5/5 stars specifically to Emily from the Mental Health care team. The process from ER walk in to discharge was 14 hrs, and unfortunately/unfairly I was seen before people with physical pains. These people ended up walking out angry as they were really struggling, but I was quiet and not in active harm - it seems really unfair. The ER waiting room had a few physically distressed people and it's sad that they weren't seen to after waiting at least 5-6 hrs for someone to help them before walking out due to a lack of help. Once I was assessed in a small room I was told to sit in another waiting room. Staff were laughing during the small hours, and talking quietly then laughing again; it sounded like they were talking about patients but I could be wrong here and paranoid. I ended up eventually falling asleep on the floor, and a hospital worker woke me up saying the floor is disgusting, get up, so then I sat back on the chair and waited maybe up to an hour to be finally given a bed. The staff rustled up some food that tasted really bad but had some nutrition (vanilla yoghurt and cookies) but the apple juice tasted okay. I appreciate that they gave me food, which reminded me to eat. I then drank the Up and Go I'd packed in my bag and took my daily medication. I was left alone for a while, fell asleep again, and then woke up to be properly assessed. The lady (Emily) said she'd called my emergency contact and for me I thought that was really useful knowledge for me to know at the time. We talked for a while about my self harm thoughts, and we talked about resources I can use to help rather than a band-aid on the wound (such as calling Lifeline often). While it's still important to do that, being given resources to treat underlying traumas is something I am so thankful for to help my brain get better. I am happy that I was helped as best that could be done by Emily, and I sincerely felt heard, safe with her, action plans are in place to help my recovery, and we contacted my friends to make sure I had somewhere mentally safe for the next two nights to sleep. Thank you. Plan is to read through all the support resource documents (pamphlets) and go from there. To anyone reading that needs mental health crisis support, maybe here is a place to go but do bear in mind the absolute trauma from other patients' needs you'll have to endure in the ED then you might get lucky to have someone nice and compassionate and able to help. I hope all people get help in the ways they need, but the honest reality is that mental health in ED is not a streamlined nicely thought out process. Best to go to a community Safe Space first probably, but at that moment I needed help now, so put myself in an ED situation to try and get some help.
I took my elderly father there yesterday for major surgery. My first concern happened when we arrived in day surgery and the nurse came out to draw pictures on my fathers abdomen where a stoma was to go. My father wasn’t in to have that surgery. She then argued that the stoma was being moved to the other side. We said that is not the surgery he is having. It was a full on debate. She then sat I. The waiting room reading my fathers medical charts to find it was a completely different surgery. Talking about my fathers medical private medical details in front of all the people waiting in the room. All the pre surgery stuff was spoken about in a waiting room witnessed by all around. My father was humiliated. The surgery was scheduled for 230 but she said he was going in at 1230. They then said no visitors were to wait in the eating room and my elderly father was left alone sitting there for four hours until his surgery that was delayed was done. They kicked my elderly mother who is joined at the hip to my dad out of the waiting room. We asked if they would call when he was out of surgery and was told no they don’t do that we were to call the hospital at 230. I took my mum shopping and went back to the hospital where we were told he was in recovery. Come back in an hour. We went to the breeze cafe where we waited for 45 minutes for a cup of tea for my mum. We went back to the admin and they said he’s still in recovery. By this time it’s nearly 4 pm. The lovely admin lady made a phone call and found that my dad wasn’t in recovery he was still in surgery and wasn’t due out till 630. She called the ward and said we could go up to 2b to wait in thier lounge room. The lounge room turned out to be a storage room where I pulled out a chair for my elderly mum to sit on. The head nurse found us and offered mum a cup of tea which was lovely. At 8 pm a nurse came and said she wouldn’t be able to see dad as he was staying in recovery overnight and she was not allowed down to see him. I explained that she would fret if she couldn’t see if he was ok and she had been sitting here since 10am. There was nothing they could do. Just come back tomorrow. On our way home. We live an hour away we receive a call from the hospital that he was transferred to ward if we wanted to see him. We were nearly home. Mum was exhausted and very upset. I have never had a bad experience like this in a hospital environment and my dad has had several surgeries in the royal. This bhp spiral clearly needs to clean up its act and communicate. Not to mention maintain some privacy for thier patients. And maybe the onboarding nurse read the chart as to what operation a patient is getting before assuming. What a major disaster.
My father has been in Prince Charles hospital as a public patient awaiting a pacemaker to be inserted. The nursing staff and doctors have been excellent so far. The catering section has been exceptional and I have been ordering meals for my father using the app. My Dad's admission has been complicated by the fact that other patients in the room with him have tested positive to covid19 and hence he is now in a single room isolating with regular RAT testing. This has postponed the pacemaker operation. Yesterday morning my father's hearing aids were sitting on the table where he left them. When he woke up after a nap, both hearing aids were gone. After alerting the nursing staff and an extensive search of the room including bed linen, etc, the hearing aids were not located. As the hearing aids have a serial number on them, we have submitted a police report. Since my father is in a room by himself, the only people entering are nursing staff, cleaning staff and relatives. Catering staff are not allowed to enter a covid19 isolation room. It is now a sad realization that my father is a victim of theft here at the hospital. We are hoping that my father can have his operation as soon as possible and his hearing aids can be located as soon as possible. If you are admitted to this hospital, keep your valuables at home, even if they are medical devices, as there are opportunistic thieves around. I'm happy to amend this review if the hearing aids are found, but at this current point in time, my father and family have been distressed by this incident and this has affected our experience and impression of Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside. Addit: My father was discharged from the Rehab and stroke unit on 2nd November 2022. Despite reporting the missing hearing aids to the Price Charles hospital lost property web page, there has been no response. The Policelink website advises Queensland Police will only contact us if the hearing aids are found. In the end we had to pay another $4000 for a new pair of hearing aids which are now engraved with my father's name and insured as portable valuables. The previous pair of hearing aids that mysteriously disappeared from my father's hospital room while he was under isolation, were only owned by my father for two months.
Absolutely appalled by the way I was treated it at the Prince Charles hospital. I presented at the emergency department through ambulance to which was called for me from the prince Charles mental health acute care team for suicidal thoughts, I was placed under a mental health act and I wasn’t allowed to leave until I spoke with a mental health professional which is completely fine and I understood completely however I waited 4 hours to get a bed that I stayed in for no longer than five minutes. I did not get the chance to speak to a doctor or to a mental health professional instead I was taken to a place called safe space where instead of getting help I was asked how my day was, what I did for work, how I like to spend my money on and what my favourite clothes store was. When I asked when I was going to speak to a mental health professional I was explained that safe space was a place where you could talk about mental health in a group setting not a hospital based health program. When I asked if I could leave I was told; yes you can leave whenever you like. Explain to me how someone being put under a mental health who desperately needs help and had to be held until they spoke to a mental health professional and be assessed was allowed to leave the hospital straight away after speaking about their day when they were not allowed to leave an emergency department waiting room until they spoke to a mental health professional (WHICH NEVER HAPPENED). I left the hospital feeling worse than what I did when I came in with no help at all. This treatment was disgusting and did absolutely nothing when a 20 year old patient was historically crying with severe suicidal thoughts (which where known about). The only good thing about this hospital is the security outside the emergency department who asked if I was ok when I was still historically crying after being told I can leave without getting any care or treatment. NEVER go here for any mental health related issues. They do not care
The hospital is old and disgusting! The doors to the bathrooms are rotting, the only nice place is the entrance, beyond that you may as well be in a third world country hospital. My partner was admitted through emergency on a Thursday morning and requested to be transferred to a private hospital. St Vincent's is literally right next door. He continually pushed and they simply ignored his request completely. Come Saturday morning we rang St Vincent's after we were told on Friday they had no beds. This was an out right lie by the staff at Price Charles! They had beds, they just did not want to transfer him. Maybe they simply could not be bothered doing it? There is no valid reason or excuse why he could not be transferred. In the end at lunchtime today (Saturday), he packed his bag and discharged himself. With health problems he walked himself 100m next door and checked into the PRIVATE hospital he had been requesting for two days! There was absolutely no issue changing hospitals, why did they make this such an awful experience. I thought the public system was already under stress, then why would they not encourage patients with private health cover to go private? One nurse explained to my partner they need to keep their numbers - take that how ever you like! The hospital should be condemned and re-built. It is old and disgusting. My partner is a 48 year old male and was in a room with 3 very elderly women, one of whom had bowel issues and my partners bed was literally 1m from the toilet. Absolutely gross! He got no sleep in there and feels his requests to be transferred were purposely ignored! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! One last side note - he was admitted for shortness of breath and never once was Covid tested.
Absolutely shocked. What an unorganized outdated circus FULL of clowns. 6 hours in pain thinking apendix might burst in emergency. After failing catheter in one arm the "nurse" took blood with ripped gloves (she ripped a finger off the glove so she could feel the pulse but this was after she swabed the area clean with an alcohol swab) she got blood everywhere all down my wifes arm on floor, her own hand and my wifes clothes.. then LOST her BLOOD after we sat in 3 different waiting areas waiting for the results for hours then they had to take MORE of her blood! FYI You will be giving personal details out like name, address and phones number in front of other patients... Watched one male doc standing around doing nothing for at least 2 hours.. just stood in one place. Incompetence at its greatest! Im guessing that all the good staff were fired for not getting the clot shot now you have alot of sell outs standing around chit chatting while a few doctors rush through 20 patients or so an hour as we didnt have much time with the doctor we seen. Even after the 6 or so tubes of blood they still failed to do tests on the blood that were requested by her personal GP this was just ignored by the so called nurse. There was also no imaging done at all for what may be a swollen apendix! Imagine you have a painful catheter in your arm also and a "nurse" pumps up a tight blood pressure sleave on that same arm.. and for no reason other then she had nothing to do but wonder around the hospital. Absolutely disgusted.. even her personal GP was shocked no imaging was done.
Waited 7 hours to be seen by a psychiatrist, to then spend 2 hours with a psychiatrist, Dr Tom Frain, who told my suicidal partner ‘the reality is some people kill themselves and hospital isn’t a cure or a Band-Aid’ and then sent us out the door. Some weeks later, when my partner was taken in by an ambulance and placed under a psychiatric hold by police, the hospital discharged her 12 hours later - without advising any of her family - and put her in a taxi and sent her home. This was 12 hours after an intentional overdose. She was not even lucid and has no recollection of being discharged. On top of this, on numerous occasions they provided misinformation on the options we had available and the hospitalisation process and actively discouraged us from seeking any kind of help. The only thing they will offer you is a 24 hour number for their acute care team, regardless of what time or day you call that number it will ring for 20 minutes before disconnecting the call. This hospital and it’s staff in the mental health unit are truly despicable. This is not okay. Seeking help for mental health is already hard enough, but to finally take that step and essentially be told that a HOSPITAL will not and cannot help you is absolutely shattering. Shame on all of you.
My Husband was extremely ill and it came on so quickly. At about 10.30pm he was lying and bed and complained of extreme nausea then excrutiating pain in abdomen. Vomiting, diarrhoea, breathlessness then rigours ( shaking) soon followed and the lady I spoke to at the Ambulance 000 number was amazing and stayed on the phone with me while waiting for the Ambulance ( 5 stars to her). Taken to Prince Charles Emergency which was busy as it was a Saturday night. Waited in waiting Area for approx. 15 mins as he was a bit better (medication)then taken to bed in Emergency where they found his BP was 74/58. Straight to Resus Area and Doctor and Team started work. Bloods, chest x-ray, CT abdomen, linked up to Saline drip and machines. Dr, was young lady with a lovely manner, diagnosed it as Sepsis. Broad spectum antibiotic and then more specific antibiotics plus other medications to try and get his BP up. The Dr explained everything, which I appreciated. My Husband was in ICU for a couple of days but I suspect it could have been a different outcome if the diagnosis wasn't made in such a short time. My Husband was home late Wednesday and gradually regaining his strength and mobility. He couldn't stay in hospital as he has a compromised immune system. Thank you
Saturday Night 4th Dec 2021 my 17 yr daughter was brought in after suffering an accident at work after falling and hitting her head with concussion and memory loss the night shift doctors, nurses and staff were awesome as she needed ct scans and blood test. And had to stay over night for more tests all were awesome, caring and making my daughter laugh and in high spirits. Now come morning time the next shift were the total opposite my daughter had to go for another scan and told the nurse she wasn't feel well and dizzy about to faint as she hadn't had anything to eat or drink since she was there. But what really got me was my daughter over heard the 2 nurses complain that she was about to faint and should just hurry up and get it done!! And then to hear the same nurses told young boy who was next to my daughter who was king hit that night and was told he could go home, so in bed he's on his phone organizing a ride, then the nurse ask what's he doing he told her that he's organising a ride home she then tells him he can go and do that out in the waiting room!!! OMG emergency short stay area morning terrible!!! Night Shift awesome and thank you for being professional!!! Day Shift nurses maybe leave your poor attitudes at home!!
I have CTEPH which is a very rare lung illness due to massive blood clots going into the lungs from the leg. My GP in Toowoomba ignored my problem for five years. It was when I took my self to the ER of Toowoomba hospital that a great ER doctor told me, before I finised the symptoms, who told me what I had. It was confirmed within the hour after a CT scan. They saved my life and then when I was given 3 years to live Prince Charles saved my life by operating and getting rid of as much of the blockage they could. The heart surgeon who operated on me, while I was awake, was a fantastic caring heart surgeon. Without him doing his highly skilled work I would have had to have a lung and heart transplant. The operation he carried out was one that was the result of an idea a Japanese doctor had only a couple of years before I had mine. Without my heart surgeon and my lung doctor at Prince Charles I would be dead and so would many other people. The nurse turnover is low and the atmosphere is warm and caring. I know they will get to the bottom of this but all operations are risky. Prince Charles hospital is one of the best in Australia. Australia is a very very lucky country to have such free expert health care.
Appalling emergency Dept. Massively long queue that did not move. At least 15 people long and ambulances were waiting on the staff so that they could hand over patients as well. The person in front of us was having some sort of anaphylaxis and her lips and face were swelling up and I had raced my partner there for a suspected heart attack . After waiting 30 mins with not A SINGLE PERSON PROCESSED . My partner refused to wait any long and we decided that going home was safer than being at the hospital!! At least at home we could call an ambulance and have critical care by paramedics. That is an outrageous situation that going to the hospital via the emergency Dept is not safe. My suggestion is why not have someone triaging the people in the queue ?Asking what are you here for tonight, would you like a chair, a drink, how a stretcher ? This is an EMERGENCY DEPT. SOMEWHERE YOU GO IN AN Emergency. Your system is.... Well there is NO system and that's your problem . Throw some common sense at this one and get someone triaging that line . Turned out that partner was actually having a heart attack too.
I must say, I was a little dubious about choosing this hospital when I quickly had to take my teenage daughter to the ER this morning. The main reason for me being dubious was not because of the hospital itself but having an idea of the state of our public health system and the demands and pressures put onto the good staff that work at these facilities. Now, just to be clear, I have high expectations and am not a professional review writer however the experience for my daughter and I was 11/10. From the time we admitted my daughter in to the time we left was just amazing. My daughter was seen straight away and given gold class service by the nurses and doctors. Our Scottish doctor called Matt was spectacular and ensured that my daughter had everything explained to her, was very gentle and genuinely caring as well as did not seem to falter on doing any tests including X-Rays, Ultrasound of the lungs etc. Thanks to all the staff for taking such good care of us and it has restored my confidence in the public system and I would certainly not hesitate to attend this hospital again.
Presented for a Procedure in Endoscopy and all I can say is Professional Friendly service from the start. QR code sign in via the Check In QLD app with someone waiting to sign you in if you need assistance. The Nurses and Healthcare professionals were so bubbly and personable. I was taken in by Carol who was amazing when taking my information very friendly and funny made the whole process so easy to understand. The procedure itself went smoothly albeit a slight reaction they dealt with it so professionally. After care was Amazing I accidentally lost my phone in the gap of one of the chairs to which a Male nurse fished it out for me. Seriously above and beyond the care I expected. My Local hospital in Logan doesn't do any of this so in Future I will definitely recommend Prince Charles hospital to family and friends in the area. They genuinely do care for their patients my only quarm is the facility needs more funding to update the facilities. Hopefully the State Government invests more in PCH absolutely invaluable service with great care.
If you want the correct diagnosis and treatment, DON'T go here. The treatment by the short stay nurses was absolutely disgraceful and neglectful. I went in with sudden, incredible pain in my neck, shoulder and arm. Was left in short stay overnight with no pain relief and absolutely no assistance from the nurses. I had to get water to drink from the bathroom sink using my hands. Was never given a buzzer to call for help. Nurses treated me as if I had a simple sore shoulder and were rude. Was never given a MRI. Dr treated me for a "muscle spasm" and I was discharged, still in incredible pain. Went to my GP the day I was discharged and he ordered a MRI, which showed a herniated disc in my neck that was compressing nerves to my arm. Got adequate pain relief from my GP. My stay here was traumatic and did more harm and no good. I have had another instance where I was not diagnosed correctly here, but it's too long to write. I will never go back to this so called medical facility.
Recently had to take our 16month old and he had to have an overnight stay. The staff were so caring toward not only my son but our whole family unit, explaining what was happening with our son then repeating it again to my husband that came up later so he could also hear it first hand. One downside is the emergency car park area slash drop off. I feel like it would benefit majorly with a dedicated drive through drop off zone. Hard to get into the emergence if you don't have someone driving you there. Shout out to Nurse Rach in Paediatrics who took care of him all night, no matter what was happening elsewhere at the time she handled everything with professionalism, care and a warm smile on her face. She made us feel confident in our at home treatment plan. Also went out of her way to check in that I was ok and if I needed anything. She took the time to show me how to administer his medicine for ongoing home care once discharged.
The staff (all levels)are awesome, kind and absolutely go above and beyond. However, as an older person on new start I really object to the fees for parking. I was there for 5 hours and it cost me almost as much ($2 less) than an overnight stay. This is daylight robbery. Further more, I went to get a sandwich to stop my blood sugar becoming an issue, and paid $8.and some cents for an egg and lettuce sandwich. Given the number of elderly people with multiple health issues the charges are a total disgrace. How exactly do you justify the disgraceful costs associated with attending multiple appointments?low income people attending your hospital should get a huge discount on parking, food and beverages. For shame Prince Charles Hospital. For shame. You would make more money by charging private patients full price for parking, food and beverages, and offering low income people substantial discounts.
Best hospital I’ve ever been to by far and I’ve been to a lot. The DOCTORS are so amazing I haven’t got the words to tell you how amazing thoughtfull genuinely beautiful wonderful professional caring human beings that I have been gifted with there presence every single member that treated me for my shoulder operation was so about compassionate and thoughtful and just beautiful people THANKYOU so much for caring about me you all deserve so much more than I could ever give. PRINCE CHARLES HOSPITAL OWNERS and BOSSES you must feel so PROUD/ BLESSED to have such INCREDIBLY AMAZINGLY AWESOME DOCTORS and NURSES and all STAFF MEMBERS they make your hospital the” BEST IN THE WORLD “ in my experience everyone that works there shines so bright it’s so lovely to be around and I’m so blessed that I had this privileged experience in your hospital THANKYOU so much again PRINCE CHARLES HOSPITAL THANKYOU
If I could give no stars I would. THE WORST HOSPITAL I have even been to. I went to emergency as I had been throwing up for hours. The more fluid I threw up, the weaker I became. After a while, my hands and legs were numb and I fainted several times. My husband rushed me to emergency in a weak and fragile state. When asked what my pain level was, I replied an 8 and was received with a, “so not that bad then?”. I was told it would be hours, potentially 8 til I saw a doctor and they couldn’t even guarantee that. What is the point of emergency!? The admin at the emergency are absolutely disgusting with no kindness or respect for their patients. Myself and others were treated so badly, no cups at the water station, no Toilet paper in the toilets. I will never go to this hospital again and if others have emergencies, do yourself a huge favour and go to the Royal.
I have secondary navicular on my inner foot I injured it on the 27th Nov and my appointment was on the 25th Dec, the lady i had made me put my weight on it. I was shaking bc it hurt that much, i had a panic / anxiety attack in the car bc i was put through hurting myself more. I regret going to that hospital. My doctor recommended a Moon boot to reduce pain. But Stacy said no, u are fine. It's not a torn ligament just a sprained ankle (I had ultrasound and X-rays and came back 2nd stage tare!) The lady's name was Stacy. It's been 7months and continuing. I went to RWB hospital. I told them what happened and what Prince Charles hospital. RWBH told me I have chronic due to poor examination on my foot by TPCH (the Prince Charles hospital). I don't recommend the Prince Charles hospital (Right foot has the tare)
My father, Kevin Fittler, attended the Prince Charles Hospital for a series of tests, including an angiogram, on Wednesday the 23rd of February. His experience was flawless. He arrived apprehensive and concerned, however, the hospital main entrance reception immediatly put him at ease with her clear directions and a friendly manner. Once in cardiology everyone was amazing, from the nurse who prepped and prepared him for the procedure, the myriad of nurses and staff who performed tests to the gentlemen who wheeled him to the car for pick up. Everyone he met was courteous, helpful, obliging and understanding. The way they looked after my father give us every confidence that they are a professional and compassionate team that clearly love their calling and their patients. My father says "Thank you all".
I was presented to the emergency department on Sunday night, Jan 9th. I feel like everyone from the paramedics, the triage ladies, the wardies, the nurses and the doctors listened to me and worked so hard despite how unbelievably busy they were I felt in really good hands. I was super impressed with their covid protocols and felt safe despite being around positive people. The nurse that was looking after me in the red zone was Laura and she was comforting and professional to not only me but all the other patients that I could hear. When I was taken to short stay upstairs the staff were also amazing. Sean who was working as a ward staff was extra caring and Neil who was a nurse where I was staying was super attentive and kind. Everyone was great, honestly doing gods work, thank you all so much.
Went in today with chest pain and I was seated for 2.5hrs and no one came to see me. A gentleman came in after I had been there for 2.5hrs and he had chest pain. He was taken in within 5 minutes. I then asked the nurse how long it would take before I get seen and told her that my pain was moving into my back. She offered me Panadol and said it could still take a couple hours before I get seen. So how did a guy come in 2.5hrs after me with a similar issue and get seen straight away while I had been there for much longer than him? I told the nurse il go to another hospital. I went to Royal Brisbane hospital and they wasted no time and took me in right away. I’m very upset and will never return to this hospital and will surely tell everyone about my experience. Absolutely disgraceful service.
I recently spent 6 days in Ward 2D at Prince Charles Hospital due to a fractured pelvis. I was in quite a degree of pain during my stay. All staff I came in contact with were absolutely amazing. Without their caring positive attitudes, their expertise and dedication to their work I don't know how I would have coped. The Doctors, Nurses, Student Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Admin Staff where all superb. They really showed that they cared for their patients under often trying circumstances. The room service meals were outstanding. Definitely the best quality hospital food I've ever tasted. While there I felt I was like a part of a large family or community and never felt alone or unwanted. Nothing was too much trouble. A huge thank you to all, Kind regards Ralph Zielke
I had to get my mother to TPCH in an ambulance recently as she is now in a home & in a wheelchair. The QAS were just wonderful and the staff in the Transit Lounge were just so helpful as I had to wait a few hours not knowing the exact time she would arrive as QAS are just so busy trying to get as many patients to the hospital on time for their appointments. My mother was very confused by the time she arrived as she has not been far from the Care Home since ending up with the start of Dementia after a stroke early 22. Staff could see how anxious mum was so a wonderful doctor who had to check her Pace Maker came to her with a computer that could check her pacemaker in the Transit Lounge. Thank you all the staff at TPCH & especially the Transit Lounge staff.
This is (based upon my personal experience) the best experience ever in a public hospital. Surgery staff are excellent from pre admission to checkout. The food was even pleasant. I have been to hospital in USA cost thousands and dis not compare . The staff care and are well trained. The surgeon and registrars are second to none. Whatever ypur doing keep doing it . Oh and phone appointment staff are good too. Yes ypu may have to wait to get in (not much in my case due to patient cancel) but once in its outstanding. I have private insurance (and I charged my healthfund to help the system) Private surgeons are not very obliging and I checked several. Plus they always charge a gap. Go public and charge your insurance fund. There is no gap and no excess. NONE.
Went for appointment with a Cardiologist, never I aspect in PCH had Doctors, don't want understand the patient, think I was to old and don't know nothing about my self. In front of me want talk with my next of kind, who is my son, and my son was surprised with the questions the Doctor ask because he don't know nothing about all my problems. I advised Dr Wee before he talk with my son, but he don't listen. Go training or study more, The Prince Charles Hospital I think is not the right place for who came from overseas, for learn more about medicine, and try understand and believe in your patient, now all test he want do in me to my heart I can't with him, because my another problems can be affect by the tests special my lungs this point he don't want know.
First time I had to go to the emergency department due to early stages of appendicitis. Even though the department being understaffed and long waiting time, the nurses were very friendly and helpful. When I finally got a bed in the emergency department Laura one of the nurses on night shift looked after me being an absolute sweetheart, checking in evey 15min. Not only the nurses but also the doctor and surgeon that came to see me were super friendly and openly and clearly communicated my situation and next steps. I later was moved to a proper room on level 2 were again the staff was simply amazing. Thanks everyone for doing a brilliant job and also making my stay as comfortable as possible despite the circumstances of my visit
This is the first time I've been here . Accompanied my partner for his annual heart check up. No wonder he doesn't like going here. The service is terrible. We were here since 10am this morning done the MRI and other stuff after 12pm. Then go to the heart and lung reception at 12.37pm appointment was 1pm but they changed it to 2.15pm , I went to asked the reception how many more patients before us (it was 2.59pm) says 2 more , then 2 ,4 6 more patients nothing (3.37pm now) . The lady is nice enough to say to see if they can see us first before the other BUT NOTHING. We have about 2hrs drive home and a child to be picked up at daycare. THIS PLACE IS PATHETIC. they need to atleast priorities patients from the other side of the city.
You were just in a car accident, multiple wounds, you'll be lucky to be able to walk again. They load you up into the ambulance and you over hear them say "Head to Prince Charles", hold up... pause... I need to check the google reviews first. You struggle to lift you broken arms and check the google reviews for the hospital. Hang on... someone went to the hospital a few months ago with a child that had a fever, apparently they were ignored... you quickly rush out of the ambulance and ignore the broken legs and extreme pain you are going through, but hey at least you don't have to go to TPCH. How about you don't read the google reviews of a hospital, just go to the hospital. Be glad you aren't going to redcliffe or caboolture.
After my third open heart surgery a bypass on a damaged heart transplant i was diagnosed with sevear social anxiety and ptsd now they dont want to treat me properly every time i have angine because still have some blokedge they say is nothing wrong, dont bother doing any futher investigation as ive already tried suicide they think im not worsth of help. This is getting worst in most hospital and alot of people just rather take they own life then to be a burden for they family . Once again had really bad chest pain , legs very swollen blood pressure up to 185/89 and they sending me home saying is nothing just some muscle spams . Last time i had to wait for one year in pain to have the bypass .
DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS My brother tried to get help THREE times the week leading to his death, he committed suicide. Everyone turned him away and said he was “fine” - they had his extensive mental health history but clearly are unable to make a proper assessment with his presentation and his history. I understand the system issues and stigma attached to mental health but I won’t ever be silent around this - people are losing loved ones to a system that puts them in the “too hard basket”, we have lodged complaints and no one will acknowledge or take any form of responsibility. No other family should have to go through this. DO BETTER QUEENSLAND HEALTH!
I've been very pleased with the both the medical and interpersonal service provided at the Prince Charles Hospital emergency rooms. When my husband dislocated his shoulder the doctors and nurses were friendly, efficient and quick to treat him and refer him to the specialist clinic at The royal Brisbane. When I had to take my 3 year old girl in due to a suspected broken wrist all of the staff were so patient, helpful and supportive. It is the sort of service and care that you dream of for your child, and to be provided in a public hospital is just amazing. We will be going here for all emergencies in the future.
Terrible place. Treated my mother disgracefully. Wouldn’t let her go to toilet before surgery, after surgery threw a blanket at her and said “make your own bed”. Went through her suitcase without her permission. She lost an earring and wouldn’t let her look for it. A nurse overrode the doctors instructions and refused to give her the medication the doctor prescribed. The entire process was supposed to be investigated but of course they lied and the ombudsman believed them and did nothing. Absolutely appalling violations of human rights, not just for my mother but others as well.
Not enough signage. VERY hard to find palliative care ward, and very confusing if you enter from the front / allied health building. There was no one at the reception area as it was a saturday so out of hours, but no sign was there to say that, my brother waited and then had to look up the hospitals number to call and find what room our aunt was in. No signs for palliative parking, didn't know it even existed so parked in main area, which is $5 for 0-29, $10 for 30-59, etc. There's a nice outdoor area out back, but if you come in the main entrance it's very hard to navigate.
Not happy with this hospital my elderly mother was in hospital 2 weeks ago having an operation she was in for 4 days got send home went back a few later had her staples removed and wound dressed then sent home. A few days later she was back up there with leaking to her wound. Then Wednesday she had to return with more problems. Now 2 days later she is back at the hospital and been admitted back in cause her wound won't stop leaking. How pathetic is this that they can't even get things right. Not happy with the hospital. Take care of your patients especially the elderly.
My husband recently underwent an emergency Triple Heart Bypass under the care of Dr. Bruce Thomson. No words can express our gratitude to the highly skilled Dr. Thomson, the Surgical Team, Pharmacy, Allied Health and the many nurses who looked after him during his 2 week stay. Everyone was absolutely amazing ... and went over and above what we expected from them. Thank you Prince Charles Hospital ... you are all dedicated, caring, efficient people doing an amazing job dealing with a huge number of patients, under sometimes very stressful conditions! Well done!
My Grandson was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension when he was 9 yr s of age &!underwent Open Heart Surgery at Prince Charles Hospital ‘! All went amazingly well Thank you!!!!! Last Year He was admitted back to PC 2020 After 20 yrs !! Still today he’s under The Best team of professional Specialist Doctors & Staff ! members you could Ever Wish For ! Our Family & Brad are forever so so Grateful to Everyone whom is caring & Treating Him still Today ! 2021 Thank you Prince Charles Hospital Brisbane Australia
Although I had a very frustrating communication error with my surgery admission and not being on the list for the day, I did eventually get it done that day and I just wanted to point out how caring and lovely each staff member was that I came across. From pre surgery all the way through to recovery I felt safe and in good hands. The room service is definitely my favourite part of staying in hospital the food is so good thankyou all for your love and care all throughout the year, its been a tough one.
Waiting in line with my husband who feels like he’s having a heart attack at about 5.30 today and the administration girls did absolutely NOTHING and the nurse who was to busy having a laugh and a chat for over 10 minutes while my husbands in CHEST PAIN. Couldn’t wait any longer. We went to RBWH.. So much better here and action straight away because he was struggling. Do the admins know what to do when someone states they are short of breath and having chest problems?!?! Or can anyone get a job here
Children's Hospital has Inhumane conditions. Arrived at 11pm, not seen at 3am. Parents sit on unwelcoming singular chairs consoling their kids in beaming lights. My daughter had a fever come on so I asked for Panadol. We were ignored. Daughter was admitted for breathing difficulties. We gave up and went home. I'm now at home at 6:00am watching her struggle to breathe and I feel helpless. This place should be shutdown for humanitarian reasons. Honestly, demolish this place and it's management.
I went into Emergency today with chest pain. The staff were so efficient and compassionate and particularly, the nurses. We are certainly lucky in this country to receive this level of care from the public system. A lot of other places, 'treat 'em and street 'em' if you're lucky. I can't believe how thorough they were with tests. Dinner was nutritious - omelette and a plate piled with veggies. The medical staff I dealt with had an amazing bedside manner and calming affect. Thanks so much!
I have been treated a number of times at Prince Charles hospital for Heart Disease. 3 days in an induced coma after an event at home as well. Have had stents put in and an ICD. I cannot praise the hospital and staff enough. Dr Gaikwad is my Cardio and one amazing person with a dedicated team. His wife is what holds it all together from my experience and also one amazing person as she supports her man in his role. The food is outstanding and service amazing. Keep up the great work guys.
I presented to Prince Charles Public Emergency on Sunday 12 December with a kidney stone. While all the staff I encountered were courteous and professional, Dr Q and Russell (the patient transport/attendant) were outstandingly engaging and empathetic. Both communicated in a friendly, respectful matter that was appropriately informative such that I felt informed and involved. Please pass on my appreciation to the team and especially Dr Q and Russell for exemplifying professional care.
Attending my nursing placement ay TPCH and being treated the way I was as a student made me decide not to peruse nursing as a career. The behaviour of the nurses and clinical facilitators and the treatment of students is devastating and has driven away yet another eager nursing student from the industry. I was bullied by senior nurses and told that I took up too much time and energy. Glad I was exposed to it early and got out before my mental health was too destroyed.
My adult daughter had a procedure 11 days ago , I had to rush her back into emergency today and the treatment from entering emergency has been outstanding the staff in admission saw how much pain she was in and gave her a bed immediately . The doctors and nursing staff behind the scenes have been outstanding as a mother no matter how old your children are, seeing them in pain breaks your heart I cannot thank the staff enough for their support , you are all angels .
My husband was admitted to TPCH with severe constipation. He has advanced MND and was transported to TPCH Palliative Care Unit by QAS who were very caring. The moment we entered PCU, the Doctors and RNs were swift to make him and our daughter and I very welcome and comfortable. Thank you to Dr Jade, Dr Melissa, the very capable Nursing staff, Reception, Wardies, Cleaners and Foodies who cared for him. We appreciate each and everyone of you. What an amazing place!!
Amazing facilities, staff and care that is second to none. Very efficient emergency department. Caring and highly skilled medical officers, practitioners and nursing staff. Very friendly wardies, wonderful support staff also. Every time I have Attended as a patient or outpatient for an appointment I have been thoroughly impressed. As a healthcare worker, we have high expectations when the role is reversed but I love Charlie's and highly recommend it to anyone!
I had an angiogram and stent placement done here. From the first contact, communications (the cardiologist himself called me to discuss the options) everything was done efficiently and quickly. No long waiting, nurses were friendly and professional, I was well treated and kept informed about the next steps. We hear so much about problems with public health but this was a 6 out of 5 star experience. A big thank you to all staff involved.
Absolutely horrible service, the wait time and then being refused to be seen by anyone after waiting an hr patiently with no assistance or even a referral to royal Brisbane as they advised me to go to as they didn’t have the doctors qualified to assist me with the underlying issue, even though i had a severe condition, the manager was completely out of line and I felt racially discriminated. I will never attend this hospital again.
The only saving grace of this hospital is the kind hearted security guards we dealt with that made me feel human. I will be seeking every bit of legal advice possible to make sure my experience here does not happen to other vulnerable people. Hospitals are meant to help people. Perhaps look at some of your staff and how they treat vulnerable individuals. If i could give you negative 5 stars, you would receive negative 10 stars.
I have attended Prince Charles hospital for the last 10 years after receiving a double lung transplant and aortic valve replacement in 2012, I am very blessed to receive these not only from my donor but the excellent treatment I have received from doctors, nurses and other staff departments. I am truely looked after by everyone when I attend appointments, I owe my life to everyone involved and I cannot thank you enough. ❤️❤️
Went to the emergency entrance with my wife. Excellent service, only waited 10mins before seeing the Triage staff. Was sent to the Acute ward - seen immediately. All the staff were very caring- and we were kept up to date with protocols and times of next tests etc. A big thank you to all the ( very busy) staff in ward A who made a stressful day less of a trauma. Exceptional treatment and service -all very professional.
My mum just spent 10 days here in the surgical ward and everybody, from doctor's to nursing staff to wardsmen were outstanding. They were all so pleasant and helpful and nothing was too hard or inconvenient for them. Mum has been in both private and public hospitals before but has never received the care and understanding that she received at Prince Charles. Thanks so much for taking such good care of her.
All staff, doctors and nurses were incredibly caring, friendly and patient. They took the time to understand and examine and made a rather uncomfortable situation as comfortable as possible. I kept thinking I was admitted to a Private hospital as the level of care was next to none, including a wide variety and tasty hospital food. I am very grateful for the care that I received at Prince Charles.
The staff , the nurses and the doctor's, but most importantly the volunteers who help there are amazing people just like the staff , nurses and doctors are kind, caring people. I've been there a few times and still have to go to Prince Charles hospital, they are very good there. Thank you to all the staff, nurses, doctors and volunteers, you make this a great hospital, keep up your great work.
Absolutely amazing staff within the ED, short stay. Cannot praise them enough. So caring, friendly, professional and compassionate. The staff were dealing with such an overload of patients but still managed to give 100% care. Was so impressed with the way staff also dealt with a very rude demanding patient. Not once were they anything but polite. Thankyou to everyone. Keep up the amazing work.
Having spent, just 8 hrs in Ed with my daughter. IM disgusted in the "mood" of some staff. ITS now nearly 5 hrs waiting on an ultrasound report, which took 3hrs after being told 1pm time. AND the dismissal of chronic pain cases and flair ups. AS well as servere pelvis pain. MY first visit here and over all not impressed. @qldhealth as let down the staff hospitals and patient's.
My mother went to emergency on the 27th June. She has since been in four separate areas, currently in GEM ward. I am so grateful for the care and compassion given to her from an amazing team of Doctors, Nurses, physiotherapists and other health professionals. I would especially like to thank the Close Monitoring Unit on the Thoracic ward, care and compassion was outstanding.
I have been to this hospital around 6 times for asthma. Each time I have been in critical condition. The staff are truly amazing, they have treated me with up most respect. Always checking in, always making me feel comfortable and making me feel at home. The gratitude I have for all of them is beyond measure. Thank you to each and every one of you I’m very grateful. Laura :)
I couldn't have asked for better care, while in hospital, Everyone from the Ground positions to the Top Positions, Not a unpleasant person to be found, what a wonderful environment, while receiving medical attention. For the food,Fresh Fresh & Fresh, nothing was a hassle for them. So Congratulations Prince Charles Hospital. Everyone treated equally.
As a heart attack sufferer PCH has long had a rep of being the heart hospital of choice in Brisbane. Well they absolutely lived up to that reputation. From the cardiologist Dr Murdoch and his team to all the staff in CCU ward impeccable. Just caring efficient and knowledgeable. Just a wonderful experience and chance to enjoy the last third of my life. Thank you.
Worst hospital ever, went there in an emergency for my 6 months daughter, waited 4 hours but still couldn’t get our turn to see the doctor. When asked how long it will take, lady in the counter rudely replied that there is a people who have been waiting longer than me. Making wait to a adult can be understanding but not a baby. It was such a help less situation.
Had to go in through emergency because of broken ankle (which was not known in the beginning). I was well taken care of and though I had to wait a fair bit before being brought it, it was not too long relative to other times I had experienced. Shout out to Geoff, the physiotherapist, who looked after me with much care, consideration, organisation and knowledge.
Regardless of the reason why you are there. Every staff member treats you with respect & dignity. I have forged some beautiful friendships at the hospital and always get to have a laugh with the nurses to brighten their day. They work so hard and always have your best interests at heart. So caring & reassuring especially if your a frequent visitor! Thanks P.C
Emergency department is Terrible! My partner went there for a very bad cut in his hand ( he actually cut his artery) partner waited half and hour bleeding out before anyone even talked to him! Almost passing out as he lost a lot of blood! I do not recommend going to this ER as they are clearly under staffed and will make you wait even if you are bleeding.
I've gone to Prince Charles hospital emergency a couple of times. Each time I've been looked after either with pain relief and/or cold packs. Once with a broken arm which didn't take long for xray and treatment. And just last Thursday was admitted for surgery which I had the next day. All the staff were fantastic. I'll always go there if I need to.
Worst hospital I have ever seen. No care of little ones having high fever. They call it low priority. "Emergency" is just a name for them and they don't know the meaning of it. They will make you sit for 3 hours saying doctors are busy and if new patients come in between they can send them to doctor. Full of racism. Will never recommend to anyone.
THIS IS THE BEST MEDICAL FACILITY I HAVE BEEN TOO. The staff are kind and friendly, I was made to feel that everything was going to be ok, despite the pain (I don't take painkillers.). there communication was perfect I was made to understand what was happening every step of the way. there was no unanswered questions. they care, and it shows
my boyfriend had a leg injury and needed stitches in place, we waited for 6 hours to be seen and the conclusion was that a minor surgery was scheduled for another day. The crisis in the public/private health system exists, I hope that in the next election the choice will be better because Queensland's health is in serious trouble.
A lot of times I couldn't leave 5 stars, but I have to, this time. They're all for Sharranne mcguire (sorry if I spelled your name wrong). Lovely lady with a big heart and a warm calm demeanour. First mental health professional to make my daughter feel at ease and heard. You are a credit to yourself and any hospital you work at.
Only went due to my partner relocating from Caboolture hospital to this one for a heart attack! The price of parking is outrageous and nearly had a heart attack myself.. I understand it's a private company you're giving money for them? But it's not a good impression of the hospital if you are unaware that it's not their fault
My daughter sat in the waiting room for 8 hours after an x-ray showed she had broken her leg. She was in so much pain and only offered panadol. The cast the was applied is horrendous and has to be replaced. The doctors putting the cast on instructed me to put gloves on an help bandage my daughters leg myself!!!
My recent visit for lung surgery was 5x star. The nurses, doctors gave me exceptional care and cannot thank the all enough in ward 2A. Only downside a lot of my hot meals arrived cold and due to that uneatable. Detail needs to be given to main meals arrive hot enough to be eatable. But still give 5x star
Major suburban hospital offering wide range of specialty services. Acute and elective care. Big emergency department. Some highly specialised services like heart and lung transplants. Friendly staff. Limited public transport to location Parking is increasingly hard to get around the middle of the day.
Unfortunately I visit hospitals quite a lot due to injury’s. Today I have experienced the best bedside manner and the most bright and positive attitudes I have ever experienced. Karen and Bridget in ED have made this visit a very pleasurable experience. Extremely impressed, great work guys …
Very busy place, staff at reception do a really good job of managing such volumes of people. I don’t think we show enough appreciation for the work done at this institution from admin to medical staff. I tip my hat off to you all for doing your difficult jobs while keeping smiles on your faces!! ♥️
Went in after being referred by another part of the hospital for medical clearance. The nurses were so lovely, and even made a clear effort to be upbeat despite how stressful it must be. Doctor was good and polite, the assessment was quick and he understood I wanted to be released. Thank you!
Educational Post - I recently completed placement at Prince Charles Hospital and from a professional side I am thankful for this hospital with providing extensive knowledge and education for students and setting an amazing example and standards for us. Nurses are lovely and very caring.
I would like to say a Huge Thank You to the staff at Prince Charles, from the beginning of my operation to being released after surgery and 5 days in hospital the staff are amazing people who put themselves out there to care for their patients. You people are truly amazing ❤️ …
Just had my kidney stone removed and absolutely satisfied with service of this hospital has provided me.. 100 %, world class service from all the doctors and nurses from various departments.. These guys are working hard around the clock for general public's well-being.. Hats off!!!
Has to be one of the worst in Brisbane. Sat there for 3+ hours with a bruised rib and a muscle tear. Over crowded meant that my breathing became worse and worse. No nurses or receptionist to even hear our complaint. If I had a cut I Would of bleed out before even being glanced at
Genuinely the best medical care I've ever received from the ED. Ended up being sick over the Easter weekend and was amazed at the genuine empathy and care for all their patients. Nurse Ellie and Doctor Cleveland are absolute angels. Thank you and the rest of the team at TPCH.
Brilliant hospital. The outpatient dept runs almost to time, the parking cost isn't excessive, the coffee is good, and the clinical staff are excellent. It's quite a drive from my home, but the experience was so much better than I am used to locally. Outstanding service.
My wife had an echocardiogram on Friday 24/06/2022 at 3pm. They were right on time and the staff were all lovely,. It is scary for the patient but the staff quickly put us at ease, which helps to relax the patient.. Thank you girls for your care and understanding.
Don't go to the emergency triage it's an ongoing nightmare, an average wait of up to 12hrs with rude indifferent staff and big burly sercurity guards ready to pounce in you if you approach the nurse. It's the worst in Brisbane, go ANYWHERE else …
English lady from mental health called in regards to my brother/ domestic violence incident. She was super helpful, and a lot better than the police who showed up at 1pm, despite calling them at 11pm the night prior. Very happy, thank you so much :)
'Special' shout out to Nola on the desk in Oncology - possibly one of the most abrupt, rude public servants in Brisbane. Ticks every box for how cancer patients and their families should never be treated. Maybe this isn't the right job for you pet.
I would like to thank all of you for your service and support. I absolutely appreciate Thank you for looking after me and I wish you all merry Christmas and the best 2024. More respect Thank you Australia
From the ambulance crew to Dr and nurses, I was looked after do well. They were so busy but was treated to wonderful service. Thankyou Parris, Natasha, Jack, Amanda to name just a few of those who made my stay comfortable, professional and calming
I have been to the Prince Charles on 2 occasions in the last 2 weeks for blood transfusions. Once through general emergency and once visa ambulance. I have been so very impressed especially with the nurses. Both drs and nurses have been fantastic.
I was admitted through the emergency department last night. It was extremely busy at the time. Some people were left standing up or had to stand up to give their seat to a more infirm person so there's not enough seating there. I arrived at
As a Qld Health employee who works at one of the other large hospitals in SEQ, I was very impressed at the warmth, professionalism, attention to detail and timeliness of my passage through the emergency department at a busy time. A special
Had a Paediatric outpatient appointment for my son today. Was seen by Dr Rose Fahy and an intern. Their bedside manner could definitely do with some improvement, especially Dr Fahy's! I was asked why I was there. I was unsure as the GP had
So disappointed the Covid-19 Vaccine place at the prince Charles hospital. There wasn’t available any tape or band aids or first aid box. My mum is diabetic and after vaccination they have not any equipment to avoid bleeding. it's awful
As I expected, it was a long waiting time in ED, but good patient services provided by all staffs. One thing I don't like in this hospital was that nursing staffs just came to patients when they were doing their jobs only. There was no
Nurses in the main were absolutely fantastic and dedicated to caring for me and the other people in the ward. The doctors however leave a lot to be desired. Misdiagnosis, poor attitudes and without a doubt a royal sense of arrogance in
Took my father to the Prince Charles hospital as he was experiencing esophageal burning and chest pains. We were taken in immediately and had a barrage of tests within a short period of time. The Prince Charles team diagnosed a heart
Just saying, if you ever hospitalised with them, go for the beef burger. It’s amazing. 10/10 experience, but definitely don’t want dine in again. Sincerely appreciation to all the hospital staff members and wish everyone good health.
Was discharged today from Emu ward, bed C2. From the emergency department, who could not be faulted to the staff of Emu ward. You don't give great service but great care. Was a sincere pleasure to have met you all. Thanks George
Waiting 5 hrs for a medical certificate is just a joke it's a piece of paperwork honestly someone else could of had my bed by now but they choose to make you wait in bed for it absolute joke be better on these situations please
