This private hospital, it's administration staff, ward nurses, ICU nurses and specialists/doctors/surgeons are void of any understanding of compassion nor have any genuine empathy. It is a production line of patients with no concern for next of kin only when the patient is alive and ready to leave. My husband underwent open heart surgery which was clouded in mystery before, during and after. I was basically invisible. ICU being one on one care is a joke. I was abused by admin and nursing staff and ignored by the surgeon. There were absolute gems on staff but were few and far between. Only one nurse ever asked was I ok. It was an horrific surgery. My husband needs plastic surgery to fix the mess on his arm where a graft was harvested. ALWAYS ask what they are doing or you will never know. I have PTSD as a result of our experience there. I also agree with other reviews regarding the overuse of pain killers and physical and verbal abuse. The literature we were given was very out of date and staff could not answer basic questions. Departments need to know what each other do for consistency of care. Something needs to change.
My husband has pancreatic cancer and we have been going to Holy Spirit Northside quite regularly for 2 years. Our experience with the hospital and their wonderful staff has been outstanding. We have had specialists come in to see him in the middle of the night and the nursing staff have always been helpful, warm and made what is terrible journey much easier. I have read some of the negative reviews and am flummoxed as our experience has been the complete opposite. We have recommended this hospital to others and they concur with our views. Of course there have been a couple of admin mix ups but they were dealt with and sorted promptly. Being a smaller hospital meant we were treated more personally and never once were we made to feel like just a "number". I highly recommend them and would like to say thankyou publicly.
Twice I have been an inpatient at this hospital. On my first stay, I thought I’d got lucky and struck a few excellent doctors and nurses. But now, after my second stay (a year later) I realise this is a superb hospital. The kindness was almost overwhelming. I felt like the best friend or close relative of everyone. From the reception ladies, to the terrific doctors (esp Dr Mishra), the amazing nurses, even wards men (thanks Wayne), St Vincent’s Private Hospital is filled with care, compassion and competence. Sure, I love the hospital near my home town in Rockhampton. But if I’m ever in Brisbane and am unfortunate enough to get sick again, I hope I’m fortunate enough to be their patient. Thank you to everyone for all you did for me. I’m very grateful to you. ❤️
I was in the post surgery ward called GA to frequently visit my mother after a knee replacement and, as an RN working for nearly 30 years, was repulsed by the lack of hygiene from a nurse 'sarah'. Not only had I not seen her perform any sort of hand hygiene even once, she would wear a long sleeve under her scrubs top! Whatever happened to bare below the elbows? The most basic hygiene standard not even met! I would instantly let go one of my workers if I witnessed anyone in that state! To make matters worse, I could her her having a loud verbal argument right outside our door with one of the student nurses that were there that day, there arent any exceptions for her lack of respect I see! Good on the student for standing up for themselves!
I chose St Vincent Private Hospital North Side because of the Doctor. I am so happy that my Doctor was affiliated with SVPH. From pre admission to discharge the whole experience was fantastic. I had bi lateral total knee replacements done, yes, both at the same time. The staff were amazing, so kind and generous. I felt heard, taken care of and most importantly respected. Everyone was friendly, even the cleaning staff. Anyone who entered my room introduced themselves and explained what was going to happen and why they were in my room. The food was excellent and you could eat at a time suited you. Lots of choice for all dietary requirements. I highly recommend this Hospital and its staff.
Staff are excellent. From the admissions desk all the way to theatre they are very caring and very professional. My 8 year old was looked after every step of the way after his operation. The nurses, doctors in fact every one should be commended. The cafe is one of the best I have been to in the area. (Not many good cafes around) Lots to choose from. Great outdoors eating area and friendly staff. Will be back even if we are not patients. Only real negative is the fact that the kitchenette is locked and you need to interrupt the staff to open it just to get a snack or a drink. A little frustrating for us as i hate to take the staff away from their duty even though they don’t mind.
I was unlucky enough to have had a fall yesterday and ended up at St Vincent's Northside. From the time I limped in until later in the afternoon when I went home, I was so well looked after. Firstly Cassidy at reception was very efficient and got me into a room as quickly as possible, minutes! Then Maria started to clean me up. She was fantastic. I was a bloody mess and she carefully got me cleaned up and with a doctors very quickly. Dr Dylan was very professional and got me into xray and pain relief, very fast. Ashley and Maria cleaned and dressed my wounds and I could not fault their care. Would highly recommend this hospital.
Is this a hospital or a resort? Honestly, I didn’t feel like I was at a hospital. I was admitted through private emergency. A 6 day admission for disc issues leading to surgery. The doctors, nurses, physios and every other staff member were exceptional. They took great pride in their work, and went the extra mile to help. The food was awesome with a lot of healthy options. I loved their pumpkin soup and the lemon meringue A special shout-out to Liz Richardson for her attention to detail and knowledge. She was very kind and it felt like I was talking to someone I had known for a long time. Sincere thanks to everyone.
My 90 year old mother was delivered by ambulance to the emergency department yesterday. She received excellent care - as you would hope for from a world class hospital such as Holy Spirit. What else was exceptional and prompted this review was how I was treated by the doctor and nursing staff in Emergency. I was treated with respect, courtesy, always kept informed about what was happening and what would happen next and in every case, they used my name. I would have been impressed at this level of client service from a 6 star hotel. To the management of Holy Spirit - I hope you value these people as highly as I do.
My husband stayed here for nearly two weeks - Ward 2B, bed 31. It was a rough start, we are about to leave however, Kath (The Coordinator) made it all worthwhile. We cannot thank you enough. We also want to thank the team leaders and nurse's starting from Claire, Lisa, Latu and to everyone who attended to my husband. Sorry I cannot remember all your names but you know who you are and you did a fantastic job. You have represented the true meaning of a health care worker and what it stands for. From the bottom of our hearts thank you guys. You deserve a 10 star rating.
I had spinal surgery here May 15, 2023 and spent two nights in a private hospital room. Everything and everyone at St. Vincent’s Chermside was top notch including the admission process, the nurses, the imaging department, and even the food service. Staff were all very professional, caring and competent. Not only did they treat the patients with respect and professionalism, I noticed that they treated each other that way as well. Thank you to everyone for helping me through a difficult procedure.
I arrived in emergency at 3.30am with a very inflamed appendix and by 10.30am I was in surgery having it removed. The entire team - doctors, nurses, orderlies, caterers and cleaners - showed the utmost professionalism while being friendly and keeping me informed and reassured the entire time. While I didn't plan on spending the weekend before Christmas having emergency surgery, St Vincent's Private made it the best experience it could be
My experience was in the Emergency Dept 09/09/21. Thank you Mick for your professional care and empathy on a busy day in Emergency. Not only did Mick take exceptional care of myself, he supported my partner as well, who was waiting with me in Emergency. I would also like to thank Dr Mohammed (Mo), for his professional care and keeping me informed with the results and outcomes during my stay. Excellent EmergencyvTeam! Kind Regards CW
I had operation on ward 1A, Bed 3, last Wednesday on 12/10/22 with Dr Hughes who is so knowledgeable, and nice man, very caring, I am very very happy with the result. Apart from operation All nurses were super helpful, nice and caring, can not remember all names as my brain was so foggy, only remember Jean, thanks very much Jean for being so caring, thanks all for being super friendly and nice. I would say they are like angels.
Shout out to all of the gorgeous nurses in ward 1A! Unfortunately was admitted twice but all of you made an awful painful experience a million times better. I didn’t like the fact that I was in hospital and away from my family and in pain, but it was like having friends close by. You all actually cared. You were all so lovely, caring, friendly, empathetic and advocated for me. Thank you! You all deserve a massive pay rise!
My wife was admitted as an emergency patient after complications after an operation. She was there for just under two weeks. Every time I visited the staff were friendly and courteous. My wife although unwell was treated with dignity and has only spoken great things. Well done to the hard working nurses , staff and Surgeons who work here. Also very grateful for health insurance !! Well done everybody. ( ward 1B)
We received the most wonderful care, from the moment we arrived at the ED to the moment we left. Prompt, friendly, caring service at a time that could be truly scary. Thank you especially to staff who looked after my daughter - Joe our nurse, Adam our ED Doctor and all the radiology staff including Lyn and David. Together with the specialist surgeon who advised, we couldn’t have had better care.
I underwent abdominal surgery and spent 5 days in the Hospital being cared for by an exceptional team of medical staff. The Doctors and nursing staff are an incredibly dedicated and caring group of people who have a passion for their profession and they deliver a very high level of care at all times no matter how demanding the situation may be. My heartfelt thanks go to all those involved.
8 day admission for valve surgery. I can say every doctor, nurse physio , worker where all exceptional, took great pride in their work, and actually appeared to like their work, and place of work and teams. They made a major surgery feel routine for me, the food was good for hospital food, this can be fine tuned, my partner also felt well supported by our marvellous surgeon.
Have been visiting my doctor here for years. Very clean and staff are lovely. It can be a little hard to navigate the first couple of times as there is a bit of a maze and you need to be very sure of what building colour you are looking for. Parking is moderately expensive, but not the worst for a hospital in Brisbane.
Recently stayed overnight after gallbladder removal surgery. I was very unwell afterwards, but the nursing staff were beyond amazing and caring. Loved the room service food too with great choices (have attached photos in case anyone wants to know in advance what you can get).
Recently here for a heart condition & received first class care by doctors, cardiologists who care. From the e.d. to the ward. Nurses too were wonderful, compassionate, understanding. Extraordinary hospital, thank you. Wouldn't go anywhere else!
Easy to access for patient pick up and drop off, parking can be difficult to find though. The hospital is clean and well set out. There are volunteers that helped lots of people with directions (including me) it was a good experience all round.
Absolutely brilliantly assisted me when I came in with a badly broken arm. All staff, from reception, to nurses, to doctors and imaging staff were totally professional, extremely courteous and very responsive to my needs.
There was quite a wait to get the patient checked in. There is a person on the floor to assist with inquires, which is a good service for when the reception is too busy. Overall, efficient and friendly nursing staff.
One of the best private hospitals around !! Lovely staff, great facilities and after many of visits I have never had any issues or concerns
Luke is a very rude person shouldn’t be at the delivery dock very unprofessional his actions contain low key racism
Parking is difficult and usually a long walk. Best to drop off at the door
Had a surgery here last week and all staff were lovely.
