the Wesley with my mother and I moved her to the RBH.
Without a doubt the worst hospital in Brisbane due to the arrogance of administration staff whom dictate patient care rather than the doctors and nursing staff. Was refused admission for a procedure today as they were far too money grabbing to wait 7 days for my work cover insurance to pay them - even though they are a major workcover provider. Leaving me unnecessarily in severe pain with no understanding if or when the procedure will now be carried out and when i will be relieved of severe pain and discomfort from a medical device attached to me. Avoid at all costs as all they care about is prompt payment on the day and not patient welfare.
0 stars if I could get it to work. The reception staff lied about sneaky charges which I later refused to pay AND they overcharged my health insurance by three days - then said 'you're not paying for it', the OT turned up shoved a sheet in my hand and told me to do the exercises on it then swanned off - apparently she was busy and could not stay - but my hospital fund was charged each time she did this. These people never once in two weeks got the food right. There was not enough ice as ordered by the doctor and the nurses attitude was 'it'll be right' . The room was passable, the view boring, cleaning was light on.
I'd like to thank and note Ms. Fay from Food Services who works in Gown and Glove. I had a visitor and the Eftpos machine was broken, but when my visitor who was very exhausted and went to pay and realized they were accepting only cash, Fay gladly offered to pay for the sick visitor from her own pocket. We also saw that despite the afternoon rush and chaos due to the broken Eftpos machine, Fay was very kind and was calmly handling everyone's orders with a smile on her face. I will never forget this very kindhearted woman and it would be wonderful if she is appreciated by the team and hospital. God bless you Fay!
The most professional Hospital I have been to, great doctors, great nurses, great support staff. I had the best care I could ask for and being in a hospital for 3 weeks you would think the cracks would begin to show, however I had the same level of care, compassion and quality of life the entire stay, any issues I had were easily dealt with and they were happy to help me with proceedures I was not comfortable with. My advice is if you need to go to hospital this is the place to go, get private cover or have a fund to pay for your visit but this Hospital is worth every cent if you need to go to hospital!
Dr Gatehouse and his team and also the volunteers were amazing!!!! Unfortunately the care ended there. Nursing staff neglected me for hours and catering staff forgot to feed me. I was a very hungry private patient. The Wesley needs to engage a nutritionist to cater for wellness. My breakfast arrived with no care, milk spilt all over everything and I was Served high sugar and rotten food. It isn't a good way to get people well. I would love it if Dr gatehouse was located at the Northwest hospital. That would be a dream team and the Wesley could learn a lot from the Northwest.
Medical staff are fantastic but it ends there for my experience. My wife’s first night tv not working and no one to fix it. Had a procedure that ran overtime and after 24 hours of no food was not able to get anything except a soggy sandwich that was 2 days old. 1.10pm on another day went to the gown and glove to get my wife some fruit salad as she was not up to the meal delivered to find there were no healthy alternatives left. The staff were either unable or unwilling to make anything fresh and my options were chips, chips or chips. Unacceptable for a top medical facility.
Hospital has signs everywhere saying violence or threats are not acceptable, and rightly so. But when a staff member makes bodily threats against a patient it is a total different kettle of fish. Say they will investigate and report back. Absolutely nothing. Nor did they contact witnesses to the event. Simply disgraceful. Had to go back to the hospital twice in the last three days Denral Dr ignores the CT report puts his finger on my mouth and says all good. Magic scanning fingers as the ct scan showed abyss behind the tonsils. Terrible waste of money.
Can't say I've been to many hospitals (thankfully) but today I had day surgery (Dr. Vujovic) at the Wesley and the experience was pleasent from start to finish. From the moment I walked into admissions until the moment I left to go home, there was someone pointing me in the right direct/escorting me and I never felt out of place or lost at any stage. Each staff member (too many to remember names) was polite and courteous and you could tell the genuinely enjoy their jobs. They make the effort to care for your well-being and it was a great experience.
Excellent care and lovely staff but why are you starving your patients? My partner had to call me and get me to bring food in. One egg and one slice of toast for breakfast, is hardly a meal for an adult male. It can't be calorie controlled because it's not even hitting the average. Poor guy was loading up on cookies and cake from the tea lady... probably better for your patients to serve an extra egg don't you think? All other hospitals in SE Qld, private and public, are commend on their menus... time to lift your game Wesley!
Staff prior to operation were professional and organised with Dr. Steven Hatcher. I stayed overnight & staff were nice in general while in admission except 1 particluar RN. There was lack of communication of what the next steps would be without leaving me hanging & wondering. I would press the buzzer more than 3 times on multiple occasions and would take 5-10 minutes to tend to my request. I'm in the customer service trade and understand delays but would be nice to atleast communicate this without leaving me in the dark.
3 days, $2,000 lighter, Medibank Private agreed I should have gone to a public hospital with my urgent problem. Their emergency centre is designed to gouge an extra $500 from you before you’re admitted. The doctor sent 2 of his friends to chat with me at an additional cost of around $600 after refunds. Medibank Private said it has the reputation of the most expensive hospital with the most expensive doctors in Brisbane. It doesn’t have a reputation of the best quality. Beware of the huge gap despite top private cover.
I had surgery today. I am being hospitalized overnight. Probably still under effects of anaesthetic. But I want to write ASAP to Thank You and to say this stay is the most superior-to-none! Identification and explanation all the way up = Safety! Even..while not wasting precious theatre time..while another team is setting up..an introduction was made to gowned-up, masked-up scrub-team! I have never experienced seeing this..even when working in Operating Theatres in Australia.. THANK YOU TO ALL AT WESLEY!!
My husband has had numerous admissions at the Wesley. Staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. His latest admission it was a little disappointing that patient meals are delivered in small takeaway containers and disposable cutlery. Very difficult for the patients to eat properly. Plus the menu options has disappeared are very disappointing. Same food offered everyday. More like public hospital food and not a private facility. How about thinking more of the patient experience instead of profits.
Every surgery and emergency visit I’ve had to pop in for has been a breeze. My epidural and C-Section went so smoothly I barely even noticed (Dr Pecoraro & Phillips) and the maternity stay really equipped me with skills and techniques I fully needed on the outside around breastfeeding, latching and they provided everything baby needed. The only remarks, next time offer a fresh gown after I’d been wearing the same one for a few days and some of the food was iffy (tomato soup, pavlova dessert)..
I recently had a procedure performed and needed to spend a night. I was shocked by just how genuinely nice every single person I interacted with was. From the admin, the nurses, the volunteers and the doctors, everyone seemed to wear a smile, and enjoy talking with their colleagues. I felt that the staff cared that I was comfortable and well cared for at every step, which was deeply appreciated. While I hope no one needs to spend any time at hospital, I would absolutely recommend this one.
I spent 3 nights at the Wesley for chronic back pain. From the moment I arrived at Emergency I was treated in a professional compassionate manner. The nurses were pleasant my room was comfortable I was fortunate to have a room to myself. The food tasted really nice however since I am a fan of lower carb diet I did not find weetbix orange juice jam and bread for breakfast very healthy. And muffins for morning tea. Irrespective I will give this hospital 5 stars as I was treated really well
This hospital is great. Were able to get me in asap to see fetal medicine specialists and genetics dr. Other Brisbane hospital could only get me in in months time but Wesley got us in the day after we got bad news. Dr Frank Carmody was fantastic and Dr David Coman were amazing during such a difficult time. Very easy to navigate your way around this hospital and heaps of parking, disability friendly (obviously) small cafe downstairs but from memory the open hours were all over the place.
This hospital is one of the worse hospitals in the world, My wife was admitted for a surgery this week, But quality of their services were awful and its nurses are mean and irresponsible immoral. My wife had been requesting them to help her for going to toilet while she was sleepy due to anesthetic but nobody helped her, even she kept requesting them to change her bed’ sheets which had been dirty full of blood because of bleeding, but nobody cared and it was not changed unfortunately.
Recent visit for day surgery was treated extremely well. From booking in time where volunteers greet patients in a friendly manner and guide you to the waiting area for your proceedure, to the medical staff who help to prepare you. Warm robes and blankets, comfortable recliner chair to the cheerful and very professional theatre staff. I cannot fault anything about my recent visit there. Would highly recommend. Visit was followed up with a phone to see how I was.
Well I give up. Where does one go to be treated with respect - where medical staff show a patient empathy dignity and compassion? Not here for sure. I feel covid has put the final nail in the medica l coffin I have a disease which will take my life & I need assistance but I do not need abuse, belittement to and insults from nursing & ancillary staff. Very unacceptable so disapppointed in this hospital. It was the best in Brisbane & the food !!! It is atrocious.
I have recently had 2 emergency trips, one which required a short stay, and the experience as a whole was very positive. The staff were excellent, well trained, and very helpful, the room/areas themselves were nice and clean, and the food was pretty good for hospital food. Dr Schueltz (and his staff) was also fantastic and did a wonderful job at fixing me up, and with the aftercare. Help desk staff are lovely and genuinely helpful and caring too.
For the unfortunate individuals who will have to use a hospital, Wesley has an excellent team in place, with good infrastructure. Staff were very helpful in assisting or directing our queries. In concert with the doctor who eventually did the surgery, it was a smooth experience. On-site and road car parking costs can easily escalate with long visits- plan ahead if intending a long visit of more than, say, four hours.
I am glad that I live near such a great professional and reliable hospital. It happened that my daughter had high temperature for 2 nights and on the third I decided to bring her here, so that I can receive an accurate and helpful advice on how to low it down. The nurses were extremely polite and sympathetic, they took care of everything and made my daughter smile! Thank you for your adequate reaction and help!
Thank you to your team, who were absolutely amazing during my short stay. From Lara and Brittany, the incredible nurses, Dr Vagish Singh, plus everyone from the admissions desk to the team in the surgical areas, I experienced only friendly, professional and caring attitudes. Luckily for me, I was only there for a false positive on a test, but if it had been more serious I know I would have been in good hands.
I recently required surgery at the Wesley Hospital, and I cannot recommend this hospital highly enough. From arrival I was treated with a friendly smile and professionalism. Everyone looked after me, from admission staff and volunteers through to the doctors and surgical staff. Special mention goes to the wonderful nursing staff, who were amazing and so kind to me. Extra bonus, the food was really good! :)
I recently underwent day surgery at the Wesley Hospital and it was a very good experience. From the first person I saw at admissions to the last at discharge everyone was kind, friendly and professional. This really helped with my anxiety. There was relaxing music playing in the pre-op waiting area and a teapot of tea afterwards! It really is the little things that make a difference. Well done!
Recently having to stay at the Wesley, I found all staff from doctors to nurses to catering and cleaning all incredibly bright bubbly and always smiling. I felt so comfortable and relaxed in a stressful situation. Even though they were short staffed they met every request and were only too happy to help. Thank you to all staff especially the amazing nurses working on ward 5E, you are the best!
The Wesley Hospital is the best hospital from every aspect cleanliness, service, location, food, all staff and doctors. The rooms are like large hotel rooms designed to help you feel better. The staff are amazing with empathy and professionalism. I would like to especially thank the Ward 6B family of nurses for really caring, your daily care changes lives, thank you so much!!!
I wanted to say thank you to the lovely nursing staff on Ward 7 E for my recent visit. Special thanks to Richard, Chris and Michelle. I would like to point out that I am a Nurse and was concerned at the cleanliness so just a suggestion, perhaps housekeeping should have a review of the cleaning schedules. My bathroom was cleaned only twice in 4 days and the room not at all.
I would like to thank everybody at the Wesley hospital Surgeons, Doctors ,nurses ,Cleaners,Tea ladies and gents, I had heart surgery, and had a longer stay than expected ,Every single person in that hospital went over and aboard to make my stay the best ,Thank you all very much , if ever I have to be addmitted again I hope it's into the Wesley ,Thankyou Jackie Peacock
All the staff at the Wesley are amazing. Even when staff are super busy, they are friendly, they make time for you and your every concern. The staff look happy and appear to work as a well oiled team. Comfortable rooms and great food choices (including Vegan options) and service. Remember, it is a Hospital not a restaurant. It really is the best! Thank you Wesley
Highly wonderful hospital with dedicated staff members and a well educated nurses who know what they're doing. Doctors are on the job and know exactly what is going on. Good place to be if you're stick or if you are unwell or need help, all facilities are easy to navigate. Nurses and pharmacy are easily one of the best I've dealt with in a long time.
I have a great Doctor -Dr Cook who looks after me really well. I just had a big operation done and have to stay at the hospital for a few days . I absolutely totally enjoyed my stay ! The room is comfy, the staffs —nurses , catering staffs , cleaners are lovely , friendly and helpful. The food is mostly yummy ! I actually didn’t want to go home !
I had to visit an emergency department yesterday and I could not imagine anywhere better. Nurses and doctor were absolutely amazing, professional, patient, caring and extremely helpful. Despite the pain and stress I was going through, they managed the situation perfectly and I could not thank enough every member of staff that helped me that day.
Quickest emergency visit I have ever experienced. My split lip required stitches in both the muscle and outer skin. The whole team from check in the nurse and doctor were all personable and professional. My lip has retained it shape and the outer stitches are so neat. Based on this experience I would have no problems recommending The Wesley
They don’t even deserve a one start but I have no zero option! For the second time, it is the worst emergency service ever. Been in severe chronic pain crying. They were too slow. Pain hasn’t been managed at all! I had to leave the hospital crying from the pain for not being managed! Heading to a different Emergency department.
Had a very terrible experience from the security guard ( tall bald headed guy), located opposite to the reception as a new visitor to this place. Very rude and arrogant behaviour when asked for some help with directions. Please train your staff to be humble and polite. Apart from that Wesley private hospital is great place
Whilst the actual hospital is great, who in their right mind numbered the floors in the multi story car park. I parked on 6W and when I caught the lift back up I naturally went to ‘6’, only to find the access to 6W is from 5E. So back into the lift and down a level. Stupid. I wonder how many others do the same every day!
What an operation to run a hospital like that. Had a few visits now and just amazing how organised the place is. Everything runs smooth as silk, and as a patient, I felt cared for. Thank you again to a diverse staff, young, old and international ... I love your work. Hopefully not, but I am happy to be back :-)
The Wesley used to have a good reputation. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. Although they refused to nominate a price for an overnight stay - they did confirm it is over $1000 The food is disgraceful. I thought poor quality of food and low standards was a thing of the past. Sadly this is not the case.
My entire experience was wonderful. Admin were marvellous special thanks to Asunga. Very grateful to Liz Boges and Ian, my anaesthetics team - they kept me breathing. Special gratefulness to Dr. Nicholas O'Rourke, successful repair of my right inguinal hernia - no pain or discomfort, and healing very well.
Had spinal surgery with a 2 night stay. Everyone I met was so friendly and could see I was so anxious before my operation so did everything they could to calm my nerves. The day and night nurses were so much help. Always felt looked after and respected. I give huge thanks to all the nurses I had …
Hi, Latha the social worker at the Hospital was fantastic, Latha put her whole heart & soul into having 'NDIS' approved, she took the matter very seriously professionally and personal, very experienced. Maree & I are very Grateful & appreciative. Good work Latha, 10 out of 10 we can't thank you enough.
I went to Wesley on 26/1 and I was seen by Dr Adam in ED who sent me home. I presented to another hospital with the same problem and I was admitted for 8 days, getting treatment. Dr Adam as even making funny with my presentation to the hospital yet I really needed help. I was not impressed at all.
Parking and picking up patients is quite a pain, with the semi- circle like pickup area and terrible street parking. However, the staff are great and several of my family members have had their operations done here due to the professional doctors and surgeons. Great, except for the parking.
Amazing! Thank you to all the nurses and Dr. Martin Lowe who looked after my little brother Taj! It’s been a very stressful time and after having such a difficult time at Logan Hospital it was so relieving to have such amazing care! Myself and the rest of the family are so so grateful!!!
I have just spent nearly 4 weeks in Ward 4E at Wesley Hospital. To the NUM, Bev and her fantastic team THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your care and attention. It was second to none and nothing was any trouble in my care. Many thanks, RONA MILLS. You fully deserve all 5 stars.
I have recently come out of the Wesley Hospital. I was there for day surgery for a broken ankle. I only have praise for all staff members. Every single one of them made me feel so good and went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. Truly your all amazing. Keep up the great work
A stressful situation was made even more stressful by a lack of empathy and care from your Emergency nurses. I do not recommend the Wesley emergency department at all. It was an upsetting and demeaning experience. You pay a premium to get a better service but not at Wesley Emergency.
Amazing stay, had the best doctor ever and nurses were so kind and caring. Felt like I had total control over my surgery and healing. Stayed for nearly a week. The hospital isn't clinical feeling, but comforting. Best hospital ever! Came back to add that nurse Cc is exceptional
Horrid nurses staff! Reading reviews people have experiences such as extra food given to them etc. I was given bear minimum care and food. I was nothing but polite and thanked everyone however the price you pay here to be polite unless you’re some kind of socialite seems outrageous.
Currently here recovering from an operation in my room overlooking the river and cannot fault this place. Everyone of the nurses I have come across have been kind, funny and compassionate. Excellent surgeon and would definitely recommend this hospital. The food is also fantastic.
Am amazing experience when I was at my most vulnerable. my nursing staff were fantastic, professional, caring and knowledgeable My surgeon Blair Bowden is one of the most caring persons I have ever met and incredibly skilled. To sum up I would highly recommend the Wesley hospital
The professionals at the Wesley hospital have been fantastic with my son. The nursing and support staff have also been amazing. This in conjunction with the services of the RFDS gives me great faith in the level of available health care and generosity of our community.
Great staff, professional medical care. In for spinal surgery and the assistance and understanding was evident from the first person at the door to last. Food was good. Room temperature was good. When I needed assistance it was always fast and thoughtful service
Was in hospital here for a week and felt really cared for by all the nurses. They always went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable at all times. The Wesley has been the hospital of choice for my family for many years so this will continue on
I went in for a day surgery and it was such a positive experience. The nurses in the unit were SO so lovely. Nothing was too much and they were so caring and comforting - especially when I was overwhelmed or emotional. Couldn’t recommend them enough.
Could not recommend highly enough. Every member of every team I've encountered from Reception through Pre-Admission to nursing staff in the ward have been amazing. Caring, professional and personable, could not wish for better care or surroundings.
My partner is on crutches and she fell down the street parking and cracked her ribs because the hospital doesn’t offer parking for the disabled and they want to charge over $40 for parking on-site. They haven’t apologised and don’t care about you.
5 Star service from the team at Wesley Hospital. It was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised on how lovely, kind and thoughtful the staff were from start to finish of my experience. Felt loved and well looked after :) Thank you!
I went to the Wesley hospital for my septoplasty and turbinates reduction procedure to be done by Dr. James Earnshaw. I have received the best patient experience ever. I was warmly welcomed from the beginning and looked after professionally
Emergency Department terrible! but the Hospital itself and the 4 other surgeons that I've since consulted with who have operated on me were all amazing as were the nursing staff and all the other caring professionals and admin team . Thank
My daughter was in for endometriosis, adenomyosis, and and IUD last week. The staff were caring and my daughter had no complaints comes checkout time and she was prescribed panadeine forte. I knew she was going to be in pain and explained
My mother-in-law is 94 years old she's gone in there with problems and she needs to have prunes and other foods of a morning. She's just about deaf and blind my partner had taken food in to be given in the morningthis was not done because
Cant speak highly enough of the Wesley Hospital. I had my three children there, I have had operations, and recently they nursed my sister in law with cancer till she passed. I would not go to another hospital in Brisbane. Well done staff.
Very recently I was in Wesley 2M Neuro Ward for 2 1/2 weeks. I was cared for with compassion & dignity by all staff who looked after me from Emergency Dept to discharge. I can highly recommend the care provided by this wonderful hospital!
Sneaky underhanded charges for imaging. Claim money goes to hospital equipment; you must pay before you leave. On arrival demand $75 bond payment for telephone charges. Sheets were changed & bed made 3 times in 14 days. Cleaning of room
My day surgery in the Wesley could not have been better. The staff were kind, generous with their time, but extremely efficient. A six star hotel could not have been more customer oriented. Everything was done for my comfort.
Just in for major urologic surgery and found the whole experience pretty good. Level of medical expertise from Dr G Coughlin and team excellent. Preadmission several days before good though some information conflicted with
Had a surgery done here with the lovely Dr. Bjorn Smith. He was a fantastic surgeon and the facility was warm and accommodating during my stay. All the nurses were lovely and I felt looked after and extremely comfortable.
I would like to thank the nurses and staff on Ward 2M Bed 29 after my spinal surgery. they looked after me exceptionally could not fault them. The food menu selection was wonderful also.THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Thank you all staff, nurses ,and doctors. My partner had operation here and all of you are our heroes. The way you guys talk to us always cheers us up, full of support and caring. Thank you so much.
First experience at i-med within hospital for injection into my neck. Date 9/8/23 The lovely receptionist Morgan realised it was my b/day + proceeded to give me a chocolate crackle cup cake …
From the moment I walked into hospital it was the most amazing service I have ever had. Between the volunteers, admin, nurses and surgeons everyone was so lovely and made me feel at ease!
Fantastic hospital with amazing Doctors and caring nurses, I couldn’t fault anything in my recent 2 week stay, even the food was first class. I can’t recommend The Wesley highly enough
I could write pages about my surgical visit but to put it simply, based on my stay this year, this is a Benchmark Facility that needs emulating. Facilities, Staff and Design fantastic
Recently went to the Wesley for day surgery. While the staff and doctors could not be faulted - the same could not be said about the actual environment and experience.
Nurse CC in east wing level 6E ward was incredible! Much appreciated how she looked after Michaela ❤️And all the nurses on this ward. THANK YOU SO MUCH …
